Otemba never disappoints! It’s my favorite ramen in town and feels like traveling to Asia. The venue is cozy and stylish, with friendly and helpful staff! Ricardo is the best waitress ever! I can’t recommend this place more. 10/10!

The best ramen in Amsterdam! I absolutely loved the food and the whole experience. My favorite was the Tonkotsu ramen (with shiitake) — incredibly rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. For starters, the Kyoto gyozas and the takoyaki were amazing as well. I also received the best service I’ve had in Amsterdam, thanks to Ricard. He was genuinely kind, attentive, and made the entire visit even better. It’s rare to find such authentic and thoughtful service nowadays, so it truly stood out. Highly recommended — I’ll definitely be coming back! Thank you to Ricard and Chef Josu! 🙏🏼

The miso ramen with glazed tofu was so good, it felt like eating chicken, but I tend to like those with a bit more broth than dry ones. The tantan with chicken was also good but a bit too spicy, we should have asked the spicy sauce on the side. The eggs were also perfectly cooked and the duck gyozas pretty nice also.

The price-quality ratio is excellent! The service is spot on! I recommend it to everyone!

Very, very average 'ramen'. The same as the very average gyoza place in the Otemba in the Pijp. The food is ooookay, but if you're looking for a hit of authentic Japanese ramen or gyoza - do NOT go here. As an example: we ordered the 'spicy chili oil' as an extra, and it turned out to be a Surinam-style madam de Jeanette sambal. Perfectly delicious, but very very misplaced in it's sour, very particular and tangy deliciousness on a ramen, in my opinion. Suited to many things, also ik Fusion cuisine, but something that really does not work on ramen. Also misleading, as a sambal is in Nederland way a chili oil. Much more akin to a hot sauce, as that also has a fermented and thus sour and salty base. In no way a chili oil, in either case. And this example exemplifies everything we ate at this place. So, mehhhhhh.

Surely one of the best ramen in Amsterdam. After visiting Japan it took some time finding a ramen restaurant in Amsterdam that could match the level. The service and pricing is also great, we highly recommend it!

The best place to eat ramen in Amsterdam! The Tonkotsu was my favorite and it’s not expensive at all!! The pork belly was amazing. We will be coming back soon for sure. The staff there it’s amazing as well, especially Alba and Ricard. It’s a must try if you are in Amsterdam!

I came in ~16:20 on a Sunday. There was plenty of space available. I was immediately seated at the bar and given a menu. Then, things got weird. Nobody came to take my order for ~15 minutes, even though it was really calm inside. Finally someone came by to take my order, and then I waited ~25 minutes, during which the people next to me were told their gyoza would not arrive as the restaurant had made a mistake in the kitchen order. Those folks left immediately. My food thankfully did arrive a bit later: The monthly special, veggie paitan, which was unexpectedly spicy. I expected a little kimchi on the side like in the image, but the broth was drowned in chili oil. Which sadly removed most of the taste, but if you like spicy food you’ll like this place! There’s spicy logos on the main menu choices, but not on the special menu, so watch out for that! Afterwards I wanted to try out the applie pie gyoza, as that sound insane and incredible! Though the staff loved talking amongst themselves in Italian, and not even direct eye contact made them come over, so it again took a bit of time to order. I had to eventually stop someone who thankfully happened to walk by. Sadly the apple pie gyoza were just ok. It’s definitely not like anything I’ve ever eaten, which is neat, but the apple tasted very artificial which was a shame. When I wanted to pay there was thankfully someone with me very quickly. All in all the vibe inside is neat (except for a very strange seemingly AI generated cat image), the food is ok, and the service is kinda all over the place.

A google review states they do gluten free so I made the trip there- they cannot cater to gluten free so would be helpful if that review could be taken down.

To start off, the food is consistently amazing, and they do flavour combinations that are unheard-of (langoustine and Old Amsterdam cheese!). If you are hungry, definitely come here. That said, this is for the owners: please just do a normal happy hour like everywhere else and forget about the membership stuff. Today I had a pretty crappy day at work cleaning up someone else's mess, and havent been able to have lunch until around 16.15. I was starving, and it was freezing outside and pouring rain, so ramen would be the perfect choice. When I got the menu, I was asked if I was a member. No? Would I like to become one? Here's a card. Thinking it was just a stamp-card situation, I said sure, why not. Turns out it was not that simple. The card is actually a QR code where you have to scan and then enter your name, email and birthday. The birthday interface was the best bit, because you have to manually click backwards month-by-month. If you're 1 year old, you'd have to tap 12 times. If you're 10 years old - 120 times. 20-years old = 240 times. Food came, was delicious as always, but I was still tapping and spent half my meal tapping. Gave up somewhere around 2019 and just picked a random date for my birthday. Luckily there's no age limit for ramen - which is the only thing that made sense in this whole membership nonsense. When I went to pay afterwards, they asked me if I had a membership. I told them yes, just signed up. They asked me if they can scan my app. What app? Why? So you can get 4 euros off between 16.00-17.00 every day. I need an app for that? Forget it. I'd rather pay the extra 4 euros to get out of here. Please just do a normal happy hour like everyone else.

