Rudi’s Original Stroopwafels Albert Cuyp Markt Amsterdam in Oude Pijp

Rudi's was my first experience with fresh stroopwafels and they were delicious! The waffle was thin and crispy and the filling was not overly sweet. I prefered the version without chocolate. I visited the Albert Cuyp Market on a Friday around 11 AM and there was a line for Rudi's but it moved very quickly. Note that the line is mostly uncovered so you'll be exposed to the elements. You can also buy a package of 10 stroopwafels, which makes great gifts. Just make sure if you choose to buy the metal tin for the stroopwafels, you grab a package of stroopwafels as well (otherwise you will have just paid for an empty metal tin).

The best in town. I paid €3 for the traditional one and €4 for the chocolate one, while other stores charge €8. It's right in the heart of the Albert Cuyp Market. The staff is super polite and always smiling, happy, and chatting with you. It's all worth it. The line is huge, but it moves pretty quickly.

Even the takeaway prepared packs are heads and shoulders above the rest. Aug 25: revisited and every bit as good.

Honestly, delicious. Is it BETTER than other places? As a tourist, it’s hard to know. Still, the food was delicious, affordable and the stall was set up for a crowd so the service was fast and efficient. Worth a visit, but don’t feel bad it you can’t make it or stop somewhere else.

Went on a Saturday afternoon, there was already a line. But it was so worth. I tried both the original and the chocolate. The best and freshest stroop waffles I have had.

The line is long but moves fast. Service is good, friendly with a smile, a rarity in Netherlands. The waffle is made fresh and hot. Keep it leveled so the syrup doesn’t run everywhere as it could get quite messy. There’s nowhere to sit and the napkins are not the best vessel to hold it. A good place to try if you’re a tourist.

This is a family business, and it's one with a lot of passion. The customer service is fantastic! Regular (Amsterdam) customers can always come around the back to buy their waffles. That's real service, something many businesses in Amsterdam could learn from. At Rudi's Stroopwaffels, they also have the best and tastiest stroopwaffels in Amsterdam, and they charge reasonable prices for them, not the ridiculous prices you'll find in the city center. You have to pay 13 euros for an empty stroopwaffel or 20 euros for a single pack of waffles. At Rudi's, you don't get that; they just offer reasonable prices. So, if you're ever in Amsterdam, Go to the Albert Cuyp Market and Rudi's Stroopwaffels! Rudi's Stroopwaffels are the best in Amsterdam!!!

Delicious original stroopwafels, worth a visit.

Approx 4 euros per stroopwafel. 3 different kinds. Approx 5-7 min wait but quick once you are at the front. Delicious stroopwafel.

A 50% price increase within just two years makes Rudi laugh, businesslike. While an original stroopwafel cost €2 in April 2023, it will already cost €3 by July 2025. In 2019, the waffles were only €1.50 each. They still tasted good.

Back again in Amsterdam we made a bee-line directly here! No disappointment, the flavour, the crisp waffle doing the melting caramel. Original every time! They claim to be the best in Amsterdam, or family believe they ARE the very best in Amsterdam. There is a queue but you will not mind the wait once you but into that fresh stroupwaffle 😎

The service is excellent, the guys are very friendly. They seem to be family. The stoopwafe isn't as overpriced as other places, and it's incredible.

This place was actually quite enjoyable — the taste was definitely not disappointing. Although the queue was a bit long, it added to the anticipation. The dough had a lovely aroma and just the right level of sweetness, not overpowering at all. It’s the kind of treat that feels balanced and well thought out. However, if we’re talking pure value for money, I personally feel that the red-themed shop nearby still wins. That one delivers a more satisfying experience in terms of both flavor and portion size. Still, this spot is worth trying if you’re in the area and don’t mind the wait.

Rudy's Waffles, recommended by Mr. Phil, was definitely worth the wait. How many places can you find where you can get a warm stroopwafel while being kindly handed it to you? I believe that what travelers need is not only a delicious experience, but also a little attention to yourself, which is part of the fun of traveling. The warm original was truly delicious. For Koreans, it'll taste like the filling of a hotteok (Korean pancake). It's even better when it's slightly cooled.

People aren’t lying when they say this is the BEST stroopwaffle in Amsterdam!! Absolutely loved it and the guys working there are so chatty and friendly. Would 100% recommend the visit. €3 for a fresh stroopwaffle! Just make sure to check their opening times as they are different to most ‘shops’ in the market!

Good, not overly sweet, and I'd say slightly salty. The line wasn't too bad. The prices are very reasonable. You can find more expensive waffles in supermarkets. I recommend them.

