Lunchroom Prego in Centrum

When we asked where our food was, after waiting quite a while, we were told it would be 5 minutes. Meanwhile, we went inside because the musical organ had moved close to the terrace and kept playing loudly. We couldn't even hear each other. The employee thought it was nonsense that we complained about it. But we went inside, the food arrived. I asked her if it had to be ordered from Amsterdam. They had forgotten to put our order in. Normally, you would have just brought it to the table to report it. We had to ask twice ourselves. Then we went to pay. The receipt included all sorts of other things. She then asked how many coffees we had. My husband said 2. I replied that the last coffee was free for the long wait. She admitted we had had to wait a long time. She grumbled that we were complaining about the drink organ, and then told the person taking the bill, "Just give it 3.10." Then they'd leave. What unfriendly customer service! I'll never go back here again. It's time for the whole place to retire with all the bad reviews. I just read.

A filthy shop. "Staff," if you can call it that, are unfriendly. The coffee is a disaster, and my Coke only tasted of dish soap. Probably the glass wasn't cleaned properly. I hope no one is offended, but something has to change here, otherwise the shop will rightfully go to the dogs.

We sat down at 4:15 p.m. The kitchen was already closed, so we only ordered a cappuccino and a Coke. The cappuccino was very watery—unfortunately, it didn't taste good at all. The service and the ambiance left a lot to be desired.

Coffee is okay , but there are so many nice places with nice people who deserved to be supported, but not this one!! To the old lady who served us : stop working in a restaurant if you hate other people !

Had a cappuccino with pastries here. In addition to your coffee, you could order tap water for €0.95 per glass. This glass turned out to be a shot glass of water, really scandalous! In addition the mocha pastry seemed to be old very dry cake. No second time for me.

They reuse the sauce and Karin is always grumpy when you come in. The food is also really unbelievable

I ordered a hot chocolate with whipped cream, a tonic with ice and two toasted sandwiches. When the drinks were delivered the tonic was missing ice, when I asked for it the waitress curtly said they don't have ice. Please tell me that immediately when I order it! The tonic itself was not properly chilled, I don't think it had even been in the refrigerator. The chocolate milk was sickly sweet, not tasty at all! And rarely have I had a worse sandwich, old and dry bread, cheese without any flavor that hasn't even been properly melted. No, we will never go back here again!

We wanted to eat a cake with 3 couples in our mid-20s. The staff told us we would have to sit at separate tables or otherwiese we would be too loud...

While shopping we settled down at a new tent for us. The air conditioning was on and on request it was set a little warmer. The cappuccino was not great and I ordered Turkish bread with pulled chicken, which was lukewarm and not richly topped. My girlfriend had a chicken wrap with salami. Strange combination and I wouldn't put chicken and pork together. I also thought it took quite a while before we received our order. It also came from 3 floors above where the toilets are, so if you have to pee you have to climb quite a few stairs. We were not pleasantly surprised and will therefore not enter 123 here again.

Were in Alkmaar and wanted to have lunch somewhere. We came across Prego and we sat down there. Very quick service and the food arrived very quickly. Food was also tasty so 5 stars. Good atmosphere too!

Worst place I've been. If I could give zero star, I would.

We walked into town and on the sign I saw a very original sandwich. So when it was 1 pm we walked back for a sandwich of sugar bread with apple syrup, goat cheese, apple and bacon. Super tasty! And therefore extremely original. The other sandwich was with croquette, fried onion, ham, herb butter and melted cheese. Also so original and just as tasty. Absolutely recommended.

Very mediocre cappuccino and an even mediocre sandwich. You can tell from the bean grinder that it spins far too short to grind 8 grams of coffee for a nice espresso, they cut back considerably on this, but do charge 3.15 for a cappuccino, pure fraud if you ask me. The sandwich was supposed to have guacamole and pulled chicken, but all that was visible was a super thin layer of fine green spread and large chunks of tomato. certainly not guacamole. Chicken was very little. I'm typing this while sitting on the toilet with *** 10 hours later so I'm guessing the chicken was too old too. Really bad, but a prime location so people will come. We don't anymore.

The two of us are having lunch here. Asked for a glass of water to take medication. In retrospect, the receipt showed that this glass of municipal water had simply been included in the calculation. What I thought: what good service, turned out to be a missed opportunity. Such a shame, how sad 🙈

Delicious food. Only the toilets are 3 high. That's not nice . And hangs a terry cloth towel. Not so hygienic.

Nice lunch for a fair price. The map is surprising and deviates from trends. The daily special was delicious! A daring combination that caught our attention while passing by and tasted very good! Nice service and a beautiful terrace.

Extremely arrogant person who welcomed us, we had already had lunch with various things purchased at the Friday market, and we went in for a quick coffee break but the lady immediately had a rude attitude. We were stunned. We can't judge the food having not eaten anything. But this lady's behavior was really bad.

