The plan was to book for Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 6:30 PM, but due to various circumstances, it wasn't possible. It was bizarre! PS: with 7 guests.

The restaurant is quite good but it doesn't have air conditioning so eating inside is not recommended during the summer (we were dying of heat!!!)

A really cozy place with friendly people and a nice terrace. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing: the pizza was very thinly topped, and the meat of the day was tough, sinewy, and bland. A real shame.

Apparently, dogs are allowed in the restaurant. I was occasionally on a leash, but it was four meters long and therefore of little use. Servers asked if I could pass them the plates.

Just had another delicious meal. The staff is very attentive. The menu is small, but everything on it tastes delicious. And I really love the little shop!

The pizzas are very tasty but it is better to reserve otherwise you have to eat at a small table at the bar

The food isn't bad, but for these prices, I expect better quality. The daily menu was rib-eye; I wasn't asked how I wanted it, and I got it medium rare. The meat was lukewarm inside. One of my guests received the wrong dish and it took quite a while before he got the right one. In short, it was reasonably priced, but the quality was average.

During my daughter's three years of studying in Rotterdam, Osteria Vicini was almost a point of reference, located right on the same street as her house, in the beautiful residential neighborhood of Kralingen. The outdoor area is truly delightful: a space with tables that, on sunny days, even in the dead of winter, invites you to stop for a moment of relaxation. Sitting there with a blanket over your lap, an Aperol Spritz in hand, and the sun warming your face is an experience worth the stop alone: a corner that exudes a warm and convivial atmosphere, perfect for the tranquility of the neighborhood. We tried several dishes, choosing mostly the less "typically Italian" ones (because, obviously, it can't compare to our cuisine), but the quality was always good and the dishes well prepared. The chicken salad is delicious! The interior is spacious and airy, but never noisy. The staff, although different each time, has always been very courteous and professional. A place I recommend for a relaxing break and to enjoy the neighborhood life, especially on nice days!

Delicious food, nice atmosphere. Inside the service was good, but because of the time slot we had to move. Outside the service was downright bad. As if we no longer existed. We walked inside twice to get a waitress. By the way, I also think those time slots do not contribute to a hospitable feeling. Because of that you are on a kicking chair. Probably unfortunately discovered during COVID. 😏

extremely good pizza, would love to try it again, unfortunately i dont remember being provided with an english menu just an italian one which proved to be quite the challenge for me to use, cause of my not extremely proficient italian language knowledge

We stopped for lunch yesterday. We ordered 3 panini sanwiches - tuna and grilled chicken, and a pizza. Service was great and the food was excellent. Very nice restaurant.

I can really understand that it is not nice to have to work in 30 degrees, but the arrogance with which we were served is really below all standards. The girl who took the order was literally sighing because my father (with Parkinson's) could not make his choice quickly enough. Then she pulled the card away, and when asked if the toilet was downstairs, she did not look up or around and gave an angry "yes". Never felt so unwanted in a restaurant where you come as a paying guest. We were really amazed by this behavior, especially for such a young girl. Unfortunately, never again for us.

A hidden gem in a picturesque part of Rotterdam – an evening to remember After months of curious anticipation and a warm recommendation from a friend, the time had finally come last night: a visit to this charming restaurant in one of the most atmospheric corners of Rotterdam. And what a discovery it was! Under a sultry summer evening breeze we settled down on the cozy terrace. The ambiance was calm and relaxed – perfect for catching up and enjoying a casual evening. The service was friendly, the atmosphere intimate, and the crowd pleasantly quiet. We started the evening with a refreshing Peligrano Rosso lemonade, followed by a delicious chicken salad from the oven. The salad was generously filled and surprisingly tasty – a nice balance of heartiness and freshness. My friend opted for a salmon pizza with a generous amount of salmon, which she visibly enjoyed. To finish, a panna cotta with basil and strawberries was served – a special, fresh combination that perfectly matched the summery setting. Combined with a creamy cappuccino, this was the ideal ending to the evening. A small side note: smoking on the terrace can be a bit annoying for non-smokers. But apart from that, this restaurant is a really nice addition to the city. The price-quality ratio is exceptionally good – something you don’t often find in Rotterdam. And that makes this place more than worth it. In short: a warm recommendation for anyone looking for a relaxing evening out with good food, a nice atmosphere and a touch of surprising flavours. This could easily become one of my new favourite places in Rotterdam.

I visited twice, for coffee and drinks. The coffee was good and the cocktails were well made. However, the menu was quite limited with few options. I didn’t try the food, but the atmosphere inside was excellent — truly beautiful design and a warm, inviting vibe.

