Loulou Pizzabar in Weesperzijde

I’ve been following Lou Lou’s Pizza Bar in Amsterdam and Tawfik’s journey for over five years, so it was great to finally meet him and his crew in person. We tried several of his specialty pizzas and I already know there are a few more I need to come back for. Thank you for the incredible hospitality, Tawfik. Awesome meeting you and talking pizza. Hopefully next time it’s in Boston when you come visit us!

Very bad experience. My girlfriend had clearly indicated that she has a nut allergy and was told that the pizza was safe. When her lips started to swell, she asked the staff to check again. At first, they said they had already checked and that there were no nuts in it. Only after she specifically asked to check the vegan cheese did it turn out that it *did* contain nuts. Instead of taking responsibility, they initially wanted her to pay for the pizza as well. Very unprofessional and concerning when dealing with food allergies.

Absolutely amazing pizza, the taste was outstanding and surprisingly light. I usually can’t finish a whole pizza, but this time I didn’t want to miss a single piece. The presentation matched the photos perfectly, and the flavor was even better than expected. I really loved it. The only downside was the service at the entrance. We had a reservation, but it was quite difficult to find someone to help us get seated. There seemed to be only one person managing this, which led to some confusion and a bit of frustration among guests waiting in line and not having nice attitude towards us, It wasn’t the best first impression, and I hope this process can be improved. Overall, the food itself was excellent and definitely worth it.

Tasty pizza but very busy and not the expected service

The pizzas and desserts were delicious. The pizzas there are never disappointing. We had 2 waitresses who were taking care of us, they were patient and nice. However after seating down, it took 50 minutes to finally get our pizzas on the table. It’s a bit long. We had to ask to get an update after 45 minutes waiting.

Had a delicious meal at Loulou pizzabar! Friendly staff, fast service, delicious food, and very happy with the selection of gluten-free pizzas. They even have a separate kitchen to prepare this to prevent cross-contamination. Big compliments, we would love to come back again!

The taste of the pizza was not the best for a restaurant that is so well-known, and it was quite expensive.

Ordered pizza for delivery last night. The pizza turned out not to match the order. It was a pizza with ingredients missing and onions on it that my husband specifically cannot eat. Huge disappointment.

Bella Lenta is the best pizza I have had in 5 years in Amsterdam. Our group tried four different pizzas and all of them were including vegetarian ones were exceptionally good. Negroni was decent, but the rest of the cocktails were underwhelming. The service was friendly, and pizzas arrived quickly. This place has a chic yet casual vibe making it a great spot for hang.

Update July 2, 2026: Yesterday, we finally managed to try the pizza with a reservation. My daughter really liked the gluten-free Margherita pizza and gave it 4.5 stars. I also tried the gluten-free version and have to say that I enjoyed it as well. It's very lightly salted, but you can easily adjust the seasoning with the salt shaker. Overall, I give the pizza 4 stars. It was great to be able to eat together easily and without fear of cross-contamination, despite my celiac disease. For that, and for the service, I give it 4 stars. The owner (who runs the second kitchen for gluten-free pizza) apparently put two and two together and approached me after the meal to explain that there had been a misunderstanding two days prior. He apologized profusely and said that it hadn't lived up to his idea of ​​good service. He also apologized very warmly to my daughter, which I personally found very sincere and heartfelt. Thank you so much! ❤️ Conclusion: You can eat very well there even with celiac disease. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ However, you should be prepared that if you visit spontaneously (which is certainly not uncommon for day-trippers), you might not be able to get anything, even though this contradicts Loulou's core philosophy of service! ⭐️ Update 02-07-26: Yesterday we finally managed to try the pizza after making a reservation. It was safe from thanks to the celiac disease and the fear of crushing seeds from the same gaan; for this and for service 4⭐️. What a wonderful evening I had here. The atmosphere in the place is incredibly nice and the food was truly fantastic. The pizza with fresh figs and walnuts, in particular, was a huge surprise. The combination of flavors was just right and everything looked beautiful on the plate. I will definitely be back here again.

