As a Chinese, I don’t recommend this restaurant. It has been a while since my last visit to Amsterdam and I forgot which restaurant I took last time. So I just asked Gemini, stupid Gemini suggested this one. The food was tasteless and expensive. Other Chinese restaurants I tried before were much better than this. It ruined my good experience with the restaurant here.

Quite literally my favorite restaurant OAT, visited here last year on my trip was so good I had to come here again every time I visit. The food was just pure heaven. Had me full with a hearty meal. Will come back here definitely.

I can't understand the demand for this restaurant. Waiting time of 10-15 minutes. On the plus side, the service was quick. However, the food was disappointing. The fried noodles with shrimp were in an unidentifiable, slimy, tasteless sauce. The Peking duck meat was incredibly tender, but it didn't taste anything like duck. The portion size was okay, though.

The food was good, but the portion for the price was rather small. Not an inexpensive place. Basically a small booth in elevated floor with narrow stairs.

No customer service whatsoever. I was told to go downstairs not greated by anyone, not told where to sit. Another customer came after me and waitress took his order before me. I was finished with my food before the other customer and he was given his ticket before me. I sat there for 20mins and finally started to walk out and then was given my bill. Horrible experience.

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel and it delivered. We are Asians from Canada where we have amazing Chinese restaurants. This place had the best stuffed eggplant with fish paste I've ever had. Even my picky mother loved it. The wontons were good too. The prices were reasonable given that we're in Amsterdam and the dishes were quite big that we packed some leftovers. We went at 2 pm for lunch but I'm sure this place quickly fills up as there is seating on 3 floors. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a break from the traditional Dutch fare.

The quintessential European Chinese restaurant

Tried to charge us €45 for half a duck + pancakes. I pointed out this was very expensive and he said he could do it for €25 if we had no pancakes! Charging €20 for spring onion, cucumber, pancakes and hoisin! Left and had the above for €25 a few doors down

It was hearty and tasty. The shrimp spring roll was really quite good.

The food was really good, had the sesame toast which had a lovely thick layer of prawns, the scallop which was beautiful flavour and the fried rice and peking duck. Only wished there was a sauce for the rice and duck. The food was hot, the staff were efficient, and the place had a good vibe.

My two boys and I came here because of the positive reviews. The service was unfriendly and uninspiring. We had two bottles of water in a plastic bag and were immediately told off for drinking them in the restaurant. Prices were reasonable (small beer €5). The chicken on the satay skewers was dry and tough. The dumplings were okay. For our main courses, we had Peking duck and BBQ pork. It's about time they replaced the shabby tables and chairs with something nicer. We had somehow expected more.

We absolutely cannot understand the 4.2-star rating. We were a group and ordered various appetizers and main courses to get a good impression of the food. Unfortunately, almost everything was a disappointment. It started with the appetizers (including fried wontons, deep-fried shrimp snacks, and dumplings): The fillings seemed artificial and were not very appealing. The shrimp filling, in particular, was anything but appetizing. The main courses didn't improve matters. The mango chicken tasted unusually artificial and had an unpleasant, almost perfumed aftertaste. The duck was also unsuccessful and disappointing in terms of flavor. The tofu was extremely dry and served practically without any sauce, making it almost inedible. The conclusion of our entire table: No one finished their food. For a restaurant where we paid an average of about €36 per person, this is a very bad sign. The service was okay – friendly and efficient – ​​but unfortunately, that couldn't compensate for the poor quality of the food. For us, this was one of the worst restaurant experiences we've had in years. We wouldn't return and unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant. Anyone looking for good Chinese food should look elsewhere.

The best restaurant in Amsterdam. Authentic and the food is delicious. A must-visit when in Amsterdam.

An excellent spot if you're in the Red Light District. The grilled meats are delicious, especially the Peking duck, which is spectacular. If you're looking for a tasty and affordable option, this is also the place for you. They serve dishes where you choose your base from various types of rice or pasta, and then select your grilled meat on top for €18. It's usually very busy, and it was a bit warm inside because we were there on some very hot days, but I highly recommend it.

My favourite Chinese restaurant In Amsterdam for roast duck and authentic Chinese dishes like eggplant tofu in black bean sauce. The portions are decent and fair for Europe. The service is a little slow but they are constantly occupied observed on my last visit around 1600hrs. I have been eating here for the past 10 years and am still impressed with their roast duck, crispy on the outside, fair amount of fat and tender meat.