We had a great evening. My little nephew was allowed to watch in the kitchen how pizzas were made, he really enjoyed this. The chef was very nice to him. Our waitress, Noa, was really great!! A nice, spontaneous girl who knows what hard work is. Dear Noa, thank you for this great evening! 🫶🏼

Really 5 out of 5 for this place. The staff are neat, accommodating when you dont understand Dutch and they are friendly! The food... well... there arent words. AMAZING. The flavour is there... and every mouthful is a treat! Really really good italian food. The restaurant is beautiful, the devor and lighting provides an atmosphere both relaxing and social. Wether u want to kuier with friends or work. Osteria Vicini is the place to be. Great coffee too!

The food was average and far from authentic Italian. We ate Italian dishes adapted to Dutch "tastes". The highlight was the linguine with shrimp, which was enjoyable. However, the spaghetti with meatballs and the octopus were basic and the tomato sauce lacked taste. The service was bad, the waitresses looked bored. The atmosphere and overall vibe were great.

Good place for having a drink in the sun, not much for the food quality.

When making a reservation, you are asked if you want to come at 6 or 8 pm. At 6 pm we were at the table and at 7 pm they say that our table is reserved for 7:30 pm. Very strange.

A little popular Italian restaurant in Kralingen near many student houses , with a nice outdoorterrace and a cosy interior inside , and a menu with a variation of Italian popular dishes . Is it up the level of any local Italian deli in Italy in city’s like Milan , Napoli , Rome or any other city ? No , it’s a adjusted to Dutch taste . If u want to grab a quick bite without any hassle for a reasonable price , this is the place for you . If you are used to real traditional classic Italian taste , then there are better options in Kralingen to visit at the oostzeedijk .

Good menu and stylish place. The food was tasty, but took a long time tonight before it was on the table. The service is friendly. Tip to serve multiple tables in a row (instead of 1 table and then stay away from your neighborhood for a long time). Then I will give more stars next time. 👍🏻

Bruschietta was rock hard but well topped and we had eaten it all. Arancini and polpetten were fine. Pizza montana is a nice surprise, definitely worth trying

Really delicious and super sweet service. Our wish for a specific table was no problem. The ravioli with asparagus and salmon is highly recommended. Actually everything was delicious!

Kind service and very nice location but cannot give more stars for the food. We had meatballs which were tasty but not enough tomato sauce and pizza nothing special. We will try to give a second go for pasta dishes

Best Italian restaurant in Rotterdam

We were not seen by the staff. Every time you speak to someone, they come much later to ask what you wanted. Finally I placed my order at the bar. Desserts were not yet thrown on the table. No napkin. Shame.

The restaurant is very nice and spacious and the food is good, but our order took a long time. We saw tables near ours that arrived after we had eaten and paid the bill while we were waiting. Other than that, it is a good restaurant, but a little expensive.

Expensive and bad. Children's ice cream that consisted of 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream costs 7 euros. Pizza with spinach and ricotta was tasteless. 1 piece of cookie cake is 1/3 of the normal size. Staff ignores criticism and asks casually 5 minutes later if everything was to your liking.

Do you know the term SHRINKFLATION? Where restaurants increase prices by bizarre percentages but at the same time reduce portions? Welcome to the king of Shrinkflation: Osteria Vicini. An Aperol Spritz? Almost 10 euros for a glass that is almost a quarter smaller than 3 years ago. Spaghetti with meatballs? Nowadays 20 euros instead of 14 euros 3 years ago with smaller balls than ever before? But the worst part was the dessert. That almost made us laugh out loud. A 'point' of a chocolate truffle cake that you can't even call a point. At least 30% smaller than a few years ago. Yes, costs are rising. But this case takes advantage of it in a bizarre way.

There is nothing to criticize about the staff. Nice cozy place, wine also okay. But my pizza was downright bad. The average frozen pizzas from ah have more flavor. Missed opportunity for his great business.

Somewhat indifferent food, not bad but also not especially interesting or flavoursome, the fried servings tasted as if the oil had been too cold. Some small errors in the service, long pause between starter and main course, had to ask twice for more wine.

Only drank coffee. Super nice service. Had to wait a little longer for the squid rings for my girlfriend and got a free drink.

If you're expecting authentic Italian cuisine, this place doesn't deliver. While it may be considered a regular restaurant, it's definitely not the spot for true Italian food. The pizza dough was bland and lacked flavor, and though the cheese was decent, the spaghetti seemed like packaged pasta instead of fresh. The sauce and meat were passable, but nothing special. They attempted a modern twist on tiramisu, but it didn’t quite hit the mark. The only highlight was the cappuccino, which I really enjoyed. On a positive note, the ambiance inside was pleasant. However, we were told there would be a half-hour wait at the bar, which was fine, but it was disappointing when we were then seated at a bar table instead of a regular table, requiring us to wait even longer.