It's inside the Albert Kuyff Market. It's right next to the fish fry place, and the line is long, so you can find it quickly. The staff is very cheerful and helpful, and they kindly ask where it's from. It's made quickly so it's warm, and it's a bit hard to eat two in a row (because they're so sweet). I bought the finished product, and the one that's made quickly is big and delicious. I really like this market atmosphere, but if you're not going to buy anything else and just want to eat something, it would be good.

Finally a stroopwafel with a good thick dollop of syrup that drips out of your stroopwafel. This is really the best I have ever tasted and as a stroopwafel is meant to be. And that for a small normal price. Staff is super friendly and chats with everyone.

Tried Rudi’s Original Stroopwafels at the Albert Cuyp Market and they were incredible! Freshly made right in front of you — warm, gooey, and full of caramel goodness. The texture was perfect: thin, slightly crispy, and chewy in the middle.

Luckily I came by here right before they opened, so I didn't have to wait. The guys are super friendly and fun and the waffle was just amazing. Never had a freshly made stroopwafel before and I was blown away.

Friendly and cheerful service, who also seemed to enjoy their work! We only had to wait a relatively short time. The chocolate coating wasn't chocolatey enough for me, though, and it tasted better cold than warm.

Rudi’s Original Stroopwafels is a family-run food truck that has been serving freshly baked stroopwafels made with a traditional Gouda recipe at Albert Cuyp Market since 1978. 🍪 You can taste the hot waffles baked right after you order them, and they tell you that they are best eaten when the syrup is warm and flowing. They sell original and chocolate waffles, as well as takeout packs (10, 15 mini, 10 Delft Blue tins). I chose chocolate, and it was half-and-half, so I could enjoy both the original and chocolate. However, the chocolate was a bit sweet and dripping, so it was a bit inconvenient to eat while walking. It’s hard to find anything special about chocolate, so I personally recommend the original during this hot season. If I were to rate the taste of the waffles here, they were stroopwafels that used strong spices, had a moderate sweetness, and emphasized high-quality dough and butter content. The waffles are thin and soft, and the syrup has a strong cinnamon flavor, which is nice. The only regret is that it seems to be at the center of excessive tourist-centered commercialization and high-price policies. I wish it was cheaper in the local market. I would 100,000% visit again. A friend who had been to the Netherlands praised stroopwafels so much that I thought he was being too enthusiastic at first. I thought it wouldn’t suit my taste like apple pie, but it wasn’t like that at all. It’s a food truck-like stroopwafel shop located in Albert Kuip Market that has been in business for three generations since 1978. Two warm and gentle men who look like father and son were diligently making waffles. They don’t sell anything else but stroopwafels, and they only have two types of stroopwafels: original and chocolate. The price is reasonable at 2.5 euros for the original and 3.5 euros for the chocolate, and they also accept card payments. I ordered a chocolate stroopwafel, and it was made right away. They spread caramel syrup on a thin sheet of freshly baked, hot waffle dough, covered it with another sheet, and then spread chocolate on top. The characteristic was that the waffle batter was very thin, and because of that, it looked completely different from Belgian waffles. It felt like a combination of hotteok and waffle, and the taste was actually a bit like that. The batter, which looked so thin and tattered, had a surprising charm of crumbling when you took a bite. Soon, hot caramel syrup flowed out from inside, emitting an extremely sweet and fragrant aroma. The caramel syrup melted in my mouth as it mixed with the batter, and even after it disappeared, it left a deep flavor. It was a little greasy, but when chocolate syrup was added, it was creepily sweet and delicious. PS. If you eat it often, you might get diabetes.

The shop is inside the Albert Cuyp Market, which like Ladies’ Market in Hong Kong, very touristic. Rudi’s Stroopwafel is worth a try. Freshly made. Love it. There’s a short queue, but they serve with speed. Staff is very friendly.

BEST stroopwafels we tasted on the whole trip, as we tried to taste as many different ones as possible, that's saying something. Fantastically delicious, and incredibly charming and friendly staff who joked and chatted a little extra. We came back in the afternoon and they waved at us when we walked past again, they had remembered us and continued talking and joking. 10/10 for the waffles and 10/10 for the staff, exactly the kind of people who should be at a market! It was also reasonably priced, 3 euros per fresh stroopwafel.

We tried the typical Dutch waffles. The dough is thin and has a delicious hint of cinnamon. They're filled with chocolate, and you can add more on top. They're served freshly made. The staff is very friendly.

Permanent market stall / caravan. Brothers are full sellers. It is closed 3 days a week. They come sometime on other days. If you find it, you can buy it. We will look at the next matches and days. It is not possible more than luck.
