We stumbled here while having a stroll through De Pijp. Was a great find. We had no reservation and they did their best to seat us. I would recomend a reservation.The food was excellent! Service friendly. Great experience overal! I will be back, with a reservation! 😊

Had a great meal at Orontes de Pijp! The flavors of the Mediterranean kitchen really come into their own here. The grilled dishes were perfectly prepared and the mezes were delicious. In addition, the atmosphere was warm and cozy, and the service friendly and attentive. An absolute must, I will definitely come back!

Fantastic evening (13-02-2025) at Orontes! We recently celebrated my mother's birthday with 14 family members at Restaurant Orontes on Albert Cuypstraat, and we enjoyed it so much! From the moment of booking everything went smoothly. Hostess and co-owner Esra received us warmly and even arranged a surprise moment for my mother - a wonderful gesture that made the evening extra special. The food was, as always, delicious! Orontes remains true to its identity: authentic Mediterranean food of high quality, without trendy fuss, but with pure craftsmanship in both the service and the kitchen. The charcoal grill provides those characteristic, tasty dishes and the fresh ingredients from Antakya complete it. The atmosphere, the hospitality and of course the great food make Orontes a place we like to return to again and again. Esra and team, thanks again! We are already looking forward to the next time! Orontes offers real Kurdish food in a quiet, almost homely atmosphere.

The food is good there, nice and quiet place, good service, nice staff, relaxed atmosphere where you can eat quietly.

We have eaten at some of the finest fine restaurants in Amsterdam this week, but our meal at Orontes was the best meal of our trip. Wonderful service and atmosphere. The cold and hot appetizers were delicious and perfectly portioned. The sea bass and lamb skewers were flavourful and nicely plated. Incredibly healthy, clean, well-prepared and authentic food. Would love to come back.

Nice place! We ate a vegetarian mix mezze for 2 people here. The Kunefe (dessert from the south of Turkey) was really delicious!

Authentic taste of the Adana kebab and fish. Unfortunately the portions were quite small for the price you pay. The atmosphere was nice and cosy. Service was good, although it would’ve been nice to have been asked for tea or coffee after the meal.

Every time I come I am pleasantly surprised by the varied and delicious food, and the service who know how to welcome someone in a warm way. A place to cherish!

Overall good, however especially for Turkish guests, the variety of the meze is quite limited. Kebabs are over average, but warm appetizers are delicious. Employees and the owner(or the manager) are so kind and helpful. Moreover, they serve tea as well. This is quite a positive addition when compared to the other places in the Netherlands. If you haven't tried here, I suggest you at least try once.

Very good turkish food for reasonable prices! The restaurant itself is very pretty with relaxed vibes. Would highly recommend the Beyti Kebab, it was perfect.

As a Turkish person, I can easily say that I’ve had a lot of good Turkish food in my life and their dishes were insanely good compared to most I’ve had before. Their beyti was really rich and tasty. The künefe was the perfect ending to the really nice meal we had. I’ve brought 3 foreign friends and they really enjoyed all the dishes.

They have wonderfully varied snacks for everyone... whether you want fish, meat or vegetarian... everything is there! Beautiful Tusk wines! And super friendly, nice service! I am taking several friends there to taste it and I would love to come back!

We arranged this place for dinner on Saturday evening. The employees at the place were so rude. They were very rude when ordering all evening. When we wanted to order dessert, they refused saying they couldn't make that dessert at this hour. It was 22.30 and we wanted to order kunefe. They didn't inform us about this in advance. The food was good but if you want to have a very tense meal, go there.

A very atmospheric restaurant in de Pijp. Food was very tasty with many different choices. The main courses are well served and very delicious with nice sides(salad,bread etc). Worth the prices. One thing we did not like was the dessert. We chose baklava but it wasn’t fresh and the portion was too small. Overall great experience! Will definitely visit again! :)

From start to finish, every dish exceeded our expectations. Well presented and delicious! Recommend the babaganoush, spinach borek, and stuffed mushroom appetizers. The flavorfully seasoned adana lamb kebob was accompanied by fresh veggies, bulger, and freshly baked flat bread. We shared the warm angel hair noodle dessert, which was baked with cheese, and was topped with vanilla ice cream and ground pistachios...amazing! Attentive, friendly service and an inviting, warm atmosphere with stylish decor and soft indirect lighting. The owner/manager is present and on top of all the details here! AAA!

Delicious Beyti Kebab and Baba Ghanoush!

The service is a little slow but friendly. Appetizers were great. I really liked the stuffed meatballs and hummus. His couplet was pretty good. We will definitely come again. My only criticism is that it does not say how many pieces a portion is in the appetizer menu. For example, two pieces of stuffed meatballs, three pieces of mushroom, two pieces of borek... You learn these by asking them one by one. Even if it is written on the menu, the buyer orders accordingly.

Amazing meal at Orontes. We started with the octopus and mussels for appetizers and our group ordered the lamb chops, sea bass, chargrilled chicken entrees. Food came out quickly and was absolutely full in flavor and delicious. Highly recommend!

Orontes offers authentic and delicious Mediterranean food, but the portions are disappointingly small. For the price, I expected more generous servings. The service was another letdown. Throughout the meal, the only question I was asked was if I had finished my food so they could clear the plates. There was no effort to check on our experience or make us feel welcome. Overall, despite the great food, the small portions and poor service made for a disappointing dining experience.

