Pricey, but a nice menu with classics of very good, fresh quality. Very happy with the tuna-avocado tartare.

This restaurant is no longer what it used to be. The quality and quantity of the food were far below par. For example, the ordered steak was a small piece of steak on a plate that was otherwise bare. The soy foam with the tuna was nothing but white liquid. The crème brûlée had a sugar layer that was far too thick; it was liquid and warm at the edges and cold in the middle. The Caesar salad was some iceberg lettuce with a few hard pieces of dried-out chicken, without dressing and without the requested avocado. The price-quality ratio can only be described as very poor, and the service was, to put it mildly, mediocre.

On Saturday evening, we wanted to have a bite to eat at George's. We had stopped by an hour in advance to reserve our table. We were allowed to choose a table. When we arrived, we told the waitress that we had reserved a table. She said we could take a seat. After fifteen minutes, she still hadn't come by to take our drinks order or bring the menu (which is perfectly fine when it's busy, etc.), but then two gentlemen walked up and were led by her to the table next to us, where they were immediately given the menu and could order drinks. She didn't look up or around at us and just walked away again. After a few minutes, still no service. Then we walked away, and I walked over to her to tell her what had just happened and that we weren't being served, while the gentlemen next to us were served immediately. The only thing she could manage to say was: "Oh, okay." No apologies, etc. Very poor service, therefore.

I had dinner with friends yesterday. The food was nothing special: on the plate, a piece of chicken, some very thin sauce, and a piece of lemon. The side dishes come extra; the tiny olive cans on the table, priced at 6 € each, are a statement. Please check the bill thoroughly if they are charged when not consumed. I would not recommend the place to friends.

Nicely located in a shopping mall. Food was ok but average. Something happen and the food took a long time to arrive. Too be fair the servers gave us free drinks and offered apologies.

We stopped at Bistro G.P by George as our second choice after our first choice of restaurants rudely told us they were closed for a private event even though their sign said only the upstairs was closed. We were quickly greeted by staff and they made a table for four when everything was set up for a max of three. Our waiter Omar was very attentive even though it was a busy evening. He made sure my Wife's Mushroom allergy was noted and explained what items she could not have. The food was amazing and Omar's service was ten times better than the food. We had such a great dining experience we came back the next night as well. Our meals were just as amazing and Omar somehow exceeded his attentiveness and kindness compared to the previous night. If we had more time in Amsterdam, we would eat here again and we would request Omar as our waiter. Thank you for two unforgettable and amazing evenings!!!

The food and service was amazing! We got seated right away even though they were extremely busy and our server was really nice! The food was amazing, highly recommend the ceasar salad! It's a great place for having a drink and/or grabbing food, highly recommend!

I come here regularly, but the quality of the food is really declining. If you serve such classics, they have to be perfect. Mini sole that really isn't worthy of a main course. So fine for a drink or a small dish, but unfortunately no longer for dinner.

Omgosh what a great restaurant! The food is amazing and the waitstaff is attentive and friendly. We are in town for a week and will be eating here multiple times since there is so much we want to try from the menu! Highly recommend it!

Not really a special place. In relation to the ambiance, it is on the expensive side. The service is mediocre and certainly not good. In short: an average experience that isn't really worth the price.

Bistro G.P. by George is a fantastic discovery for anyone looking for a high-quality lunch experience. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and very well-decorated. The food was absolutely delicious, prepared with fresh ingredients and presented beautifully on the plate. The service was also impeccable—the staff was attentive and made sure everything was perfect throughout the meal. We had a delicious meal and there is a nice atmosphere when it gets a bit busier inside. It is also very nice that the menu is so extensive. You can order a lot, and for smaller eaters, there is also something from the lunch or dinner menu if you want to eat a bit more. The service is friendly too.

The steak tartare was soo good, and the service is very nice and props to our cook Sielas. Very nice will be returning soon!

Nice atmosphere and delicious food

The place is incredible. The setting and the atmosphere is very good. I had the half chicken and it tasted amazing.

