Effendy - Lahmacun Cafe in Jordaan

Very poor hygiene. My girlfriend and I both got sick from a Turkish chicken pizza. We're sure it comes from here, because we didn't eat anything else the same that day. The only thing we shared was this one Turkish pizza. We both woke up in the middle of the night and had vomiting and diarrhea all night and the next day. I tried to contact you several times before writing this review to explain it personally, but unfortunately I received no response.

Vegan Lahmacun (Turkish Pizza) was just a disappointment. It was only barely cooked vegetables with no salt. I do not recommend. It could have been actually better with vegan minced soya or similar, even maybe with mushrooms.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed. In front of the oven, they heat a load of half-cooked or cooked lahmacun, wrap it with rings on their fingers and give it to them. We left without eating because of this appetizing sight. It didn't look hygienic or appealing at all.

Vegan lahmacun had zero taste and zero salt. I would not recommend at all... Also the lahmacun dough was not good saying that as a Turkish person.. I was so disappointed giving all that money and having zero taste on my food. I recommend Utrecht Last Vegas if any vegan looking for a tasty Turkish pizza (lahmacun).

Everything is halal, which is a huge plus. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Amsterdam. Whether you're stopping by for lunch or dinner, you'll have a wonderful experience. And while you're there, don't miss the chance to offer prayers in the mosque nearby—it completes the experience beautifully.

One of the best Turkish Pizza’s in Amsterdam. You can enjoy your food outside on a bench on the pavement or eat inside. For the money you pay for the food it’s a shame that the staff smokes outside standing next to the bench where you’re eating (3 people smoking at the same time is a lot). It ruins the taste of the food. Hopefully this is something they’ll improve in future.

Most close to the one you get in Turkiye. Tasty and fresh

The lahmacun was generally okay, but I think the minced meat topping could have been more flavorful. If you are not coming from Turkiye you probably love it. Other than that, the dough was good, just a little bit overpriced for a lahmacun if you ask me and the ayran was very tasty. It had the classic Turkish ayran taste. The place is small and simple, with four tables inside and a bench outside where you can sit and eat it is not that bad at all and staff is friendly.

And yes, your wallet may be a little emptier after your visit, but it's definitely worth it. Not because it's pricey, but because every dish is so delicious that you can't stop eating it. The flavors, the presentation, the service – everything is perfect. If you want to enjoy top quality and pamper your taste buds, Efendy is definitely the right place.

The best wraps in the city. They also have Turkish pizza which looked delicious - haven’t tried it. That will be ordered next time around. I had the chicken wrap, €8.50 which was delicious and an AMS bargain, especially when you compare it to, The Lebanese Sahara, for example, which is more expensive and has about half as much protein in their wraps. Yep, I said it. Obviously, I’m a big fan so take your wrap appetite to Effendy. Your taste buds will thank you. Various pics and a video below That’s all for now!

Classic lahmacun with aubergine is awesome. You should try it.

Effendy is one of the best and most enjoyable lahmacun you can eat. I definitely recommend you to try the Classic cheese lahmacun. You can even come to Amsterdam just for the effendy meal! We want it in Istanbul too :)

Over hyped and overrated. Lahmacun kebap all you can taste is garlic and Sriracha sauce lol. Heartburn material. And you have to wait outside in the rain for your food like a 2nd class citizen. Go somewhere else.

Starting at 7 euros for a lahmacun, I have one word for it: YUH!!! Dough, pepper, a little minced meat. Rip off or not? Waiting for a table. Very tight space. Sit on a high chair in a corner. Lahmacun was tasty, but way too expensive.

I was just brought here by my girlfriend. According to her, I had never eaten a 'real lahmacun' before. Of course I didn't understand what she meant until I took my first bite. So I can say that I wasted years eating plastic dough thinking it was 'Turkish pizza'. I plan to put a tent in front of the door and enjoy all the fresh lahmacun they make here every day. Also very friendly, committed and respectful chef, staff who allowed me to experience Turkish hospitality in the middle of Het Rozengracht. When they saw me doing my happy food dance with my eyes rolling back into my brain at 90mph. we were even offered a special lahmacun! Would recommend this one too! (WITH EGGPLANT AND WALNUT AND SUMAC) Well… I still want to describe all the sensational feelings here, but I think I have been able to write reasonably well so far. 🫡 Guys keep it up!