At Osteria Vicini in Rotterdam you will be welcomed by a warm atmosphere and delicious Italian food. The restaurant offers a mix of traditional and modern dishes. The **suppli ai piselli** and **fritto di calamari** are tasty and perfect to start with. The pizzas are thin, soft and richly topped, such as the pizza with fennel, which is highly recommended. The cozy living room under the restaurant is ideal for meetings. A scoop of ice cream and a cappuccino complete the experience. Osteria Vicini is a place you will definitely want to come back to.

I was passing by the restaurant almost every day, and is busy most of the time, so I decided to give it a try. They have classic Italian food, and a small market type of store when you enter, where you can buy various Italian goods, like limoncelo etc. The atmosphere was cozy and warm. Service was attentive and fast with all the requests. And food was amazing, tasted fresh and delicious, without being overwhelming. I tried the carpaccio, bruscetta, burrata pesto and the polpette di vitello ( meatballs in tomato sauce). Dishes came fast, even though it was busy at the moment, and the food was very well prepared and tasty. Also I was told that their pizza and pasta dishes are also very nice. If you like good, classic Italian food, and value a good service, I would highly recommend the place!

Just WOW. ABSOLUTELY amazing and delicious place and market place with truly Italian cuisine. Menu is not too complicated and everything is served fresh and hot. Must visit and revisit. And after the meal go to their local market with Italian touch- we got amazing pistachio panettone!

Two years ago was my first experience here. Yesterday I decided to give it a second chance...terrible idea. First of all, they should clearly mention that you can only sit inside for max 2 hours only if you arrive at 17:30 or at 19:30. For our bad luck, we made the reservation at 18:30, so we had to rush in ordering and eating because we only had 1 hour before the waiter came to say that we had to leave, even when our deserts were already ordered. Second, the food has not much to do with the Italian idea of keeping it simple, so besides the name, there's not much of italian there. We order several different anti pasti, only the calamari were good, the rest of the plates, including pastas and pizza, were overworked in the presentation but not much in taste. Linguine gamberetti didn't taste at all, like anything, same with the risotto gamberetto, we added salt and pepper so it would taste like something. The pizza dough was alright but they all had a very strong garlic smell and flavor, even when the menu didn't mentioned it had garlic. So overall, not very nice relationship between price and quality.

Fantastic flavors, good service, very friendly, delicious coffee and ice cream. It's a bit of a drive for us, but it was 200% worth it. The plates looked like paintings.

Zeer teleurstellend na een positieve ervaring in december 23. Wat een feestelijke lunch met te delen gerechten voor 14 mensen moest zijn, begon met een uur wachten op de voorgerechten die al klaar hadden kunnen staan, want drie van de vier waren koud. Vervolgens 4 pizza’s en twee halve kommen pasta gedeeld met 14 personen. Borden direct leeg, maar niets werd aangevuld. Tot slot twee kommen tiramisu, ook direct leeg. Zo karig was ik het bij Vicini niet gewend en dat gaan we met een rekening van 700 euro (incl. wijn) ook nooit meer zo doen.

Nice place in the heart of Kralingen. An old building completely converted into an attractive Italian restaurant. There is no shortage of beautiful decorations. It was a bit of a shock when I opened the menu. The spaghetti with veal meatballs was always a nice comfort food dish for a decent price. I looked back and 4-5 years ago it was €13.50. They now charge €20 (!!!) euros for this. Rising, yes of course, but this is abuse. The meatballs with tomato sauce cost 9 euros. Throwing 11 euros on top for a little pasta and at most 2 extra balls is retarded and they know that very well. The always special dishes outside the menu are very worthwhile and you often get a much nicer and refined pasta for 2 euros more. Still expensive, but makes more sense. The pizza is sometimes very subject to who is in the kitchen, it sometimes seems. Sometimes a lot of crust and little topping, other times the other way around. Ingredients are always of high quality. Pastries from Koekela are very tasty and the coffee is also very good. When we asked on the outdoor terrace if we could have coffee in a to-go cup because we preferred to drink that because we might have to leave a little earlier, we were told that they only serve coffee in cups on the terrace and not in the to-go cup. So that's making it difficult for the sake of making it difficult.

Het is een leuke zaak. Er loopt veel personeel in de zaak. Er wordt wel eens een foutje gemaakt met de bestelling maar dat wordt met charme snel opgelost. Het eten is erg smakelijk. Geen haut cuisine en perfect opgemaakte gerechten maar heerlijke rustieke smaken zoals je mag verwachten bij een osteria.
