I couldn’t choose between 4 (too low) and 5 (too high) stars and decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. The staff is attentive and polite, nothing to complain about. The interior is pleasant, but there was a smell from the kitchen when we came. Portions are quite generous, and marinated meat was good. I got mixed meat grill and my boyfriend had grilled dorade. Dorade had a tiny undercooked part, but the rest of the dishes were well made. Stuffed Mushrooms starter was tasty. Complementary bread was fresh and even hot. I can recommend the place!

Tonight, together with two colleagues, I had another delicious meal at Orontes in De Pijp. It is a true family business, and you can tell by the warm atmosphere, the personal attention, and the friendly, pleasant service. The food was exquisite once again: flavorful, fresh, and with excellent value for money. The reservation system is also pleasant and clear to use. For me, this was certainly not the first time at Orontes, and definitely not the last. Highly recommended for anyone who loves delicious Turkish food and genuine hospitality! Paulo

We found this restaurant by chance and had a great evening. The staff was very friendly and nice and the food was delicious. We had a couple of different starters that we shared and also another fish. It was plenty of food and everything was very good. we will definitely come back. There's a nice terrace outside with a couple of tables. It can be a bit louder as it is on the main street but at our visit it was totally fine.

Mezze’s with lots of sunflower oil, very oily food and sadly not olive oil, when I asked the waiter about why are they using sunflower oil she said because olive oil is expensive 🤣

Great Turkish restaurant! We ordered hummus and Tavuk Pirzola(grilled chicken)served with bulgur and salad. The food was delicious, well-seasoned, and the portions are generous — more than enough to fill you up. Service was excellent and fast, staff were very friendly. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, so you can pick what suits your mood. Tip: Book ahead if you’re going for dinner. It gets busy.

The food selection is excellent and the food is delicious, and the staff are friendly. I especially recommend trying their bulgur pilaf, which I would say is the best I've ever had.

Overall the food was decent. Kuzu şiş was tender and enjoyable. However, the Adana kebab was quite dry and did not really taste like authentic Adana. Additionally, the bread and the presentation could definitely be improved.

Brilliant Turkish food. A mix of culinary traditions, Turkish, Greek and Middle Eastern in a laid back, friendly atmosphere. Turkish pop music from the 70s and 80s, and the friendliest service I’ve encountered in Amsterdam.

We visited this place for a meal, but unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. We didn’t enjoy the food at all; the flavors were lacking and didn't meet our expectations. As for the service, it was just mediocre—not terrible, but certainly not attentive or welcoming either. Given the overall experience, I wouldn't recommend it if you're looking for quality food or great hospitality.

One of the very few good Turkish restaurants in town. The team is super energetic and friendly. All of the plates are yummy but the food you must try are: Babaganuc, Oruk and Beyti. Imam Bayildi is a good VEG alternative. Good wine bottles from Turkiye are on the menu, give them a try.

Everything was great! You should definitely try their Beyti and Turkish wines. Starters were very tasty and a wide variety of Mediterranean style.Service was very fast and friendly they always asked if everything is fine that’s very sweet.

We didn't have a main course, we had appetizers, but they were bad. A foreigner might like it, but someone who's had a few drinks at a rakı table would easily realize how bad it is. Don't order the tea. Also, we didn't have an argument, but a few comments from the servers were the kind that could easily provoke someone who's had a lot of alcohol at a rakı table; we didn't like it.

The food is excellent, just like grandma's homemade food. The portions are generous, and the selection isn't extensive, but that speaks in their favor, as the "few" dishes they do serve are truly delicious. A little pricey, but in line with Amsterdam prices. I highly recommend it.

What a wonderful restaurant. I have been coming here for years and the quality has remained consistent throughout. The fish and meat are grilled over charcoal and all side dishes are prepared with flavour. The prices have gone up slightly over the years, but not as exorbitantly as at most restaurants. In short, highly recommended.

I have been coming here for 20 years—but yesterday was the last time. The food is mediocre and the staff indifferent. The meze were of mediocre quality. We didn't even finish one—even though we were all still hungry—but it was simply inedible. (The shrimp) The staff were conspicuously absent—having to spend 5 minutes searching and waving to order something. And they all refused to speak Dutch. The fact that someone thinks it is normal to go to a country to work in a job with a lot of customer contact and then refuses to learn even basic greetings in the local language always amazes me greatly. Just send them on a language course.

This was my first time at Orontes, but definitely not my last. I think it's a fantastic restaurant. The service was very friendly and knowledgeable. It also has a cozy, almost living-room atmosphere. My companions and I lingered for quite a while, but we never felt like we had to hurry. That's a relaxing and very pleasant experience. There's a wide selection of exceptionally delicious food on the menu. The Adana kebab and Beyti were high quality and I highly recommend both. I also thought the portions were just right. I'll definitely be back soon!

We decided to come here unexpectedly and were really not looking for the most amazing food, we were beyond surprised. My boyfriend had chicken skewers and I had a grilled fish, AMAZING! Food was incredible, we will be definitely coming back. The restaurant is very romantic and picturesque. Staff is super nice!

