Padjak De Smeltkroes 2.0 in Bijlmer Oost (E,G,K)

Ordered a Nasi-Bami Rames mix for 14.50. But when I got home, it was a mix of bami and nasi with two pieces of chicken. Nothing else. Disappointed again.

Last Friday, October 11, 2025, I thought about eating at Melting Pot. Well, that was a disappointment. Nasi with chicken and bami with chicken were completely flavorless and dry. Then, when you ask for ketchup without pepper, you have to pay for it, only to find out it actually contains pepper. This was a real disappointment. Let's just say it was a waste of money.

The saoto with fried telo (without cod) was truly excellent for a good price. Plenty of space to sit comfortably for a while. Unfortunately, the coffee machine has been broken for a while. The staff could make their own coffee!

The service is terrible; they're incredibly rude. You wait over an hour for your food, and if you point it out, they yell at you. Such a shame.

Melting pot!!!! Yuck! What's going on? Nasi with satay for my daughter, satay can be psa, the rest is sugar rice, just not an authentic sweet taste!!!! And the same goes for the saoto soup. No man, is this foul-smelling dark broth serious?? Where is the scent of lemongrass and salm leaf?? Even an egg won't work, sour!! Step up your game....because this ain't it!

Food was very little and tasteless.

The food was absolutely awful. The noodles and nasi goreng were dry. The satay wasn't good either.

Worst experience ever – avoid this restaurant! I've never had such a bad experience as this one. The staff is downright rude and seems completely clueless about how to interact with customers – unless you happen to be a friend or family member, then you suddenly get attention. As a regular customer, you clearly don't feel welcome. Efficiency is non-existent. Everything takes forever. And if you politely raise an issue, your order is deliberately withheld. Truly unprofessional. It seems like this staff has never had any training in hospitality or service. A serious customer service course would be invaluable. Save yourself the frustration and skip this one.

A normal person would give you 0 stars if they could. You deserve 5 stars, though, since I know that dissatisfied people almost always give negative reviews, and satisfied people rarely give a positive review. But if you make people wait an hour for takeout, right outside the door, then make it worth it. I've lived in the neighborhood for 21 years, so I've known you for years. The bakabana is always good. Today's peanut sauce ruined it. But the roti is awful. This is the worst roti I've had in the Netherlands in years. The color of the curry looks awful. Potatoes shouldn't turn this brown/black. The roti is hard. The curry sauce is way too watery. I like things quickly, but this was bad. Even my 8-year-old son, with whom I just waited an hour, says the roti isn't good and is hard. The curry is also very mediocre. I'll spare everyone the photo of the roti. I hope you do something about this. You do have one of the nicest Surinamese restaurants in Amsterdam Southeast, and one of the few Javanese restaurants in the Netherlands. This could be better. I hope you address the wait times and the taste, and get back to 4 and 5 stars soon. And after years, that one Javanese woman who's been there for years is still just as grumpy behind the counter with an unfriendly face and tone of voice.

The roti is very tasty and well packed.

Saoto, worthless...it just had a soured egg in it, as I mentioned before, but unfortunately, they keep buying those disgusting ready-made eggs from wholesalers, yuck!! If you're really hungry, DO NOT COME HERE...!! You'll wait until you faint; they don't know how to speed here. The taste of the food has really deteriorated...the satay has suddenly become thinner meat. Never again for me!!!

Tasty food, but less in quantity.

For delicious Javanese-Surinamese food this is a big recommendation. It is also very spacious so you can easily go there with a large group. The only downside is that you have to wait quite a long time for your order to be processed. But all in all 4 out of 5 stars as far as I'm concerned.

I give 5 stars but I have decided not to come anymore from today. I think I have advised people to eat here 100 times, but since the switch to ordering machines the friendliness seems to have completely disappeared. The start is messy but I forgive them, it felt like you as a customer had done something to the people, the looks you get. For me it is the end of the story, but we all know that if it goes well you can eat well here

Ordered food, but was disappointing. We had; Roti chicken, sauto, Fish (Bang Bang) and Rice pom. I found the taste of the food, not authentic Surinamese. I expected something better. Too bad...

