We had a delicious meal here on May 4th after the ceremony on Dam Square. So happy that we were still able to get a table there because many restaurants were closed. We were welcomed. Very hospitable reception, fantastic mezze, and afterwards an incredible platter with various types of meat. Plenty and delicious. Highly recommended, we will definitely be back here again.

A very nice restaurant run by a sweet Turkish couple. There are no menus as they serve what they have cooked that day ensuring everything is fresh. The first night we went the lady suggested lamb to us. It was a standout meal, tender flavourful and falling off the bone. Was €60 in total but was more than enough for both of us. The second night was mezze which were 6 individual dishes with bread. We enjoyed them all equally and especially the range of food provided. Highly recommend both options!

Wow, wow!! What a wonderful restaurant. We showed up late, but were warmly welcomed. We had vegans, vegetarians and meat eaters in our group and there was delicious food for everyone. Having so many vegan options is wonderful. The kofte plate was beyond flavorful as was the mezze. Everything is cooked fresh, and there is a limited menu because of it, but that is completely fine, because of how amazing the food is. Highly recommend !

Incredibly good homecooked-style food.

Came with a friend. What a fab cosy eclectic place. No menu, the owner tells you what she has. We had cold meze to start then slow cooked lamb. Absolutely delicious. Owners are fantastic and so interesting. Bit pricier (we also had a bottle of wine, whole lot was €113) but worth every penny.

Literally the best food I have ever eaten. I’m coming back to Amsterdam just for this place, the food was all fresh and they had plenty of vegan options as well for my friend. The hospitality was also so welcoming, everything was lovely.

A hidden gem with very good and honest Turkish food run by a friendly couple

For years, I've been going to Mezebar Bodrum almost weekly. It might sound strange, but this restaurant has changed my life. The food is always fresh and top-notch. The location and the hospitality are unparalleled. I go there alone, with my family, and with my work contacts. I'd actually rather not write about this, to preserve its status as a hidden paradise. But that wouldn't be fair. I wish this place and experience for everyone.

The service was excellent and personable. Food had tons of flavors. The mini-meze had delicious vegetarian (legit spicy), chicken, and tuna fish salads, plus artichokes. We ordered lamb shoulder and sea bass for our mains (that was more than enough food four people). I’m particular about fish, and I enjoyed the sea bass because it was so fresh and mild. The house red wine is an easy blend that went well with all the courses.

Warm welcome. No menu (so we can choose without knowing the prices). The charming owner sits down with us to explain the homemade dishes based on what's available. This explains the wait between ordering and the dish arriving. But the latter is well worth the wait as it's so delicious... and plentiful! It was the perfect dinner next to the hotel before we left Amsterdam the next day.

Ten out of ten! What wonderful people the owners are! The lamb was their specialty and it was truly delicious. The meat just slid off the bone! ❤️ I have a new favorite spot in town.

Je zou er zo voorbijlopen, maar dat zou ik niet doen. Heerlijk en eerlijk eten, lieve ontvangst en uitleg van het menu. En een onvergetelijke dorade.

They told us they didn't have a menu, saying they didn't work with it. They offered us a total of six meze options. In my opinion, that was a very limited selection. It took them half an hour to even come to our table and take our orders. They told us they only had new raki, and the selection was very limited. Because there was no menu, we couldn't find the prices. Even though we went on a Saturday at peak hour, the inside and outside were empty. Unfortunately, it wasn't a great experience for us because we couldn't find the raki, meze, or anything else we wanted, so we left the table without even trying the food.

Vivimos en el barrio y venimos aquí con frecuencia. Los propietarios son siempre amables, en una risa y están - a la última sobre lo que está sucediendo localmente. La comida es siempre fresca y sabrosa. Generalmente, tienen algunos artículos en oferta entre los que elegir, a menudo meze mediterráneo (tapas) , o especiales de chef con opciones para varios tipos de carne, pescado o vegetariano y personalizados a su dieta. En los meses más cálidos, puede sentarse fuera y disfrutar de la ecléctica vida de la ciudad en esta parte de Amsterdam, o si hay una mesa disponible disfrutar de la tranquilidad del jardín trasero. Se recomienda reservar una mesa por adelantado, ya que a menudo están llenos de una mezcla de locales (que regresan) y turistas.

Incredible dinner!! Very welcoming, caring owner, didn't push for consumption at all and had very good advice! There were 4 of us, without reservation, on a Saturday evening. Delicious and generous dinner! Very good quality-quantity-price ratio. I really recommend it with my eyes closed!! Very very good evening!!!

Extremely delicious food and friendly staff. The food and atmosphere were authentic. I don't know if the staff talks good english. There was also no menu. In total, this costed 121€ for a group of 4 and there were no other people present at the time.

