Had a delicious meal on the terrace. The rhubarb with the schnitzel was a nice surprise! I’ve tried it here and there, but this is the first rhubarb I’ve really liked. Kudos 🏆 You can tell the terrace is on a busy road with a lot of tractor traffic. That can get quite noisy at times. But this is Ruinen, so it’s just part of the experience.

Drinks are very expensive, €4.30 for a 0.00 beer, and we had asked for a carafe of water for €2, but they put down a bottle of spring water for €7.60. This is not how it should be.

Beautiful place but terrible staff (except for one girl). Drinks arrived when we were already eating; a comment about this was not well received with the response ‘we are busy’, and inside you were chased away to have to pay outside. I understand that you are busy, but don't let the customer notice that. After all, they also play around with the price of a pancake...

Overall, the food was fine, although I did find a pancake with gyros very pricey. The taste was good. The staff is very friendly and the location is beautiful.

Go to GaWapen if you want to eat really well. Ate at the Grand Café "t Wapen van Ruinen" yesterday. Service and quality were better there. The meat carpaccio was warm... Chicken dish overpriced. Ambiance dated. Cushion full of stains. The food isn't tasty. Young staff who don't care about anything. Lots of children because they also serve pancakes.

We savored the tastiest mustard soup in ages, with crispy bacon bits (thankfully not too much) and spring onions. You could also see and taste the mustard seeds! My partner's apple pie was also delicious and incredibly fresh! We will be back soon for a bite to eat, because the rest of the menu looked very promising too! We have already been a few times with the children and grandchildren. But recently, it didn't quite work out! A hot day; a full terrace; but unfortunately, the wait staff were standing with their backs to the terrace and busy with their own small talk. A pity!

Nice terrace to sit on. Good food too. The service was very attentive at the beginning, but after the food was served it soon dropped, especially after dessert. It took a while before someone came by again.. otherwise highly recommended!

You can taste that it is made with care and attention. The flavor, texture, and generous filling make this one of the tastiest apple pies I have eaten in a long time. Perfect in combination with a good cup of coffee. Additionally, the staff deserves a big compliment. The employees are friendly, helpful, and genuinely hospitable. You are warmly received and immediately feel welcome. Even when it is busy, they remain attentive and ensure that guests want for nothing. The quality of the food and drinks is excellent, and everything is served with neat care. Whether you stop by for a short break during a bike ride or want to enjoy a full meal, Restaurant Luning knows how to offer a pleasant experience. In short: an excellent location along various cycling routes, a lovely terrace, fantastic homemade apple pie, and exceptionally friendly staff make Restaurant Luning a place you will love to return to. Ordered a farmer's pancake, but it turned out to be just a normal pancake with mushrooms, onions, and bacon bits on top. Severely disappointed; anyone can serve a pancake like that. You expect a bit more from a pancake farm. I mentioned it and was told I should have asked. We are never coming back here!

Nice location, the food is good. I would recommend putting those small fans on the tables as there is a lot of trouble with flies.

Watch out for the incredibly cheeky sparrows that storm the table as soon as anything edible appears. The apple pie was not fresh; the crust was soggy. Acceptable for apple pie.

A very fine restaurant, good service that is efficiently organized. Our tip: the Egg Royal. A rich, aged brioche bread with eggs, fresh salmon, and a whipped hollandaise sauce. Delicious.

Dinner with the family: the food was excellent. A cozy atmosphere, too. Tasty beers on tap. The service is fine, but could be a bit more personal to really make it a party.

I am a vegetarian, so I ordered the beetroot. I received a whole, small beetroot with a few pieces of vegetables in sauce. The beetroot wasn't tasty, a bit grainy. I didn't finish it either; they came to ask if it tasted good, I gave my honest opinion, and she said she would pass it on to the kitchen. You guessed it, no further response, paid, and left.

We were looking for a pancake, but they have more, and it is very tasty. The farmer's schnitzel is highly recommended.

We simply had a good meal at fair prices. Dining out with the family, with a nice outdoor play area for the children. Beautiful accommodation and right in the center. We are not from around here (North Holland section). But we definitely recommend this place. The atmosphere and setting are more than fine.

Charming restaurant in the heart of Ruinen, we had a delicious meal there. The menu isn't extensive, but it offers something for everyone. My all-time favorite, spare ribs, came in a truly generous portion of deliciously tender ribs. Other dishes are also generously sized. The smooth and very friendly service completes the meal. Highly recommended!

