Very popular place for breakfast. The food is quite good. Sweet waitresses.

I heard this was a great spot in Amsterdam for a light omelette, so I went late morning—it was already fully booked, and I had to wait in line, but the service was so fast and friendly that I got seated right away. The omelette was delicious, and thanks to the friendly service, I'm leaving with a great memory.

Indeed, generous portions of omelet. If you're looking for something that opens early near the central station, this is a good place. Everything is very well coordinated. The orange juice is indeed freshly squeezed.

The food was delicious, the service was quick but not great. I ordered a peppercorn and they said they didn't have any. I asked for ice and they didn't bring it. It was crowded and the tables were packed together. The food made up for it.

Hands down the best spot to kick off your Amsterdam trip. The location is unbeatable: take the train straight from Schiphol Airport to Amsterdam Centraal, walk about five minutes, and you’re there. The space is small, cozy, and beautifully put together. Be ready to wait in line for a table, but it moves quickly and is 100% worth it. The omelettes are incredible - fluffy, packed with fresh toppings - and the coffee hits the spot immediately. Prices felt totally reasonable, though it was my very first stop and my first time visiting the city. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. If you're about to clock in miles walking through these stunning streets, fuel up here first. Start your Amsterdam exploration right at this table. Trust me, you won’t regret it!

You like eggs? This is the place. Lots of option for the egg lovers out there. Not alot of seating but the staff is awesome we waited maybe 10min for a table so don't be discouraged by the line up.

Despite an interminable wait (35 minutes) around 12:45 PM, due to its popularity, we had a very good meal. The omelets were flavorful and perfectly runny, and the staff was welcoming and efficient. Highly recommended.

The food is really good! The main reason I’m not giving 5 stars is the coffee. I expected much better coffee, rather than the kind served from an automatic machine, like the coffee you would get at a gas station. The restaurant is also almost always very crowded, which unfortunately affects the overall experience. Sometimes it feels like the staff are rushing you through your meal and just waiting for you to leave so they can seat the next guests. To be clear, the food is excellent, but the disappointing coffee and the overall atmosphere are the reasons for my 4 star rating.

I don’t get the hype tbh. Literally a fried egg with vegetables tossed under it. Saw the chef doing the omelettes and he used the same napkin to wipe his hands as he did to wipe the pan. When I asked whether the eggs are fully cooked, the waitress said we can note it but can’t promise. I later said I was pregnant and that’s when she said nothing (a fully cooked egg is so basic imo). Very underwhelmed. Not bad. Just not great from both a food and service perspective.

The eggs were average. The plates were large. The staff were friendly. It was crowded.

Tried the Shakshuka and the Greek Island one. The shakshuka was too small for the price but ok, not the best one i’ve had. The Greek one was an interesting mix of flavors, not my favorite either. Pretty basic for a restaurant that only makes eggs. Had higher expectations.

Really enjoyed this no-fuss omelette/egg restaurant. Great range of food on offer, some of the omelette fillings where really interesting. We had a spicy sausage, a greek wedding and a Viking fisherman. All were delicious! Good offer and fresh juice on offer as well. Speedy and friendly service. They don't take bookings, so be prepared for a short wait if you want to give it a try. Gluten free bread on offer for those that want it.

If you're willing to wait a little, this is one of the best, perhaps the best, breakfasts you'll have in Amsterdam.

We came here because of the great reviews and we were not disappointed. Eggs were prepared exactly how we wanted them and were delicious. We were the 1st customers for Laura who did a great job serving us and made our experience memorable. We wish her the best🙏🏻 Please note seating is limited and there’s usually a waiting line. Trust me, it is worth the wait.

Great breakfast location, only 24 spots so get here early or be prepared to wait. The queue was at least a dozen people while we ate. Worth the wait if you do, really nice eggs, omelettes and fresh rye bread.

In my opinion, this is the best restaurant in Amsterdam. Every time I'm in the city, this place becomes my go-to lunch spot. The omelets are generously filled, delicious, and reasonably priced for what you get. The restaurant's ambiance and decor add to its charm. I always look forward to going back.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere! Jazz music in the background was the Cherry on top. You have to take chorizo and jalapenos, its the best.

The eggs at Omlegg are consistently great. However, if you want a relaxed breakfast or lunch, do yourself a favour and visit one of their other sites or head somewhere else. We consistently felt like they were trying to get us out to make way for the long line outside. It makes sense to clear tables quickly, but not at the expense of people feeling relaxed. Our table was cleared as soon as dishes were empty, and though they asked if we wanted anything else, it was clearly with the tone of 'please finish up quickly and leave'. I would suggest the restaurant either open up bookings with fixed time slots if this is their desired approach.

The food was great, but it's overpriced for an omelette. We had to wait in a queue for about 15 minutes before entering, and the staff were working under pressure, yet kept it professional and were smiling. The place inside is small; tables are very close to each other.