The location is great, big, spacious and easily accessible. Unfortunately, the rest was a disappointment. The lady behind the counter was not exactly friendly. She took my receipt without saying anything, checked it and immediately threw it away. Does food often get stolen here or something? Haha. The food was disappointing, old and too much of one particular type of herbs. Only the satay sauce was really good, it tasted Javanese and had something good. Too bad the rest was not in balance with the beautiful location.

Great restaurant first the atmosphere upon entering feels good right away. And the service is also good. And then the food OMG what did I enjoy it was soooo good that was worth the wait! (I thought while I was eating)

Used to come here when it was still good. I went there recently and it was inedible. The banana was way too greasy. After I asked for a new one, I got a big mouth. Not at all customer-friendly and not recommended.

Well to start with I give the service a 1 because there is none. I ordered a saoto with egg, when I started eating my egg I smelled something sour.. I thought that can't be it probably is a smell of something else then I ate it and within 2 minutes I had to throw up in their toilet. The egg had probably been cooked for days. Nadi was doable. Bami was dry. But luckily there was an atmosphere 😁 the food was only as good as the atmosphere

I have been coming to the Smeltkroes for twenty years. The menu has never changed and always good. The staff are very friendly and they work hard to do well for their customers.

I'm not a big fan of SK because of previous experiences, but I thought oh well, it will have improved anyway. nope- got Berkat. Before the waiting time, I could have prepared everything myself at home and I would still have finished earlier. nothing in that berkat had any taste - everything was tasteless - mostly white rice - a little yellow rice with a boiled dry piece of chicken knee - a compartment full of sambal, a scoop of gudangan on top of the white rice - a few strings of noodles - 1 stick of dry meat that looked like satay - 1 container with 2 spoons of satay sauce - 3 prawn crackers - and thick fried flour with peanut flavor that resembled pejeh - and the potatoes wow - I thought I had a Dutch dish - because they were in abundance - and they were also the only ones with a little taste of SALT - and for such a large portion that can be eaten by 3 or 4 people, there was only 1 piece of chicken carbonade - wtf wtf wtf - because I live so far away I didn't go back to throw it for them but I don't go there anymore - then I'll take my time, if necessary I'll go to the Hague to warung M my get berkat - that is food and there I get value for my money - everything with taste - you notice that you are eating Indonesian dishes. the meat is more than enough for such a large dish - no, SK's food was left standing - as a teenager, they left their favorite food - well - we are done there - and we bought food for 2 families - imagine how deep the disappointment was when they left the food -

Made another attempt yesterday after a disappointing last time. Unfortunately this time it was even worse. Let me put it this way that I didn't get around to eating. People who ordered the same dishes well after us still received them earlier. After 40 minutes I simply asked for a refund and said goodbye to a restaurant that once belonged to one of my favorites.

Delicious food next time I'm in the area. I will definitely go there again.

Surinamese Javanese eatery, order via an order lock, eat on site or pick up Friendly and hospitable staff

I've been coming here for years! Always good. Just a pity that there is no soft background music. It is difficult for people who are new to know that you can only pay by card on the left and pay in cash at the counter itself, which is why the process is a bit slow.

Had to wait half an hour (at least) for a Nasi Rames. Going very slowly.

This afternoon (15-03-25) I went with my kids for the first time. At first glance it seemed like a nice place, nicely set up until the food was brought by my daughter. Looked nice at first but...sorry I have to say it. Was nothing 3 times. We ordered 3 roties and 1 pietjel. I have quite a bit of experience with cooking, so I can safely say that almost everything was not fresh, just take it from the freezer and into the microwave. I'm really sorry, but I certainly won't be coming a second time. With comments like this, I think people should do a lot better. I think it will be tasty for bakras. Once again I'm very sorry .

