Honestly, it feels like a rip-off. €60 for two crepes, a flat white and a Coca-Cola. The crêpes barely had any toppings or filling, so they were really disappointing for the price (1 small egg on the salty one). Definitely not worth it and I wouldn’t recommend it

This was a first stop in Amsterdam. So many pancake options. They are light and tasty but very big. If you aren’t super hungry you and share. The staff was very friendly, the food was good and the scenery was amazing.

Pancakes are ok but too expensive

Vegans beware: Ordering something vegan is more complicated than it seems and likely to be gotten wrong. They have a special menu for the dishes with vegan and gluten-free batter, but the dishes have the exact same names as on the standard menu. They have a Veggie Queen with vegan batter and they have the same Veggie Queen with standard batter. Even though I specifically asked for the vegan menu and ordered the Veggie Queen while looking at the special menu where it was labeled as vegan, I got the Veggie Queen with standard batter and only realized halfway through. If you don't specifically ask for the vegan batter, you won't get the vegan batter. If you don't have the little dutch flag on your pancake, it wasn't forgotten, it just isn't vegan, you didn't get the vegan batter. Be very precise about your order do not forget checking for the little dutch flag.

Nice place, friendly service, good pancakes

It is certainly busy, but the service with 2 amazing staff helped me out really well. The food is great if you have a sweet tooth. There are so many options for the pancakes and the kitchen staff is very friendly. The location is convenient if you want to grab a quick bite before leaving for the train, and there is a beautiful view in sunny weather!!

During our stay in Amsterdam, we wanted to try one of the most famous specialties of Dutch cuisine, and we chose Pancakes Amsterdam at the IJ, partly because of its location overlooking the water, just steps from Central Station. The restaurant is well-kept, bright, and offers a beautiful view of the IJ, features that certainly make it pleasant and are its main selling point. The staff was also friendly, and service was quite quick despite the crowds. Unfortunately, however, the overall experience wasn't convincing. Our expectations were very high, especially considering the restaurant's reputation, but the pancakes were good, leaving no lasting impression. The quality of the ingredients is undoubtedly good, and the menu offers a wide selection of both sweet and savory options, but the price-to-experience ratio didn't seem to live up to the place's reputation. First-time visitors to Amsterdam will probably appreciate the idea of ​​trying traditional Dutch pancakes here, but personally, it wasn't one of the gastronomic experiences we'll remember with great fondness. If we were to return to the city, we'd be curious to try a lesser-known place, perhaps more frequented by locals.

I had the pancake with eggs and spinach, and it was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked, beautifully balanced in flavor, and clearly prepared with great care and attention to detail. A special thank you to the chef, Bilal, for the outstanding food and his genuinely warm and professional manner. He personally asked about the service and the quality of the food, which showed how much he truly cares about the guests’ experience. Excellent food, wonderful hospitality, and a very high standard overall. Definitely one of the best pancakes I’ve had in Amsterdam. Highly recommended, and I would gladly come back again!

You could really taste the quality of the ingredients, and the whole dish was very well prepared. Chef Bilal also made our visit even more enjoyable. He was very friendly, respectful, and professional, and he kindly checked with us to make sure we were happy with both the food and the service. That personal attention was truly appreciated. Great food, excellent hospitality, and a lovely experience overall. We would definitely recommend this place and look forward to visiting again!

This place is extremely overpriced. Also, we asked for tap water and they replied that they can sell bottled water. It turned out that they are selling tap water for 4.10€ half litre. They call it “their water” and make you pay 4.10€ for tap water. Ridiculous

Very good pankes! But they "don't do tap water", charging you €4 for 0.5l instead.

Good pancakes but quite expensive

I ordered vanilla ice cream to go with the basic butter poffertjes, and it was delicious.

The map took us to the wrong place, we found this restaurant on the waterfront.Highly recommend especially if you are gluten intolerant.

We visit this shop every time we come to Amsterdam. Always brilliant service from the staff. But wow, this place has gotten crazy expensive. Hard to find a pancake under €18. For two people to have to pancakes and 2 coffees and be almost €50 is wild. It now feels like a tourist trap and we didn't even get out complimentary "Pancake Clog" to mark out visit this year.

The location is a real plus, with a lovely view of the ferries and the port, making for a pleasant setting. As for the food, the pancakes are generous, but the overall experience is rather unremarkable. They're not bad, but they don't leave a lasting impression. However, what really spoiled our meal was the state of the place. Everything seemed quite dirty, and there was a strong smell of urine, which made the experience much less enjoyable.

Came here on July 9 in the morning before catching a ferry across. The two female servers were very nice and accommodating when we walked in. Highly recommend the iced latte, it was amazing. I ordered the dutch pancake with spinach, egg and added bacon. It was good and it's a lot of food, but the middle of the pancake was very gooey like it wasn't cooked all the way through. My husband got the dutch pancake egg benedict and he liked it. Atmosphere was quiet and a great spot before catching a train or ferry.

We had a wonderful time at Pancakes Amsterdam right by the water! We came here specifically because my daughter has severe allergies and the menu and allergy labeling was amazing. They even have free postcards and keychains for the kids. Wonderful experience!

Had the American pancakes with bacon and they were spot on. Super fluffy pancakes, perfectly crispy bacon, and plenty of syrup — such a good way to start the day. Definitely worth stopping by if you’re passing through Centraal.

