We came here with our family and were very pleased with the service. The waitress spoke Russian and immediately offered us a high chair for the child and took our order. She brought our drinks very quickly. The main courses were also prepared and served quickly. Everything was quite tasty, but the menu wasn't varied. It was a very small menu. And in my opinion, the prices were a bit high 😇

It's a good lunch spot. The salmon lunch was a bit disappointing because of the cold poached eggs. Friendly staff. Don't forget to take a look at the hall of the old post office. You can walk right in from the restaurant.

I had a cappuccino this afternoon. It was served in a cardboard cup that even said it contained plastic. That's not how you want to drink your cappuccino, is it? And for €4.25? What would the NVVA and the Consumers' Association think about the plastic in the cardboard? How much (micro)plastic do you ingest when you drink a cappuccino here? Not recommended.

The air smelled of coffee, old books, and leather jackets. Mr. Potter feels like a cross between a library and a cathedral with a bar accidentally built into it—and I mean that as a compliment. Els spotted them first: a whole group of men in leather, laughing loudly, clinking glasses. I briefly thought it was a biker gathering, but they had a bit too much shine in their trousers. Els whispered, "Harm... this isn't a Harley club, this is conviviality in its purest form." And she was right. The service remained calm amidst this leather spectacle—friendly, fast, and humorous. The cheese board (pictured!) was just right: soft, spicy, crumbly, with fig bread and a jam that tasted like someone had hidden a secret in it. The wine finished it off like a warm leather jacket on a chilly day. Mr. Potter is one of those places where architecture, food, and people converge into a single story. Perfect for those who love vintage vibes, craftsmanship, and character – just like at Johnny’s Vintage & Leathers (JVL), where every piece of leather tells its own story. A cozy spot for coffee or lunch. The staff is always friendly, and it's great that you can also grab a coffee to go and read a book from the library afterward. Highly recommended :)

One of Utrecht's most beautiful spots, the former post office on Neude, now houses the library. And at the back, you'll find Mr. Potter. It's a great place to escape the hustle and bustle. The service could be a bit faster, but the food is excellent.

A beautiful location, but that's about it. Despite our polite request for a bit of speed, they seemed to be doing the opposite. After 35 minutes inside, we finally got a drink, and after almost an hour, our half-raw hamburger and veggie burger arrived. The sandwich wasn't quite right, the potatoes weren't, and the mayo wasn't. And it wasn't exactly busy inside. A shame, because the place is beautiful.

The service was poor; they didn't ask what we wanted to eat or drink. There wasn't much to do, but no one came. The food was decent.

Restaurant located in the center of Utrecht. It's a beautiful, clean, and very unique place. I loved it. The service is also very good. We felt at home there; the tea was good, the ginger beer too, and the burger as well. Simple, good. What more could you ask for? Regarded value for money. The restaurant is also themed, and the library is next door and very nice too. Apparently, it used to be a post office.

Came here with a small group in the middle of the week. The restaurant was almost empty but it took 20 minutes for our waitress to bring our drinks. Same with food - took very long. I had a burger and it was not good. Salty, with no other taste than salt. The whole experience was quite underwhelming.

Meneer Potter is Amazing en echt een surprise bij het oude postkantoor aan het Neude. Bijzondere plek, heerlijke pancakes, bijzondere lunch, hele goede service en zeker een bezoek waard in hartje Utrecht en dus een heel goed idee en zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

Good food, especially the chocolate tartelette. The staff is friendly and thinks along with allergies. It is a bit pricey though

Beautiful location but the quality of the food is really below average, salad goat cheese eaten lettuce is not prepared, something is just "thrown" on the plate without good flavor combinations. Dishes of table companions were also boring and little taste sensation. Prices are quite reasonable. Tip: make sure you have a real chef with qualities and until then.. move on or just have a drink.

