Worst food ever: the chicken in the satay was still raw, the noodles were bad, and the spring rolls were limp, cold, and greasy. I threw away my portion; unfortunately, my daughter had already eaten some of it. Hopefully, she doesn't get food poisoning (in which case, I will of course report it to the NVWA). Stay away from here!

Smaller portions than I am used to. I ordered tjon moksi al la tjon, significantly less meat than normal, and a pom without chicken. The Surinamese bami was a bit dry. I have been here for a long time and notice that the cost-cutting measures are really taking their toll, although that is not visible in the prices (still good food, just not as good as it used to be).

Ordered a lamb roti to pick up; it was sour, tasted like beef. I threw it away. €17.50, so never again!

Fantastic food go there 6 times a month

We had a tjaumin with suckling pig and white rice with char sui here. The suckling pig was crispy and delicious, and the char sui was also delicious. The portions are very large, so we took home what we couldn't finish, so tomorrow we'll have another delicious meal in the air fryer and enjoy!

I've never eaten such terrible Surinamese food in my life. The roti wrapper was just straight out of a Knor package, completely flavorless, rock-hard, chicken fillets too big and hard, potatoes way too big and rock-hard, and the long beans looked like they were straight out of the freezer on my plate. All in all, inedible. I'll never order food from here again. -1 would be a better rating.

The restaurant looks very good, but the roti chicken and chicken breast tasted awful... few potatoes, tough long beans, and a bad, chewy roti! The only positive was that it had a lot of chicken and chicken breast. Too bad, I was looking forward to it!

It's a real shame what they've done to the place. The food used to be delicious with vegetables and herbs. The satay used to feed four people. Now you had to search for the two pathetic skewers in a huge bowl of sauce. That was the last time I went.

I also experienced something similar there and the funny thing is, they get angry at you because you stand up for yourself.

I went here for dinner with my family, but unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing. The roti clearly looked like it had been microwaved, and the bread was old and dry. The vegetables, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, etc., even tasted spoiled. We mentioned this during our meal, but nothing was done about it, and we received no response. When I left, the waitress asked how the food was. I sarcastically said "good," and she laughed. I found that unprofessional, especially considering the situation. All in all, this was not a pleasant experience for us. We won't be returning and advise others, if you're truly craving Surinamese food, to eat elsewhere.

Delicious, FULL food, super fast, friendly service, served hot and cooked through, crispy bacon, and chicken falling off the bone. Service with a smile, cozy decor, and good prices on the menu with a wide selection of dishes. Maybe some toothpicks on the table (tip) Until next time.

Nice place, good service. Food terrible. Tjap tjoy was reasonable, only the tofu would have been better if it had been fried a bit. Noodles, microwaved for too long, had hard bits. Telo bakkeljauw, just straight from the microwave, bakkeljauw... well. Asked for vinegar and pepper, but all I tasted was garlic and onions. No pepper. A waste of my time and money.

I got a cod sandwich for the first time at the new location. There were no other customers when I arrived, but I still had to wait a few minutes before I could order. Two young women were standing behind the counter, chatting with a boy, presumably someone they knew who was already there. After ordering, I sat down to wait. After about five minutes, another customer came in and ordered roti. To my surprise, she received her order after about fifteen minutes, while I still hadn't received anything. After she left, I got up and asked where my sandwich was. The same young woman was startled and said nothing. It turned out she had forgotten my order, and it was quickly made. No apology was offered. When I asked her if she had forgotten the sandwich, I received an awkward response instead of an apology. The young woman laughed shamefacedly, held her finger over her mouth, and said, "Shhh, don't tell anyone." I then immediately left; what terrible service! The waitresses are too busy chatting with others and completely focused on their work. I'm not used to this from the old Tjon. Furthermore, the quality of the food was disappointing. The cod was very salty and not properly reheated. Unfortunately, this isn't the Tjon of old. All in all, a disappointing experience. For those looking for truly good, authentic Surinamese food in Amsterdam Noord, I recommend Soulfood Amsterdam Noord on Klaprozenweg. The staff there is friendly, fast, and attentive, and the food is of good quality and flavor.

Ordered roti... it looked like soup. With white chicken, dry chicken. And probably got sick from that. Never again!!

I have been coming here for over 20 years and they were better in the past. However, I still give them a 4-star rating because the food and service was simply good. I enjoyed my moksi meti, bakeljauw & telo, and roti kip speciaal. It was still good!

People are always friendly and the food is delicious.

