Super delicious dishes. Slightly pugish staff mood, but they thawed out as the guests' party mood helped. Fresh flower water in the vases would give the appetite a lift ;-)

Bistro Margeaux is a very fine restaurant. If you love French cuisine, this is certainly a place I can recommend visiting. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the location feels cozy and well-maintained. The food is of good quality and prepared with care. As a starter, I would definitely recommend the foie gras & eel duo; a surprising and flavorful combination. All in all, a lovely experience, and I will certainly return here in the future.

A fantastic experience at Margaux. We tried a wide variety of dishes and everything was incredible, with excellent quality and preparation. The service was very attentive and professional throughout the meal. Special mention for the caviar, which was spectacular. Without a doubt, a highly recommended restaurant for a great gastronomic experience.

Staff were incredibly friendly and polite, they were happy to seat us without a reservation. They were able to accomodate the allergies among our party (peanuts, nuts, shellfish)

Steak was good. Caesar salad was terrible. But the main reason for 2 stars is the service, extremely slow for all three: waiting to give order, waiting for food and waiting for the bill. Very forgetful and slow staff. I wouldn't recommend going here.

The food is beautifully thought out and expertly prepared, with every dish full of flavor and attention to detail. The wine selection is outstanding and perfectly complements the menu. Combined with the elegant atmosphere, it all comes together to create an absolutely gorgeous and memorable experience. Without a doubt one of the best restaurants we’ve been to. This is a very nice restaurant in a busy shopping street, but busy in a very nice way. Not too noisy, just perfect. The food was great and the service was very good. The waiter made a small talk with us and took enough time even though it was a busy evening.

A fantastic French restaurant in Amsterdam, the food is delicious, the staff are quick and polite, the decor is elegant and truly French, the caviar on bread is especially tasty, and the brunch with music and plenty of options on the last Sunday of every month is very enjoyable. Try it, you won't regret it. I recommend it. Thank you.

Good steak, perfectly cooked. Excellent bread. Mediocre creme brulee. The fries were basic, the tables are too close together and the staff were somewhat efficient without really being welcoming but it's still ok if expensive for what it is.

We made reservations for Valentine's Day dinner, but the evening was disappointing. Although the restaurant was still largely empty upon arrival, we were given a small table near the bar. Our request to switch was initially rudely rejected, but later granted, even though not all tables were occupied. The Valentine's Day menu didn't offer good value for money; the food was okay but nothing special, and side dishes had to be ordered separately. The service during dinner was friendly. However, because of this experience, I don't plan on returning anytime soon.

Forget to take most of photo, the place is small, but food is top!! Service is great, definitely will come back!

We walked in off the street even though they looked busy . We were warmly welcomed and quickly accommodated for a smaller table for two. This is a lovely little restaurant specialising in French cuisine and wines . Although expensive, I guess you could reduce the cost by limiting the choices ? We decided to go for the whole courses , once we realised how excellent the food and wines were. The service was brilliant , the advice on our wine choice was excellent . Very polite and pleasant young man helped us with a good knowledge of his subject . A credit to the restaurant! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and will go again given the opportunity. We thoroughly recommend this little treasure of a find , but don’t expect it to be cheap. We will be talking about our meal here for years to come . Thank you all 🌟

Best French food in Amsterdam! Tucked away in Zuid, this restaurant has a very nice ambiance and phenomenal food. Highly recommend the duck, steak tartare, foie gras, side salad, and tartaran. I don’t usually like steak tartare, but I really enjoyed it here. The foie gras and duck were outstanding. Room for improvement: the lobster was slightly undercooked, and the time between courses could be a bit faster. Overall, though, a fantastic experience and definitely worth a visit. Will definitely come back!

Magic, what a fantastic place in Amsterdam! Delicious French dishes like onion soup are truly amazing. Good wines by the glass, the best in Amsterdam, and great service. Steak tartare is brilliant, as are the mussels. This is a must-visit; we'll be back soon.

A warm welcome at the restaurant. The duck breast, steak tartare, and fries were superbly prepared. My cow's milk allergy was easily accommodated.

The menu features nice traditional dishes that appeal and are the reason for my visit – I have been twice by now – after all, one experience cannot determine a poorer review; however, the second visit had the same experience – the food is good and in balance with what you pay – however, the service is deplorable, long waits, no attention to customer signals – mainly focused on each other instead of the guests and finally not particularly “welcoming” – a guest next to me remarked that “the staff are arrogant” – I can agree with that. Is there no manager directing the staff, or perhaps they are also busy with matters other than guests? Make the most of it, I would say. In short, despite the food, no return visit.