What an arrogant place this is... if you pay 25 euros for 2 sandwiches and tap water with syrup, you get a bald Karen who watches your fingers, is very arrogant and has no decency. Even 1 star too many

Beef sausage sandwich. The beef sausage was so thin that you could hardly taste the beef sausage. Sandwich was also not freshly baked and rather old. I wanted to take a cookie with my tea, but it was so old that it pulverized between my fingers. The lady serving was friendly but could have used some deodorant. Not to be repeated.

Rude personal. As it’s only one person of my family wanted to drink coffee, another one was not allowed to visit the toilet. Madness

Was a mixed experience. To begin; the coffee is not good. The food was all right, but nothing out of the ordinary. You would expect from a place like this that they serve better coffee. The place was very busy (it was a Saturday which is to be expected), however there were only 2 ladies working. It felt like it was too much for them as we had to wait quite a bit. One of the ladies was very friendly, however the other older one seemed very grumpy.

food looked alright, coffee was not good though. Asked for oat milk, not sure if they gave me that, cappuccino didn’t have any foam and was way to hot, especially for oat milk, the milk was burned. Wouldn’t come here for coffee again

6 year old daughter had to go to the toilet. This cost 50 cents, no problem, but pay first and then pee. Grumpy staff with short hair who held us back while my daughter almost wet herself. She went upstairs independently and I paid. Grumpy indicated that it was my problem that she had to pee and not hers. She said this in an offensive and angry tone, while the restaurant was listening. Once upstairs (3 steep stairs) the toilet was very dirty and there was feces in the toilet, the entire toilet was also wet. No goodbyes or thanks, madam, not at all guest friendly, let alone child friendly. Never going there again, yuck!!

I give 1 star because I can't give less, but this restaurant is not worthy of a single star. We ordered hot chocolate with whipped cream and an egg roll with carpaccio and an omelette, the chocolate milk was from a bag with whipped cream from a spray can! And the bouncer and omelette were really unedible on old bread. And we had to pay 26 euros. When we said something about it, they said we would pass it on to the kitchen! and when I got home half an hour later I got intestinal complaints that I normally don't have after eating a snack. We will never come here again and will certainly not recommend it

A missed opportunity. Hospitality… that is still a bit difficult for these people. But…. Fortunately, there are many nice places to grab a bite to eat nearby!

Had a lovely seat here at Prego, an excellent place for people watching. Very friendly service, not a long wait and correct treatment. The quality of the food could be much better: the two croquettes were not hot inside and the old cheese was not old enough. The honey mustard sauce looked suspiciously like something I know from a bottle. At a table next to us, certain products were not hot enough, which led to a form of dissatisfaction that we could hear loud and clear. Conclusion: the waiter girl belongs in a better quality catering establishment.

Enjoy lunch in this picturesque restaurant. Toilets are up three flights of stairs, but an arrangement has been made with the adjacent HEMA for disabled people to be able to use the toilet. Very tasty sandwich with salmon!

We were helped quickly, but the staff was not very cheerful and friendly. We ordered 4 drinks and received 2 dirty glasses, both with a lot of water in them and 1 with lipstick still on the top.

Very bad and unfriendly service. We had to wait over an hour for our hamburger and fries. In the end you get a very dry mini hamburger which is certainly not worth the money and the long wait. Staff hang around very disinterestedly behind the counter while there are empty glasses on every table. You have to ask for a new drink yourself.

Service (by the owner) is very guest unfriendly. Far too jovial. We were called to from behind the bar. Hope you're not in a hurry because the kitchen is busy. Four people had just placed an order before us. What do you mean, busy, the rest of the restaurant was empty. And now I understand why it was empty; It was very cold there. Both the temperature is 18 degrees in winter. There's a draft everywhere. But the atmosphere was also quite cold. The food is very bad. Supermarket bread that should pass as country bread. Salmon with dried out edges. Clumsy preparation of some lettuce with a sugar sauce and then a dry bitterbal. Really not edible!! Definitely not worth the money. Upstairs it is downright dirty and tired. The three-man staff is joking and joking while washing the dishes. Toilets that don't work and don't flush so you see the feces of the previous guests. Truly a lunchroom where you wouldn't even want to eat if you were offered money. Never again for us!!! Be warned and don't eat here.

Delicious lunch on a rainy Sunday afternoon! Beautiful restaurant, atmospheric, fast and friendly service. Upon entering I was greeted by the staff, who made me feel welcome. I ordered a sandwich, it was delicious!

Ordered a carpaccio sandwich and asked for it without dried tomatoes and lettuce. What do I get in addition to the things on the menu on the sandwich, a sandwich with cucumber, potato salad, strange strings, onion and pineapple. This is not on the map. In addition to the kilo of cheese, the carpaccio was completely missing. If you put all these ingredients on the sandwich, put this on the menu too!!

I found this restaurant after leaving the cheese market. The main reason is that it is very bright at the corner. The hot coffee and hot chocolate are delicious. The tomato soup is very real and thick. A large cup will fill you up. The beef is also delicious and the price is reasonable. I recommend it.