Every time I go, I always have a wonderful time. The food is delicious and simple, and you can add whatever you like. The staff is incredibly lovely and helpful. The price is a little high for eggs, but we're on vacation! We don't count the cost :) Let's enjoy life!

The restaurant has very limited tables, so you'll have to wait in line for a while at the entrance, but you'll get to eat a very delicious omelet. We ordered one with Turkish sausage and one with pastrami, and both were delicious in their own way. You also see many Turks in the restaurant :) You shouldn't leave Amsterdam without trying an omelet here.

On top of that, the staff are super friendly, welcoming, and attentive. What really sets it apart is how spotless everything is. Very disappointing and unnecessarily rude experience. I came in alone first just to check whether there were any available tables, while my girlfriend was literally about a minute away. There were two available tables, both for exactly two people. The waitress offered me one of them and told me I could sit down. I politely asked if we could take the other table instead, simply because it was more comfortable. Both tables were the same size and intended for two guests. She then asked whether I was alone or with someone. I explained that there were two of us and that my girlfriend would arrive in literally about a minute. To my surprise, I was then told that if I was waiting for someone, I should wait outside so that other customers could take the table. I explained again that we were two people, that my girlfriend was arriving immediately, and that we had come specifically to have breakfast. After that, several members of staff became involved and the whole interaction became unnecessarily confrontational and, in my opinion, quite rude. Eventually, I was given a menu. A couple of minutes later, a waitress came over and asked if I was ready to order. I simply asked for one more minute because my girlfriend was about to arrive. At that point, she took the menu away and told me that they would not serve me and that I had to leave. I completely understand that a busy restaurant needs to manage its tables efficiently. But there were two available tables, both for two people, we were a party of two, and the second person was literally about to arrive. I was not asking them to hold a larger table, nor was I planning to sit there without ordering. A polite explanation of their policy would have been absolutely fine. Instead, the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily hostile and extremely unwelcoming. We came here specifically for breakfast and were ready to order and spend money. Instead, we left because of the way I was treated. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I cannot recommend this place.

The food was very good, but unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. We were served by an Argentine waitress who was extremely rude and unprofessional. She didn’t even ask if we had finished our food before taking our plates away. She also asked us to move to another table, without even saying “please” or explaining the reason politely. Overall, the food was good, but the service definitely affected our experience.

After settling into our hotel near Amsterdam, we chose Omelegg for breakfast. It was one of the places on our list. We didn't have to wait in line, the service was quick, and the food was filling and delicious. They have a wide variety of omelets, and you can even create your own by choosing your own ingredients. It was also good value for money by Amsterdam standards.

This was our first choice for breakfast in Amsterdam. The atmosphere is lovely, and the portions are generous. I created my own plate, and we ordered Pulled Chicken for my wife. We enjoyed both dishes. I highly recommend it 🍳🍴

Definitely not worth waiting in such a long queue. After waiting for so long, our expectations were naturally quite high, but what we got simply wasn’t worth either the wait or the price. The eggs didn’t seem fresh, and the avocado was in poor condition. It’s honestly difficult to understand why people wait so long for such a basic breakfast. There are plenty of alternatives just a few streets away, including lovely places by the canals where you can enjoy a similar breakfast in a much nicer atmosphere. Waiting this long and then paying these prices simply didn’t make sense to us. I think what makes this place so popular has more to do with its social-media reputation than the actual quality of the food. Perhaps people see the huge queue and assume there must be something extraordinary waiting inside. We certainly didn’t find it. If your time in Amsterdam is limited, I’d recommend spending it enjoying the city rather than standing in this queue.

They made us leave the table, claiming it was for four people, and explicitly said, "I can't serve you." I really don't understand how a breakfast place can treat customers so harshly, rudely, and inhospitably. What justification could there be for refusing to serve a customer just because three people were sitting at a four-person table, especially when our other friend was on their way? I would have expected a much more professional approach from a place that seems so popular and has such long queues. I think how people are treated before the food is important. For me, it was an extremely bad and unnecessarily unpleasant experience. I will not go again. 🇬🇧 English Definitely not recommended. After waiting in a long queue, we finally sat down. Drie klanten weigeren te bedienen omdat ze aan een tafel voor vier zitten — terwijl er bovendien nog iemand onderweg is — heeft wat mij betreft weinig met gastvrijheid te maken. Voor een zaak waar mensen zo lang voor in de rij staan ​​en die zo populair is, had ik veel meer professionaliteit en vriendelijkheid verwacht. Everything was delicious. We ordered the Deluxe Salmon, the Ham & Farmer Cheese, and the Chicken Pesto, and they were all fantastic. They had a small issue with our order, as it took quite a while, but they resolved it quickly and with a smile. They even offered us drinks as compensation, which we really appreciated. Special mention to Estrella, our waitress, who provided excellent service throughout our meal. She took care to resolve the misunderstanding and was very attentive and friendly. We would definitely return. Highly recommended!