Beautiful classic French cuisine with a modern touch. The onion soup was rich, deeply flavorful, and perfectly au gratinated. The main course, a tender piece of meat with a subtle jus, was truly excellent. The wine list was very well-chosen, featuring many French classics. The service was professional, attentive, yet friendly. You can tell they truly care about quality here.

French classics with a modern twist are served on beautiful, classic tableware — Sjiekdefriemel. The service is friendly and relaxed. Sometimes a little too relaxed during lunch, but that does give you time to carefully consider your choice. The walk-in wine cellar on the way to the restroom is a nice surprise and makes your toilet visit suddenly take longer than planned. In short: a wonderful French atmosphere, good food, and enough charm to make you want to come back. 🍷🇫🇷😄

Last night I ate at this restaurant for the first time. The atmosphere upon arrival was good, and the chairs were comfortable. What I didn't like was the service: the waiter announced he would bring us the wine list, but only brought us the dinner menu. When I asked if they could make lemonade, the answer was: "No." I didn't think that suited the restaurant's ambitions. The appetizer sauce was rich and sour. I was shocked when the main course (cod with a crust) arrived. It was quite dark in the restaurant, but luckily I saw something moving in my food in time—a worm. I think the handling of all this is definitely improving, not to go into details now.

Thanks to Melvin I had the best divorce party I could have!! All thanks to the extra care of Melvin. Would recommend this place!!

Yesterday I was at Margaux for the third time, what a fantastic restaurant! The friendly welcome and the warm atmosphere were fantastic! The fantastic service was matched by the delicious wines and dishes from the kitchen. Perfect for anyone looking for a fun night out with friendly service and delicious food and drinks!

What a fantastic evening! I had a wonderful dinner with friends on Saturday. We enjoyed a leisurely four-course meal. We ate almost everything on the menu and really enjoyed it. Highly recommended, see you soon.

Amazing food and employees! It has a cozy atmosphere but still spacious enough to not be bothered by everything going on around you. We had the steak with pepper cream sauce. If I could I’d buy the sauce just to eat it with everything. It was so delicious. You really get your money’s worth when dining here.

Everything was more than wonderful. The food was delicious and the presentation of the dishes was amazing. My beloved place.

Unfortunately after eating the razor clams as a starter I fell heavily sick. Already while I was eating them I noticed some clams had a different flavor/taste than the others but I didn’t think anything at the time. But 1h after leaving the restaurant I started feeling very sick. It was so intense I had to go to the doctor a few days later, who made some tests and discovered a toxin found in those clams was responsible for my sickness. Two weeks after, my stomach is still super fragile and inflamed. The main dish and dessert were very nice but I don’t think I would be returning after this experience. Whatever you do, steer clear from the mollusks/seafood! Note: I also see other comments about people being sick with their mollusks! Also as a “French restaurant” don’t call the bread “baguette” when it’s closer to the Dutch version of a baguette than the real French deal (more crust and less inside dough).

A place where I would rather have a drink that eat. I would say that the restaurant relies on its looks to serve slightly below average French food and tries to make it refined by leaving an option to add truffles or caviar as an extra. A faux pas if one asks me.

We had a wonderful meal at Margaux! The steak au poivre was perfect (even well-done, it was still tender) and the pepper sauce was rich and creamy. Paired with crispy fries and a glass of refreshing Sancerre, it was pure bliss. A pleasant, stylish atmosphere and attentive service – highly recommended.

We went for my birthday dinner and it was brilliant. We love Cafe Garçon and Williams Farmhouse so were thrilled to finally get to another restaurant owned by the same group. Attention to detail in decor, food and service was amazing. Chic without being overly formal. Loved it!

I had diner alone as it happened. Decided to treat myself with oysters and ribeye (450gr), fries and some wine by the glas. Good choice. The meat was more than excellent: excellent taste, very smooth and stil feeling the bite of meat. Loved every byte of it. I could do without the sauce. The wonderful meat should really be cherished without any. The fries were crisp. The oysters, with a good taste to it, were very small indeed. Too small as far as I am concerned. Didnt expect that. The wine was good as well, good choices from the waiter. That was also the only minus point really. Sometimes it took long to get the attention from the waiter/waitress. All in all great experience, I will be back.

If diners think this is good French food, you have no idea! First visit, when it first opened was great; subsequent visit OMG so mediocre...still high prices served with mediocrity on a plate! If you can't get a simple Nicoise salad right (instead of tasting like cheap supermarket ingredients), there's something seriously wrong here. Staff and atmosphere are satisfactory but it is the terrace that tempts diners as it is just such a great marketing 'facade'. Garcon, the sister restaurant is much the same...WAY overpriced mediocrity expanding exponentially taking over good retail spots. That pretty much sums up most of Beethovenstraat's and Oud Zuid's dining scene with a couple of exceptions, really...... C'est dommage!