Really lovely family-run restaurant. We had the mezze starter and every dish was superb. Additionally, we had grilled meat and bulgur that was delicious. Very reasonable cost (70 euros for two including 3 beers). And we had enough left over to take home for lunch. Our new favorite restaurant. Thanks Irma!

We visited this beautiful, cozy little restaurant during Eid — and from the very first moment, we were welcomed with such warmth and kindness that we immediately felt at home. None of us had been here before, so it was a completely new experience — and what a lovely surprise it turned out to be. Although we arrived slightly before the official opening time, we were kindly invited to come in and take a seat. The service here is exactly how service should be: genuinely caring, attentive, and incredibly hospitable. Honestly, that alone would be reason enough for us to return. As for the food — absolutely delicious! Everything is freshly prepared each day, which is why there’s no printed menu. Instead, Irma — who introduced herself so warmly — is the living, breathing menu. She walked us through what was available that evening with so much heart and passion, it made the whole experience even more special. We started with a variety of tapas, followed by fresh fish (which we got to see beforehand) and a tender lamb shank — both bursting with flavor. For dessert, we were treated to a walnut creation that was simply delicious. It was a truly wonderful experience from start to finish, and we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Amsterdam. We visited the small restaurant in the evening without a reservation. The waitress spoke German and explained everything perfectly. There's no menu. You can order a cold meze plate with pita bread as a starter, and for the main course, you choose from whatever meats they have available (we had lamb, chicken, fish, etc.). The starter was outstanding and our highlight. Definitely try the meze plate for two people! The main course was good, a lot, but nothing special. Still, 5 stars because the meze was so amazing, the service was very friendly, and the whole concept of the bar was very unique. Conclusion: Next time, I would only order the meze plate for both of us.

Un par de amigos y yo comimos en este pequeño y acogedor restaurante para la cena. La propietaria, una señora muy amable y amable, no nos dio un menú, pero nos explicó que los productos que utilizan siempre son frescos, por lo que nunca tienen los mismos ingredientes disponibles todos los días por lo que no hay un menú fijo, luego nos describió los platos del día: nos dieron meze que consiste en lavas (el pan turco que se puede ver en la imagen) que se mojan en diferentes salsas deliciosas; luego tuvimos el plato principal con pollo: pollo ligeramente especiado con arroz turco en una sartén caliente (elegimos pollo, pero habría habido cordero o ternera). Las porciones eran bastante grandes, de hecho los tres compartimos una porción de 2 personas. En general tuvimos una experiencia muy agradable. Muy recomendable

We were very exicted to dine here based on recommendations. Food was decent, but crazy expensive for what we recieved. The lamb shoulder for 2 - costs 70 Euros, the chicken dish for one - 25 euros (the owner mentioned all ingredients are fresh - supermarket chicken was used), and a very small glass of red costs 6 euros. We didn't appreciate the lack of price transparency - I had to ask for the breakdown of the bill at the end (of which the owner was somewhat surprised for some reason). Value doesn't match price in my subjective opinion. If things were priced realistically then this would be a fabulous place.

Had tandır for food and the meet was extremely tender and tasty. Do recommend. It is a little up on price point - but it is worth for a good dinner. Had small meze platter and 2 person tandır with a glass of rakı and wine. Paid 92€. But meat was so much we couldnt finish 1/3 of it and had to ask for takeaway. All food is really tasty and small quaint restaurant, I recommend for a chill intimate evening out if you want to try good Turkish food.

We just got home after a wonderful meal. Food - excellent, we had a mixed mezze starter and the lamb shoulder, absolutely delicious. Service - the owners are so friendly and welcoming as other reviews have said you feel like you are at a very warm home. Atmosphere - wonderful. The irony was that we lived round the corner for five years and had never discovered this gem. Well better late than never. I 100% recommend you visit.

Absolutely!!! It was excellent, we love such small, cozy restaurants. There is no menu, what is available at the table is presented today. Very warm-hearted and funny, we quickly got in touch with the other guests. Dutch, German, English across the board. It gave braised lamb shoulder with a side dish, a poem. So don't just walk past, just look for it, we were very satisfied, we would be happy to go back if we go to Amsterdam again.

Everything was perfect, 4 of us came and had lamb shoulders and they were divine, not to mention the small desserts which were also excellent. We can also note the kindness of the bosses. Delighted if you pass through Amsterdam it’s a must to eat well!

We were in the restaurant yesterday with my husband and really felt very comfortable. Both the food and the ambience are simply breathtaking. The owners, a totally loving couple, try to please you with everything. I will travel to Amsterdam again just to be able to visit this restaurant again. I can really recommend it to everyone.