The food was really giving a turkye vibe, but i found it a little pricy, 2 adana kenabs 22 euros. Nice service nice atmosphere, bulgur pilav had no taste.

A very nice Turkish restaurant with a great menu having authentic food. Oruk and Sac kavurma are worth trying. Friendly, polite staff, and quick service. Some tables are very close to each other inside but during summertime sitting at their terrace is wonderful. Better have reservations maybe a week prior to visit cos' this place fills up pretty quickly.

One of the few places in Amsterdam where you can eat, drink and sit without being over-hyped. Super sweet people. The mixed starters are really perfect to share with your friends. And the lamb main courses are also really tasty. I love coming here with my friends

The food and the atmosphere are not bad, but they are not the best either. It will be a better experience, especially if the uncle serving with white hair pays attention to his speech. During my last two visits, while we were ordering in an extremely polite and friendly manner, he responded to us with interesting attitudes. For example: he offered us a main course, and when we said we should skip it for now since we couldn't decide yet, he responded with extremely rude words such as if you don't want it, don't buy it. I must underline that, on my last two visits, he spoiled us and our friends as soon as we sat down. I've been going to fireplaces in Amsterdam for years and have never had an experience like this. As long as there are people like this rude and satisfied shopkeeper uncle, I won't give a penny. My suggestion is that you find another fireside chef.

The food was delicious! Meat was perfectly cooked making it soft and juicy. The staff is super friendly and kind. They were even so kind to serve our little hungry son's food earlier. The portions were also perfect and big (some other reviews wrote the portions were small, but it is not the case). We came for dinner and we will sure come again!

I have been coming to Orontes for years. The food has been consistent over the years in terms of delicious flavors and quality. A while ago I became vegan, and here they lovingly adapt the mezzes so that I can eat many dishes. I now eat there just as tasty and versatile. The service is always very friendly and super fast. You can drink delicious wines there, and you can sit on the terrace in the summer and cozy inside in the winter. What does a man want more?

I have been coming to Orontes almost all my life and will continue to come my whole life! I have never eaten anything there that I didn't like :). You notice that it is a family restaurant because of the homely, warm feeling. No fuss, just delicious food (and it's best to share everything).

Came here to break my fast during Ramadan with my friend & it was not what we expected/hoped for: - The taste of the food was overall good, although the meat was not cooked well enough. - Staff is not very proactive. I did not get the menu card until I asked for it, neither was I asked if I wanted anything to drink. - My table was not ideal at all, hence I asked one of the staff members if I can sit on any other table. She said she will let me know as soon as something comes available, and she never came back to me, eventhough I saw tables becoming available. - The amount of food that we got, compared to what we paid, is extremely off. I’ve never seen such small feta cheese sticks, such little breads, nor such small portions of rice. This was definitely not worth the high price of the dishes. With all my respect, I will not back here again. Mostly because of the food portion/price ratio.

I'm a sucker for family owned restaurants. The food was great, the service was kind, and the atmosphere cosy. They have a good mix of food. Everything is tasty. You can opt for just eating the night away via their starters or go for a good mix of starters and mains that get spread across the table. Been there a couple of times and haven't been disappointed!

The authenticity is the key point. Quality of food and attention to the clients, explaining the food roots. A beautiful family runs this restaurant with love. We enjoyed every plates, specially the starters, main course where all super appreciated. But the liquor at the end together with the desert where simply amazing. I loved the tea served in the tulips shaped glasses, remembering that such flower comes from some region on the Orontes (river) shore. We had been glad to be assisted by the kind daughter and the father that run the restaurant. Thank you, we will come back for sure.

The food quality was good. The lamb skewers and pieces were soft and tasty. The grilled chicken was a bit dry. The baba ghanous was made with eggplant pieces, going well with the bread but would be too salty by its own. The staff was friendly and accommodating when we wanted to change our reservation to an earlier hour.

I especially liked the meat dishes, they were cooked well. Their appetizers are average, but considering the quality, they are expensive. Beylerbeyi 70 packs 85€. It's nice that they bring tap water with you. Customers are good quality. It is not a place for kiro like other Turkish restaurants with alcohol. Since there is not much distance between the tables, there can be a lot of noise. Although there are not many service personnel, the service is quite good. It caught my eye that foreigners prefer fish. I want to try it next time.

For the amount you pay you get ridiculously little food. The meat was tasty, but for a mix grill of €27.50 you get exactly 200 grams of meat. Four of us went and no one was satisfied. The service was disorganized and the atmosphere was simple, cramped and noisy. The last time for us.

It was a restaurant I wanted to try for a long time, so we stopped by for dinner with my friends. The food was nothing fancy or beautiful. But, unfortunately, I ate one of the worst kunefe I have eaten in a long time in this Hatay restaurant. The worst part is, beyond the badness of kunefe, I saw kunefe served with chocolate ice cream for the first time in my life.

Okay food, not the best. The lamb sis was too chewy. It’s supposed to be super soft. Adana was a bit dry. Chicken was good. I don’t get why the side dishes were served in a common plate rather than having them in our own plate. The desert kadayif was not the best as it’s not supposed to be served with cacao ice cream. Service was fast and okay. Overall okay but not a recommender.

Every time I'm here my taste buds are having a party. Mediterranean food at its best. They are often simple but very tasty dishes. A bit pricey, but quality costs money. I've been coming here for years and I will continue to do so, wonderful.
