PANCAKES Amsterdam Zuidas in Zuidas

This experience was disappointing. The prices were high, and the food was of subpar quality. A pancake with onion was burnt, and the one with salmon was simply flat and unappetizing. Service was slow and unfriendly, and the organization was chaotic. The toilets were filthy. On a Sunday at noon. Not recommended.

Disgusting, a bunch of mice running around there.

Disappointing. Went a Sunday morning (10:00am). One tired staff member and a dirty restaurant (syrup on parts of the floor and un wiped tabletops). Found a table, ordered and after 20 mins wait got the wrong order so the kids had to share until the right pancakes came. Aside from this, the servings are smaller and prices much higher than a few years ago. About €60 for one adult and two kids.

Friendly and fast service. Place for a students, youngsters. Interior is simple, comfortable enough. Dutch pancakes were great.

Total disappointment. Not worth the price. 50 minutes waiting for two ready-made pancakes that arrived cold. We complained and the girl didn't even bat an eyelash.

We arrived and we could quickly sit down at a table. Once our food came, we didn’t get plates. We asked for plates and they never brought it. We asked for plates again and they finally brought it. As we unloaded the plates, two of the plates had weird stuff on it. A person in our group wiped their plate and the napkin was brown. We all got new plates and thankfully it was clean. The food was good and the pancakes were crunchy. I think this place is good, just improve on the plate situation.

Seemed a bit pricey but I have to say the cinnamon apple dutch pancake was very good. Also the eggs and bacon were perfectly cooked.

The place has a nice outside seats and inside some small play area for kids. We ordered some coffee, quite good. However the smoothies were not available, while stated on the menu card. All in all, worth to visit it.

Wanted to have Pancakes badly and found this near our hotel. Went in and the place was quiet. We were given a table very soon! After that we had to wait for some time to get attended which was a little frustrating. Then we had to wait for our food for a good while. I could see other people getting anxious with the wait as well. The pancakes were tasty so worth the wait. A lot of options on the menu as well! The staff were friendly and nice. There was some smoke etc due to the kitchen so might be unpleasant for some. If they can make the service faster, I think it’d be a great place with 5 stars!

First time I have pancakes in Amsterdam and it was a very good experience, we came to this place because it was not very busy at that time. It is a very nice and spacious place. They have both savory and sweet pancakes. I loved it. When we finished they gave us a keychain with the typical Dutch shoe. 100% Recommended.

Paid almost 40 euros for 2x pancakes + coffee. They charge 3.80 for half a liter of tap water. The American pancakes were reheated and not fresh. The Dutch pancake was very thin and certainly not sufficient for lunch. You pay 14.50 euros for the pancake. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant and the waitress still managed to give us the wrong receipt, so it was still 20 euros higher. No apologies heard either. You will then be given the option to leave a tip on a card machine. No, so! I say skip this restaurant.

If you have kids you HAVE to visit pancakes Amsterdam! Ahmed immediately greeted my kids & I and directed us towards the playroom. They kept themselves entertained and had fun while I enjoyed a cup of coffee. Their Americans pancakes were nice and fluffy and their Dutch pancakes were delicious and full of flavor. The chef was also accommodating to any changes we needed on our order. The decor of the restaurant was so inviting and cozy, definitely a great experience.

It's between I liked it and I loved it. The service is really great, kind and fast. The food is good, the pancakes could be more filling. The price is relatively high, but it's also the location at Zuid-as of course. I would come back for a nice cup of coffee and pancake.

Visited on a Sunday around noon, not busy, but can only recommend the coffee (latte), pancakes are mediocre: bacon isn't crisp, dough isn't special, the pacos are tiny and left a bad taste (aged chicken?). Plates for group not served in parallel, leaving my wife waiting for her pancakes while my packs got cold. Need to ask for a plate. Tab water is charged. Overall not recommended for anything other than a coffee to go, as decoration looks only nice in the dark.

Had some DELICIOUS “Pacos” with bacon and egg. Such a fun idea! The waiter was so kind to us, we had a great time!

Every kind of pancake you could imagine and they are super delicious. The American style are incredibly light and fluffy. The classic Dutch style are available in a mind-boggling selection of offerings. They are also open fairly late. If you’re in the mood for a pancake or crepe-type meal, try it. If they had these in the US they’d make a fortune. The only downside was the service. We went twice and both times there seemed to be only one overworked server. They were very nice but getting things like water or tea was very slow.

Pancakes Amsterdam is my daughter's favorite. Unfortunately, her favorite wasn't available today because it's not strawberry season. However, Ahmed from the service immediately gave her a few other options, which was very nice! We also tried the Pacos. The one with chicken and spinach is highly recommended. Pancakes is centrally located on the Zuidas, within walking distance of Zuid station, which makes this location ideal for those who still have to wait for a train.