Picked up Roti and Moksi at 3:15 PM today, October 25th. Paid 33 euros for two portions. The roti was old and soggy in a torn bag, the potatoes were flavorless and rock hard, the long beans were raw, the meat was sweet (!) and especially salty, very salty. Even the masala flavor was overpowering. Moksi, well, what can be said positively? Mediocre, everything tasted bland, everything was wet. We come here often, but we've had enough of this place.

I just wanted to order for 10 people, but if I see the reviews, this place should close its doors, too bad, bad quality for waaaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive prices, more expensive is not bad, but if I can believe the reviews, this is pure fraud

This was my first encounter with Suriname cuisine and Fernando soda, loved both! Excellent all around, good food, affordable, and first class service!

I ordered a bami chicken fillet and this is what I got? A bowl of bami with a few pieces of white chicken????? (See photo) I've been coming here for years, but today is the last time!!!!!! I also ordered satay sauce and didn't even get that. It's gone way downhill!

I had a wonderful experience here. It's beautifully decorated inside. Very nice and atmospheric. The ladies behind the counter and serving are super friendly and welcoming. Portions are huge and freshly prepared. You can taste the difference right away. I had the Javanese noodles with stewed chicken and a separate chicken satay, and I can say I'll definitely be back soon. Thanks for the great service.

Just ordered a moksi meti with fried rice. What a disgrace. €19 for a bowl of bland, dry nasi and a bowl of fatty meat to compensate. DON'T DO IT!!!

Today I ordered roti with chicken and baka bana with peanut sauce. I've never had such bad Surinamese food. The baka bana was soggy and not fried properly, with a peanut sauce that tasted chemical and was clearly not homemade. The roti wrapper was pre-packaged and clearly microwaved. The roti itself was watery and tasteless. I threw it all in the trash after a few bites. I've also been feeling nauseous and having stomach cramps all evening after this meal. Absolutely not recommended!

I picked up food yesterday and unfortunately, I received spoiled, microwaveable, unsalted food that was so disgusting! Everything went in the trash for €36. I'll never regret it again.

🤣 Every five years, I'm disappointed. Baka bana (literally, overly thick banana cut in half), minimally fried with soft dough around it, soaked in old oil. The best part of this meal was that I kept the receipt and got my money back without having to offer another portion.

Food is always great, the new place looks great, only parking for the take-away is a bit difficult.

I haven't been there for a long time and now that I was in the area I thought I would go and have something to eat because I used to like the food quite a bit, now it seems like all the taste has disappeared, it's really not for me, I'm really not going there anymore

Roti chicken without taste with large pieces of chicken and whole potato. Babi pangang meat was tender but unfortunately not tasty.

Food was super bad I had shrimp in red pepper sauce which also had peanuts in it which was not on the menu otherwise I would not have taken it I also had noodles which were so sticky that it was all stuck together the Peking duck is fatty and floating in a sauce which is also not on the menu so the skin is no longer crispy 51 euros thrown away For me NEVER again

Great new location, service was fast and super friendly! The roti chicken fillet special is different than before, quite large pieces of chicken and almost no vegetables anymore plus the roti sheets are not as tough as before! Too bad because the taste is otherwise very good and I love that there is always a lot of sauce in it!

Sunday today My son went to get food and walked into the store... the lady was only busy with her phone... and left her customer standing... he left without ordering... another company did take the order for 7 people... this is also one of the reasons I don't go there anymore

Got food for more than 50 euros. Unfortunately the containers of food were all placed on their sides in the bags. Half of the food has gone through the bags. Very unfortunate! While waiting, the staff's conversations turned to cancer and hair loss. With 2 friends fighting for their lives, my hunger is gone. €50 wasted. Thank you.

Order your noodles, babi pangang with cow low kai and Javanese noodles with chicken and a hot chicken sandwich. Next, the hot chicken sandwich is not hot chicken but is just chicken with the shrimp sauce on top. The chicken from the cow low kai was still pink on the inside, just like the chicken from the Javanese noodles. The babi pangang looks like it has been fried 16 times and the sauce is so thick that it resembles applesauce. We hadn't been for a while but now we will definitely never come back! A waste of €40

Finally moved! More modern and looks cleaner because everything is new of course. Staff was okay. The nasi that I always ordered no longer tasted as good as before, I missed the wok, as the Chinese say. That was always there, but unfortunately not anymore, the sour cucumber is also no longer available (not for a while) which is a pity, it is becoming less and less, the price is getting higher and higher...

