Heel gast vrij wel een leuke spot om te eten maar we kwamen aan rond etenstijd 18:15. We hadden twee medium wel done straks bestelt , maar het vlees was zeer oud of bedorven schrijf deze beoordeling om 23:03 en ben nog steeds misselijk heb echt spijt dat ik dit vlees heb gegeten voel me gewoon ziek heb foto’s van het vlees vind het gewoon jammer want mijn gezondheid voelt in gevaar gebracht.

Today, March 9, we went in to at least have a cup of tea, there were 8 of us and it was quite empty inside. We settled down at a cozy large round table with lovely chairs (walked in, and then to the right and then towards that table). We wanted to order tea and the waitress already arrived. We easily fit around that table but the waitress told us we weren't allowed to sit there with 8 people; that didn't fit, she couldn't walk around it. We had to sit at the back of the shop, where we were given 3 small tables pushed together with a set of hard wooden chairs; well I can tell you the waitress couldn't ignore that at all. We did not feel welcome and left for another location. Atmosphere a 0 and Service a 0. When we walked away we saw 2 people sitting at that large table with a large bag: they were welcome. Too bad about this. Not recommended if you are looking for fun. The wait staff wasn't interested in us leaving either, they were too busy chatting with the three of us.

We had a very good experience. The nicest server named Wout, 22 years old. Super nice guy who made the experience even better. Operation is perfect!! Everyone eat here!!

We were in the city of Groningen yesterday around 10:30 am and at News Café for the first time. We ate something; drank coffee tea. There was nothing immediately noticeable. But not in the end where we were sitting, there were still bread crumbs and the like on the couch(es; table(s). And yes, the worst thing was going to the toilet... the chlorine smell came to you in abundance (stairs). It's nice that it is cleaned, but the fact that you are almost overcome by the chlorine smell doesn't seem good to me. And then the toilet itself; there was chlorine in the bowl. And the floors were soaking wet; in the end I didn't go to the toilet. I was really overcome by the chlorine smell. I don't have to not to continue… So look at that.

Due to the stress that my granddaughter with diabetes had lost her phone, completely forgot to pay while looking for her phone, later contacted them by phone to pay, all understanding and payment waived, what a service and the food was great!!!!

We wanted to have dinner there on a weekday, we were kindly received by a gentleman to select a spot. We had waited a while for the service to come, it was also very difficult to make contact with them because they were chatting behind the bar. At one point the service came towards us but then turned away again. We then left, too bad!!

My goodness, the thai curry soup with the News lunch was absolutely a winner! The taste of it was gorgeous! Wanted to have a cup of coffee at the news cafe on Saturday afternoon. We were kindly received at the door and given a spot. Then completely disappeared from view. After 15 minutes we left. Unfortunately no contact was possible.

Best cafe ever (according to my 8 year old son) Nachos were delicious! Had a delicious steak. And the atmosphere was very pleasant. There was parmesan cheese on the fries and this is highly recommended.

Last week in town, just got a snack. Let's take a look at the nose café. What a nice tent this is! Nice people, nice atmosphere, good dishes and a hospitable feeling! After a short consultation I was given a spot inside. That was a plus, because it was cold outside.... as mentioned, nice and warm, hospitable, and we opted for a carpatio bouncer and that was fine, see photo! Nice tasty and friendly. All in all, great.

Wanted to get lunch here this week with my family (6 people). When we entered, the staff was friendly, but when we asked about putting together 2 tables outside so we could sit together, they became rude and told us “we are organized here” and suggested we sit at 2 separate tables, as it was not possible to change the seating for us. While I can understand the organization, I can’t understand the rude attitude or the unwillingness of the staff to allow us to sit together. I’ve never encountered this before honestly. However, the food looked very good and the atmosphere (from what we noticed) was very nice. Location is very good.

Old-fashioned fun. Cup of coffee, no rush. Different newspapers to read. It's wonderful to do nothing for a while.

Amazing view with great seats and good service. Atmosphere was great but points lost due to inconsistent coverage under rain. Quite easy to get wet if sitting outside. However, food was good, coffee was beyond good. Got the smoked salmon with bread, club sandwich with seafood. Both very well done, club sandwich was too filling tbh, very generous with the portions.

Very tasty food during a Sunday lunch. Ordered quesadilla with chicken. Was very tasty and very filling. Had 6 pieces of quesadilla very much enjoyed it. Good price for the quality and quantity you get. The view was very nice, we were on the first floor and could look outside. The venue was neat and looked well taken care of.

There is always room for improvement. For the rest, a great restaurant to enjoy the city of Groningen. Nicely centrally located and something for everyone. Definitely recommended.

Had a drink here yesterday, I had a ginger/mint tea. To my great surprise, there was a caterpillar in here. Now I understand that such things happen and this has been resolved properly! But from now on, maybe check it carefully before serving “fresh” mint.

Ik kwam voor een heerlijk kopje koffie en een lunch maar kreeg een grote mond van de medewerker, dus niet gegeten of gedronken. Hij word echt zo brutaal dit heb ik nog nooit meegemaakt in een lunchroom of restaurant! Ik ben er vaker geweest en was tevreden maar nu ga ik nooit meer!

Arrogant staff, dirty glasses... bizarre!

Unfortunately we had to wait 45 minutes this afternoon for one of the lunch dishes and the fries with mayo and curry. When we asked where one of the lunch dishes and the fries were, we were politely told that it was because of the carpaccio (which had been introduced as a starter instead of a lunch dish) instead of being apologized for. In the end we got one portion of fries with mayo and ketchup (instead of curry) and what you can't even call a portion (see photo) and we had to ask for a second portion. Mistakes can be made, but you have to acknowledge them in order to prevent them next time.

