Melly's StroopWafels in Burgwallen-Nieuwe Zijde

It was warm and fresh. One serving was 7 euros, which is a large portion for one person. It tasted good and satisfied a sweet tooth, but it's not a dessert we'd choose often; it's quite heavy.

Pretty standard. They have pre-made cookies and they're no different from any other you'd find in Amsterdam.

Absolutely brilliant Stroopwaffle workshop. Welcoming and friendly host in a lovely family business. The Stroopwaffles tasted incredible and we got a beautiful keep sake tin to take them home in. Would highly recommend to everyone visiting Amsterdam!

It's good, but... the service wasn't. We asked if they would be hot and received an unfriendly "should be". They weren't hot. They aren't made to order. There are better options in the city for the price - €7 each, for those looking for freshly made and melted caramel.

This is easily one of the best experiences available in Amsterdam, and completely under the radar. The kids loved it, the adults loved it, the stroopwaffels were delicious, and everyone at Melly's was super friendly and helpful. It's just a matter of time before they grow out of their current shop.

Lovely little shop who specialises in stroopwafels with different toppings like bounty. They have medium size and large ones , with offers on toms of 10. Amazing flavours from these stroopwafels.

Delicious stroopwafels, we had the one with marshmallows and one with pistachio, the smaller size is perfect as a delight which makes you want more! Bought a few packs of original stroopwafels for my friends, the staff nicely offered us more paper bags for gifting!

Do you like StroopWafels 🧇? You know, the thin 🇳🇱 Dutch waffles with syrup in the middle? I'm totally aware they are like the most unhealthy treats (if only there were honey 🍯 instead of syrup!) but... I love them! 😋 Of course, I couldn't even think about leaving Amsterdam without eating stroopwafels so I looked for a place that sold stroopwafels on Maps. I typed "stroopwafels" and Maps came up with Mely's StroopWafels. In my mind, a stroopwafel is waffle and syrup and nothing else. But there, they sell lots of "fancy" variations, all super expensive. Well, it's not like the original one was cheap either: €7 for 1 piece. That's just crazy. 😳 As I said, I had to try 1 (at least) before I left so, despite the price, we got 1 for the 3 of us. It was good. But I can't say I liked it better than the dry ones you can find in the supermarket. 🤷 Btw, I could have had a fancy one, even for more money, but they were all covered with chocolate. Why?!?! If you know me, you know I think chocolate overtakes everything. And if they want their toppings to stick, why don't they use the syrup? 😔 One cool thing: there were a couple of small tables outside so we could, at least, eat our waffle in proper conditions and the place was cute. Also, the location is convenient for tourists... and I think this is important cause I'd be surprised if any local ever visited this shop. It really seems like a tourist trap to me... . . . It's a very cute little shop. They had warm, freshly baked waffles. You can immediately grab your favorite one, already packaged. Besides the standard size, they also had mini waffles. It was perfect for both tasting and taking as a gift. The taste wasn't heavy at all; I really liked the sugar level. I recommend it.

They have so many different flavours of stroopwaffles here and they were clearly warm and fresh they also have a coffee shop next door so I would recommend buying the waffles then heading next door o eat they with a drink.

We did the stroopwafel making class with George, and it was great. It took about one hour, and we got two stroopwafel of our own. Highly recommended!

One of the most beautiful and best shops in terms of value, quality, and outstanding service.

Great service, stroopwaffles were a little more pricey than normal but very yummy.

Their waffles are delicious (I got an almond waffle). There are two shops next to each other; the first one is just for waffles, and the second one is for coffee and sweets. Get your waffle and then go get your coffee at the other shop. The view is nice, but there are only two tables by the window; the rest of the seating is on the ground floor (below the shop).

My wife and I really enjoyed these wafels. Much better than others we had tasted.

We were looking for a good waffle place in Amsterdam, so we decided to try it. They also host a waffle workshop, where you can join as a couple and create your own product. At the end of the workshop, you'll both enjoy waffles and be given a recipe to make at home. There are many different kinds of waffles, and we got the coconut version. I'm not usually a fan, but here, the waffles are topped with a thin layer of chocolate, and it pairs perfectly. 🤤👌🏻 The shop is very stylishly designed, looks great, and tastes great. We had a very nice baking course with Dash. She gave some historical background and then the baking fun started. Of course we got a recipe and each of us his own giant stroop wafels. Sylke and Ingo from Berlin

I can't imagine visiting Amsterdam without trying a traditional stroopwafel. I grabbed a warm one, and the best one is the plain one. Extremely sweet and filling – perfect :)

Had to try some Stroops when in Amsterdam, and this has to be one of the best ones without a doubt! So good we went back multiple times! Recommend the original and eat it while warm! You’re welcome!

