There were 19 of us and we had a DELICIOUS meal. The service was excellent, very friendly and welcoming. Everyone got their food at the same time, which was delicious!

A very apt verse is recommended.

Outstanding. We happened on this gem while wandering the Museum District of Amsterdam. This was our first time trying Turkish food and our meal was terrific. We shared their cold octopus salad as our starter, then had the grilled branzino and grilled lamb filet on skewers as our mains. Our dessert of kunefe was fantastic and we would have that again anytime. Moreover, it was clear Orontes De Pijp is very much a hit with local residents, especially young families with toddlers. The families and kids appeared quite familiar to the servers and vice-versa. Very delightful to experience and this ambience added to a memorable meal.

Great night. Had the meze for three and all dishes were great and complemented each other well. Friendly people working there. Would definitely go back.

This restaurant is as authentic as it comes. It came recommended by a local resident. The food tasted very good. I like the fact that all the dishes (grilled fish, hummus, lamb chops, grilled ground meat) were not overly seasoned. They were fresh as well. They had homemade baklava which had the crunchy and airy texture, and not too sweet.

Very good mediterranean food. We had selection of appetizers and some mains. Everything well prepared and seasoned.

I’ve been eating at Orontes for years, and it has never disappointed me. Always a real treat! I usually start with a few appetizers: the babaganoush, mussels, and ispanak are my favorites. For the main course, I almost always go for the sea bream, and for meat dishes, the lamb chops or beyti are delicious. I’m getting hungry just writing about it...The atmosphere is great too, nothing pretentious, just authentic.

Their meze plates to share are really tasty. Main dishes are big in portion. The staff is very friendly :)

if the lamb would've been less chewy it would have been a perfect meal. very well seasoned, not too over the top either. the bread with tomato is amazing, so is the bulgur.

Waited about 10 minutes for someone to come over. In the end, I had to ask myself for someone to come. After that, I no longer wanted to stay at the place. Zero service.

Had dinner here with colleagues. The food was fine but nothing really stood out — flavors were okay but not memorable. Prices lean toward the moderate–high side for what you get. Staff was fast and attentive.

We had a large group of eight, so choosing dishes was a bit slow. That wasn't a problem; the restaurant selected a few dishes and replenished them as needed. The food was delicious, highly recommended.

Food wasn't tasty. The portions were small. Also quite expensive for what you get. Service and ambience were ok. ! The pictures here in the reviews do not correspond to our experience at all. In the reviews the portions are a lot larger than ours.

Warm bread with tapenade on the house. A carafe of water was provided. A large, tasty dish. Fast and friendly service. A delicious meal.

Smiling faces, fast service, friendly approach. The only downside is the oil they use. Sunflower oil is not suitable for appetizers. A good olive oil would increase the cost a bit, but the quality would be second to none. Please take this into consideration.

The place is spotlessly clean. I highly recommend their baklava. You won't find anything as delicious in Amsterdam. And the imam loved it. :) See you again...

Went there with big group! The arrangement was quite easy and the people were informative about their dishes. I would say that the actual dishes were bigger than we saw in picture. We were quite full by the end of the dinner. There few astounding dishes that i can recommend you: Voorgerecht that are awesome were Yogurt with Spinach and the cheesey mushroom. Main dishes that i took was Beygci, was great! I recommend take the mixed grill tho. Was great. Atmosphere was gezellig. Service quiet on time also. Price indeed was on higher side but still quite worth it. Oh, dont get the salmon. Portion was too small compared to the rest. And please please get the KUNEFEH! It was our highlight

small local place with friendly people and delicious food

We went there for celebration and we asked for non-alcohol (0%) beer. We kindly reminded few times. Of course they bringing in the glass not with bottle. But after we realised taste is different and asked them about, they first said that our beers were alcohol free. We insisted about the taste and smell, they checked and apparently it was NOT alcohol free ! It was regular high percentage alcohol beer ! Thanks to them, our anniversary dinner turned out to end of my husband’s sobriety. We saw servers and owner that evening. They were super comfortable about the mistake they made. We couldn’t even hear sorry from them after we explained my husband is not using any alcohol and our order HAS TO BE 0% ALCOHOL !!! We went there first and last time. Also food wasn’t good or we lost our appetite I am not sure. I don’t recommend this place- this location!

A Turkish restaurant offering excellent mezze to share. The meats and sauces, especially hummus and tzatziki, blend harmoniously. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant!

You absolutely won't regret your choice if you're looking for authentic Turkish and Mediterranean cuisine. The Adana kebab and the Beyti were excellent! The bulgur and desserts too. The service was very good; the waitress took the time to describe the ingredients in the Salgam. Thank you to her. Well located, 5 minutes from a metro station. The prices reflect the quality of the dishes and are average (drinks + main course + desserts). The wait time is reasonable and logical, given the dishes take a long time to prepare. The restaurant attracts people of all languages; it's very intercultural! You can find all kinds of drinks, from çay to Turkish coffee, just like you're in Istanbul!

Fantastic food! Also a real paradise for vegetarians. The waitress was the daughter of the owner and very friendly. It was very warm inside so maybe they can invest in a fan or air conditioning.

We loved the meal! We ordered the chef's selection of appetizers and a Turkish wine. Everything was delicious! The atmosphere is simple and rustic, giving it a very authentic feel. It's definitely worth it!