We had coffee/tea and spontaneously walked in. It looks nice, in an incredibly beautiful building, but the service is terrible. She saw us come in, also indicated that we could find a seat, but clearly did not feel called to follow us to ask what we wanted to order. After 15 minutes we were able to order from someone by waving. Really worthless

The staff walks around here as if they are on Ritalin. A little more spirit, people, and you might one day become a 'place to be' instead of a 'convenient location' in the center.

Price too high, quality too low. Service did not know the map and was slow. A beautiful building indeed. Not recommended, there are better options at Oudegracht, Neude and Voorstraat.

Excellent location, lovely atmosphere and comfy chairs, service is friendly. I’ve been here twice in the last 6 months after working in the library and on each occasion the flat white coffee was nice and strong with a good microfoam but unfortunately very sour / acidic and it left an unpleasant taste in my mouth for hours afterwards. On the first occasion I thought it might have just been down to that particular barista, but it seems after the second visit that is the standard taste of the coffee. I really want to visit more often as it’s nice location to relax after studying but either the type of beans or the way the coffee is being made is a real deterrent.

The food was really good, But the service was slow, what a spanner in the kiss. Mice around our table, unbelievable, You'll never see me in this tent again, you can believe that.

Do not order "bitterballen" here. Limp, soggy, tasteless and cold inside. Quickly returned after tasting 1 ball. Not suitable for consumption.

Food was okay, I find it strange that it is forbidden to work on your laptop during the weekend. Even when the place is completely empty, I leave after dinner. Don't understand that.

I booked a cocktail workshop with Meneer Potter about two months in advance, but the communication throughout was poor. They never fully answered our questions, which made the planning process frustrating. Just four days before the workshop, they asked us to change our scheduled time, which was inconvenient for our group, so we declined. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we still ended up waiting almost an hour to start. On top of that, I had emailed them twice beforehand about one of our group members' food allergies, and even reminded them at the event. Despite this, they still served food containing the allergens. The overall experience was disappointing, and their lack of attention to detail and poor communication really let us down."

Beautiful restaurant! We walked in on a Saturday evening and it was very quiet. Drinks/cocktails were very good and fast. Food took a long time, especially the starter. Ober apologized for this and indicated that it was due to a large group. I wonder what it would be like if the restaurant were fuller. We really liked the starter to share, all small bites. We didn't think the main and dessert were great.

We namen de vegetarische plank voor 16,75. Een aanfluiting: 4 uitgedroogde falafel balletjes met een vingerhoedje dip, twee stukjes bruinbrood, een bakje naturel chips, 2 mini bruschetta’s en een kriel bakje met amandelen.voor 16,75!!! Ronduit schandalig en onbegrijpelijk dat je dit voor die prijs durft te serveren. Verder was de sfeer gezellig, de gemberthee lekker, en is het echt een leuke tent. Maar wees gewaarschuwd!!

Because I'm using my tablet (I'm alone, I check my mail/Twitter) at the table, I've been told to move/leave twice now. The 1st time it was in the afternoon and I was told to move to the other side, the 2nd time I couldn't remember which side, so I asked before I sat down, and they said "no tablets after 5 pm." So, I'll stay away from now on. I can't review the food etc, but because it seems to be full of snobs, who they guess would be disturbed by someone at another table looking at their tablet, the food ought to be really good. I wonder what they'll do if one of them takes out their phone. A phone is, after all, a small tablet. I didn't see any sign that warns people of this, btw. Update after reply from owner: This is not a place that is dining only, as the owner wants to make out. It's a place with dining tables and a large window bench and small tables to have coffee. It's even decorated to make a book-lover-like coffee-shop impression on one side. I wonder if I would've been turned away if I had been reading a paper book, something people also do in a library. To be sure, between the library and Meneer Potter, there is a huge hall and a couple of doors that can't be missed.

We sat there for 10 minutes. There were 3 waiters busy with each other but not with us. We greeted them on the way out. They were very unfriendly and literally didn't say a word.

Pleasantly located in the library. Quiet enough to eat and read or write there. It is also used as a meeting place, so people can sit and talk there. If you find that disturbing, go out to the library where you can sit and read and write in peace. The piano may be played, but that is also pleasant to hear.