This was an awesome experience! Hands-on learning is always fun, but combining it with my favorite Dutch specialty is an exhilarating event. We took turns making two stroopwafels each in the class. (I ate my first one fresh off the iron grill). I ate my second stroopwafel at the hotel. (I didn't want issues with airport security in the morning.) So grateful for the experience, gift bag, tin box, and recipe card!

Super friendly staff, very good waffles, even available in vegan

It is the typical establishment that makes the typical Amsterdam cookies, and the place where they are cheapest. We bought the small one to try, but the large one is 7.50 euros when in other establishments they ask for 12 euros. There is a big difference and the store is very cool. In addition, they wrap it very well and give you a little bag.

Not jaw cringing sweet— I was afraid it will be too sweet for my taste but it is so good. It was served hot as well. My first stroopwafels was unfortunately ones thats in foil packaging sold in TKmaxx and they’re overly sweet. So when we went to Melly’s I wasn’t sure I wanted to have stroopwafels but my inlaws still bought me one. I had the Biscoff flavored one and it was served hot, it is crisp but not too compact with a little bit of softness when you bite it. We had another stroopwafels in Volendam but it was cold and the waffles are pact tightly together by caramel and its far from what we had at Melly’s.

The stroopwafels were spectacular. They also came in different sizes, something you couldn't find in many places. The price was also slightly cheaper, and they were certainly much better.

The stroopwafels are baked fresh to order, which I liked. I would recommend not adding any topping. The waffles are already very sweet on their own!

Good waffles though overpriced. The staff needs some training, there was a hair ( and she saw it) in my Waffle and she would give a hard time about replacing it. She was “ sorry about that, but there is nothing I can do”. Well it took some convincing and they finally did replace it. Anyway, ok Waffles and like everything in Amsterdam the price is definitely not justified; 7 plus Euros. The coffee was very ordinary as well.

Tried stroopwafles for the first time, hence picked up the original flavour. It was pretty good but it was toooo sweet. One person can eat only half of it at a time. There were other flavours as well, the pistachio looked really attractive but I didn’t go for it. But definitely give it a try!

We popped in to try a stroopwafle and loved it so much we had to go back and try make our own! We were lucky enough that it was just us two on the workshop. Moran was our instructor on the “Stroopwafel Workshop” and did an amazing job telling us the history of Melly’s as well as of the Stroopwafel. Best of all, you get to make 2 of your own waffles which were delicious! Would highly recommend both the café and the workshop as a unique experience in the heart of Amsterdam.

Delicious, warm, and freshly made stroopwafels: truly delicious! Crispy and fragrant on the outside, with a sweet filling that melts in your mouth. A quintessential Amsterdam experience not to be missed. My favorite was the caramel and chocolate one. Highly recommended!

I don’t know if it’s the best stroopwafle in Amsterdam, but what I know is that I’m gonna have huge cravings of them! We tried the Oreo (good) and the lotus (amazing) and they were really good. I think they are a bit pricey (7€ for large one), but I also think this is the average price in the city.

You may try the rest, BUT MELLY'S is the BEST! We found Melly's stroopwafels to be freshest, the most luxurious, the yummiest and the most flavorful strropwafel in Amsterdam. We did try a couple of others and they just didn't reach the bar that Melly's did. Grab a coffee and a stroopwafel and life is good!

You can buy large stroopwafels with different flavours. They were very sweet but delicious. I wish I had bought a coffee too! I also bought stroopwafels to take home as souvenirs. At home, I warmed them on top of my coffee before eating, and they were delicious and gooey.

I was only in Amsterdam for one day, but a freshly baked stroopwafel was a must... I went to Melly's and they had a hand-sized, warm stroopwafel for just under 10 euros for me and a tub of smaller stroopwafel for just under 15 euros for my mom. The fresh stroopwafel was delicious.

Excellent Stroopwafel in small and large sizes

The StroopWafels and cookies at Melly’s were so good my fiancé and I scheduled to do the make-your-own wafel class. George was cheerful and encouraging, and also gave some great local recommendations for things to do that would allow us to enjoy our creations. We’ve been to Amsterdam many times, and Melly’s is definitely a highlight of the visit.

