A wonderful meal and service. I suspect the menu changes frequently depending on what is fresh at the market, but we devoured a salmon carpaccio, cote de boeuf, and creme brulee. Everything was delicious, and this was easily our best meal during a recent trip to Amsterdam. Thanks for making a couple of tourists feel welcome and filling our bellies :-)

I went to this cute and cozy restaurant with my French husband: it immediately felt like we were in a village in France being served traditional grandma's food. The starters and main dishes were all delicious, well cooked and served in a pretty way. We were served by two fantastic gentlemen: Daniele (Italian, the host) and Pierre (French, the Chef👨🏻‍🍳 and Owner). The restaurant is small but extremely loyal to what is known as 'authentic French cuisine', that's why it easily gets fully booked! So I highly recommend making a reservation one week in advance, like we did.

In o bistro you feel like you entered your friends house, except here you get top quality food and wines. We started with some bread and butter, perfect to open up the appetite. Then we moved onto the main dish: steak for two with sides of salad and mash potato. The steak was perfectly cooked, seasoned and, therefore, extremely tasty; even more with those crispy bits of mushroom on top. I recommend pairing it with a cup of their Bordeaux blend, I’m salivating as I write this. The restaurant itself was cute and cozy. We really liked how the chef passed by to check how we were doing. Again, felt like being hosted by a friend. I would highly recommend visiting o bistro and will definitely come back.

This is one of my go-to places in Amsterdam. Really nice modern french cuisine, but accessible. The host is Italian (I think) and the chef French and they are a great combo. Wines are great. Meat is wonderful. The mashed potatoes are absolutely out of this world (I don’t even really like potatoes). I recommend booking although they are accommodating it is Amsterdam and there is limited space.

The food is NOT NORMALLY TASTY!!!! Oeufs mayonnaise, wow! And then the purees they make!!! The white bean puree with the filet mignon... I could eat a bucket of it. The mashed potatoes are soooo delicious!!! Never had such good ones. And not to forget the icing on the cake: the NOUGAT ICE CREAM!!! Genius!!! With pistachio puree and raspberries, oh my god. Go here if you really really REALLY want to eat well! And don't forget to order a Chablis with it. Thank you!

Exceptional food and interesting service

In my opinion, this place rivals some of the best steak houses in New York City. The amazing thing about o Bistro is the it is operated by two individuals. Truly amazing. Last night was our second time eating there. We look forward to returning their soon. For anyone eating there, you will not be disappointed. Lastly, you must make a reservation.

Food was mainly very salty and extremely greasy (we had the meat) and the waiter didn't let us taste the wine, instead he brought an opened bottle to the table, which was odd. I have eaten here twice: The first and the last time.

Fantastic food and service. Had the rib eye steak for 2. Recommend highly if you like steak. Grilled to perfection. Reasonably priced.

Warm welcome... in French. Small menu of delicious dishes. Remarkable wine cellar. Bistro atmosphere, so the restaurant is quite noisy when it's busy, but the pleasure is in the food.

This place feels like home! As a Frenchie expat in Amsterdam, this little bistro does feel like the authentic bistro experience in France: good prices, great quality food with classic French recipes, cozy atmosphere and great service! This is truly a place that I can only but recommend and I will make it my new home here in Amsterdam!

Travelling from NZ we stopped in for dinner, 5 stars from us. If your in the area go check for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

It was actually just a bit basic. No special experience, a bit mainstream. Fine, but nothing special. The lobster wasn't particularly good, frog legs were, poussin was tender. It tasted good, but the jus was way too salty, which was a shame. Consequently, the mashed potatoes were also too salty because they were made with the same jus. Double salt. The salad was ordinary, just green. The service was actually a bit too casual and lacked any guest attention. A bit too full of themselves. They spent quite a bit per person, which doesn't seem to be considered. Everyone has to work hard and deliver quality. So, when you go out for dinner, you expect the same in return. The wine was delicious. The crème brûlée was prepared in advance. A shame, because it's not that difficult. Perhaps they were short-staffed? Anyway, not recommended.

We absolutely give five stars for everything! We had a fantastic evening here. The food is truly incredible, the chocolate mousse... it just takes your breath away, so good! Daniele, the friendly Italian waiter, who explains and shares so enthusiastically! And if you're in the mood for a truly good espresso, order it here! We'd love to come back again!

One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. French bistro but uniquely Dutch.

Probably one of my favourite places in Amsterdam, if not my absolute favourite. I keep coming back and everyone I take loves it. The food is incredible. It’s classic but that makes it no less special. Every dish I’ve tried has been delicious. And the owners are absolutely wonderful. I still don’t understand how they run the entire place just the two of them, but they manage to do it while being very attentive and on top of things. An absolute gem in Amsterdam!

A superb discovery! The boss, a very pleasant Frenchman, welcomed us with a smile and a lot of kindness. Relaxed and authentic atmosphere. Special mention for the beef ribs, simply incredible — perfectly cooked, tender and tasty meat. And what about the puree… exceptional! An address not to be missed, we will come back without hesitation!

A treat! From A to Z! From the service to the plate, nothing to say. The creaminess and quality of the mashed potatoes are worthy of the great French chefs. Very friendly service, good wine list, great crème brûlée

Informal simple atmosphere, nice owner, limited menu (blackboard is placed next to your table). Ordered Côte de boeuf for 2 people. (€72) but that was disappointing because there were too many seaweeds. Cheaper quality beef so that's a shame. We also reported this assessment of the main course to the owner when removing the plates. Answer: must have been meat from an old cow. Another table guest ordered Joue de Porc and that dish was okay. So our visit is a one-off.