Everything started when I was craving soup, and when I turned my head, I entered this place called Efendi. When the friend behind the counter introduced himself as being from Istanbul, it turned out that he was from Thessaloniki. After he opened up a little more and told me that he was an Imam Hatip graduate, I had another shock of my life when I asked him to recite the Yasin Surah and asked me to recite whatever I gave him. I wanted lentil soup and when it came, I saw that there was no bread with it. When I asked him for bread, he said, "This is Amsterdam, we serve it without bread, but if you want, there is a bagel." When I looked at the simit, I was surprised to see that it was 2 euros. Anyway, I asked for a bagel and a grinning kid on the sidelines caught my eye. I saw that the room was from Izmir. Anyway, as the story goes, the employees are nice, warm-hearted children. I recommend it to anyone passing by, but be careful, lahmacun costs 9 euros.

When we thought about what to eat, we chose it by looking at the comments, we ordered Turkish style lahmacun and spinach and cheese, both of them were very good, especially kadayif, which was really delicious, it is recommended.

There's even lentil soup. I also recommend you to try Lahmacun. Friendly, very good service. If I go again, I will come again.

Very nice and cozy location. The Turkish pizzas were delicious. It's great that it offers vegan and vegetarian options. Staff were very attentive. They also have delicious fritters for breakfast. And their coffee is better than most cafes. Would definitely recommend to the bride

I haven't tasted such a bad Turkish pizza in a long time and the worst part was the price, 7 euros! I thought it was a mistake, because I never look at the price list for the price of a Turkish Pizza, because you assume that it is between 2-5 euros (maximum!). My jaw literally dropped at the amount. I'm certainly not stingy, but the quality and price ratio is very much out of balance. Everyone has their preference, but for me it was the first and the last time.

Not exaggerating when I say these were the best lahmacuns Ive ever had in my life. During our 4day trip we ended up eating here on two evenings. Their desserts were also incredibly fresh and yummy. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended!!!!!

A MUST GO!! I used to live a few minutes away from this place and I don’t know how I resisted the urge to not go every single day. It’s THAT good. It's a great place. Unlike many other Turkish restaurants, they do not have overly friendly waiters speaking in local accents. Everyone is very polite and respectful. They really speak Turkish, English and Dutch, they don't use fake words. When the meal is finished, they don't take the plate away from you as if they were shooing you away.

Got the Lahmacun (Turkish Pizza) a La Turca and it was DELICIOUS, ordered a second one for later before even finishing the first. Overall I’d say it’s YUM TASTIC / 10

Bit of an over hyped place. I don't think it was special, the wrap was dry (forgot the sauce?) And there was too much celery (sorry if I'm wrong, maybe different types of herbs) This simply dominates I don't think price/quality is in proportion

Lahmacun is very delicious. The buttermilk is slightly sour, just as it should be. It is a much more delicious place than most good lahmacun restaurants in Turkey. It's pretty clean. I ate plain lahmacun with greens in it, as we are used to. If you go to Amsterdam and don't wonder whether to eat lahmacun, I think it is a must-try taste.

The kebab lacmadjun was really tasty, i loved the lavash and the filling was really nice, but it gave me a bit of heavy stomach (and my stomach is usually strong). The place is a bit small for sitting in, so it may be better to order take out. We spent 30 euro for 2 lacmadjuns, 2 colas, 1 ayran and 2 bakhlava, which is a reasonable price.

It was the most delicious kebap I have ever tasted. We even ordered a second one! Arish was friendly and helpfully gave us recommendations. We even received a free slice of baklava, which was also extremely nice. We would definitely eat here again. It was well-priced, healthy, and filling food.

Taste is great, service is also nice. There are not a lot of places to sit so better to order for takeaway. The prices are a bit on expensive side as compared to other places that sell traditional “Turkish pizza” or lahmacun, but they probably charge additional for quality/presentation.