I did this class at the last minute and was lucky to get the last place. I had a lot of fun doing the class and learning about Stroopwafels. The class was taught by Sofia and she was very helpful and patient. It’s great value as you get to make 2 large Stroppwafels with your choice of toppings and a special tin to take home. Best to book in advance and a great activity for a group. Not suitable for young children but very good for 10-12 onwards.

I generally find stroopwafels very sweet, but these from Melly were the most delicious I've ever had. I tried the classic one and the caramelized wafer one; they were just the right amount of sweetness, the perfect size for a snack, and they felt fresh. The girl who served me was very friendly, and I saw they had gluten-free options. It wasn't too crowded when I went, and the service was very fast. Definitely a sweet gem in Amsterdam 💎

They have great selections of stroop waffles with different toppings. The ones that we tried were super sweet! All variations are rather pricey, they cost 7 euros just for a stroopwaffles. At least we have tried once, with no plan to come back.

Really fun workshop! I highly recommend it, especially for children. We went as two adults & had a great time, and left with 2 delicious stroopwafels each.

It was the first treat I tried in Amsterdam! I had read so many great reviews about it, but unfortunately, the taste was far below my expectations 😔 I went for the pistachio flavor, which was coated with dark chocolate and pistachios, sadly, it didn’t impress me much. The price also felt a bit high for just one piece 💸

A word of caution here... yes, a waffle for €7 is certainly a statement, and of course, this shop also relies on tourism and word of mouth, but just like the famous cookies nearby, this shop has its raison d'être because the product is very good. I initially wanted to buy sweet waffles or something similar in all those sweet shops in Amsterdam, but I would stay away from them, as most shops are opaque, don't display prices, and the goods sit there forever and are old. So I wanted to buy something that's well-known in Amsterdam, and if you want to buy stroopwafels, this is the place to go. They're freshly made and even warm (at least the large ones). I really didn't have great expectations and just wondered how a waffle like that could cost €7 and there's nothing on it. The waffle with topping (I used Oreo) actually weighs a lot more than I thought! I ate the waffle outside while it was still fresh, which meant it was warm and not quite as crispy, but still incredibly delicious. The whole thing was so filling and satisfying that I wasn't hungry afterward. A real sugar rush :D. But after eating out, it was a really great dessert to finish off. Ultimately, I have to say that the €7 was definitely worth it, and I would buy one again. If you're on vacation in Amsterdam, you should treat yourself to a waffle like this, and do it right here! You won't regret it.

Amazing stroopwafels! Literally the best I ever had. It’s in a very touristy central part of Amsterdam and I totally recommend the M&M one and the caramel one. I got several. So sweet and delicious!

Stroopwafels was warm and chewy. When it’s cold there is a better crunch. Great if you have a sweet tooth. Not something I will eat everyday but try it if you are in Amsterdam.

My family and I had a fantastic time making Stroopwafels. Moran was a brilliant instructor. So friendly and especially good with our 10 and 12 year olds. Thoroughly recommend.

Incredible place and staff. Signed up for the stroopwafel workshop but upon arrival realized we had booked for the wrong date. Despite the fact they didn’t do any other classes on that day, they set up the workshop for us as it was our last day in town. Really going above and beyond. Sofia was a lovely instructor and made the whole experience a joy! She deserves a raise!

I tried a stroopwafel with coconut at Melly's, just behind Dam Square – it was really tasty! At €7 for one, it’s definitely on the pricey side, and honestly, at that price I was kind of expecting them to make it fresh right in front of me. Still, given the central location, it makes sense, and the flavor really delivered. Worth trying if you're nearby!

The best stroopwaffle I have had in the Netherlands hands down! Service was amazing, and their filling is so buttery and delicious! I took 4 packs home to Canada and they are already gone in last than a two months 😂. I just wish they shipped to Canada as well

On July 22nd, we arrived at closing time, a minute early, and the girls had already locked up. We begged to get in, and the answer was "no." We came on vacation with the idea of shopping at this store, but for a minute, we were left wanting. Honestly, you can't be so inflexible :-( They must be overbooked, maybe because everything is so good, but we'll never know!

Enough sugar to give you a high. A great tasting stroopwaffle. They even had gluten free for my wife.

Came back twice looking for gluten free stroopwaffels. Luckily got some the second day, but I was expecting a fresh one. You can get a package of 8 gluten free ones, cold, no toppings. Nice to try, but not what I was expecting.