Disappointing experience overall. The taste was just average and overrated, and the roasted duck was particularly disappointing. To make matters worse, one of the female servers (the chubbier lady) had a terrible attitude. The hygiene is also a major concern; the toilet was extremely dirty and had a broken lock. Definitely wouldn't recommend or return.

My friend said best sui kao in da world come and try if I visit Amsterdam! And here I am!!! 😆 I visited on a Monday noon. Got a table as soon as we entered. Friendly and quick service. Ordered the Sui Kao, eggplant stuffed and mix meat. Loved the duck and roasted pork- skin were crispy and meat was tender. Portion size were huge as well. And yesss i just found best sui kao in da world 😄 thin skin, huge filling, fresh shrimp, lite soup but tasty! Eggplant also guite impresive still got the crunchy while they pour the sauce in top of the dish Definetely will come back here if i visit again

Lovely food, quick service. We went on a Monday and it was packed!!

The food was semi-edible, which, honestly, was already more than I expected. Visiting from Los Angeles, where “authenticity” is basically a survival requirement for restaurants, I came in with very modest expectations and was prepared to be forgiving. The real plot twist, however, was the water. Out of habit from dining in many places around the world, I assumed tap water would be complimentary. Our waitress even double-checked whether we wanted tap water, and we confirmed that we did. Somehow, this translated into two tiny glass bottles of water appearing at our table. When I saw the unexpected €8.50 charge on the bill, I politely asked the older lady at the checkout counter what it was for. Her response was not exactly Michelin-star hospitality: “Water! We do not have tap water!” No courtesy, no explanation, no customer service spirit—just pure bottled-water aggression. I had a lovely one-week stay in Amsterdam, and ironically, this was the only person who treated me poorly the entire trip. And I’m Chinese, so trust me, the irony of this happening at a Chinese restaurant operated by my fellow Chinese was not lost on me. New King, do better. At the very least, disclose the water situation before charging people €8.50 for a hydration ambush.

Some of the food was really good, we had the fried rice with duck and the Kang Kung, both really good. The tofu with black bean was okay, as were the shrimp dumplings. The service was in my opinion okay, the lady who helped us was fast but really rude, which kind of tainted the experience.

On Saturday we had lunch at New King in Amsterdam’s Chinatown district, and honestly, it was such a pleasant experience from start to finish. We didn’t have a reservation, but we were immediately welcomed and seated without any issue. Since we were dining with a baby, we really appreciated that they had multiple high chairs available and seated us at a four-person table instead of squeezing us into a tiny corner somewhere. Anyone with a baby knows how important that extra space is. The restaurant itself is quite narrow, which is completely expected for downtown Amsterdam, but despite that, the atmosphere still felt comfortable and welcoming. The food came out incredibly fast and everything we ordered was genuinely very good. What really stood out to us though was the staff. Everyone was warm, friendly, and accommodating throughout the whole meal. Several staff members even played around with our baby and made us feel genuinely welcome instead of like an inconvenience, which sadly is not always the case when dining out with an infant. They also warmed our baby’s food for us without hesitation. Unlike other places that use the “industrial oven” excuse, the staff here clearly knew exactly what they were doing and warmed it perfectly, ready for the baby to eat immediately. The bathroom didn’t have a changing table, but again, the staff handled it so kindly. They offered us the bench area at the neighboring table so we could comfortably change the baby. Mind you, some staff members had actually been eating there themselves, but they immediately moved to another table so we could have the space. Overall, we felt genuinely welcomed here, the service was attentive without being overwhelming, and the food was excellent. Definitely one of the better dining experiences we had in Amsterdam.

Second visit to New King Mardarin cuisine while visiting Dam. Really lovely food, friendly staff and nice tsingtao chinese beer. We ordered crispy dumplings, spring rolls, sweet n sour chicken, egg fried rices and a meat platter. Big portions and really good quality ingredients.

I had wontons and duck noodles. I ordered the wontons after seeing reviews saying they were delicious, and they certainly were. The duck, however, had a slight duck smell. The tables are really close together, and the interior is a bit chaotic. Perhaps because the staff were busy, the atmosphere felt a bit tense.

