Beautiful, relaxing and definitely delicious!!!

Cozy setting and delicious food! The service wasn't great; you could tell the young staff were trying hard, but still lacked some bite and experience. The carpaccio was very good! The main course, the beefsteak, is highly recommended, although the vegetables were still a bit hard. Desserts were good but a bit pricey. Everything was beautifully presented with an eye for detail. Overall, a pleasant evening, although there are a few things that could improve MAUD.

Yesterday invited for dinner at Maud, what a great restaurant this is! Great ambiance, delicious food and also super friendly service. Will definitely come back here more often!

Really beautiful inside, concept carried through everywhere, completely finished. Warm atmosphere. Friendly neat service and again some different flavors in terms of food. Small menu, good food. (Could be more spicy for me, but maybe that's taste.) We will definitely come back!

Yesterday evening we had dinner at Maud's in Berkelaar for the first time in a long time. What a feast it was again. Great job! Keep it up. And keep the tajine on the menu.

Good food with a lot of variety.

Helaas een hele grote teleurstelling. We hadden al eens eerder bij Maud genoten van een heerlijke lunch. De menukaart en sfeer in het restaurant beloven originele smaakvolle gerechten. Ook door recensies (met foto's) op diverse sites hadden we hoge verwachtingen van dit mooie restaurant. We hebben ons de moeite genomen om meer dan een half uur te rijden naar Echt...wilden ons eens lekker laten verwennen op een rustige zondagavond; en kozen voor het 4 gangen verassingsmenu van 50 euro per persoon. Op de kaart staat..combi van vis , vlees en vega.Menu alleen per tafel te bestellen.Een week vantevoren hadden wij reeds mijn dieetbeperkingen/ allergie doorgegeven. Onze verrassing was : Voorgerecht : koude, gerookte makreel met 1 groene asperge en fijngesneden salade. Prima gerecht..lekker. Het tussen gerecht echter...: koude, gerookte, eend met exact dezelfde topping (!) , zonder asperge, maar met enkele selderij blokjes. ( op kaart met edamame). De smaken en struktuur waren nagenoeg hetzelfde...heel jammer.... Was dit een gevalletje " restverwerking" ? We hebben dit ook gelijk eerlijk als vriendelijke opmerking mee gegeven. Antwoord..dan hoop ik dat wij u gaan verrassen met het hoofdgerecht.....?! Dat hoofdgerecht bestond uit "steak" , frietjes met mayonaise, en wat gebakken groenten. Goed... maar écht niet bijzonder.Er werd ons ook niet gevraagd of we medium, rare, done, wensten. Maar OK ..tot dusver...niet fantastisch...maar de gerechten waren OK. De allergrootste teleurstelling, de echte afknapper, kwam echter bij het nagerecht....4 kleine bolletjes vanille ijs met slagroom en 1 kannetje warme chocolade saus ! Nog niet eens de chocolade schotsen erbij als op de menukaart. Ons fantasieloze vanille ijs is helaas grotendeels weer retour keuken gegaan...geen reactie van bediening.. Zelfs mijn man heeft het toetje niet opgegeten....dat heeft hij nog nóóit gedaan..... Voor de vorm, om de sfeer aan tafel goed te houden, heb ik slagroom en chocolade saus gegeten. Ik eet nooit ijs.. laat dat bolletje ook altijd liggen bij de "samengestelde" desserts in restaurants. Fijn als je een dame blanche (het goedkoopste, fantasieloze, dessert) op je kaart hebt staan, voor mensen die er voor kiezen... maar wel erg (te) gemakkelijk voor een verrassingsmenu...terwijl er chocolade taartje of kataifi op de kaart staat. Dit toetje gaf mij in ieder geval het gevoel dat ik net zo goed naar van der Valk had kunnen rijden.Een domper op onze " culinaire" avond. Alle gerechten uit het verrassingsmenu staan gewoon op de menukaart...en hadden we ook los kunnen bestellen. Wij hadden geen verrassingsmenu, maar 4 gerechten van de kaart ( soms met een ietsje kleine variatie) , met een goede korting....Geef mensen niet de illusie dat je een mooi verrassingsmenu hebt, maar geef gewoon korting als iedereen aan tafel hetzelfde bestelt ! Op basis van al die fantastische beoordelingen...prachtige foto's, en onze ervaring bij lunch hadden wij toch wel iets heel anders verwacht. Klaarblijkelijk, ook na het lezen van meer recensies, loop je het risico bij Maud dat je eetervaring óf fantastisch wordt...óf een grote teleurstelling. Ik hou niet van gokken, en kan mijn geld maar een keer uitgeven... Heel erg jammer....wij eten niet meer bij Maud.....voor een mooi avondje "uit" verwacht ik iets anders , dan even ergens snel een "hapje eten".... er zijn nog zoveel betere restaurants in de regio. Ik heb hiervan geleerd : ik zal in de toekomst gewoon vooraf vragen wat op tafel komt bij een verrassingsmenu....zodat ik in ieder geval niet meer zo onaangenaam verrast wordt. Ik geef deze negatieve recensie niet om achteraf te klagen. Wij hebben ter plekke eerlijk ons gevoel kenbaar gemaakt. Helaas is daar niets mee gedaan... Met deze recensie wil ik mensen behoeden voor eenzelfde teleurstelling. Met de kwaliteit van de afzonderlijke gerechten was echter niets mis.

Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. We had already enjoyed a delicious lunch at Maud's. The menu and the restaurant's atmosphere promised original, flavorful dishes. We also had high expectations for this lovely restaurant, based on reviews (with photos) on various websites. We took the trouble to drive over half an hour to Echt...we wanted to be pampered on a quiet Sunday evening, and opted for the 4-course surprise menu for €50 per person. The menu includes a combination of fish, meat, and vegetarian. The menu can only be ordered per table. We had already communicated our dietary restrictions/allergies a week in advance. Our surprise was: Starter: cold, smoked mackerel with 1 green asparagus spear and finely chopped salad. A lovely dish...delicious. The intermediate course, however...: cold, smoked duck with the exact same topping (!), without asparagus, but with a few diced celery. (on the menu with edamame). The flavors and texture were almost the same...a real shame... Was this a case of "leftovers"? We also honestly and kindly mentioned this. Answer...then I hope we'll surprise you with the main course...?! That main course consisted of steak, fries with mayonnaise, and some fried vegetables. Tasty...but really nothing special. We weren't even asked if we wanted medium, rare, or done. But OK...so far...not fantastic...but the dishes were OK. The biggest disappointment, the real letdown, however, came with dessert...4 small scoops of vanilla ice cream with whipped cream and a jug of warm chocolate sauce! Not even the chocolate chips as on the menu. Unfortunately, most of our unimaginative vanilla ice cream went back to the kitchen. Even my husband didn't finish dessert...he's never done that before... Just for show, to keep the atmosphere at the table good, I had whipped cream and chocolate sauce. I never eat ice cream...I always leave that scoop alone with the "composite" desserts in restaurants. It's nice to have a dame blanche (the cheapest, unimaginative dessert) on your menu for those who choose it...but it's a bit (too) easy for a surprise menu...while there's chocolate cake or kataifi on the menu. This dessert certainly made me feel like I might as well have driven to Van der Valk. It put a dampener on our "culinary" evening. All the dishes from the surprise menu are on the menu...and we could have ordered them separately. We didn't have a surprise menu, but four dishes from the menu (sometimes with a slight variation), with a good discount. Don't give people the illusion that you have a nice surprise menu; just offer a discount if everyone at the table orders the same thing. Based on all those fantastic reviews...and our lunch experience, we expected something completely different. Apparently, even after reading more reviews, you run the risk of your dining experience at Maud being either fantastic...or a huge disappointment. It's a real shame...but we won't be eating at Maud again...for a nice night out, I expect something different than just a quick bite to eat somewhere...there are so many better restaurants in the area. I've learned from this: in the future, I'll simply ask beforehand what will be on the menu with a surprise menu...so I won't be so unpleasantly surprised again. I'm not giving this negative review to complain afterward. We honestly expressed our feelings on the spot. With this review, I want to protect people from the same disappointment. However, the quality of the individual dishes was excellent.