Wonderful Pancakes! Fateha is a very nice and helpful staff, she also giving lots of cream on my maple latte for a nice picture. I love the pancake with bacon, apple and cheese so much. The bacon gives an amazing taste to the whole thing. But they don't offer mini pancake here, if you are looking for the mini one, go to their store in other locations.

Ok taste with bad service. We were there around 10:45 in the morning, only two guests were there, waitress pointed out where we could sit, then just let us be. We had to go to Kassa to order food. We got two cups of black coffee which is "coffee"in the menu, then we must pay 0.5euro for 10ml milk, which didn't show in the menu. Of course finally we went to Kassa to pay, and almost got forced to pay tip. Everything was in Dutch, waitress didn't try to explain anything to me who apparently is a tourist. I had to ask one by one to choose not to pay tips.

I would skip this one. This has nothing to do with old-fashioned Dutch, traditional pancakes.

Arrived at 10:10am on 08/21/24. Damage The hostess was not welcoming, and very slow or very busy despite the empty room. She lacked patience with our beginner level in English And the curiosity to discover the map. No Dutch Pancake because the preparation is not operational. Finally we left without consuming to go to Mama Pancakes tested the day before. On the other hand, ++ for the children's area in the basement. Clean place. Varied menu.

Nice food nice service, Fateha is kind and caring

I returned to the same place after 3 months and was a bit disappointed with the same pancake I had ordered. Unlike the last one, which had a balanced taste with good texture and crispiness, the pancake was a bit soggy and left a cloying taste. The service improved slightly; it was still slow but more friendly. I am not sure if I will return for the third time.

Pancake Amsterdam offers good food, but the overall experience was a bit disappointing due to the lack of flexibility and some odd seating arrangements. For instance, it’s strange that you can't simply order pancakes with maple syrup alone—you have to order them with bacon and then ask for the bacon to be removed. They also only offer fried eggs with no option for scrambled. The restaurant itself is very spacious, yet we were seated at a shared table while nine other tables were completely empty. When we asked to move, we were told those tables were reserved. We stayed for a good hour, and no one else showed up—just us and one other couple at the shared table. It was puzzling and slightly uncomfortable. While the food is enjoyable, a bit more flexibility in the menu and a more logical seating arrangement would greatly improve the overall experience.

Ordered a savory pancake were really good and filling. The waitress Fateha was really sweet and kept me company until my food was ready! Great food and great service!

Maria is truly the sweetest and nicest hostess I have ever seen in my life. We came all the way from Enschede and were able to eat a pancake just before closing time. Food is tasty but very overpriced. 16.50 for a single Dutch pancake with a sprinkling of cheese and 3 rashers of bacon. The biggest insult is the only option for water is 4€ for 330mL of filtered water. Maybe they can get away with this in the city centre but this store was basically empty on a Saturday morning.

The banana-chocolate pancake is my favourite choice. I Also love that you can customise your pancake with every option.

I was super excited that a local pancake chain had gluten free options on the menu, and advertised many checks to make sure your pancake was gluten free. First, I wanted to order a combo topping option, but was unable to remove an ingredient. I was told to "just create my own" but ordering the same toppings was over 3$ more. So, I did a create your own, and I can't explain how disappointed I was. First, the pancake did not come with the flag, the rippled plate, or the coloured napkin to indicate is was gf as per the website and menu! The menu specifically said the flag guaranteed it was gluten free! When I asked, the server was rude and just said "well it is" and walked away! The strawberries were 4.50$ for 6 strawberries, not even cut up! The ice cream was freezer burnt 4.80$, and the pancake itself was hard, burnt on the bottom, unable to be cut and flavourless. I ripped it apart with my hands and ate it only because of how hungry I was - it took OVER 30 min and the restaurant was almost empty. My boyfriend had the regular pancake,and he didn't even finish it because of how dry and flavourless it was too. Do yourself a favour and go literally anywhere else. At least there were nice windows and the restaurant seemed reasonably clean...

Wife and daughter loved the place only downside is there is no parking anywhere so either tram or bike or be prepared to pay for parking garage.

It’s not only worst pancakes I ever saw, but also overpriced. Ordered pancake with bacon, cheese, mushrooms and leek, and a mocktale. 30 minutes go by. 0 people except us. Waitress just hanging out on her phone. Calling her, asking if we can have at least drinks. “Ah uh yeah sorry I don’t know how to do mocktale, I’ll ask my colleague”. Brings my husband cold cappuccino, throwing there some milk foam leftovers. Finally brings us pancakes. Mine is obviously burnt. “Ah uh well it’s how we always do it. And we can’t do mocktail, do you want something else to drink?”. Pancakes are tasteless. We never left any other cafe so fast.