Ordered Arabica pizza to take away. It turned out they’d forgotten to put Buffalo mozzarella, almonds and pomegranate oil on it. And that was for 22 euros and a wait of over 30 minutes.

Good pizzas and they have a lots of glutenfree options! Glutenfree pizza was really good.

We (2 people) had to wait more than 50 minutes for our pizzas after ordering. That’s simply too much. At the very least, it would’ve been nice to be given a heads up that it could take that long when we ordered. We asked various times if our order was still coming and they eventually did remove one of our drinks from the bill as an apology. Still, if it is extremely busy, it’s better to inform the guests up front. The pizza is good, even though way too much semolina on the dough for my taste. The location is nice as you get sun until late in the evening.

In my opinion this place is highly overrated. Delivery takes quite long because it is completely full of people. Thats why it is also very noisy. I think the prices are too high for what it tastes at the end :(

Fantastic gluten free pizza, best I've ever tasted and also the choices. We sat outside (recommended) beautiful street setting on the river Amstel in the sunshine, can't ask for much better! Service excellent and drinks the same, especially the cocktails. We booked our table, is really busy and difficult to just walk in, but can see why. 5 stars

Good pizza - not the best in Amsterdam, but solid. I've taken two celiacs here and they handle it really well. For that, they earn five stars. Quite pricey but it's on the Amstel so to be expected.

Nice place, friendly staff. Pizza’s are tasteful and good so why the lower rating on food? Because of the glutten free pizza’s. On the website there is a lot of information on glutten free and a whole story about a self developed dough/base. But imagine the disappointment when you get a pre packaged base that looks and tastes a lot like all other pre packaged pizza bases from general wholesale stores like for instance Hanos.

Order take away. I was told it would take 10-15 minutes. Everyone who ordered before and after me got their pizza while I was still waiting. Asked several people to check what's the hold up, they never got back to me. Finally got my pizza after 35 minutes waiting. I think they gave my pizza to someone who ordered after me but never admitted to their mistake.

The service was incredibly friendly and attentive. We waited maybe 15 minutes after ordering the pizza. The food was delicious, I highly recommend it!

I came here tempted by the good reviews to try their delicious gluten-free pizza, but the way I was treated was outrageous. I arrived at 9:20 PM and was informed they were closing at 10 PM, so they told me to order a pizza through their website. The payment system was malfunctioning, so I couldn't place my order. I had to ask the staff to kindly order the pizza. Being hungry, I wanted to eat outside on the tables and chairs set up outside, but I was subjected to psychological abuse from the staff, who were very aggressively folding the chairs and tables (it was 9:40 PM, 20 minutes until closing). I got up and left because I was very unhappy with the food. I don't understand why I couldn't receive proper service and go inside like a polite person. The pizza was delicious and made with good ingredients, but the service was terrible. I definitely won't be back and I don't recommend this place.

We tried the calzone and vitello tonnato pizza here. The pizza was delicious and served quickly! We showed up without a reservation and were lucky, as the place was packed at 8:30 PM.

We stayed here for four days. It's a nice, small hotel quite centrally located in Amsterdam. We were able to reach quite a bit of Amsterdam on foot. Unfortunately, the road to the hotel was blocked. The receptionist claimed you could drive in on the one-way street, which led to a cyclist and a car complaining. Parking is very difficult with large cars, but we managed. The room was clean and tidy. Unfortunately, the cups weren't replaced once, and the tea wasn't refilled. Otherwise, we can definitely recommend the hotel. The ladies at reception were very nice, friendly, and helpful.

The pizzas are not that bad, but they dare to throw the cheapest supermarket tomatoes on the pizza, which have an aweful taste. Also too much dough in the crust in my opion.

Decent pizza, nothing too memorable, but man THE ONLY REASON we came here was to get gluten free pizza, and it turned out they were out of the dough they import from Italy. I got a gluten pizza, and then we wandered for a while trying to find any other restaurant open on King’s Day for my wife to eat at. I wish they just had a steady supply chain.

The food and the waiters were great, however the manager was screaming at the waitress which really disturbed my evening.