Just had a bite to eat on the terrace, first service who dropped a glass on the tray (which is possible of course) the food was tasty. But if you want to pay, paying in cash is too much trouble. Then I have to go all the way inside for the change.

News Cafe is not what it used to be. You notice it in everything. They have changed their menu, the food is just below average. You pay a lot for poor quality and poor preparation. They are not experienced chefs, and there is a lot of staff turnover. That says enough. If you don't care much about quality, price and service, you can sit on the terrace or inside the café.

Zeer onvriendelijke bediening. We wilden graag een kopje koffie drinken maar omdat het lunchtime was, werden we bijna weg gekeken. U wilt vast meteen afrekenen zodat u meteen weer weg kan? Best bizar. Aangesproken worden op een leeg flesje water dat ik nog bij me had, niet te geloven. Ok, we hadden een klein stroopwafelfje gekregen in het hotel, dat je dat dan niet op mag snoepen snap ik wel, maar verder geen prettige ervaring. Ober speelde een beetje voor politie agent. Koffie was lekker!

Great restaurant with bar, we ate very tasty food here today with 2 adults and 2 children. We were immediately recognized as German holidaymakers due to our lack of Dutch language skills and were given a German menu - great service. The staff was very friendly and the food was not only delicious, but also looked great. Full recommendation!

We had a delicious meal on the terrace. The quesadilla and omelette news café were tasty. At times, the service considered the telephone more important than the guests on the terrace, which is a shame because that does not improve the dining experience!

Was there today... The service was very friendly and damn quick. The food was very good, everything was fresh and very nicely prepared. The prices were therefore not overpriced for the food. Beautiful building and nice decor, service was friendly but the floor was really dirty and there were things on the floor such as receipts and cutlery bags. Menu cards were dirty, sticky and really needed replacing. There were dirty (open) trash cans in the eating area (food scraps were thrown away here and were in view of the guests). The fries were cold and the food was not really tasty. I ordered noodles with black tiger prawns and I could only eat them after two working days because I had to peel the prawns first (I understand that you have to peel loose prawns, but not if they are used in a dish). Luckily we didn't lose a lot of money, I hope it will be a lot cleaner in the future and the prawns will be peeled.

The empanadas, nachos and quesadillas are super tasty and have stayed consistently so over 5 months. Plus the portion sizes are super filling. Also reasonably priced drinks. The staff is really nice and attentive. The place is also always cosy, even if there are a lot of people or football matches on the TV.

The News cafe has a very nice atmosphere. You can enjoy the delicious dishes here both indoors and outdoors. In addition to lunch, you can also have breakfast and dinner here. You can also enjoy delicious snacks, such as bitterballen and nachos. I highly recommend this!

News Cafe is located in a beautiful location in Groningen, between the Vismarkt and the Grote Markt. After years I went there again (I came here during my student days). The staff is still very nice and hospitable. I must say that I find the menu somewhat disappointing (limited choice of dinner dishes). I had the 'Beef Carpaccio' as a starter and it was ok (not special). As a main course I had the 'Steak News Cafe'. The steak was good but the mushroom sauce was not my thing. The beers were also fine. And I enjoyed the atmosphere as usual (especially after dinner on the terrace). As usual, you go here for fun and a drink (cup of coffee, a few drinks or for a nightcap)!

Otherwise a great spot. However, my beer glass was dirty so I exchanged it for another one that was also very dirty. Ordered a tapas platter for two people today for €32. Very disappointing. The bread was not baked properly and one lump of dough, the cheese was cheap and tasted like plastic. Actually, only the aioli was really tasty. The various meats consisted of chorizo ​​and salami as you find them in the Stegeman supermarket and a much too fatty Fuet-like sausage. Then there was chicken, meatballs and onion rings from the fryer, which were also far too greasy. Add a bowl of nuts from the Hanos' standard catering mix. Three papadews from a jar and some olives. Oh yes... And a bowl of dry nachos (no cheese, sour cream, guacamole) but with a sauce from a jar. Everything served on some lettuce to spice it up a bit. A real shame because the ambiance is quite nice and the waitress did her best. It's really bizarre that such cheap products are used at this price. My table companion was so nauseous that he had to throw up. Maybe it's better to get rid of this kind of food as quickly as possible... :-(

Had the casadihas with chicken on Saturday..2 people both had food poisoning, now the GP indicated that this was also the only thing we had..another person had a sugar disease that is even worse..how do we solve this.

Had lunch today at the News Café. After 18 years of living in Groningen, it was time. A stir-fried chicken bagel for 13.50. Lots of bean sprouts, but the taste was good. You will be served fries with it. Also tasty, but a bit much. So an extra step for the price-quality ratio. You get a good plate of food. The service is a bit busy and what always bothers me is that you cannot order a second drink. Or you have to wave while eating for the attention of the staff. Secretly, it could perhaps be a bit cleaner. It is not exclusive to lunch either, but also a café of course. We vented here, unfortunately the chicken was undercooked. This dish was taken away and recreated, but it was still on your side. The hamburger was tasty, unfortunately we had to take turns eating.

First time in my life I feel like falling asleep after a glass of wine....that was at New Years Eve in your café and you should check with your staff why I felt sick after drinking your wine. I felt normal and fit before drinking your wine how do I feel tired after some sips of wine? Answer: Doesn't matter if there was a Party or not, your staff was pretty dressed up for a normal day which happened to be New Years Eve. Anyway don't try to distract from the topic, I felt sick after your wine and this is what this comment is about. Pretty scary!