Very nice place with amazing traditional Turkish food, also vegan option possible. They don't have a menu, so you eat 'wat de pot schaft' 😂. The owner and his wife are nice people and are taking very good care of their customers.

So delicious. Our server (who I think is also the owner) sat down with us and walked us through the menu and suggested what to order. We took her advice. We started off with the cold meze and then got the hot meze. Everything was so delicious and fresh! I had the best farrow I've ever had in my life.

Yo estaba allí con mi marido y nuestros hijos de 18 y 20 años, y esta fue una de las mejores - 5 comidas que cualquiera de nosotros ha comido. Habló con mi hijo en alemán (está estudiando en el extranjero en Alemania en este momento, por lo que estamos en Europa) , explicó cómo sacaría nuestra comida, y en general hizo que toda la experiencia se sintiera como visitar a un amigo para cenar. Si eres un comedor exigente, esto podría no ser para ti, pero si te gustan los sabores turcos y estás dispuesto a comer lo que venga, será un evento transformador en tu vida. : ) Recordaré esta comida por el resto de mi vida.

the food here was amazing! there’s no formal menu as it’s all fresh, but you have a choice of what they have on the day. we had cold mezze and then lamb shoulder and it was all soooo good, we kept eating even though we were totally stuffed. I would highly recommend coming here - it’s a small place so the atmosphere is nice and cosy, and the woman who hosted us was very welcoming and lovely.

We were looking for a rakı meze place for a very long time and I think we finally found it 🤩 they make their mezzes daily with fresh ingredients so the menu changes everyday, they serve you 7 types of cold mezzes and we also ordered tandir as the main dish. The tandir was so delicious, the meat amount was so much and it was definitely better than the ones I had in Turkey. It is a restaurant owned by a couple and they are the sweetest! I would definitely recommend this place if you’re craving some good Mediterranean food and good meat dishes 😋

What a lucky find. It was like going to a friend's house. There is no menu, only what's available that day. We had an amazing meze plate with the best tuna we ever ate. We shared a sea bass that was cooked to perfection. Everything was so delicious. We came back the next night. We had meze again ( we even got extra tuna that was remembered that we liked) and a chicken dish. Wished we lived closer so we could go here every week. What a great find.

The food is incredibly delicious. It is based on the Turkish home kitchen. Everything is freshly cooked. Unfortunately, this also means that the selection is not very large and there may be little to no choice on some evenings. However, what is there is incredibly tasty.

Wir waren als Familie ohne Reservierung in der Mezebar um einen Geburtstag zu feiern. Die Gastgeberin hat uns wunderbar begrüsst und uns das Menü erklärt. Es wird jeden Tag frisch gekocht. Wir hatten eine sensationelle kalte Meze-Platte, unglaublich gut! Der Hauptgang sowie das Dessert liessen auch keine Wünsche offen. Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl, die Gastgeberin ist sehr herzlich, der Abend in der Mezebar war rundum perfekt! Vielen Dank😊

The meze was not Turkish at all and the tastes are so bad. We took 7 course vold plates and cannot eat them. The humus tastes very strong cumin. The rest is full of coriander which is not common at turkish cuisine. He also includes tonjin salad that is not a meze at all! If you would like to taste turkish meze this is not a place ! Not successful and loss of money!!! Not recommended

Absolutely, hands down, my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. The owners, Ihsan & Irma, a married couple, are the most incredible people with such warm hearts & a passion for life that carries over to the food they serve. The first time I went, I just wandered in late at night. I had no idea what to order. They grow the vegetables & she brought out about 10 tapas & my friend and I sampled (& eventually finished) all of them! It was the most flavorful Mediterranean food. I have never had anything so tasty. The atmosphere was like we were hanging out with family. Lots of laughter & music filled the little restaurant. Usually I’d be more specific & recommend a dish, but in this case, everything was incredible. Just walk in and ask her to surprise you & have her select your meal. Definitely check this place out.

Heeeeeeerlijk gegeten! Er is geen vast menu maar alles wordt vers bereidt en dus is de keuze per dag ook wat anders. Verse vis of bijv lam. En altijd de keuze voor meze, kleine gerechtjes om te delen. Daar hadden wij voor gekozen. Als eerste koude gerechtjes, zoals tzatziki, tonijnsalade, artisjokken en meer. Daarna het hoofdgerecht met verschillende soorten vlees/kip en iets van een tarwe product. Allemaal super lekker en daarnaast de combi van Hollandse en Turkse gastvrijheid. Het is een klein restaurantje maar er is ook een buitenterras (overkapt).

We were trying to look for a Greek restaurant and ended up here. It's a Turkish family owned business and they don't have a Menu as it changes everyday. The hospitality was super sweet and it has a very cozy vibe. Feels like a little gem that we accidentally stumbled upon