I ordered the new menu item: pancos (pancake tacos) with babaganoush and grilled veggies. Pancake itself was fluffy with good thickness. But the grilled veggies were actually pickled eggplants. They were too acidic so I had to separate them from the food. Also the pancos are not served in a plate, which makes eating a bit messy. Perhaps usual pancake toppings are a better choice (banana or bacon). Fresh Ginger tea was nice and served with a small stroopwafel.

The pancakes are great (including the gluten- and lactose-free options) and Fateha is very nice!

Brought a friend from the UK to try Dutch pancakes. They open at 10 so we had late breakfast. The lady who welcomed us and took our orders was very friendly and managed to understand my bad Dutch as I was trying to practice the new language that I’m learning. We ordered three pancakes: bacon and leeks, ham and cheese and strawberry with meringue and whipped cream. The savoury pancakes were very good and filling. The sweet pancake was equally good. We also ordered flat white coffee and green tea. I would have loved my green tea to be a bit hotter but it was alright. The place is clean, airy and also child friendly; they have some kid’s play area. Service is just ok, not fast but also not slow. Overall, it’s a good place to have pancakes. I’ll definitely come back.

Disgusting service. We had to wait 1 hour and 15mins for food. Others had arrived after us were served their pancakes at least 30mins before us. The waitress had no experience knowing who to serve first. To make things worse the coffee made me want to throw up, the worst I have ever tasted! The waitress rudely asked me to leave a tip which I found hilarious. The whole experience ruined my final day in Amsterdam. Avoid at all costs if you appreciate your health and sanity. Much better places next door with better service.

Honestly, 15 euros for one thin pancake (i took ham&cheese), is def not worth, i expected that it will be full of ham and melted cheese (you need to put something to be worth 15 euros). And it wasn't, it was 4 pieces of ham and cheese was burned on top of it. It was worth to try cause reviews are nice, but price doesn't worth the quality and the taste.

We came for the kids corner but it is next to the open kitchen downstairs and very gloomy. Pancakes are ok but not great for the high price they cost. Service is warm and welcoming and makes up for the negative points.

I would recommend trying it out. My expectations were higher. The atmosphere is fine, nothing special and extraordinary. The service was a little bit slow and we were there on Saturday early afternoon. It's pricey but the taste again is fine but nothing you will not forget. 😅

I wanted to eat vegan and dairy-free. And it was tasty! Many options for vegan, wheat-free and dairy-free!

We visited this place to have a brunch. Unfortunately they mixed our orders couple of times and we had to wait too long to eat the pancakes. Being with kids, it has been a tough one to manage the expectations. Staff were super helpful and kind, however the orders were not well received. The place smells a lot as the ventilation is not good. Pancakes were delicious but overall experience was not good.

We have been coming here for some time because of its child-friendliness (large table and play corner downstairs). Owner/cook very friendly; service changes often and unfortunately not always competent. Food is delicious.

When I came here, the restaurant was nearly empty. Still it took about 20-30 minutes to cook my pancake. And it was very average (lacking salt, to my taste at least). I hope these are not the best pancakes in Amsterdam.

But the service is quite bad - I’ve been here a few times and every time is a struggle to attract the attention of anyone from the staff to just order or pay. Drinks need improvement - they’re watered down/not very delicious. The place is good for kids - they have kids corner with blocks and toys.

We came in on a Sunday afternoon and the 2 other filled tables had already had their pancakes. The waiter, Jan, took our order haphazardly and after 30mins lots more people had already come in and we still didn’t have anything, not even tap water that we asked for. We asked Jan about it and he brought a cappuccino that we didn’t order and said we can just have it even if we didn’t order it. The pancake orders then started being served for new customers that came after us and I asked Jan about ours. He rudely told me that this is a restaurant and that I have to wait then asked what I ordered again and put it in as I stood at the counter to watch. Our food only finally came after 45mins. Another family also complained that they have been waiting for 45mins and Jan exclaimed loudly at them. This kind of rude and hostile attitude from a waiter from Pancakes Amsterdam is very disappointing and uncalled for.

Pancake Amsterdam is a popular pancake place for a New Year's Day brunch with your wife. However, on the day of your visit, the service was unfortunately slow due to a shortage of staff. While the food is still delicious and the atmosphere charming, the slow service can be a bit frustrating, especially when you're looking to start the year off with a pleasant dining experience. Hopefully, the management will address the staffing issue to ensure a smoother and more enjoyable experience for future guests.
