Effendy - Lahmacun Cafe in Jordaan

On my first try, the lahmacun (Turkish flatbread with minced meat) was burnt. They tried to cut off the burnt part, but I told them I didn't want to eat it. After some difficulty, they gave me a new one, and that one was really good. A few months later, I decided to try again, to give it another chance. But today, the bottom of the lahmacun was burnt again. Crispy is one thing, burnt is another. Sometimes it's good, sometimes, unfortunately, it's burnt. Today I tried the classic lahmacun again, and it was excessively salty. Then I tried the cheese lahmacun. They just can't get the balance right with the ingredients. Sometimes they put too much cheese, sometimes too little. When there's too much, you can't taste the lahmacun's own flavor. I also tried the baklava, but unfortunately, they don't have their old baklava anymore. It was dry and tasteless. I didn't like it at all. In short, the quality is very inconsistent. Sometimes it's good, sometimes burnt, sometimes excessively salty, or the ingredient balance is off. I think they need to be more consistent and more careful.

If I could give 10 stars, I would, best Turkish pizza in the Netherlands

It was very good. We came from Türkiye and we liked it. The taste was fantastic, just like back home.

Delicious classic lahmacun and delicious pistachio baklava kebap, I will definitely come back again

I can confidently say this was the best lahmacun I’ve had in Europe! There’s very little seating inside if you want to eat in, but the staff are so kind, friendly, and helpful that they somehow make waiting in line feel worth it. It was also really nice that they spoke Turkish and shared their recommendations with us. We tried three different types: A La Turco, Kebab, and Eggplant & Walnut Lahmacun. 🏆 Kebab Lahmacun was the clear favorite at our table and easily got a 10/10. It comes with cheddar cheese, which makes it extra delicious. 🥈 A La Turco Lahmacun was very close behind. It had that classic Turkish lahmacun flavor and definitely won’t disappoint. The least favorite was the Eggplant & Walnut Lahmacun. It’s probably a matter of personal taste, but compared to the other two, we found it just average. Overall, an absolutely fantastic lahmacun experience. Highly recommended!

The lahmacun (Turkish flatbread with meat topping) was delicious. The large size was 9 euros, but I can say that one lahmacun isn't enough to fill a Turk :) It's a better option for lunch than dinner.

We went there about a month ago to get some soup for my youngest son, but we also tried their lahmacun (Turkish flatbread with meat topping) and loved it – it was filling and delicious. Also, nobody mentioned it, but you can rarely find lentil soup this good, even in Türkiye. Beyond that, the staff are very friendly, and the waiter, Efendi, lives up to his name. Thank you. I definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to eat and drink something suitable for Turkish tastes in Amsterdam.

The lahmacun was delicious; we came to visit the mosque and sat down randomly. It was reheated, but it hadn't lost any of its flavor. It was crispy. It would have been even better if they had offered complimentary tea. Turks are used to certain things; we look for complimentary tea in every Turkish restaurant. It was fresh and delicious tea.

The only place that serves anything similar to lahmacun in Türkiye is called A La Turca, and I definitely recommend it. Their baklava is also usually good and fresh.

Yes, it is tasty, but if I order lahmacun with spinach and feta for 13.50 (previously 11.50). In April it was 15.78, and now suddenly it's almost 22 euros to have it delivered to my home!!!

I never thought I'd find such good lahmacun and kebab anywhere outside of Adana. The lahmacun was crispy, and the kebab I added inside was also excellent. The place is a bit small, but everything is incredibly delicious. It's become a place I'd want to eat at regularly.

The flavors we missed in Amsterdam. A different take on lahmacun (Turkish flatbread with minced meat). We tried the à la carte and kebab menus. Both were amazing. The tea and kadayıf (a type of Turkish dessert) were the perfect finishing touch. I won't say "if you happen to be there," I'll say "make sure you go." You won't regret it.

If you start charging serious money for extra salad like tomatoes, then as far as I'm concerned, Lachmacun House has already lost. These salads are all supposed to be free. Lachmacun is okay, but nothing very special or anything. Definitely not worth 4.8 stars. Also quite expensive, but that is somewhat explainable given the location. They charged extra for tomato and cucumber. I think only the onions on it were free. I should have paid for parsley too. I only tasted bread with parsley and onion. There was barely any minced meat on it. Normally I never write negative reviews, but I felt ripped off afterwards.

The information on Google maps and other reviewers were misleading. Effendy had virtually no place to sit. There were only two benches infront of the shop that were full. The small kitchen / cooking area inside and the serving counter left no room to dine inside. So Effendy is basically a street / takeaway fast food shop.

Came across this little place quite by accident whilst exploring the city today. So glad we decided to give it a try. Staff were friendly and welcoming..food was amazing..and service was fast..what more could you want..Give it a try

The spinach and meat-filled pastries are delicious, truly outstanding. They also have wonderful desserts – I don't think any restaurant can match them at the moment. They also serve refreshing cold drinks. The restaurant is always clean, but often so crowded that there's no free seating inside. Inside, there are only three small tables for two. Outside, there's seating for up to four, but that's usually full as well. Because of this, I often have to eat my meal standing.

The prices are very high; while eating something there, you can only think about the prices and forget what you're actually eating. For example, you could be eating leftover pizza from the day before and reheated later in the oven. You have the right to know what you're eating.

Fantastic place to try the best lahmacun in Amsterdam; the staff were very friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed it and have never experienced such an explosion of flavors. Everything is fresh and top-quality, so you can taste it immediately! For dessert, we had a few pieces of baklava, which, of course, was also delicious! The service was excellent; we asked for a container to take the leftovers home, and they brought it with one extra delicious piece as a surprise! Super thoughtful! We highly recommend this place.