Outstanding. We happened on this gem while wandering the Museum District of Amsterdam. This was our first time trying Turkish food and our meal was terrific. We shared their cold octopus salad as our starter, then had the grilled branzino and grilled lamb filet on skewers as our mains. Our dessert of kunefe was fantastic and we would have that again anytime. Moreover, it was clear Orontes De Pijp is very much a hit with local residents, especially young families with toddlers. The families and kids appeared quite familiar to the servers and vice-versa. Very delightful to experience and this ambience added to a memorable meal.

Great night. Had the meze for three and all dishes were great and complemented each other well. Friendly people working there. Would definitely go back.

This restaurant is as authentic as it comes. It came recommended by a local resident. The food tasted very good. I like the fact that all the dishes (grilled fish, hummus, lamb chops, grilled ground meat) were not overly seasoned. They were fresh as well. They had homemade baklava which had the crunchy and airy texture, and not too sweet.

I’ve been eating at Orontes for years, and it has never disappointed me. Always a real treat! I usually start with a few appetizers: the babaganoush, mussels, and ispanak are my favorites. For the main course, I almost always go for the sea bream, and for meat dishes, the lamb chops or beyti are delicious. I’m getting hungry just writing about it...The atmosphere is great too, nothing pretentious, just authentic.

Food wasn't tasty. The portions were small. Also quite expensive for what you get. Service and ambience were ok. ! The pictures here in the reviews do not correspond to our experience at all. In the reviews the portions are a lot larger than ours.

Warm bread with tapenade on the house. A carafe of water was provided. A large, tasty dish. Fast and friendly service. A delicious meal.

Smiling faces, fast service, friendly approach. The only downside is the oil they use. Sunflower oil is not suitable for appetizers. A good olive oil would increase the cost a bit, but the quality would be second to none. Please take this into consideration.

Went there with big group! The arrangement was quite easy and the people were informative about their dishes. I would say that the actual dishes were bigger than we saw in picture. We were quite full by the end of the dinner. There few astounding dishes that i can recommend you: Voorgerecht that are awesome were Yogurt with Spinach and the cheesey mushroom. Main dishes that i took was Beygci, was great! I recommend take the mixed grill tho. Was great. Atmosphere was gezellig. Service quiet on time also. Price indeed was on higher side but still quite worth it. Oh, dont get the salmon. Portion was too small compared to the rest. And please please get the KUNEFEH! It was our highlight

We went there for celebration and we asked for non-alcohol (0%) beer. We kindly reminded few times. Of course they bringing in the glass not with bottle. But after we realised taste is different and asked them about, they first said that our beers were alcohol free. We insisted about the taste and smell, they checked and apparently it was NOT alcohol free ! It was regular high percentage alcohol beer ! Thanks to them, our anniversary dinner turned out to end of my husband’s sobriety. We saw servers and owner that evening. They were super comfortable about the mistake they made. We couldn’t even hear sorry from them after we explained my husband is not using any alcohol and our order HAS TO BE 0% ALCOHOL !!! We went there first and last time. Also food wasn’t good or we lost our appetite I am not sure. I don’t recommend this place- this location!

A Turkish restaurant offering excellent mezze to share. The meats and sauces, especially hummus and tzatziki, blend harmoniously. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant!

You absolutely won't regret your choice if you're looking for authentic Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. The Adana kebab and the Beyti were excellent! The bulgur and desserts too. The service was very good; the waitress took the time to describe the ingredients in the Salgam. Thank you to her. Well located, 5 minutes from a metro station. The prices reflect the quality of the dishes and are average (drinks + main course + desserts). The wait time is reasonable and logical, given the dishes take a long time to prepare. The restaurant attracts people of all languages; it's very intercultural! You can find all kinds of drinks, from çay to Turkish coffee, just like you're in Istanbul!

We loved the meal! We ordered the chef's selection of appetizers and a Turkish wine. Everything was delicious! The atmosphere is simple and rustic, giving it a very authentic feel. It's definitely worth it!

Everything was very delicious overall. We actually enjoyed the main courses much more than the mezes we absolutely loved them! I’ve been walking past this place every day for the past three years, and today was the first time I got to try it. The fact that the music was Turkish made me really happy. We arrived a bit early, so it was quiet at first, but later it got crowded and a bit noisy inside. The staff were friendly, and the place was clean and nicely decorated. Thank you we’ll be visiting often! The only thing that disappointed me was that there was no tea. Also, they said the wait time for the künefe would be 20–25 minutes, which felt quite long. But as I said, overall, it was a successful and tasty experience.

May 2025 update to the below comment: I do not like the food here anymore. İçli köfte was quite bad and the service overall was not good enough. —- Delicious Turkish food and cozy place. Make sure to try wines with mezes and adana kebab (yes all together).

The restaurant is very cosy. Service is great. Owner has a serious look but is very sincere. He and his staff are all friendly and caring. Mussels and shrimps appetizers are great. The grilled Sea bass is amazingly good. Must try. Price performance very good. Some reviews said portions are small but I think there are misunderstanding that those dishes are small appetizers, just like tapas, and by nature, portions are not big. Overall a very pleasant dining experience

I came to Orontes with a big group of friends and we had the best time here. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We got a mix of vegetarian, meat, and fish dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meals and emptied their plates. We felt like home here and really enjoyed our conversations with the staff. Thank you to the Orontes team for ensuring we enjoy to the fullest and making this experience so pleasant. It is not always so easy to book for a large group, really appreciate the ease with this reservation.