We stayed for 3 days and we tried 3 different ramen places. We can tell you this was our favorite. The broth was simply out of this world. One of the best ramens we’ve had, for sure.

The best vegetarian ramen ive ever had -tantanmen (maybe i was expecting more sides), the drinks were on the house as they forgot about our sides and we had to wait a bit more. My friend got classic meat ramen - tonkotsu and said it had more mushroom-y taste than meaty and different than he had expected - even tho he still liked it. Kimchi fries are very interesting, maybe a bit too expensive comparing to 10/10 bombastic ramen??? Gyoza osaka was sooooo tasty 🤤. Overall experience was very pleasant, will come again for ramen ☺️☺️☺️

Best gyoza I ever had. Spicy miso ramen is absolutely delicious and highly recommended. Couple of recommendations: I would suggest guests to be seated on the top floor or the ground floor rather than on -1, it’s pretty dark and gives the the impression as if we are sitting in the storage room; the fried kimchi has more fries rather than kimchi, it tastes really nice but I would expect a lot more kimchi on it, the name suggests a different food; the cucumber salad was unfortunately not so tasty as it was diced into huge pieces and the dressing did not go through; the chicken in ramen was minced and was relatively little, this takes away from the taste and experience. Overall the food was still really good and I would go there again.

We were very hungry, perhaps that contributed to our experience, but upon arrival, we received an unfriendly welcome and had to wait 10 minutes to be seated, despite seeing 10 empty tables. We hoped for the best. Ordering drinks went smoothly, but when we received them, the two different ice teas tasted practically the same. The appetizers arrived, which were fine, except for the takoyaki, which was still raw inside. When ordering ramen, I had indicated that I absolutely don't like spicy food, but that shouldn't have been a problem with the choices I made. The soup turned out to be incredibly spicy. When I pointed this out, they offered a solution, but we just had to eat it. Despite the fact that reservations weren't possible, the table next to us was asked to sit at the bar (while they still had two full glasses of wine) because they wanted to seat new people, which they were certainly not happy about. It was very customer-unfriendly and definitely not something we would return to.

This is instant ramen. They simply diluted the pre-made sauce with water. They didn't make the soup themselves.

Otemba Ramen Restaurant - Amsterdam West A restaurant with friendly staff (speaking English) who regularly come by to take drink orders. Delicious food. Nienke, "the vegetarian ramen lover," was very pleased with her ramen. The gyozas were my favorite. The interior is hip and well-lit. After dinner, we were asked to sit at the bar so other customers could eat at their tables. That wasn't a problem for us. We also had to get to a concert soon, so this restaurant is ideal for that. The tables are quite close together. If you prefer a bit more privacy, I'm not sure this restaurant is suitable. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Not the real thing. Mostly noodles, with little filling. The chicken is ground chicken. Ready-made pasta mixed with water.

We had ramen, and it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were rich, perfectly balanced, and the noodles were cooked just right. You can really tell that a lot of care goes into each bowl. Ricardo was a fantastic waiter, attentive, friendly, and genuinely focused on making sure we had another great experience. He checked in at just the right times and made sure everything was exactly as we wanted it. His service really added to the overall atmosphere and made the meal even more enjoyable. The restaurant itself has a welcoming vibe, with a cozy yet lively feel that makes it perfect for both a casual meal and a special night out. Everything came out quickly, and the presentation was spot-on. I would certainly recommend eating here again, both for the excellent ramen and the outstanding service. We’ll definitely be coming back soon!

The Ramen (I had the Miso with glazed tofu) was outstandingly good, so comforting and tasty. Service was very nice and I liked the style of the interiors. Could have been a bit more heated inside but thus was just my personal feeling :) I will definitely come back and can warmly recommend Otemba!