Everything was very delicious overall. We actually enjoyed the main courses much more than the mezes we absolutely loved them! I’ve been walking past this place every day for the past three years, and today was the first time I got to try it. The fact that the music was Turkish made me really happy. We arrived a bit early, so it was quiet at first, but later it got crowded and a bit noisy inside. The staff were friendly, and the place was clean and nicely decorated. Thank you we’ll be visiting often! The only thing that disappointed me was that there was no tea. Also, they said the wait time for the künefe would be 20–25 minutes, which felt quite long. But as I said, overall, it was a successful and tasty experience.

May 2025 update to the below comment: I do not like the food here anymore. İçli köfte was quite bad and the service overall was not good enough. —- Delicious Turkish food and cozy place. Make sure to try wines with mezes and adana kebab (yes all together).

The main course (mixed grill) and starters were excellent. We were overfull already by halfway but didn't want to waste the delicious food.

The restaurant is very cosy. Service is great. Owner has a serious look but is very sincere. He and his staff are all friendly and caring. Mussels and shrimps appetizers are great. The grilled Sea bass is amazingly good. Must try. Price performance very good. Some reviews said portions are small but I think there are misunderstanding that those dishes are small appetizers, just like tapas, and by nature, portions are not big. Overall a very pleasant dining experience

I came to Orontes with a big group of friends and we had the best time here. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. We got a mix of vegetarian, meat, and fish dishes. Everyone enjoyed their meals and emptied their plates. We felt like home here and really enjoyed our conversations with the staff. Thank you to the Orontes team for ensuring we enjoy to the fullest and making this experience so pleasant. It is not always so easy to book for a large group, really appreciate the ease with this reservation.

Had a great meal at Orontes de Pijp! The flavors of the Mediterranean kitchen really come into their own here. The grilled dishes were perfectly prepared and the mezes were delicious. In addition, the atmosphere was warm and cozy, and the service friendly and attentive. An absolute must, I will definitely come back!

Fantastic evening (13-02-2025) at Orontes! We recently celebrated my mother's birthday with 14 family members at Restaurant Orontes on Albert Cuypstraat, and we enjoyed it so much! From the moment of booking everything went smoothly. Hostess and co-owner Esra received us warmly and even arranged a surprise moment for my mother - a wonderful gesture that made the evening extra special. The food was, as always, delicious! Orontes remains true to its identity: authentic Mediterranean food of high quality, without trendy fuss, but with pure craftsmanship in both the service and the kitchen. The charcoal grill provides those characteristic, tasty dishes and the fresh ingredients from Antakya complete it. The atmosphere, the hospitality and of course the great food make Orontes a place we like to return to again and again. Esra and team, thanks again! We are already looking forward to the next time! We have eaten at some of the finest fine restaurants in Amsterdam this week, but our meal at Orontes was the best meal of our trip. Wonderful service and atmosphere. The cold and hot appetizers were delicious and perfectly portioned. The sea bass and lamb skewers were flavourful and nicely plated. Incredibly healthy, clean, well-prepared and authentic food. Would love to come back.

Nice place! We ate a vegetarian mix mezze for 2 people here. The Kunefe (dessert from the south of Turkey) was really delicious!

Authentic taste of the Adana kebab and fish. Unfortunately the portions were quite small for the price you pay. The atmosphere was nice and cosy. Service was good, although it would’ve been nice to have been asked for tea or coffee after the meal.

Overall good, however especially for Turkish guests, the variety of the meze is quite limited. Kebabs are over average, but warm appetizers are delicious. Employees and the owner(or the manager) are so kind and helpful. Moreover, they serve tea as well. This is quite a positive addition when compared to the other places in the Netherlands. If you haven't tried here, I suggest you at least try once.

As a Turkish person, I can easily say that I’ve had a lot of good Turkish food in my life and their dishes were insanely good compared to most I’ve had before. Their beyti was really rich and tasty. The künefe was the perfect ending to the really nice meal we had. I’ve brought 3 foreign friends and they really enjoyed all the dishes.

They have wonderfully varied snacks for everyone... whether you want fish, meat or vegetarian... everything is there! Beautiful Tusk wines! And super friendly, nice service! I am taking several friends there to taste it and I would love to come back!

We arranged this place for dinner on Saturday evening. The employees at the place were so rude. They were very rude when ordering all evening. When we wanted to order dessert, they refused saying they couldn't make that dessert at this hour. It was 22.30 and we wanted to order kunefe. They didn't inform us about this in advance. The food was good but if you want to have a very tense meal, go there.

A very atmospheric restaurant in de Pijp. Food was very tasty with many different choices. The main courses are well served and very delicious with nice sides(salad,bread etc). Worth the prices. One thing we did not like was the dessert. We chose baklava but it wasn’t fresh and the portion was too small. Overall great experience! Will definitely visit again! :)

From start to finish, every dish exceeded our expectations. Well presented and delicious! Recommend the babaganoush, spinach borek, and stuffed mushroom appetizers. The flavorfully seasoned adana lamb kebob was accompanied by fresh veggies, bulger, and freshly baked flat bread. We shared the warm angel hair noodle dessert, which was baked with cheese, and was topped with vanilla ice cream and ground pistachios...amazing! Attentive, friendly service and an inviting, warm atmosphere with stylish decor and soft indirect lighting. The owner/manager is present and on top of all the details here! AAA!
