The coffe is very good, friendly staff and fresh food :) It can be a little noisy if you plan to telework here though.

We ordered 2 plain croissants and 2 flat whites with oat milk. The croissants were really fresh and coffees were really delicious. I would like to thank especially the barista lady. She was very kindly and friendly.

Delicious croissants, but the cappuccino and café mocha both tasted rather sour, so we skipped those...

Cute little bakery! You can sit upstairs or outside :) and the prices are good. I recommend the almond croissant!

We visited in a cold early winter morning (Dec 2025), the gloomy environment changed the instant we came in. The place was warm and smelled of fresh baked croissants mixed with sourdough. Don’t miss this place whenever you are in Amsterdam. Get in at 8am and enjoy the vibe.

The Baking Lab in Amsterdam is an absolutely lovely shop! Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately for my waist, my hotel happened to be just a block away from this lovely little bakery, so obviously I stopped by on three out of the four days I spent in the city. The pastries are delightfully soft and flaky, with a melt on your tongue consistency that only comes from a superb bake. The coffee is flavorful, tasty, and the perfect companion to anything you choose from the counter. The entire shop feels warm and welcoming, a perfect place to perch with a book or catch up with friends on a cold winter day ☺️ I could not have asked for a sweeter neighborhood spot during my stay.

I stopped by to buy something to take away for breakfast and bought the Famous Framboos, delicious!

Amazing spot, truly one of my favorites in Oost. Beautiful and cozy atmosphere, delicious homemade goods and perfect coffee. I often go there to work a bit or to simply sit and enjoy my afternoon lunch coffee. One disappointing aspect though: the staff is surprisingly indifferent/rude at times. I’m usually not one to mind too much about these things but I’ve received the same treatment each time I went, so I thought it be best to mention :) Otherwise, a gem of a spot!

Expensive, but delicious sandwiches and lunch options. It's also great that you can sometimes take bread-baking classes there with a group!

I did the sourdough workshop and it was amazing! We learned the basics, scientific background, characteristics of different flours, shaping, … and got a starter at the end to begin our own sourdough journey. Thanks a lot! :)

Such a nice place with great bakery. I was lucky to get poppyseed babka straight from the oven, which was delicious! The staff was very friendly, I definitely will be back soon

I followed one of their basic bread making workshops and it was amazing. Educational, fun, great atmosphere and super delicious. Highly recommend it and also their breads and cafe. Cozy small bakery and very friendly people.

This week I was at the baking lab to get some American baking flour and a starter... I got half a starter... 27 grams... So I had to feed it at home first instead of being able to start right away. A bit of a shame, though. Otherwise, the flour is fine.

The bakery tastes good but the service is too slow (even when they have four people ). It’s not a place to stop on your way to work.

The place is amazing and the bread is one of the best, but sadly the girl at the cashier is quite rude. This review is more for the owners to keep in mind that the staff is quite rude and that will be the reason I’m not coming back. (A lady who worked Monday 8 September morning)

This place is a hidden gem. It’s a cute local cafe with a great vibe. The bread is extraordinary. I enrolled in the ‘Baking Lab Experience’. Wow! A day behind the scenes in the bakery. I learned so much and met the team. Highly recommend!

We ordered framboos cake and carrot cake and they are one of the best cakes I have tasted. The staff are friendly and with good atmosphere. I recommend this.

Nice place with a lot of homemade things. Not a culinary experience, but could come again. A good standard. You won't be disappointed - although the cocoa is a bit thin.

A top-notch breakfast in this bakery with an open lab behind the counter. Delicious croissants and good coffee. You can feel the desire to share the passion that drives the team. The place is also very pretty—both inside and on the terrace.

I have been buying breads from here for a while and i like their bakery products. I tried their lunch today. I ordered shakshuka with pita bread as an extra and a cappuccino. There were multiple issues with my lunch : 1. I waited for almost 45 mins to get it only after reminding them. 2. Even after waiting, I wasnt served pita bread for which i paid extra. 3. They forgot the cappucino even after 45 mind and i had to ask for it again. 4. Shakshuka didnt taste great either. I dont think ill go back for lunch here till they figure out a bit better the service part, esp if im looking for a quick lunch.

A charming spot for coffee! I visited on a sunny Sunday around 3 PM, and it was pleasantly quiet. The terrace is lovely, perfect for people-watching. The staff were friendly, and we tried the recommended Famous Framboos and the unique croissant cake. The fresh carrot juice was especially refreshing. I’ll definitely be back.

This place is absolutely awesome, as I walked in my eyes took a second to process everything going on. It’s a huge and absolutely lovely space to be in, with some upstairs seating, a big baking area and what looked like an outdoor seating area through the kitchen. There were plenty of options to pick from, croissants, pain au chocolates etc but I thought I’d go for the recommended raspberry and pistachio cake. The centre of the cake was crumbly and fruity, and that little dusting of crushed pistachios adding that little “joie de vivre”. The crust was firm and a bit crunchy meaning it didn’t fall to bits after the first bite. Complemented with a strong artisanal coffee (that really woke me up) this made for a great start to the day. Thanks for the recommendation on the cake, and for lovely and efficient service in a busy bakery. Wow!

Amazing place, all their products taste very very good and unique (they all have a flavour that you didn't try elsewhere). Atmosphere is nice and cozy and staff is friendly and always willing to help. I highly recommend their workshops too.

We took a class and LOVED it! The hardworking team made us feel very welcome. Their passion for creating wonderful baked goods is noticed in every detail. It’s great to see that it’s not lost in younger generations. Keep up the fabulous work knowing that it brings joy and love to those who share your foods.