Slow service. Ridiculously overpriced wines, missing a start of around €30,-. Advice from the sommolier was a wine of €95,- which is actually scandalous and bad advice.

The brasserie is located in a nice part of Amsterdam. You can eat outside on the terrace in the sun or inside. The tables are laid classically. The service is attentive and neat. They have a very extensive wine list. If you want to go crazy, you can also select a top wine for a few hundred euros. The menu is delicious and something for everyone. We had oysters as an appetizer and a delicious Steak au Poivre. In addition, a nice and mixed audience that comes to stay here.

Top wine bar, haven't tried the food but it looks like it will be quite ok. Nice service, nice wine list, top location.

Foie gras is still on the menu in 2025. Not up to date, do not contribute to extreme animal suffering and avoid this restaurant.

Originele plek om te lunchen of dineren. Eten is van goede kwaliteit. Bij mooi weer is het mogelijk om op het terras te lunchen. Terras is redelijk afgeschermd met schermen tegen weersinvloeden. Reserveren is aan te raden om bijvoorbeeld niet aan de bar te hoeven eten.

Indicating your wishes on the site if, for example, you have a lactose problem is pointless. Not taken into account in any way. They come up with something on the spot which ends in a dry mouthful of nothing. It wasn't busy so that was no excuse. Just too much Amsterdam-South arrogance with a hint of disdain. We see this more and more often in Amsterdam. Food was ok. Brioche with six pieces of chicken, a layer of avocado sauce and a lettuce leaf...17 euros.

We hadden hier lunch, ontvangst vriendelijk, maar ga niet voorin zitten als het winter is, ondanks de tochtdeur komt er vreselijk veel kou naar binnen. Als je eenmaal zit is het soms moeilijk de aandacht van het bedienend personeel te trekken. De rose cremant van Poepel is bijzonder mals in de mond, heel smakelijk. De brioche met foie gras was de 25 euro bij lange na niet waard, de paling bovenop het minieme plakje foie gras overheerste en was ook nog eens te koud. De kroketjes met comte kaas waren laf van smaak, je proeft amper de kaas en is de naam kroket niet eens waardig want gemaakt met een of andere dikke deeglaag eromheen. Bah. De Caesar salade was perfect, smakelijk en rijk gevuld. De steak tartaar komt zonder frites, die moet je apart bij bestellen en betalen, raar. De bestelde truffel zat er niet op en moest nog gehaald worden. 35 euro voor een steak tartaar met wat truffel maar zonder frites is echt veel te duur. De ambities van een grande brasserie worden hier (nog) niet waargemaakt.

A classic place it’s always a must on a trip, but my experience was disappointing the quality of the meat was not what I say premium, the service was not at the level either looks like the waitress was kind of tired of attending new people. Been in better places at least in terms of customer service

Vriendelijke ontvangst, alles was zogenaamd gereserveerd dus we werden in een klein hoekje naast de voordeur gedirigeerd aan een bistrotafeltje en ongelukkige stoeltjes. Vlotte gastheer maar die verdween verder uit beeld en werden bediend door een schooljongens van hooguit 17 die heel erg zijn best deed maar zero horeca ervaring had. Hadden er al eens eerder gegeten een paar maanden geleden, inmiddels hebben ze de prijzen gigantisch verhoogd. De steak au poivre is nu opeens 36€ ((Was in augustus nog 26 of 28€...) en daar komt dan nog frites bij à 6 € en sla à 6€ bij= 48€. Niet bepaald bistro prijzen. Echter uitstekende steak met verrukkelijke pepersaus. Vooraf 3 karige coquilles, ook verder goed maar ook weer tegen een heftige prijs (24€). De wijnen gaan minstens 3 à 4x over de kop en zo kost de goedkoopste Sancerre 72€. Past totaal niet in de Franse bistro filosofie van juist de toegankelijkheid van het genre. Zo kom je met z'n tweeën zonder dessert met een fles water en 2 espresso uit op een denderende 240€. En of dat het dan waard was gezeten aan een wankel tafeltje met een kind in de bediening..... Bij het weggaan om 20.30 uur was overigens hooguit 20% van de tafels bezet, dus hoezo 'alles is gereserveerd...'

De entourage, de sfeer, het eten, alles heel fijn a la France. Wijn en ook de menukaart echt frans georiënteerd maar absoluut in orde, bediening losjes, af en toe wat joviaal maar prima. Wat mij betreft Echt een aanrader !