Had the veggie dumplings with pumpkin, duck gyoza, “salmon” nigiri, spicy miso ramen, and apple pie gyoza, all were so good! Duck dumplings did taste a bit gamey and was upset that the ice cream machine was not working, but overall great vibes, service, and food!

A lovely atmosphere, beautiful decor that stays with you, and you experience the spirit of Japan...super friendly service, delicious ramen and dishes...definitely worth coming back.

Food was ok, the ramen could have had more goodies. The service was not so great, they also refused to give some tap water - even though we had already ordered drinks.

Not bad but I ate many ramen that I liked more. Tantanmen broth was very nice, noodles are average, nice tofu, too sweet egg for my taste. Tonkotsu broth didnt fit my taste, but pork belly was very nice, I loved it! In general I liked it, but not loved. Also, maybe Im picky now but... why use plastic bowls? :( and totally uncomfortable sticks... Switch to ceramic bowls and wooden sticks, it would feel much better.

Not real ramen. But otherwise acceptable food. Would not eat here again.

Honestly I wouldn't waste your time, took us about 10 minutes to be even seated (restaurant wasnt busy) when we got seated took the waitress about 20 minutes to take our drinks order, which was a beer & a glass of water which then took another 15 minutes to arrive! Bearing in mind we were seated outside so it was rather cold, food order was took we order two bowls of ramen & 4 gyozoas to share. The gyozoas came in half an hour, then our food another 40 minutes after that! I would have assumed as we only ordered a small starter (just to taste) they would bring everything out together. When we shared out consern to the waitress she got arsey as we said its as ridiculous the amount of time we had spent waiting nearly over an hour! Her mood quickly changed and make us just uncomfortable, when we asked how long until the two bowls of ramen would be she said 5-10 minutes which turned out to be 25 minutes. Other tables who arrived way after us were all receiving their food first, honestly service was terrible, food took forever to arrive & the ramen were bang average. Definitely not worth €60 two bowls of ramen, 4 gyozoas & a beer!

First time trying this, unfortunately left disappointed. The cucumber salad was very tasty, the kimchi was way too sour. I ordered spicy miso with chicken, which was tasty but the noodles were nowhere to be found, too soft and not chewy at all. The peanut butter (tantan men) was too rich and almost no soup left.

Excellent ramen and gyoza, generous portions at a reasonable price. Friendly service and comfortable seating outside though a little noisy as at a busy intersection.

I loved their ramen. I had Tantanmen and although it wasn't as spicy as I expected, it was still great. I would highly recommend getting the Chicken. Gyoza. It's not your traditional gyoza but still amazing and delicious.

Its getting close to a 3 for me, the broth is a bit too salty and tasted a bit burned/bitter. Noodles and the egg were pretty good. The gyoza Amsterdam were not good, they were flavorless, the langustine didn't come through, you only tasted parmesan and they served it on paper so they became soggy quickly. The chicken was amazing, could have used a bit more flavor and spice on the"spicy" mayo.

Delicious ramen - but wasn’t spicy!

I can’t fault this place. Excellent food not withstanding, the service here was incredible. Really attentive and diligent staff made our dining experience one to remember. The chicken gyoza are a must have. In addition, the ramen transported my bodily senses to a place of euphoria I had not yet felt on this earthly plain.

if you like experiments - always try exclusive ramen. it will be something special. green tea ice cream will not leave you indifferent. by the way, regular tea and its serving will also bring pleasure. in general, all dishes here are delicious (i love gyoza).

It was quite full, and we sat at the bar with Alberto, who was very pleasant. The ramen was very good, as were the gyozas. We really liked the takoyaki, highly recommended. 5 stars too☺️

Sat outside on a rainy day. Server Mathias was super nice & helpful. We had the first ramen on the menu, kimchi fries and the cucumbers. I think the broth was delicious & really enjoyed the cucumbers, they were really good. Overall would come back.

Unfortunately, it was a bad experience. After ordering, we were told there was a problem in the kitchen and that it could take fifteen minutes or a little longer. We waited 45 minutes. On top of that, we were charged extra because we were asked if we wanted a snack while waiting, which you'd expect to be on the house. The table next to us was offered a free dessert. The toilet was also extremely dirty. The food was okay, but no reason to return.

We waited over 40 minutes for two servings of ramen. The waitress asked if we wanted a bite in the meantime because the kitchen was running behind. We thought the bite would be "on the house," but we were still charged for it. The food was mediocre and definitely not worth a 40-minute wait.