Must must must dine here if you're in Amsterdam. My no 1 destination. Tastiest Chinese food in Amsterdam. And the wontons were unbelievable (never have any wonton this good)

Delicious food, but long waiting times.

Food came in under 5 minutes despite the place being quite busy. Crispy pork was really good. Personally i did not love the peking duck but my friend really enjoyed it. Chilli oil on the table was really delicious with the food.

It was absolutely fantastic! The quality of the food, the service staff – simply incredibly friendly, fast, and attentive – exactly what you wish you had more of in Switzerland! The people in Holland are just more cheerful, full of life, and so helpful.

We came here on a recommendation. Opinions on the food may vary, but we didn't particularly enjoy it... However, the toilets were absolutely unacceptable. The cleanliness was abysmal!!!

A Chinese restaurant near the Royal Palace of the Netherlands recommended by the European branch~~ It's crowded and the food isn't bad~~ The prices also seem reasonable for Europe. It seems like a Chinese restaurant worth visiting at least once when visiting Amsterdam.

Good chinese food, even visited by locals

I ordered Sesame Toast, Noodle Soup with Chinese Noodles, Wonton, Crispy Pork and BBQ Pork. Sesame Toast: Crispy and very nice. Noodle Soup: The noodles were thin and tasted good. The Crispy Pork was crispy on top and the meat was nice. The wonton was ok. The soup was nothing special. Waiter 1 let me choose a table. It took a while before she came to me to take my order. Waiter 2 was quick and simple. I thought it was strange that they only had cutlery for 2 people on a table of 4.

It's seriously tastier than Hungary!!! You absolutely have to try the shrimp wonton noodles! It's packed!!!! It's okay to come alone // Even though it's past 9:30 PM on a weekday, customers keep coming in.

Good food at a reasonable price. Large restaurant but very little space between tables, you feel a bit cramped. The service was good, but being on the lower floor, it took quite a while for our orders to arrive.

It was quite busy and the main courses were a bit on the mild side in terms of flavor; even the jasmine tea lacked a pronounced taste. I found the sesame shrimp toast, on the other hand, very tasty. The prices are very reasonable. All in all, personally, it is not a place I would be quick to return to, but others might of course experience it differently.

We enjoyed having our dinner at New King Restaurant. The roasted duck was a bit chewy but still very tasty, make sure to ask them to debone it before serving, which makes it much easier to eat. The portions are generous, the menu offers a wide variety of authentic Asian dishes, and the service is fast despite the place often being busy.

What a fantastic place! Super attentive and fast service, a very warm atmosphere, and very friendly prices. And insanely delicious food! The lamb racks and tofu stuffed with fish are highly recommended. I'm already looking forward to the next time we eat here!

New King is one of our favorite Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam. Been there a few times in our Amsterdam visits. Generally, they always have a short to medium waiting period before entering, as it is one of the popular restaurants in the heart of Amsterdam's Chinatown. Service is always quick, but sometimes they are in a hurry to take your plate even before you are finished eating. That's one negative experience I had. Other than that, food is great. Good quantity with medium budget. Note: pictures are taken in our last visit

The chicken was deep fried without it being stated on the menu + lacked any flavor (which you would expect in a Chinese restaurant) and the Peking duck was a big let down compared to any other Peking duck. Such a shame as the location and other reviews looked promising.

Best Chinese restaurant in town! The duck is so nice

Incredible! Reservations aren't possible, so I recommend arriving early. We came on a Saturday evening at 7:30 pm and waited 30 minutes for a table for three. There's a wide variety of choices on the menu. They offer dishes with chicken, duck, beef, shrimp, etc., as well as vegetarian options. The dishes are between €20 and €25 per person. I chose a dish that was supposed to be slightly spicy, but it wasn't spicy at all! The portions are very generous! The ingredients are fresh and truly delicious. I highly recommend it.

Personally, I find the food a bit salty.

The duck was incredibly delicious, very tender, meaty, and fatty! They serve half a duck with sauce and rice. The portion is huge! I also had my favorite soup with corn and chicken. It was delicious, but there wasn't enough chicken and it was overpriced at 11 euros. The duck cost 19.95 euros. The total bill for dinner was 30.95 euros. By the way, Priorbank Belarus doesn't work with Apple Pay.