Located in the center of the picturesque village of Ruinen, it's a great place for lunch. Delicious 12-hour fish with shrimp croquettes and excellent mustard soup. Friendly staff, and everything was served hot for 9 people at once!

Enjoyed a lovely meal on the terrace with a variety of snacks. The menu is extensive, offering lunch, snacks, and dinner. A beautiful and charming location on the village green.

We were spoken to shamefully like children because we unsuspectingly sat down at an empty table. This behavior is truly ridiculous; if I were in charge, I'd give her a good talking to. The rest of the staff is incredibly nice. The food is fantastic!

We sat on the patio for 20 minutes, in the corner next to the restaurant entrance. Everyone is outside because the weather is nice, but the patio isn't overcrowded. (Too bad I can't add the photo.) We're not helped. The people next to us are also surprised that they're constantly looking over and around us. Other people who sit down after us are helped. After 20 minutes, we wonder what's going to happen when we ask for the bill! We have to shout really loudly at a young blond boy, but he finally sees us and immediately tells us someone will be right there with us. After another 5 minutes of waiting, still no one comes. The boy hasn't said anything inside. Before we decide to leave, one of us walks in and tells an older waitress, right at the front of the restaurant, that it's strange that we're not being helped and that we're leaving. The only response is, "Oh." An apology doesn't seem that hard to come by, but apparently it is. The little boy sees us leaving but doesn't have the guts to ask if anyone has been there yet. We don't need that "sorry." But we do want a response from this restaurant about why! I wonder if that will work...

I have no idea what the food tastes like. The terrace is nice, but the service acts as if you're not there. The staff clearly has no experience in the hospitality industry and don't see the work/revenue. I say it's a missed opportunity for them. Reading the other reviews, I think I was there on the wrong day, or they're all familiar with the restaurant. Next summer, maybe!

A very unpleasant experience at Luning. I ordered croquettes with bread twice and received shrimp croquettes instead of beef. I have a fish allergy, so they could have swapped the croquettes, but then I had nothing to eat while my husband was already eating. The bread was stale, and the salad wasn't fresh. We received an apology, but we couldn't even afford a free drink. All in all, a bad experience.

We are big fans of this restaurant and regularly go there for lunch. We went there for dinner this time; one order hadn't reached the kitchen, I received my food first and the other three people got nothing. After a while, I just went to eat because it was taking a really long time. Then the other two received their food, and a little later, a message came that the food for the fourth person hadn't reached the kitchen. I had finished my food when the food for the fourth person arrived. Not what we're used to from this restaurant! What a letdown when you rave about the restaurant to your guests, but the service that evening is just plain awful, typically Dutch. We weren't even noticed when we wanted to order drinks. That really bothers me. No apologies or anything like that either. This was last Friday, August 22nd. My wife even left a tip, unbelievable!

The food tastes good, the service is attentive, there is a playhouse (playground for children), a children's menu, and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere.

Lovely place for lunch with a top-notch menu! The food and atmosphere deserve a solid 5 out of 5! The service was also friendly, with the exception of Kirsten, who was curt and unhelpful. The question of whether the Chef's Platter could be served fish-free was answered bluntly with: "We do not make adjustments." A pity, but we can still (somewhat) understand that. There was no decent answer to the question about what kind of fish, even when she walked to the kitchen to inquire about the dishes. A missed opportunity!

The saying "a little goes a long way" doesn't apply to this restaurant. It's beautiful and well-located, but the food itself is very meager. Two main courses, and you get half a bag of fries for two adults. The most annoying thing was the water bottle. Unsealed, lukewarm, and possibly real tap water. I also got a strange look when I asked if I could take the water bottle with me, since I'd paid for it. 80 euros plus for 4 ice teas, a cheeseburger, a steak (very small), two children's plates of pancakes, and a 700ml bottle of presumably tap water.

We came here for lunch. The caprese sandwich was delicious. We had hoped the goat cheese would have melted, but otherwise the sandwich was good. The atmosphere is nice, but the staff wasn't very enthusiastic.

The pancakes were delicious. It was a shame the restaurant was full of people bringing their dogs. They started growling and barking at each other. I didn't want that.

The dessert was also delicious. I even popped into the kitchen myself to compliment the chefs. Sincerely, the Amsterdamers (I've also been an assistant chef, so I really know what good food is 😊 )

We had a good meal and plenty to choose from. From pancakes to steak or tender braised beef. The beer menu is also nicely extensive. When the weather is nice, you can enjoy sitting outside on the terrace. When the weather is bad, you can sit inside just fine. We stayed for two days and, just to be safe, we made reservations for both days.