Excellent croissants with lemon curd

The croissants with lemon curd are incredibly good. Everything feels as though a lot of care has gone into it.

I love that this place is both a spot to stock up on baking essentials and to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee with world-class pastries. If I had to change one tiny thing, the outdoor seating could be a bit more comfortable.

I went to the Basics Baking Workshop, and it was awesome! Everything was explained really clearly and at just the right pace. The hands-on part where we learned how to prepare the dough was super fun. I really enjoyed it!

We went here buy bread many times and the bakery never helped us cut the bread due to all kinds of reasons (maybe because we are Asians?), the good is OK though.

What a gem! Stopped in for breakfast and immediately fell in love with this place. The service and baked goods are wonderful and thoughtful care was given to my nut allergy so I could still enjoy a light breakfast of organic yogurt with fruit and seeds. Loved the small seating area upstairs that overlooked the shop entrance --so cozy! We will definitely be back.

We regularly visit Baking Lab. The croissants are the best I've had in Amsterdam, the coffee is tasty and it's a very nice setting. But the service is nice but sometimes slow and disorganized. For example, this morning we stood in front of a closed door at 8:30, while it was supposed to be open at 8:00. Shame!

Food quite good, service not good.

Very slow service. Half of their stuff was out of stock and when ordering they not only confused out of stock items with in-stock ones but then brought the wrong stuff to the table (after 10 minutes). Cappuccino was mid. The atmosphere is nice tho. I liked the interior design.

Had a very nice workshop, baking bread for beginners. In 2 hours, all the phases that a loaf goes through are explained so that as a 'home baker' you better understand what is happening (or should happen). There were 8 of us in total, and we were able to practice a lot ourselves. Even more fun is that at Baking Lab they experiment with reusing resources. They are a circular baker and super innovative. They also explain how they do all this in the workshop. Highly recommended!

The bread was very good but the attitude of the client facing employee is not it. Very apathetic, not smiling, bare minimum of client interaction (there was no line at the cashier). Not what you expect from a « premium » bakery.

We did the basic bread workshop and it was really informative and very nicely structured. Enjoyed it and recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn about bread!

In the context of supporting local entrepreneurship, I have been here a few times, but time and time again I have been disappointed by the lack of service and the hygiene that is far lacking. Place is overpriced, customer friendliness is virtually non-existent, while that is the hallmark of a local entrepreneur. Tables and chairs are not cleaned, and bread is left loose in a large wooden container where you can grab your bread with your bare hand (tongs are not available). Cake and coffee are tasty, but bread is rock hard and that for € 4.90. A bit of a shame for an overpriced bakery.

I participated in the baking lab experience session and found it simply amazing. From the guidance that was provided, to the people I worked with and the conversations had on their objectives. Definitely an experience I want to repeat.

Delicious breakfast and good coffee, great for vegans. I had the fresh bread with tahini date syrup which was divine. They has a few different plant based milks and some of the cakes were vegan too.

We stumbled upon Baking lab while exploring the area and immediately were amazed by the aura and thought around it. Felt like here is a place preserving and teaching the art of baking. A friendly colleague helped us with our choices. We had a Mediterranean experience lunch comprising of humus, salad, and pita bread. Topped it off with homemade carrot cake and coffee. The carrot cake was not sugary sweet but mellow, which complimented the coffee. They offer baking workshops and sell their sourdough starter plus more. Definitely we will be visiting soon.

Great bakery with a variety of baking goods. The croissants might be the best ones I had so far in Amsterdam, super buttery and crispy. They also offer coffee and other beverages. Staff is welcoming and there is quite some seating space upstairs as well as outside. Can recommend!

I think it's the place that serves the best croissant I've ever eaten. Even though I have visited the place many times, there has been no change in the taste of the croissants, one can eat them more and more. Unfortunately, there is no uniformity in coffee tastes; sometimes you can drink a good coffee, and sometimes you can drink a strong coffee and not taste the croissant.

Addictive croissant! I could write a whole review just about how perfect it is. But it's just perfect. I've been coming there since the place has opened (2018) and I always feel like I'm home, chatting with the owner, and having a great coffee. I'm really thankful that this kind of places exist in Amsterdam

Highly recommend sourdough workshops

Hello, we continue on tour, we fell into this atypical place due to proximity to the hotel + good Google ratings. Quiet place, you enter, go down some stairs, order what you want to drink/eat, and then go up to a small, quiet first floor with soft music in the background. It is not a typical Amsterdam pastry, but as they told us, it is 100% made on site. We tried the Vegan banana bread, the Famous Tramboos with pistachio, the croissants, espresso, and in my case I changed the cappuccino for the Mocha. We also tried the carrot cake, everything in normal portions, very delicious, it tastes very fresh, and what's more, they close at 6:00 p.m. but if you stop by at 8:00 p.m., they are inside kneading and preparing everything for the next day. Very nice and quiet place, for consumption on the spot or on the go.

I only tried the bread. It's just OK, and it costs 5 euro..

On the way from the Oostpoort parking garage to the Carre theater, we saw this attractive eatery. Freshly made products and delicious cappuccino. We had raspberry cake , chocolate cake and good cappuccino.

I went there for a workshop for sourdough and was an amazing experience

Came here for a coffee and some lunch, and price - quality was just outrageous. I ordered a grilled cheese and got two really small slices of bread with cheese, without anything else (even no ketchup). It was really dry and while the bread was good, paying over seven euros for something I could much easier whip up at home was just too much. Both of my friends had cakes that they said tasted awfully. You also have to go downstairs to order, which isn't too big of an issue, but combined with everything else just made it all quite annoying.