It was nice and quiet here on a Monday morning. The interior also exudes a lot of tranquility, including the beautiful book wall. The coffee was tasty, as was the brownie. For breakfast we ordered the stuffed avocado and a goat cheese sandwich. The half avocado is filled with hummus and comes with a poached egg and piece of focaccia. The flavors were good, except for the tomatoes because they were very watery. The whole thing was a great dish for 7.50. Unfortunately, I was really disappointed with the goat cheese sandwich; I didn't like the goat cheese in combination with the figs and the dressing, but that may have been a personal taste. The staff is friendly and the service fast. Definitely coming back to try something else.

Ate lunch today. Went for the Eggs Benedict but what a huge disappointment! For 14 euros you get 1 lousy slice of bread and 1 slice of salmon and 1 egg. A real waste of money and it didn't taste great unfortunately... the toilets were also extremely dirty

Mr. Potter is a nice, atmospheric restaurant in the former post office. The service is friendly and fast. The food is tasty but nothing special.

We had a delicious meal here (the stew in particular was a great success). The service was fast and friendly and there was also plenty of choice for vegetarians. After dinner we took part in the pub quiz and this pub quiz is highly recommended. The music questions are supported by a live band, which creates a pleasant atmosphere!

Recommended!! Beautiful spot in front of the old library. Friendly and pleasant staff and very tasty food. We then took part in the monthly Pop Pub Quiz, with live music, unfortunately we didn't win (just) but it was a lot of fun!

Very cosy location with a unique atmosphere. However, food wise it was one of my worst experiences in Utrecht. Burger completely drenched in ketchup and otherwise flavourless. Potatoe wedgies and hasselback potatoe were not crispy at all but soft and did not taste fresh. Huge disapointment, won't be coming back.

They wouldn’t let me feed my 1yr old baby his own food that I bought with me and insisted I bought a sandwich for him instead. My friend and I bought full meals and drinks so we were spending a decent amount of money there. The sandwich was a very un baby friendly one, super messy and he didn’t like it. They claim to be a baby friendly cafe but I found it outrageous I couldn’t feed my baby his own food. Won’t go back

Haven't eaten here yet, but I often come there for a leisurely cup of coffee when I'm in town and/or visiting the library. Relaxed and atmospheric venue and pleasant service!

We ate our breakfast here. The location is located in the old post office and is authentically and comfortably furnished. The service is friendly and customer-oriented. And a point of attention is that a lot of people speak English. The eggs benict and the club sandwich were delicious. The coffee was ok and the price was acceptable.

Waitress gave us a table and 1 hour after that she didnt come. 15 minutes after us, two ladies arrived and sit next to us, she gave them an order but didnt look at all on us. I would avoid this restaurant if you value your time.

It has a nice atmosphere, but unfortunately the staff didn't seem to have much interest in it. Walking past the table all the time, but not asking for you, even if you stare at them questioningly. And when you do have the attention, you didn't feel like you wanted to order something.

Everyone is great and so kind. It is such a welcoming place and the food is great. Good to have a place to count on in Utrecht.

Een erg bijzondere service kunnen we het wel noemen. Allereerst werden de menu’s op tafel gegooid. Daarna, toen we al zaten, werden de tafels pas schoongemaakt. De starter was oke, niet bijzonder maar opzich wel lekker. Echter werd tijdens de starter (we waren nog aan het eten) al ons hoofdgerecht gebracht. Natuurlijk wilde wij dit nog niet, maar omdat het er al was moesten we dus snel opschieten. De burgers werden onder een ‘warme’ lamp gezet, echter heeft dat niet geholpen het warm te houden. Nadat we gehaast ons hoofdgerecht accepteerde bleek snel dat de kwaliteit ver te zoeken was. De aardappeltjes waren koud, niet knapperig en wij hadden het idee dat ze al oud waren. Kortom, niet te vreten. Dan de burger: 1 burger was volledig doorgebakken, en dan anderen was bijna helemaal rauw. Later bleek dat ze 1 van de burgers onder de warmte lamp hadden verwisseld en daarom zat hier een groot verschil in. We hebben daarom de rauwe burger maar weer terug gestuurd. Nadat wij klaar waren met het hoofdgerecht duurde het nog heel lang voordat we werden geholpen met het toetje. Ook werden de borden van het voor- en hoofdgerecht steeds maar niet weggebracht. Maargoed, uiteindelijk wel een toetje gekregen die lekker was. Het enige echte positieve hieraan was dat ze goede compensatie aanboden voor het hoofdgerecht. We hebben uiteindelijk alleen het voorgerecht en voor onze drankjes betaald. Dat is wel erg schappelijk. In conclusie: wij zouden niet aanraden om hier naartoe te gaan. Te veel fouten en onhandigheden. Wel jammer want het restaurant zelf en de locatie is heel mooi!

