Monte Pelmo in Jordaan

The most delicious gelato in my lifetime. Especially on the pistachio gelato, you cannot find any similar one in any places.

If you haven’t been to Monte Pelmo in Amsterdam yet, what are you even doing with your life? Seriously, stop whatever you’re doing and go get some gelato because this place is LEGENDARY. I stumbled upon this little gem in the Jordaan, and I think I might’ve found my new happy place. I was greeted by the friendliest staff (like, I’m talking ‘we could be best friends’ level of nice), and then I was hit with the toughest decision of the day: what flavors to choose! After much deliberation (and maybe a little panic), I went for pistachio, hazelnut, and a wild card—stracciatella. And let me tell you, it was like a flavor explosion in my mouth. The pistachio? So good, I’m convinced they’re grinding the nuts by hand in the back or something. The gelato was perfectly creamy, not too sweet, and full of real-deal ingredients. I was basically transported to an Italian vacation without leaving Amsterdam. Oh, and the portions? Huge! I practically needed a forklift to carry my cone. If you love gelato (and who doesn’t?), do yourself a favor and get to Monte Pelmo. Your taste buds will thank you. Just be prepared—you might never settle for average ice cream again.

The taste was awesome 😍 I wanted a milkshake and you can try 3 scoop in a milkshake and I asked them to suggest me the flavors. They were really kind and helped me choose vanilla, American cookies and muffin strawberrie and I loved that. There may be a little waiting time.

We had a lovely lady who served us pretty well even tho it was super busy and hectic. We had a little misunderstanding with a flavour and she quickly fixed it without problems 🫶🏽

I must say: very tasty ice cream. Slightly less full/creamy than, for example, a Massimo, but certainly no less tasty. I had the combination orange cheese cake and chocolate 😍

The best varied selection of Vegan Gelatos nestled down a quiet street, we had them as milkshakes and they were amazing. Zoom into photos for flavours. You can also have gelatos in a cup or cones and apparently they make waffles too. We came back twice during our trip to get our chocolate milkshake fix! Very clean environment and lovely staff. Would most definitely recommend.

The ice cream is some of the best I've ever eaten. It was very tasty and creamy. The restaurant is off the main tourist routes, but can be thoroughly recommended. The ice cream selection is large and offers something for every taste. For comparison, my benchmark is always the Stracciatelle variety, this was not bourbon vanilla but had a lot of chocolate chips and met my requirements for this variety exactly. The price starts at €2.20/ball and reduces with the number of balls taken per bag. For the city I think the price is justified.

Fantastic selection of vegan and non-vegan sherbets and ice cream. Among my favourites (I haven't tasted them all): mango, passion fruit, dark chocolate, hazelnut, chocolate with pieces of chocolate, mocha... I could go on. The long queue on warm summer nights moves quickly. Enjoy!

We didn't get to try the ice cream. In a very unpleasant way they closed the door in our faces and didn't even ask out of fear they let us in. We were the only ones in line, it was not difficult to serve one more person.

Yesterday we ate another delicious ice cream at Monte Pelmo. It is and remains my favorite ice cream shop. Also many vegetarian and gluten-free choices, my favorite is the vegetarian hazelnut.

I tried this place twice recently. I reached the conclusion that it has popularity because it is well located. But it is mediocre. I prefer riding my bike 10 mins longer for a gelato at Massimo. The difference is remarkable. I believe it lies in the quality of the raw materials. While the pistachio gelato at Massimo has an honest taste, this one tasted as if it was from some sort of essence or aroma that assimilates pistachio. I wont give it a third try. I suggest they raise the price just a bit and use higher quality ingredients.

A great spot for authentic Italian gelato, offering a wide variety of flavors that are truly delicious. The scoop sizes are generous. While outdoor seating may be limited, it's perfect for a quick grab-and-go treat. The staff are warm and welcoming.

On the recommendation of a colleague, I got a vegan ice cream here. Multiple vegan flavors and even a vegan/gluten-free cone. Staff is super friendly and the ice cream is delicious. Definitely come here more often.