The welcome was nice and even funny (the waiter made corny jokes). Service was smooth. The food was okay. I had a toast with avocado, bacon, tomatoes, and a poached egg. It's a shame that you get the "bottom" of the tomatoes on your toast and that the poached egg (which was a bit on the small side) was literally on the edge of my plate and not on my toast. Unfortunately, the food didn't agree with me, because an hour later I got a terrible stomach ache and had to go to the toilet immediately.

Last Christmas Eve, December 24, 2025! We dined here at the invitation of my partner's cousin. Our cousin comes here often and is always satisfied with By George, and we experienced the same. We had a delicious dinner and the staff were wonderfully friendly.

Great restaurant with good food. Came here for lunch since it looks always full when I crossed by and was not disppointed. The food was tasty and super recommend the sweet potato fries comes with truffle mayo, the mayo was such the highlight, I could actually taste the truffel in there. Just one feedback is if people try to speak Dutch, please try to response in Dutch, that would be very helpful for people to practise their Dutch in Amsterdam.

Orderded via uber eats today and the order came soaked, everything leaking. Packaging open, with food moving freely in the bag. Uber denied a refund, or a solution (with the reasoning that I had requested a previous refund for a similar issue). Partner with companies you can trust to not damage your restaurant’s image. What we could eat of the food was good (fries & salad)

Yesterday my wife and I ordered salmon at this restaurant and we both ended up with HORRIBLE food poisoning that wrecked us. Within 1-2 hours we started with violent nausea, nonstop vomiting, explosive diarrhea, excruciating abdominal pain, skin flushing, heart palpitations and overall misery that forced us to the ER and ruined our night (and most of the next day). The salmon tasted off – metallic or spicy – and was obviously not in good condition: likely bad storage (histamine buildup), dirty handling or not properly frozen/cooked. This wasn’t just a bad meal, it’s a real health hazard. Absolutely HORRIBLE experience from start to finish. Hygiene is nonexistent or criminal. I recommend this place to NO ONE. Avoid it like the plague until they prove they can handle cold chain and fish quality properly. Never again!

Let's say first that I don't live in Amsterdam, but I had the opportunity to stop there for work. Food was really good, I really enjoyed it. Service good, but I really care more about the food, that I found not cheap, but I am not from the area.

Two main courses and two cups of coffee: €65. The main course consisted of a medium-sized piece of meat with herb butter, which tasted very good. There were also three tablespoons of salad, and that was it. The salad was actually more of a decoration. No vegetables or fries were included. Conclusion: the meat was good, but for €29, this isn't a meal.

The service was good but the food was definitely lacking for the price. Our table ordered a a lobster bisque, burgers, lobster eggs and the Philly steak. Maybe the kitchen was off today but was left a little disappointed.

It used to be a nice restaurant, but it's now outdated because the menu prices are shockingly expensive. After the pandemic, not all restaurants are the same. It's no fun when you spend more than €50 per person on dinner... and then "I don't even convert it to guilders"... then I'd lose my faith. I don't know if restaurant owners will survive, but I'm going to be even more selective about my choices. Main courses should be between €16 and €23. Anything above that is expensive.

The food was terrible. The avocado toast with chicken looked awful and tasted unappetizing; it looked like it had been sitting out all day. The lobster roll was supposed to be a soft roll, but it was soft, but reheated and completely dry and hard. There was also a lemon slice on the roll, which made everything taste very much like that. We did report that the avocado toast wasn't good, but nothing was done about it. It's a shame, because it's a nice place and the staff are friendly.

Everything was terrible. The meat was awful, the music was blaring, and the staff started cleaning around you well before closing time. The chairs were awful. Such a terrible experience, I'd definitely avoid it.

I loved everything we ordered. The people are amazing and the food is even better. They have these cute cards on the table, which can be used as ice breakers! Loved that.

We had to wait for 30minutes for the waiters to come and get our orders. After we ordered, we had to wait another 20 minutes and finally made a complain to the waiter. And he was very impolite and said you are sitting in the corner of the restaurant and we font attend that part of the restaurant that much. After 50minutes we left without being served !!!