PEOPLE THIS IS REALLY NOT OKAY. okay so me and my family sat at the table, we got our order. It was saoto soup, bakabana and satay. That Saoto soup was inedible people!!!! The egg was sour and hard and meaty. Those soup ingredients were just spoiled! I was so disappointed! 50 euros worth of spoiled food! No, I will never come here again! And just that satay was sweet as sugar! Those bakabana were wet!! And cold!! Bean sprouts were so soft. And the people who work there have no respect as if they got out of bed on the wrong side! Except that old man. Anyways, I will never go to Smeltkroes again in my life, because this was really crying boiii. IS Just food poisoninggg!!! People don't come to this restaurant, trust me it gets worse every day, people if you want food poisoning then this is highly recommended, have a nice day.

It was made for white Dutch, not for Surinamese! Because the food doesn't taste like anything. I have been living in the Netherlands for 3 years now and I have not yet come across a restaurant where the food tastes like it does in Suriname. Cooking at home is much tastier and cleaner anyway, because you never know how they deal with hygiene in a restaurant.

I think it's such a shame why Surinamese restaurants look so old-fashioned and tired. There is no atmosphere at all inside. Maybe an idea not to give it a plaza/Mac Donald look. Food could also use an upgrade after a few years. For example, by coming up with a dish of the day. E.g. Rice with sopropo/ bakkeljauw I'm just saying something. The food is tasty, but that's not the case.

The food is good, but the waiting times for simple dishes such as a sandwich or soup are extremely long here (20-25 minutes). There is also no logical order of orders (last in first out), so organization does not run smoothly. Tip: hire interns from the Cooking School as serving helpers.

Good day, my family and I went to melting pot today and oh what a horrible experience 1. The woman at the cash register was super unfriendly and quickly became irritated. Well once we ordered we had to wait 36 ​​WHOLE minutes and it was quite quiet the staff is sitting there like Bigi Lokas doing nothing we now ask if we can have our drinks because it took way too long (3 dawets and 1 Fernandez) luckily we got them immediately and she had indicated on the receipt that she had given the Fernandez, okay we thought maybe she will only give it when the entire order is ready, well, our order is ready, she did not give us our Fernandez, I ask for it, she says that she has already given it and I say you didn't give it, it seemed as if she was forgetful and not in a good head, she sighed deeply and then later said to give the Fernandez anyway, as if it were her father's company, what kind of nonsense, dear, if you don't feel like it then you should resign. Not worthy of a star. Staff downright rude, gone to their heads, think they are fantastic. Especially Javanese older lady at checkout. And the older tall gentleman with a jampa shirt. Being polite costs nothing. I'll never come here again. And oh yes Saoto always sour aftertaste. Just as sour as that cash register lady. Didn't know about the ordering column, and was waiting. Until they shouted ORDER THERE. As if I were a dog.

Decided to have lunch here. Wasn't that busy. Upon entering you could look at the menu. But there is no one at the counter, but there is in the kitchen. From there they (sometimes) shout that if you pay by card you can use the ordering column at the end of the counter. Unfortunately, not all dishes were in stock. There were no spring rolls, rolls or telo. Saoto, Nasi satay mix, portion of satay, bakabana, dawet with mainzena and those cookies. Ate on the spot. Compliments on the layout of the tables. There is plenty of space between different tables so that you can eat more quietly and intimately. While waiting, I noticed that before pick-up, customers had many complaints about the long waiting time (there is a sign at the entrance that they have a shortage of staff) or customers who return that their order was incorrect. The head manager and her assistants also sometimes shouted at customers. Can understand because some customers did not listen to the question they were asked. After waiting about 30 minutes I was able to pick up my order. Just like with many of these types of places, you have to pick up your own order and when you have finished eating, put it in the dishwasher racks yourself. My order was packed while I wanted to eat there. I received it in the order bag and was told to unpack it at the table. I had to eat with my hands as no cutlery was available at that time. In the end, cutlery never arrived for me, but it did for others. The Saoato was manageable. The Nasi was a bit salty for me but tasty. The Satay tasted a bit raw and could have been roasted a little more. Maybe it was also the chicken. Bakabana had little satay sauce and the dawet was too sweet for me, but I concluded it would taste better without cornstarch. The cookies were decent. Because there were 4 people ahead of me in the toilet I couldn't wash my hands. I just washed my hands outside in the rain that came then.