Delicious dinner tonight, service very friendly and helpful. Quality/price ratio is good. Compliments to the chef! Maud is doing well! We will definitely come back, greetings Frans.

De zondagse lunch deden we vandaag bij Maud in Berkelaar, vlakbij Echt. Bij binnenkomst valt meteen het fraaie, smaakvolle interieur op. Heel bijzonder en warm. Ook het serviesgoed past heel goed in de sfeer, hier is echt aan alles gedacht. Dan de lunchkaart: voor elck wat wils maar ik mag de garnalenkroketten toch wel van harte aanbevelen. Heerlijk! We hebben hier een heel aangename anderhalf uur mogen vertoeven met een lekker huiswijntje erbij en een voortreffelijke kop koffie als afsluiter. Top Maud!

Tasty lunch in a beautiful and warm environment

Upon entering you immediately have the feeling that you are in a cozy warm living room, where Maud takes your coat and guides you to your table. We started with a starter, which consisted of serrano ham, olives with Moroccan herbs, butter with garam masala and delicious brown bread. We both had the pork dumplings with raw vegetable salad, pickled bundle mushroom, sesame, cream stock, onion and soy. As a main course, my wife had the chicken from the tagine with lentils, red curry, sweet potato, legumes, hummus, pomegranate and a poached egg. I personally had the tenderloin with truffle gravy, potato gratin, mushroom duxelles, parsnip cream, shallot chutney and pecan nut. I am a big fan of tenderloin myself, but this was by far the best tenderloin I have ever eaten. I.c.m. I had the red Garnacha wine as a main course which was really delicious! For dessert, my wife had the apple pie 2.0 with apple tarte tatin, cinnamon crumble, eggnog raisin cream and burnt butter ice cream. I had the mango with dark chocolate cream, mango cremeux, passion fruit brittle, candied chili and coconut yogurt ice cream. And especially those chili shavings completed this dessert. Besides the delicious ice cream, you could taste the tang of the chili in the distance. This was worldly! With 5 wines, 2 coffees and a glass of cognac we paid €168. An excellent price for what we ate. You really have to go here! The chef's menu is seasonal and changes every week. The map changes every 2 months. Maud gained 2 regular customers tonight. We will definitely return here. The food, the wines, the friendly staff. Here they get it!

Worth the detour for. Simple lunch menu with enough variety. Quiet and friendly service. A restaurant to relax and catch up. Price quality is reasonable. Highly recommended. Plenty of parking.

Locatie top, inrichting geweldig, akoestiek luidruchtig door 2 grote groepen. Voorgerecht ham met olijven lekker. Carpaccio oke . Black angus met groenten en friet. Smaak redelijk , portie te klein zowel van het vlees als ook de groentjes en de frietjes. Dame blanche goed, jammer dat het eenvoudig geserveerd wordt in een kommetje. 2 keer moeten vragen voor het drinken.

Zes weken na ons eerste bezoek aan Maud al opnieuw gereserveerd. Ditmaal waren wij er samen met een bevriend stel. We waren zeer tevreden over ambiance, verzorging, en kwaliteit van de gerechten. Aan onze zijde genoten we van de Tajine Kip en van Roodbaars. En wat is Maud toch een bijzonder warme gastvrouw. “Wederom garantie voor terugkom!”

Looking for something for lunch on the way back from Roermond. Wow, so glad we found this! The only downside was that we had to wait a very long time for our food, otherwise top top top!

A lovely atmospheric restaurant. Started with a homemade drink and three courses and wine for 1 person because I was the BOB myself. Very customer friendly and definitely recommended. Pleasantly surprised and will definitely come back again.

Very special restaurant with an eye for detail, especially the interior was very surprising and special, the service and staff were very friendly and hospitable, there is a relaxed atmosphere and it is pleasant to dine in this restaurant. We opted for the 2 course surprise menu, the dishes were of good taste, smoked mackerel starter, my wife's main course beautifully pink baked salmon fillet and I had a nice piece of beef, wonderfully tender and perfectly cooked, I did miss some creativity. the choice of garnishes for both starter and main course, fine in taste but not really surprising for a surprise menu. Nevertheless, we enjoyed it and can definitely recommend this restaurant!