Communication did not go well when I called and came by. The employee said twice in the telephone conversation that I can pick up or deliver. I wanted to eat there but that wasn't possible. When I arrived it was possible and someone said that the employee was confused. I said I ordered the roti roll and sat down at the table. Then I was not served a roti roll but a complete roti on the table and the employee said that they do not have any roti rolls. It was tasty but way too much for me, in terms of the amount of food and the price. I'm looking for smaller bites and better communication, so this place isn't really suitable for me.

This must be a different owner because the satay used to be really tasty. Now no taste at all and the satay sauce just tastes like nothing. Now you pay €5 for just 2 sticks. Bami also has no taste.

We ordered roti chicken fillet special. They were large pieces of chicken in a tasteless (rotti) soup sauce with almost no long beans, the pancakes were cold and tough. Order was delivered quickly.

Friendly, fast service. Prices are also very reasonable. We are very satisfied and will eat here from now on after a day in Amsterdam!

Sorry Tjon, but this was really the worst roti chicken special. Large chunks of chicken fillet, with roti on top and completely wet with sauce. It looked like curry soup with large pieces of chicken fillet in it. A boiled egg instead of a boiled egg fried in butter. Sorry no. I know tastes may differ, but maybe it would be better if I don't deviate from Ram's Roti and Roopram anymore.

I always order food from Tjon Expres and the delivery person brings the food up and it is always very hot.

The phone was answered with just "hello", so I waited and it was probably said at the back that "it's Tjon Express, what do you want to order", but it only stayed with "hello" and the phone should not be answered that way. if you call a restaurant, really very unprofessional and not customer friendly! I then ordered nasi with brown beans and chicken and a nasi moksi meti. The nasi was not tasty, it was very dark due to too much soy sauce, and the brown beans with chicken was inedible, it was too thick and tasteless. I order from Tjon often, but never had such an unappetizing meal this time! The staff who work there (many young people) are also unfriendly and unprofessional. The food used to be much better and tastier, but is getting worse and worse, I don't know if I will pick up from you again. This is very unfortunate!

Had dinner with my family yesterday. We'll never do this again. Super super bad. Telo is full of oil that is heated in the microwave when ordering. Roti, the meat was not fresh. Peanut sauce was from days ago and had no taste at all, even the sambal was not spicy. Everything was bland and had no taste. Waste of my money! Never again!!! Fries at the snack bar are 10 times better

Nasie Moksi meti for €16.80. When you get home, the nasie is just not enough for 1 adult person. The meat tastes okay, but the nasie is extremely oily. There is some flavor in the nasion, but unfortunately not what it should be. The menu states that the moksi meti also includes duck. Unfortunately, no duck was seen among the meat. The first and last time I get food here.

Food poisoning from roti! My family didn't like what was in the chicken fillet when they tasted it, so they didn't eat it. I thought it was okay and just ate it. 20 hours later I was very ill and my family was not. Nauseous and vomiting, mega water-thin diarrhea, going to the toilet every 10 minutes, stomach and intestinal cramps. I was very ill for a few days because of it. Never again a Tjon Express for us.

What typhoid dogs talk me into getting a moksie with duck and then no duck but chicken. I made it clear to him not to cheat on me. Fernandez ordered and paid and I didn't receive it either. They are dirty dogs and this is not the first time either.

I ordered 2 of the same nasi... 1 was delivered with vegetables and the other without! If you call people you are more or less called a liar! Regardless of the fact that you indicate that you want to send photos or make video calls, you will not be believed! So it is a matter of principle where you will lose anyway because they do not give in to the truth! It's a shame that you spend more than €120 in 2 weeks and people treat you this way!

Absolutely disgusting! The spareribs I ordered were an unappetizing sight, drenched in a red food coloring that looked more like chemical waste than a marinade. The texture was hard and plasticky, comparable to candle wax - a direct insult to any taste bud. Without hesitation, I threw this culinary nightmare into the trash. A clear warning: avoid this establishment if you love your taste and health. And speaking of their 'grilled chicken', don't expect anything more than a pathetic chicken leg that appears to be more bone than meat. A grotesque attempt at cooking that would offend even the hungriest stray dog. In short, if you don't have masochistic tendencies towards culinary torture and throwing money away, avoid this hopelessly incompetent 'restaurant' at all costs.

It really depends on who the cook is at the moment. Now I had specially ordered a babi pangang and a Roti chicken fillet, of which the babi pangang was dry and with the Roti it was as if they had to get rid of the chicken. So sometimes it's good and other times it's much worse.