We had a very disappointing experience here. Despite calling the staff multiple times — even walking up to the counter — we were ignored repeatedly. After the third attempt, someone finally approached us, but with visible frustration. Even after placing our order, we weren’t served for another 15 minutes. At that point, we decided to leave and speak with a supervisor. Surprisingly, we were told, “We didn’t see you,” even though we were sitting right in front of the main entrance. We understand that busy moments can happen, but the attitude and lack of basic courtesy were truly unacceptable.

Terrible! Had coffee with a friend and sat in the sun. Until we decided to order mint tea. The waitress didn't know which table she should be at so we said it was meant for us, in English and with a gesture of "talk to the hand" she said "No, not for you", after which she went to tables to ask who had ordered mint tea. She walked back to us and asked "for you"? Why I answered No, not for us. Her boss came to explain that she was new and whether we wanted to show understanding, but for us the tone had already been set and we wanted to pay. The bill was supposed to follow but that didn't happen. Only when we got up was it said On The House, but we were no longer welcome there due to a cultural issue that we had caused, according to the owner. We, 2 Surinamese friends, just wanted to sit on a terrace with a cup of mint tea.

We hadden 3 simpele biefstukjes met pepersaus besteld, het duurde lang voordat het eten kwam en toen het er was bleek dat ons vlees doorbakken was en dit terwijl wij om medium gevraagd hadden. De medewerker biedt aan een nieuwe te bakken maar wij gaven al eerder aan naar een concert te moeten, en we hadden al zo lang gewacht . De biefstuk was doorbakken en de pepersaus was amper te zien bizar dit. De medewerker gaf niet eens oog contact niet eens een excuses of misschien een tegemoetkoming van een drankje . We zijn niet geholpen door de medewerker die ons altijd helpt want dat is een top vent. Ik kom er al jaren we organiseren zelfs onze lunches met ons bedrijf en waren altijd tevreden. We gaan van af nu ergens anders heen. Heel erg jammer !

Ik begrijp dat alles heel duur geworden is maar als je voor de huiswijn € 8,10 gaat vragen terwijl je deze wijn voor 8,50 per fles in de winkel kan kopen ga je toch een stap te ver. Daarbij is de menukaart al ik weet niet hoe lang hetzelfde en niet bijzonder. ( niet slecht en niet zeer bijzonder) De prijs/kwaliteit verhouding is ver te zoeken.

I’ve been to this restaurant twice, and both times the experience was disappointing. The staff were unfriendly, the food was overpriced, and the brownie in particular was not only expensive but also far from fresh.

We had a lovely lunch experience. The food and food variety is great. A vegetarian, meat and fish lovers: we all had plenty of choice. The service team is welcoming, warm, helpful, alert, solves things immediately and gracefully: one of the oyster shelves was barely filled, no problem we immediately got a new one. We have already planned our next lunch in Bistro G.P. George

Met mijn tante hier lekker geluncht. Uitgebreide kaart, lekkere koffie en ontzeteend vriendelijke bediening. Lekkere break tijdens het winkelen. En omdat mijn tante 100 jaar was geworden deze week, kreeg ze een gebakje cadeau. Zo lief.

Wonderful place for lunch! The service is very hospitable and the menu attractive. I chose the salad nicoise, delicious with lukewarm, perfectly medium cooked tuna and a Caesar salad. The dishes tasted fantastic. Highly recommended to go.

George is nothing short of an amazing restaurant. The usual for me is the steak frites which is cooked amazingly and a very solid place for steak frites. The price in addition is very ok compared to other restaurants and the location. 😋😋

Very welcome and good hosting. You will be served above average and with warmth and feeling. Compliments. The food (and drinks) are also just good. No budget, but not expensive either. The tables and seating areas are on the small side, but temperature (control) in particular is an area for improvement. It was a chilly day, but it was drafty and cold (despite an extra gas heater nearby)

Good food, not complicated. Fresh and recognizable, not exciting or surprising. Fairly smooth. Service correct but sometimes absent. Atmosphere, remains in a busy environment, other guests do not interfere with each other, tables are close together and a bit small. Good lunch location, I would be less likely to do this for dinner.

All the cuisine by fish are highly recommended.