If you want to wait a long time for your food then you should go to this place. We drove a long way to have something to eat here, only to find out that you can only pick up. I bought satay on Friday at almost closing time at Smeltkroes. A few hours after eating I immediately had a stomach flu. I just throw up foam and no medication helps. At 3:00 am I had to run to the emergency room. Because of everything I said and photos I showed to the doctors of what I vomited, they came to the conclusion that I have stomach flu with a severe fever. No more melting pot!!!!

I recently ordered roti chicken fillet. Farm-fresh vegetables, fresh roti plate, tasty pieces of chicken fillet. The chicken satay with ketjap gravy is also delicious. Bami or nasi again fresh and delicious!

Bami and nasi chicken really worthless... blocks of chicken and not tasty. sauto is okay to some extent, sate is tasty, telo too... if you make that bad too... you can better close your tent... nice open space... the only reason why I'm still going is because I can clear it out there for a while can sit...

Personeel is ongastvrij en jaagt zijn klanten die nog bezig zijn te eten de tent uit omdat het 20:30 uur is . Ook het eten is matig . Een kleine soep is zo klein dat zelf een normale eetlepel er nauwelijks inpast .

Als je naar binnen spiekt, zie je vaak een lange rij staan… Dat is geheel terecht want de gerechten zijn heerlijk. Roti en kipsaté absolute aanraders. Het personeel werkt snoeihard en is vriendelijk. Als je zelf ook je positief opstelt. Dat lijkt mij sowieso een must.

Nasi Beef was rice with a red color, not nasi, small pieces of beef but very thin without sous. Wasn't edible. Soto ajam soep gegeten en een kipsate met heerlijke pindasaus. Helaas was het ei in de soep wat zurig dat dus niet opgegeten.

Deze toko is niet meer wat het geweest is hoor. Mijn god wat een waardeloos slechte broodjes hadden we er vandaag! Meer peper dan bakeljauw, saté was heel vies en oud kippenvlees, bah.

Smeltkroes 2.0 Wat eten betreft goeie porties en het was lekker. Wij hadden de sauto soep en nasi, cassave en kipsate met pindasaus. was lekker. service: lange rij, tot aan buiten. de rij ging langzaam. het duurde lang voordat we onze eten kregen. je moet het nog steeds (zelfs bij 2.0) je eten zelf komen ophalen en lopen naar je tafel. sfeer was goed.

De Smeltkroes is naar het naastgelegen pand verhuisd en heet nu Smeltkroes 2.0! Het interieur is opgefrist en ziet er netjes uit. Er is nu ook een terras aan de achterkant vh gebouw. Het eten is gelukkig hetzelfde gebleven, Javaans-Surinaams. Mijn favorieten: de saoto, bami, bakabana met pindasaus, Teloh mix (=bakkeljauw en terie) en natuurlijk de dawet :-). Parkeren kan gratis voor de deur.

Prima bami maar zeker niet om speciaal voor terug te komen, van een balie afhalen en dan kun je het in een mega grote en ongezellige ruimte op eten

Tahu lontong is mijn favo, echt aanrader. Ook die saoto en telo kabeljauw. Ruimte plek om je saoto te genieten. Heerlijk!

Service is traag. Er staan 2 medewerkers nabij de frituur te kletsen die zien je wachten, maar reageren niet. Uiteindelijk een bestelling geplaatst. Blijkbaar moest het via iemand anders. Soato was wat zoutig. Het fabrieksei was zurig. De bakabana was niet lekker hard en deeg was niet krokant dood geslagen bij frituren. Telo zag eruit als een glazig gefrituurde friet, dan weet al dat de frituur niet op temperatuur is. Bakabana teruggestuurd kregen een blik, maar kwam badend terug in frituurvet niet veel beter. Die was nog slechter dan de vorige, die hebben we maar laten staan. Smeltkroes 2.0 zeker twee keer een doorstart gemaakt. Wat is er gebeurt met jullie speciaal voor terug gereden.

Vriendelijk personeel en lekker eten

Heerlijk eten, in een mooi Surinaams/Javaans restaurant. Zeker het proberen waard.