I like the pizza here a lot. 10 months ago they didn't have glutenfree pizza unless it was pre-order. After calling for a third time, I got the explanation. There are a few amazing pizzerias in Amsterdam, and Lou Lou Pizza is one of the best among them. I don’t live nearby, so I don’t visit this place as often as I would like. However, whenever I’m in the area, I always make sure to stop by. The pizza is delicious, and they only use high-quality ingredients. The staff is very friendly, and the atmosphere is great. If you want to treat yourself to a very good pizza, come here, you won’t be disappointed. Gluten free pizza is available.

One of the best pizzas I've ever eaten in my life

If we could give this 6 stars we would! Sat us within minutes despite it being a beautifully sunny day and having sun drenched tables on the waterside. First table had very high chairs and when we asked if there were any lower for our 3 year old they moved us within a couple of minutes. Pizzas were really, really good - dough particularly tasty. The gluten free option was made in a separate kitchen (Coeliac friendly) and also excellent. The place had a lovely atmosphere, friendly and attentive service, and it was keenly priced. Would highly recommend!

Always nice dinners at Loulou Pizzabar. Staff are friendly, food is good, speed of service is great so what else can you ask for? Nothing in my mind, just go and enjoy an evening with friends, family, business trip or alone if you want to time alone 😃

Nice, cozy pizza bar with delicious (also gluten-free) pizzas and super sweet and attentive staff.

Went here for an evening dinner with a group of 6, we were accommodated for very well, and the pizzas, as well as tiramisu were delicious. What surprised me the most is the super attentive service by our waitress - always discreetly checking up on ours as well as other tables. We never had to wait to place our orders or wonder how to get a waiters attention, which is what my experience has been in most restaurants in the Netherlands. On top of that the wine selection can make you happy even at the lowest price point.

Hands down, the best pizzeria in Amsterdam. A rich, airy dough. Top-quality ingredients. From the San Marzano tomatoes to the buffalo mozzarella. Highly recommended.

My sister and I had such a great time! We started with the bruschetta mista, and we knew right away we'd chosen a good restaurant. It was delicious and generously topped. When we made our reservation, we mentioned that I eat gluten-free, and they also immediately indicated that the starter wasn't gluten-free. Not a big deal for me, as I have a mild intolerance, but it's good that they're aware of it. They also mentioned this with dessert. It's a comforting feeling that several staff members are so aware of this, especially if you have a severe intolerance. My sister received the wrong pizza, but this was quickly resolved, and we were offered a free drink. We explained that this wasn't necessary and that we were thoroughly enjoying ourselves. My pizza with a gluten-free crust was also delicious. For dessert, we had two scoops of ice cream and tiramisu, which were on the house. The staff were very friendly, the atmosphere was nice, and the food was delicious. I definitely recommend going here. Don't forget to make a reservation, as it gets packed!

I’d heard a lot about this place so we had to try it out whilst we were in Amsterdam. The restaurant is right by the canal so it was a lovely walk there and gorgeous views too. We were seated very quickly and drinks/food also arrived in good time. I ordered the melanzane alla parmigiana for a starter and the tartufo pizza (parma ham, rocket, truffle cream). Both were amazing! The waiters were knowledgeable about allergies and assured me that the gluten free pizzas were prepared in a separate area with gloves and separate boxes of toppings, and cooked in a separate oven! This was the best gluten free pizza I’ve ever had. The service here was great and the prices were some of the more reasonable prices we’ve seen in Amsterdam.

Went here for dinner with a friend. It's a lovely, central location with an Italian atmosphere and delicious pizza, which is quite different from what we're used to. Appearances are important, and that's certainly the case here: pizza that looks like a work of art and is also delicious. Definitely recommended!

We booked online as we saw in reviews it was busy and we were right to do so. They were very busy and had lots of take away pizzas too. We had a gluten free pizza (buratta) and a regular (salami). Both thought they were very tasty, very thin crust. The gluten free is suitable for coeliacs as it is cooked in a separate oven and prepared in a separate area (staff confirmed this). Overall a nice pizza and ok service! Would like some other gluten free dessert options other than panacotta.