Restaurant run by two employees on a Friday night. One chef, one waiter. Unfortunately in such understaffed place it's almost impossible to have a good service. The waiter was not polite nor accommodating and the food was average at best. The restaurant inside looked very pretty so that is the good part of it. Tip for later would be to try 'hiding' the ineffective workflow and be nicer :) I understand that it's not waiter fault that there was not more staff available , but there was not even time to answer simple questions in a polite matter.

If I could give it more stars, I would. What a perfect evening. Atmosphere was gezellig! It felt like visiting a friend's home for dinner. The food was spectacular. Started with the pate, then Cote de Boeuf - tasty and tender, loved the crispy mushrooms, the creme brûlée was dreamy. Service was super friendly. The host was so good to our 3 year old. Excellent French cuisine! O bistro is simply the best French restaurant in Amsterdam. The quality of the ingredient is top notch and the menu varies depending on the season. While I have been disappointed by so many self called French restaurant in Amsterdam, O Bistro is the place to go to find authentic French recipes and great wine selection. Kudos to Pierre and Daniele!

Weeeeeeeeelll… that was something amazing and outstanding. The meat was melting in our mouths. The mashed potatoes were tender like butter although very flavorful. Scallops were perfectly cooked with absolutely magnificent sauce on top. The salad which came with meat had beautiful handmade vinaigrette dressing. Onion soup very traditional and rich in flavor. Cheese platter was worth dying for. And of course the chocolate mousse. I don’t like sweets but this was fluffy and light like a cloud with some salt inside and almond flakes. This is 100 percent recommended. Hidden gem. Ambience and service on top. Good to mention that there is only one person on the floor and one in the kitchen which actually deeply impressed us. Everything was top notch.

The icing on the cake? A personal thank you to every remaining table from Chef himself. What a team. What a meal! Everything hit the spot - and then some. A truly pleasant surprise just when we thought we had figured out the Amsterdam culinary scene hah! Our table is booked already for our next visit :)

The good reviews are correct. The food was delicious. All dishes were fresh and the portions were good. Definitely worth a visit and definitely worth several visits.

Incredible food, super friendly service. Like the two guys who liven up this place. A restaurant that will cure your homesickness if you are a French person in Amsterdam. This place was fantastic with great service from a small team. The food was great and the atmosphere was small and intimate with locals and a charm that can't be beat. The seafood bass was great and with a restaurant being run by just 1 cook and 1 host at the time we dined. Great wine offerings and reasonable prices. My only con was the request for a tip at the end of the meal. I was happy to add a plus up but the request felt forced. Hope that's not the norm.

Revisited Friday night (Sept 24) and delighted to say they’re maintaining their high standards. The food was delicious - mackerel outstanding. (Original review) Hits all the right notes with attentive service, an authentic Bistrot atmosphere and great cooking from the French chef from Nantes. Two staff, the chef and one waiter managed the whole show wonderfully when we were there on Saturday night. 3 of us had 3 courses and wine for €44 a head. If only we could get such value, service and food as easily in London

I wish I could give this restaurant 10 stars. This restaurant is one of kind that is run by two friends ONLY. They serve, cook and run the restaurant and they are so efficient. You will have to wait some time before your meal gets served but is it worth the wait. The sea bass was out of this world. The ambiance of the place is so nice. They also accommodated our toddler. Highly recommend this place - a nice restaurant for a date or even meet with friends. :)

We were there last night and we were amazed by the food and the fact that was a 2 man show during the whole dinner! We all agreed was the best fish we have ever eat in Amsterdam and the meat was from another planet. They also have a great wine list. I will come back many time, chef! 😍

Great atmosphere. Friendly and welcoming owners who seem to care deeply about the quality of the food and excellent customer service. The food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We particularly enjoyed the lamb shoulder and the Crème Brûlée.

This is a great little restaurant. Delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. Reservations are a must I seen numerous people come to the door and we’re not able to get in. It’s only one chef and one waiter. They are the owners and that’s why everything feels like it has a personal touch to it. We have had monkfish and pork filet mignon for main and had the artichoke, foie gras and oysters for starters Very delicious.. remember your reservation.

Really cozy atmosphere, even early in the evening. Reception from Daniele was really personal and had reviewed our dietary requirements in order to mention them upfront which is unusual. Both he and Pierre were attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly care a huge amount about the experience, food, and wine! Both food and wine were excellent, and the authenticity of the place means it’s something special in Amsterdam. We’ll be back!

In 2023 we again regularly dined at this cozy restaurant. And just like in the years before, always so delicious! Even though the 'menu' is not large, we are always faced with the stress of choice. So we decide to order one of everything and share it. We always watch in amazement how Pierre and Daniele run their restaurant together. I love the food and the wine. Just 2 things would make this place 5 stars, 1, a bit less waiting for the main course (I understand that u guys were only 2, which is impressive but maybe with time you can get a third person to speed the flow so between starter and main there is not a long waiting), and I would say that it became a bit too noisy, something that sometimes you can manage a bit with some music (as a suggestion). I love the mandarine smell from the mandarine that comes with the bill (nice touch).