A reliable address for those with gluten intolerance in the center of Amsterdam: at Omelegg, bread alternatives are readily available, and the staff is knowledgeable. The omelets are generous. Two minor improvements: fresh ice cubes in the juices during the summer, and a slight digestive discomfort we experienced late in the morning, the cause of which remains unclear.

Went there for breakfast while we had a lay-off in Amsterdam and we loved it!! We ordered a custom omelette, scrambled eggs with a croissant and a banana-cinnamon-peanutbutter omelette. We were lucky with the seating, as we didn’t have to wait. But I’ve noticed that there formed a line out the door (understandably so!). The place is small, but very cosy. Staff was very kind, attentive and quick. Food was delicious, worth the price and filling. The menu was long, and I believe that anyone can find something they like (or even build their own omelette). The coffee was also very nice. I recommend this place for a good value meal.

A very disappointing experience. The food quality was far below my expectations; despite being a simple omelette and egg dish, it was not good at all. However, the biggest problem was the attitude of the staff. They were extremely rude and disrespectful, and I did not feel comfortable at all. Solid breakfast, extra star for having fresh squeezed orange juice, although it was room temperature and not cold. We stumbled into Omelegg right after arriving in Amsterdam on Saturday morning, just after 8:00 AM. We received a friendly welcome. Since there were two of us, we were shown to a small table in the middle of the cozy restaurant. Of the eight or nine tables, four were already occupied. Unfortunately, the air conditioning cooled the dining area down considerably, making it rather uncomfortable in what should have been a cozy restaurant. We ordered the Omelette Salmon Deluxe (mine was without avocado) and the Croissant Scramblicious. We also had a freshly squeezed orange juice and a cappuccino. The freshly prepared breakfast was truly delicious, although the omelette wasn't quite cooked through (but that might just be a matter of personal taste). The service was friendly and attentive. We can wholeheartedly recommend Omelegg in the heart of Amsterdam.

July 20, 2026 (Monday) The kitchen is open, but there's no oily smell, which is reassuring. Eggs are expensive in the Netherlands, but here you can eat them without worry. The seating is just right, a little cramped, probably because many people bring their luggage. The overall atmosphere is very warm and inviting. The staff are very friendly, cute, and handsome. If the restaurant doesn't include breakfast or you haven't had eggs in a while, I recommend this place. The quality is consistently good, but there's no need to queue.

Delicious food, but unfortunately always crowded and packed.

Unfortunately, it's not a child-friendly place. My 2-year-old daughter had to stand to eat. When we asked for chairs when they were available, they reluctantly agreed with grumpy faces. They use the same pans for all the dishes, which is a drawback for those sensitive to pork. There are much better places in the area with much tastier options. This place remained an overrated experience for us.

The tortillas were really, really good—big and juicy. The coffee was also very good. They have sweet options too, but I'd highlight the tortillas.

If you're willing to wait in line on a narrow street, they have delicious omelets, I recommend them.

This is a charming little restaurant with a lovely interior and country-style music playing in the background. The service is very friendly and good. The pulled chicken I ordered had a nice egg texture, but the seasoning was too simple, with too much barbecue sauce. The food and service were good, but what I found most unpleasant was the extremely loud noise from the kitchen staff clearing tables. There were constant clinking sounds of pots and dishes, which was very disruptive. I went an hour before closing time at 3:30 pm, so it's understandable that they were cleaning up, but I wish they had been a little more considerate of the customers who were eating. It was a shame.

The waiters working were very very rude

Even though I went on a weekday morning, there was a queue. The number of staff is low compared to the number of tables; they were serving only 20 people on January 2nd. Because of this, you arrive 40 minutes after placing your order. The portion is quite filling and delicious. The staff were very polite.

Not worth the hype. Don’t go there if you are more than 2 persons - you will literally be skipped over by the staff, even when patiently waiting more than 45 mins in line (expect to stand in line at least that long) We were skipped over 3 times, just because we had the outrages audacity to be 3 persons - we could clearly see empty chairs 🪑 inside the (way too small) establishment, so it was entirely possible for the staff to arrange a table for us, but they consistently chose to pick 2 persons from the line behind us - I guess it’s better for the bottom line for the egg snobs there. This is what happens when you chose profit over being nice.

Tourist trap. The omelet was completely bland, with no flavor at all. It tasted like it was made without any salt or seasoning. It was very disappointing, especially for the price. I can easily make a much better omelet at home.

Good omelets and good quality ingredients for toppings. Generous sized piece of rye bread included. The latte and iced latte were fine but average. Solid breakfast option in the area. As noted in other reviews, it's a small place. They do have seating and booth for groups of four but it's certainly cramped and they do get busy quickly.

There was a very strong egg smell inside, which was quite unpleasant. The queue wasn't very long, but unfortunately, the taste wasn't satisfying for a place that specializes solely in eggs.