Dankzij de Navenant Restaurantgids 2024 in Berkelaar bij Echt terecht gekomen. Gastvrouw Maud Urlings (naar wie de uitspanning vernoemd is) ontvangt hartelijk. De keuze is ruim. De medewerkers zijn vriendelijk. Het interieur is bijzonder, tegelijk strak en warm. We gokken erop, dat de ontwerper ervan( Carola van der Weide) wel eens in Marokko geweest is voor haar inspiratie. En dan natuurlijk het gebodene. Eerst een tapas-gang met ham en gemarineerde olijven, humus, en rode tapenade. Dan de tabouleh met falafel en de Udon noedel karaage kip. Bij dit laatste gerecht laten we bij de kok navragen waar de beloofde taugé is gebleven. We kiezen verder voor de dorade met spitskool, bimi en wortel, alsmede voor de tajine kip. En het moet gezegd: ook zonder taugé heeft dit ons goed gesmaakt. Komen we nog terug? Ik denk en hoop van wel!

First time today Super friendly hole woman The food took a bit of a wait, but it was well worth it. How delicious, I had pork on naan bread and my wife had a sandwich, never had my son had a delicious sandwich. The bread together with the old cheese and super tasty ham. Perfect Add 2 freshly squeezed orange juice and 2 super tasty cappochino.

Had a delicious meal at Maud's last night. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Very flexible due to dietary requirements. Top! The place is a bit noisy due to bare concrete walls and high ceilings. I would hang canvases here. Otherwise very tasteful decor.

Delicious food! We enjoyed the 3-course surprise menu (without meat). Surprising and well cared for! Too bad we don't live nearby, otherwise we would probably go back to try some of the food on the menu. We certainly received hospitable and friendly service in a very attractive atmosphere! After reading good reports, the two of us had dinner here. The atmosphere upon entering is nice! The service seems to be understaffed because it took us 30 minutes before we got our first drink. Chose a 3 course surprise menu. The starter was disappointing, unfortunately not much taste. The entree included asparagus, which was still as hard as a raw carrot. The meat of the main course was far too well cooked, a really dry piece and for this reason it was not eaten. The above was also indicated, but nothing was done about it. The wines were tasty. Talking to each other was very difficult because there was a loud larger group and the concrete ceiling and hard floor did not muffle this sound. We may have been unlucky with a number of things, but for the price you can expect better.

Had lunch here twice with varying experiences. To start positively: the interior is cool, with an industrial touch. Nice atmosphere! The first time I had lunch here I had a delicious meal (club sandwich), and everything was to my liking. Then the less positive things: the second time went slightly less well. We had to wait almost 1.5 hours for our lunch (salad) to be delivered. Some ingredients were forgotten in the salad, which were on the menu. I don't think the price you have to pay for a salad (18 euros!) is in proportion to what you get: incomplete and relatively little. Everyone was still hungry afterwards. We also don't understand why it had to take 1.5 hours to make a simple salad. The bread that came with the salad was tasty but relatively little and came with a simple pre-packed tub of butter. Something like herb butter or allioli and/or olive oil would have been better, especially for the price you paid. The service is friendly and helpful, but she is all alone for both the restaurant inside and the terrace outside. I also think there was only 1 person in the kitchen. This may explain why it took so long.

Visited on the advice of acquaintances and stopped by for lunch on spec. Fortunately, there is still 1 table available. Delicious food and friendly service in a beautifully decorated environment. Will come back here more often!

We chose a surprise 4-course menu and we were advised a good bottle of wine. The food was delicious, unique combinations and tasty. The staff was very nice and polite. The only drawback was the acoustics, you could hear the buzz of everyone talking, glasses and cutlery clinking, doors closing. Not nice for me.

Thank you very much for an unforgettable evening. We were there early, which didn't bother Maud at all. The restaurant wasn't open yet but she said come in and have a drink. The food was simply to die for. We had the surprise menu and it was simply incredibly tasty. We reserved again straight away. Thank you for this experience.