Cozy lunchroom, food was also tasty. The only downside was that you have to go up 3 flights of stairs to get to the toilet, so that was not the case. I was advised to go to Hema. Difficult because it is a bit further away.

Extensive menu, which has its advantages and disadvantages. That large menu means that little can be prepared, which in turn means a longer waiting time. This was clearly noticeable after we placed the order. When I finally got the sandwich, I didn't agree with the amount of pulled pork that was on my sandwich. After I informed the waiter, they took my plate back. And got a dish where the proportions were more correct. This caused us to sit for a long time. In my opinion, the waiter did not ask enough whether we were satisfied and whether we wanted something to drink. The handling of my complaint was good, but I think I will choose a different case next time.

Went there with my daughter, and ordered the same burger as my daughter. The order was processed incorrectly and I received nothing. In 10 minutes I would still get my burger. When I got my burger after more than 20 minutes, the salad was extremely smaller than my daughter's. Mine also didn't contain any fresh fruit, while the first two pieces contained fresh pineapple. The owner came by and I reported this. She went to talk to the staff but then did not explain why there was a difference in the burgers. A strange way to act! Not really customer friendly.

Small café in the middle of the city of Alkmaar... we only had cocoa with cream. But we saw that there are also cakes and other little things. Good for a little break from shopping stress...

Friendly service and a delicious cake.

It's been so long since we first went to the Cheese Market in our childhood and even then my memory fails me, I really don't remember which restaurant we used to go to for something to eat and drink. When we got married later, we went to the Cheese Market again and then we decided to have something to eat at Lunchroom Prego. A very simple choice, we didn't know it. The word lunchroom won us over. Then it might be light and fresh food and hopefully not that expensive, those were the considerations. We were not disappointed. We had a nice meal and drinks. We did not receive any unsavory or spoiled food, nor did we take carpaccio. But jokingly, if it is as the guest says, there should have been a very different response to this, so unsavory or spoiled food is really not allowed. We do not have that experience, and the service was extremely friendly and helpful to us. We didn't notice anything from a grumpy owner either. We sat on the terrace, the weather was nice. You can also sit upstairs and have a nice view over the square, provided you sit by the window.

What bad service! Service was fine, but the owner or manager really doesn't understand anything about catering. After a complaint about spoiled carpaccio, you have to pay half of your sandwich because you have already eaten it... No chance!

Terrible. Ordered a carpaccio sandwich but received a sandwich filled with whole slices of cheese with a layer of carpaccio, a yogurt dressing and on top a piece of watermelon and pineapple sprinkled with pesto. After a few bites I was gagging. Worse than this was the service. I politely reported this and asked if there was a solution, but I was told that they could not just throw it away or take it out of the cash register and that I could not order anything new. I refused to eat any more so I immediately gave it up. My companion ate some more of her vitello tonnato sandwich, but left it because the 'tuna' was at most next to real tuna. Ultimately we paid full price for a sandwich of which I had barely eaten 3 bites and my partner found it impossible to eat either. The owner thought her reaction was nothing more than normal and hoped to see us again. So I don't think so. Worst experience ever. Save yourself irritation and misery and don't go here.

Nice place to have a cup of coffee or lunch. Located centrally in the shopping street, so it can be busy. Do have a terrace.

Expect 35-40 minutes to be served. ( I looked around and other tables also took that long) Everything on the menu seemed tasty. I was doubting between salmon salad or a burger, so I went for a salmon burger. Unfortunately, it was a terrible decision. It was extremely salty, didn't taste like salmon, and I didn't see or taste that wishkey sauce that was supposed to have. Couldn't finish it because it was too much salt. The lettuce of the burger was old. The salad wasn't real salad but what you can see on the picture, and it wasn't specified on the menu, so it was very disappointing as I was expecting to eat some salad. After all, I was glad I pairs the extra 2,50€ for the small amount of fries, since fries can never be bad. Well, also some fries were so hard that I couldn't eat them with the fork. The waitresses were nice tho.

A good deal, very cozy. Service is very friendly. The breads/sandwiches are wonderful and the bitterballen are the best I've had so far.

Most everything in old town Alkmaar doesn't open til noon on Sundays so while walking around this beautiful town, we came across this place. The menu items looked delicious and we were starving so we came in for a bite. They have menus in English, just ask for it. Along with my double coffe (€3,50), I also had the three eggs on a bed of ham, cheese and your choice of white or brown country bread (or rolls) with a side of fresh vegetables (€6,95). The hubbie had pork filet special on brown country bread with salad and side of satay sauce (€7,95). I don't know if it's because we were starving but our meals were much larger than we expected and probably one of the biggest meals we've had the entire time here in Amsterdam. The food was delicious as we devoured it in minutes and cleaned our plates. The price is extremely reasonable (its cheap!) compared to most other restaurants. The staff here is very friendly and speak English as well. The restaurant is clean with plenty of seating in the dining area. Travel cheap, eat cheap! :)
