I had high hopes for Pancakes Amsterdam, especially since the food was absolutely wonderful, but unfortunately, my experience was marred by an incredibly frustrating issue. After finishing my meal, I was told that they couldn’t provide change for my cash payment. As a tourist, I rely on paying with cash to manage my budget and avoid international card fees, so this was a huge inconvenience. I was forced to pay an extra €5 because they didn’t have the proper change on hand. What made the situation worse is that I was never informed beforehand that they only accepted card payments or didn’t have change for cash. This was not communicated to me before I placed my order, which is a huge oversight. In this day and age, when cash is still widely used, I find it hard to believe that a restaurant can’t accommodate basic cash transactions. It was shocking and disappointing to have my experience soured in such a way. I really hope they reconsider this policy moving forward, as it left me with a bad taste in my mouth—despite the great food.

Fue impactante y decepcionante tener mi experiencia amargada de tal manera. Realmente espero que reconsideren esta política hacia adelante, ya que me dejó con un mal sabor de boca, a pesar de la gran comida.

Their menus are really good. The lemonades & juice were amazing, the food was fresh & yummy. We got a small souvenir when leaving as well. The service was really nice.

GLUTEN FREE beautiful place (there are 4 in total in Amsterdam) very well equipped for gluten free. Just ask to get a specially gluten-free menu where you can find the same dishes as the normal menu, only with the price increased by €2. I tried a traditional pancake with bacon, cheese and apples at a cost of €20, very good!

Looking for lunch while waiting for the train to Paris, finally tried this meal. It is located right next to the canal. There are sweet pancakes on the menu and there are also salty ones. The pancakes are delicious and the portion is really filling. The waitresses are all friendly

Nice pancakes in a cozy light atmosphere, great view in the back of this tiny building made by Amsterdam's architect Jan de Meijer, in a modern style, unique for that time. I met super nice staff and place was taken care of so well, extremely clean!

Very nice view, next to the water.

Interesting restaurant. We went there with 2 toddlers and they got a portion of poffertjes to share. The portion comes with a flag pick. Both toddlers wanted to have it and I asked the waitress kindly for another pick. She said “no, they are too expensive. You get one flag pick per portion”. I thought she’s kidding but she was serious. When the kids started to fight over it, I said “please give me another one, I will pay for the second portion”. This time waitress said “ok I will make an exception for you but normally we don’t give a second one”. The conversation sounds surreal even when writing it. Anyway, never again. The strange thing is; then they gave us two keychains as souvenir when we asked for the bill. I’m sure a simple flag pick costs much less than a keychain.

We visited the restaurant at 16:25. No order was possible, the staff said, we will close at 17:00.

Our first visit to Amsterdam, this beautiful little restaurant was right outside the Central train station. They were so kind, the food was so good. Definitely a perfect way to start your trip in Amsterdam , or grab a snack on your way out.

Unjustified and insanely expensive. Pancake with bacon and cheese with only three stripes of bacon and invisible traces of chees (price = €15.50). A bottle of tap water costs €3,80 with the excuse that is is chilled and filtered... the tap water in Amsterdam doesn't need to be filtered ... Service is slow and low quality service. The location is beautiful

Nice place to stop after arriving by plane and/or train. Food was good, coffee was good, setting was very nice with nice waterfront views.

The place is recommended for pancakes obviously and good scenery but when you go inside, they don’t allow you to sit at the part by the water for some reason. The waitresses took their time to eat an apple instead of taking orders. They were not very friendly, especially to customers asking to use the restrooms. After a sweet Dutch pancake & cappuccino, I asked for a glass or bottle of water but I was told that they didn’t have either. My first time in a restaurant without water! With this quality of service, I don’t plan to go back here.

Had a great sea view and an amazing breakfast. The pancakes were taking over the table and were full of toppings. The taste was phenomenal and I couldn’t even finish mine. The service was quick, only thing could improve is time between finishing the meal and paying.

Lovely pancakes with amazing views!

There was a young brunette girl who was very kind and served us with a smile. The blonde woman acted very rudely and when we had difficulty using the restaurant’s QR code to order acted as if she, the waitress, was doing us a great service to help us order given our difficulties! Right after we got up we didn’t realise that there wasn’t an easily accessible toilet and asked despite getting up a moment ago, if we could use the toilets on their premise since we bought a full lunch and drinks for our family (~€90). However, instead of responding politely that since we paid we could no longer use the toilets she snapped at us saying we were no longer customers and could not use the toilets. Despite buying a full meal moments before and having an older/elder who needed to use the restroom, she said we needed to go the public/station toilets. Not so much the inconvenience of not using the premises facilities but her attitude was the problem. Make sure she’s not working or go to a different branch. The food was decent but the coffee was salty and sour. Either not pulled correctly, defective batch, or (not impossibly) tampered with. The savoury dutch pancakes were decent but the whole experience was not worth being insulted and disrespected.

Disgusting, this place should close. I saw rats running around the restaurant and kitchen. I saw a dead rat. I've talked to other friends who've been there and they said the same thing. This is a serious health concern and I don't know how how their business is still open. This should be sued.

I recently dined at the location by the waterfront, conveniently located across from the central train station. The setting was so cute, and I was impressed by the variety of options on the menu, including gluten-free, vegan, and lactose-free choices. The staff was welcoming and helpful, and despite the prime location, there was no line. Most importantly, the flavor did not disappoint—both my savory and sweet pancakes were absolutely amazing! This place is a real gem, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit. This is not a paid or promotional post. This reflects my personal experience and opinion.

Amsterdam without Pancakes, a no go😁

It is a busy place but very accessible. We parked in the ParkBee garage for €5.20 per hour and then it was a 6-10 minute walk. There was fast service and the food was very tasty. The waiter was very friendly. We ourselves did not like the team leader very much. The lady was in contact with her colleagues in a very informal and rude manner and only when we left did she act friendly. We were not very satisfied with her, but otherwise we were.

Such great pancakes. We had the ham and cheese as well as the vanilla, strawberry coconut. Even better service and a beautiful view on the water. Can’t beat it

The food and presentation is very nice. The staff is very kind except for the manager. Blond lady sitting like a queen talking with her workers like they’re slaves. Trying to correct them on the smallest point however costumers are happy. When typical Dutch people came in she started welcoming them. But when foreigners came in she just ignored it.

The staff is unhelpful and unpleasant. My friend overheard the manager using foul language (the F word) to describe customers. The service was slow, even though it was not busy. Food is mediocre, especially for €18 a pancake. And unfortunately, because of the location, the outdoor patio smells strongly of urine. Overall, I do not recommend this to anyone.

Cute little pancake house right on the edge of the river Ij. Coffee was hot and strong. The dutch style pancakes were large and tasty. Any of the choices on the extensive menu will brighten your day.

Overpriced tourist trap. Avoid at all costs. Go to any of the other pancake houses not in this chain, that are within a 5 minute walking distance. BTW, anyone who travels about Dutch pancakes hasn't had good a French crepes. That's just my humble opinion.