Slecht! Hele rare, brutale en opdringerige ober die zelf een keer in de spiegel zou mogen kijken. De hamburger was ook een grote rubberen bal… echt waardeloos!

Zo'n mooie locatie en er dan qua eten en bediening zo niets van maken...wat jammer. We moesten alle keren eindeloos wachten om de aandacht van de serveersters te trekken, tafeltje was vies, de koffie kwam in een plas op de schotel die ook nog over de tafel gutste, maar geen enkele beweging van personeel om dat vervolgens schoon te maken.Om ons heen stonden ook steeds meer onafgeruimde tafels. Het broodje ei was redelijk.

Ik zou deze plek niet aanraden om te gaan eten. De sfeer is gezellig en de service prima, maar het eten was inspiratieloos. De diamanthaas was compleet taai doorbakken, de jackfruit burger erg karig belegd, en de kabeljauw was een onsamenhangend geheel met overkookte groenten. Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding was redelijk uit balans. Ik kan het helaas echt niet mooier maken. Ontzettend jammer voor de mega mooie plek, maar wij gaan hier niet nog een keer heen.

Meneer Potter is gevestigd in een voormalig postkantoor. Zowel buiten als binnen een mooi pand. Lunch gebruikt. Ik koos voor brood met Oude Gracht kaas en waldorfsalade. Goed brood en lekkere kaas. De waldorfsalade beviel me echter matig. Geen walnoot, appel of bleekselderij te bekennen. Was eigenlijk gewoon selleriesalade. Zoon had broccoli - courgettesoep en was daar zeer over te spreken. Enthousiaste en leuke bediening.

Nice cafe next to neude, I come here often. Comfortable place and beautiful lounge. It’s also next to the library. Service is always friendly. Food is a bit pricey on the other hand. Perfect place to meet up over some tea or coffee or just to enjoy on your own.

Maar let op! je mag maar aan een kant zitten als je met je laptop wilt werken en koffie drinken.

Alleen bediening in het engels. Bitterballen met ijs in de kern. Dat was woensdag. Vandaag, zaterdag, fantastisch rechtgezet door de crew. Uitgenodigd voor gratis warme bitterballen en een drankje. Zo hoort het! Grote klasse Meneer Potter!

Na 2 lauwe falafel balletjes was de 3e echt koud van binnen. De serveerster was zeer vriendelijk, ik kreeg nieuwe. Maar degene in de keuken was blijkbaar minder blij, want nu kreeg ik zwart aangebrande balletjes. Heb de helft laten liggen. Geen aanrader helaas.

Handige centrale ligging, prachtig pand en smaakvolle inrichting. Vriendelijke begroeting en prima kaart. Eten is verder niet heel bijzonder en ondanks dat het op zaterdagavond driekwart leeg was, moesten we best lang wachten.

Amazing cafe in the heart of Utrecht with amazing food and drinks. They have quite a lot indoor seating with fun games and books available to play and read. The back entrance opens up to the library of Utrecht which is awesome. Would highly recommend visiting this cafe if anyone in Utrecht.

Ik kom er graag. Goede bediening. Het leuke ervan is dat wanneer je vaker komt dat men je herkent en met een glimlach je begroeten.