Mooie sfeervolle en rustige eetgelegenheid. We hebben er 2 x geluncht en het was echt lekker. Wat voor ons beide malen storend was is dat de bediening lang op zich laat wachten en traag op gang komt.

We waren voor het eerst bij Maud…..via via aanbevolen. Warm persoonlijk welkom, en wat een mooi interieur……mooie mix, zoals verwoord op de Site van Maud; niet teveel over geschreven. Geef je ogen ff de kost… We lieten ons verrassen door een drie gangen verrassingsmenu ; voor , tussen en hoofdgerecht. Wat ‘n feest zeg. Gestart met ‘n heerlijk bokbiertje, wit wijntje, brood en kerryboter….. En het eten was heerlijk, vers , verrassend, tongstrelend. Samen met lekkere rode wijn ; Merlot en Rioja Eigenlijk was het te snel voorbij, we hadden iets meer tijd moeten nemen tussen de gerechten! We gaan er zeker terug komen, met vrienden of met z’n tweetje; we kunnen het zeker warm aanbevelen.

Het 4 gangen menu was voor treffelijk het was heel warm en benauwd die avond en toch was alles super....

Met een kleine omweg op de terugweg naar huis na een mini-vakantie in Limburg dit plekje opgezocht. En wat was het de moeite waard! Heerlijke lunch, rijkelijk belegde broodjes en vriendelijk personeel. Het interieur zowel binnen als buiten sprak ons ook erg aan. Beveel het zeker aan!

Vandaag 1e keer voor de lunch, is voor herhaling vatbaar.

Wat een mooie lokatie, wat een geweldig ingericht restaurant, wat een prettige bediening. Van servet tot servies, van inrichting tot menu, zeker aan te bevelen.

Een sfeervol geheel, met heerlijk eten. Tip , ik ben zelf keramist en het servies is op. Ik zou ook bang zijn dat er afgebroken stukjes in het eten komen en degene die het gemaakt heeft heeft het slecht gebakken.

hallo Maud we zijn vrijdag 26 Mei bij jou wezen eten met 5 personen en waren zeer tevreden over de inrichting en het lekkere eten en bediening een al top ga zo door we komen zeker een keer terug. groetjes Saskia en Will uit Maasbracht.

Echt subliem gegeten. Uniek in deze omgeving. Ik kan het iedereen aanraden!

Verrassend interieur. Aardige kaart. Leuke bediening. Helaas kleiine glaasjes wijn voor het geld.

Leuk ingericht restaurant; warm en gezellig. Eigenaresse (Maud) is erg vriendelijk en gastvrij. Toen wij er hebben gegeten was alleen Maud en de chefkok als personeel aanwezig en de zaak zat vol. Niets van de onderbezetting gemerkt; alles verliep gesmeerd!. Verrassingsmenu is goedkoop voor wat je krijgt; super lekkere (streek)producten en ruime porties. Echt een aanrader als je in de buurt van Echt bent!

Lekkere sfeer, rustig en overzichtelijk. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. We namen een verrassingsmenu en dat was voortreffelijk. Heerlijke sukade, en probeer ook de sgroppino: zalig! Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar!

Heerlijk gelunched, enorme vriendelijke bediening maar vooral een super leuke kaart, eens iets anders dan anders maar wouw wat lekker! Een explosie van smaak door het gebruik van oosterse kruiden maar alle ingrediënten goed en verassend op elkaar afgestemd! Daarnaast een hele fijne en unieke sfeer!

Heerlijk gegeten in een sfeervolle omgeving. Een top ervaring!

Helaas, een tournedos medium/rare te verdoorbakken en ook nog niet mals, met holle frieten in oud vet gebakken… En het naanbrood, was ‘vettig’… hoort droog te zijn! De rest was smakelijk en goed verzorgd !

Being around the world, this restaurant is sticking out. Great atmosphere good food. Very friendly people full focus on the customer! Only remark don't serve standard french fries but use sweet potato to give it that extra. For the rest great place!