Great vegan ice cream selection

I got a 3 ball cone, Malaga and stroopwafel were amazing! Pistachio was a little bit shadow of bitterness at the end. The cone was perfect as well!

The ice cream was great but make sure you come early because it sells out really quickly. The workers were so nice and let us taste as much as we wanted. Super affordable by the way! Also, don’t be intimated if there’s a line because it moves fast.

I had their hazelnut and pistachio vegan ice cream (they didn’t have a non-vegan option for those). Couldn’t taste the hazelnut in it at all (boyfriend neither), pistachio had a weird after taste. Maybe their non-vegan ice cream tastes better

Walked past this shop twice before giving it a try and waited about 15min in line before it was our turn. I ordered a cone with pistachio and yoghurt. My partner got a cone with stroopwafel and a chocolatey flavour. To be honest, for the price and the wait this was quite an average experience. The ice-cream is nice, but nothing special nor amazing. I love pistachio and at this ice-cream salon the flavour was actually quite bitter and the yoghurt was quite sour. The stroopwafel was also of very average quality. I think you can get a better icecream at the franchise Talamini. For the reviews this place has and how busy it was, we definitely expected a lot more.

Not my place. Nice range with many vegan options, but it is all a bit too sweet for me. The Instagram queue also detracts from the experience. A bit overrated, without anything bad about it. Seems to be a cheerful and friendly crew working behind the counter, compliments for that :)

Not a really good gelato, I tried the banana and the taste was like fake banana flavour and lots of sugar, not sure if it was a gelato or a sorbet but it was not creamy. Not worth the wait in the line.

I'm a real ice cream fanatic and thought I'd try here because I was in the area. The ice cream is way too sweet. Took pistachio and Coco's. Pistachio contained pieces, which was tasty, but both flavors were really cloyingly sweet. Really not worth five stars. Amsterdam certainly has better gelato/ice cream parlors.

A brief stopover during our walk back home. The first time we got ice cream here, and we could join the line right away. They sell artisanal ice cream and cannoli. I had 2 scoops: one hazelnut and one dark chocolate with a caramel sea salt crunch topping. My husband had coconut and melon with a dollop of whipped cream. I can only say that we thoroughly enjoyed the delicious ice cream. It was soft, creamy, and flavorful.

It's alright, but certainly not great. I had the pistachio ice cream and it lacked depth of flavor, though it had little chunks of toasted?pistachio. The good thing is that the portions are quite generous.

The hazelnut/pistachio ice cream has nuts pieces, which gives it a good edge. However, it's too sweet.

Fantastic Italian gelateria with home production since 1957. It has a good variety of flavors, good presentation of the products and two stools in front of the establishment to enjoy the street while eating the gelato.

The Chocolate Milkshake was pretty good, the chocolate taste was a bit mild, the sweetness was a bit too much for me. Though overall I loved the milkshake and like the thickness and texture.

When we came to Amsterdam 2 years ago we came to this place every evening to enjoy Gelato and Ice Cream. As we finished our dinner today we walked a mile to this place and enjoyed ice cream. My favorite has been stracciatella and my wife loved chocolate. Service is great and the staff makes everyone comfortable with warm smiles. Eating ice cream here has always been fun. A highly recommended place.

Some of the best vegan gelato I've ever had. We were so excited to see the huge range of vegan flavours they had too! Every flavour we tried was amazing but our favourite had to be the hazelnut. It's a popular spot so there's often a queue but it moves really quickly. Will definitely drop in again when in next in Amsterdam!

Lots of options, lots of people. Huge variety of vegan gelato. I got lemon and pistachio, it was alright but too sweet for my taste. Also got light allergic reaction to pistachio (which is wierd since I am senvitive only to almonds) so better ask what's inside if you have any nut allergy.

Redelijke variëteit aan ijs, met smaken die regelmatig wisselen. Meestal smaakvol, soms uit balans. Momenteel heel erg druk waardoor je lang in de rij moet staan. Mijn inziens overhyped.

Heerlijk ijs, puur en natuurlijk van smaak! Ook heel vriendelijk personeel en gezellige sfeer in de straat buiten.