We were truly taken care of by Chef Michael at the Chef’s Table - it was such an unforgettable dining experience! With front row seats, we saw how Chef Michael and his team prepared each dish with passion and precision. We loved each dish especially the oysters, langoustine and duck! If you’re lucky you may even get to try his signature dessert. Can’t recommend it enough!

It's a good place. Not excellent - the devil is in details. + steak tartare had good balance of acid and saltiness + tenderloin was juicy and the pepper sauce was goos + waitress was nice and friendly + inside was quite cozy - why would tartare come w/o yolk and sauce? Why do I have to pay 30eur for this - noone offered us a bread basket. Which is nonsense when you serve escargot and all the herbs and butter need smth to collect - feels like i was cheated on lobster's claws - there is definitely more meat in those - waited 10 mins to pay after we got a bill - light on the wall was blinking, which was quite annoying

Delicious food, the French atmosphere is reflected in everything and a business with staff who show genuine interest and attention to the customer. When we actually wanted to order the vegetables separately from another dish on the menu, the service immediately went to see what they could arrange with the kitchen.

Went to dinner with colleagues. The food was certainly good but the price/quality ratio was a bit out of balance. The wines were also relatively expensive. With the dessert (cheese board) no explanation was given about the presented pieces of cheese. All in all not bad but too expensive for what you get.

Had a delicious meal with my wife on Christmas Eve. It's nice and cozy. The Brioche with eel and Foie Gras was delicious, as was the steak tartare. The Duck Breast was one of the tastiest I have eaten to date, super tender and well seasoned. During this busy evening, the service was friendly and exuded calm. This was also noticeable during dinner. Highly recommended! We look forward to visiting Willams Farmhouse soon.

What an asset! 'Dad's' been on the road for a year and a half, but what a well-oiled machine. Some surprising dishes on the menu and a great experience because of the trio of chefs led by Driss. The Chef's Table is often the best place for a fun evening, but this one will undoubtedly stick around for a while. The extremely relaxed atmosphere and beautiful menu colored our evening in the combination with the nice connection with the kitchen. Definitely do it - we will be back!

So if you decided you didn’t like the taste the restaurant has the risk of ending up with an open bottle. Unpleasantly they still charged the whole bottle. We tried maybe 1-3 sips and it was way too sweet. The response was very cynical and arrogant. As we didn’t expect it to be soo sweet everyone can make a mistake. We behaved decently and I took 1-2 sips same as testing to find out that it was out of balance Wine is at its best with its poured into proper size wine glass but the guy didn’t get it….while they sell over 50+ wines. Nonetheless it shouldn’t be such a hassle if someone asks kindly ! Will you respond the same to someone prestige if they ask for a glass that is more suitable? I’m half convinced it wouldn’t….as Dutch people are pretty demanding in such places After having starter, main and desert this was a slap in the face. If we mentioned and agreed to taste the wine beforehand they would end up with an open bottle as well…. Yet they decided to charge this bottle so tipping was not the right thing to do anymore. AFFER Not mentioning they would charge the not so nicely tasting wine and they seemed annoyed from the start! I been to Paris many times and never stumbled upon arrogant behaviour bc the French deliver unlike these socially uneducated restaurant staff If you wanna be all French and really be a decent restaurant learn from the hospitality in Paris! I had potatoes out of the oven spring 2024 yet the server passive aggressively told me they didn’t carry it for about a year….which is obviously not true. While I clearly told her french fries and potatoes out of the oven. She faulted me why she was just so busy as my friend overheard me ordering clearly….the lady in question bluntly said I was lying ! How do you even discuss with a quest ? The food is partly great; meat dishes are fresh. Don’t take the add-one of truffel it’s tasteless. Paying 15 euro for truffle that has no taste…even on my fries is a pretty bad Starter with caviar not any taste either….as caviar is pretty salty and flavourful Very bland Green salad were just leaves while before was served with haricots verts and radishes. Making it special and suitable for the overall menu and pricing. So actually they are serving less for the same price But the service is not a match with the greatness of Parisian cuisine and the warmness of the French people. Believe it or not even middle class restaurant are the most welcoming and service oriented places in France Staff is unprofessional and complaining loudly. . I guess they are nice to people who fit the look of “old money” or I don’t know why you would be so rude to guests that could decide to come more often and hence support your business. They obviously don’t care! We hebben hier gedineerd . Ziet er leuk uit. De zaak is verdeeld in 2 ruimtes. Heel anders qua stijl maar allebei leuk. Het tussen gedeelte met uitzicht op de trap is zeer ongezellig om te zitten. Eten vonden wij prima maar niet bijzonder. Service was matig. Voor ons niet voor herhaling vatbaar.