Some of your staff members should have received more training. I always pay bills in Euro with my UK bank card when I go on holidays in many EU countries, because the bank will help me convert Euro automatically into British Pounds with a very good exchange rate. When I paid the bill at your restaurant with my UK bank card, your card machine asked whether I wish to pay my bill in Pounds or Euro. I was about to choose to pay in Euro. However, your waitress did not ask me for any permission in advance, and she chose to get me pay in British Pounds instead of Euro. I ended up paying more unnecessary money because of this. Your waitress didn’t seem to understand the situation and became unapologetic. Hugely disappointing and very unprofessional. Also, the food was mediocre but came with a hefty price tag. I go to Amsterdam quite often, and I do not recommend this restaurant

Had to visit a dutch pancake restaurant during my Amsterdam trip. Saw this branch of pancakes Amsterdam- very close to amsterdam central station and ferry. Nice view of IJ. Staff were warm and friendly and quick service. We tried dutch coffee- egg nogg was good twist and add on to a normal coffee , traditional dutch pancake with bacon , cheese and apple- all 3 ingredients complemented each other well and didn’t make it too sweet nor savoury, its right balance. Overall had good delightful satisfying meal and worth the price. (This particular branch has good views)

We tried both sweet and savoury options, and honestly, both were equally amazing. The poffertjes were perfectly balanced, not overly sugary, and beautifully presented. The savoury pancakes were just as impressive — warm, filling, and packed with delicious spinach, mushroom and bell pepper toppings served with a side of pesto. You can tell they really focus on quality ingredients and making everything fresh. What made the experience even more special was the ambiance and location. The view was beautiful, and the whole place had such a cozy, welcoming vibe. It was the perfect spot to relax, enjoy good food, and soak in the Amsterdam atmosphere. A special mention to the hostess as well — she was incredibly kind, warm, and thoughtful throughout our visit. She even gave us adorable souvenir keychains, which was such a sweet gesture and made the experience feel even more memorable and personal. Great food, lovely people, beautiful setting — definitely one of our favourite food experiences in Amsterdam. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the city! ❤️

My wife and I had a wonderful meal at this restaurant, located just behind the station on the IJ River. The pancakes are delicious and carefully prepared, probably among the best we've had in the city. The location is very convenient and modern, although I must admit that the prices are a bit steep for the type of meal. However, the quality of the food and the speed of the service justify the expense for a special occasion in Amsterdam. Useful note: The restaurant doesn't accept cash (card only), and the view of the passing ferries makes for a very pleasant atmosphere!

We stopped here after a long early morning tour and grabbed some Poffertjes and gluten-free Dutch pancakes. We loved the separate gluten-free menu had lots of options and felt included in the traditional Dutch meal.

The location of this Pancakes Amsterdam is excellent. You can get views of ferries going around while eating the pancakes (even when you sit inside). The staff is extremely good and polite. The pancakes are as always tasty and very good. Also I like that at pancakes Amsterdam they keep changing their special pancakes and I always find something new over there. This time I had spinach and goat cheese pancake and it was extremely good. However I think the prices of pancakes have increased a lot. I think 21-22 eur for a pancake is too high.

We had an amazing experience with them . We ordered classic Dutch pancake with a chocolate and vanilla ice cream topping and it was absolutely delicious! Price was also ok. Staff were quite friendly and they served us at their closing times which was very nice!

The pancakes were very tasty and a great location for the eurostar. The staff were initially unwilling to accomodate our large group but in the end they did which we appreciate. The pancakes are expensive and slightly overpriced but location factor.

The restaurant/café offers a lovely view of the water...if you sit in the back. The pancakes were really delicious, and there was a wide selection. However, they weren't really worth the price for a pancake...The seating was very cramped, the plates and glasses weren't properly clean, and the toilet door didn't close properly.

The lady who served us seemed a bit irritated about having to work on a Sunday, but otherwise polite. She came to take away my husband's plate and ask if everything had been to our liking when I still had at least a third of my meal in front of me. This gave the impression that we had to leave quickly, even though it wasn't super busy. This was a bit of a shame because the food itself was delicious and quite a generous portion. So, despite the price, it was a nice full plate of delicious pancakes!

Directly on Damrak, literally a couple minutes’ walk from Amsterdam Centraal Station. One of the most convenient breakfast spots in the city if you’re in/out on a layover. Service is quick — great when you’re on a tight schedule. Very nice cook!!

I was curious about Dutch pancakes, so I was debating which location to visit. I ended up going to a place near the harbor, hoping to enjoy the ocean view. The pancakes are thin, so they taste like pancakes, but they're delicious in a unique way.

We found this spot by chance after stopping at Amsterdam Central to take a passport photo. It sits right on the waters edge at the back of the station and the facade has the charm of a small coastal shack. It was busy but we were seated right away as a table for two. Larger groups should expect a short wait since we saw a party of four wait about ten to fifteen minutes. The menu covers classic Dutch pancakes, American style pancakes, poffertjes, a build your own section, and a category for the more health conscious crowd. I ordered the salmon, spinach, and cheese Dutch pancake and added extra grated cheese and a fried egg. My husband chose the bacon, cheese, and apple version and added ham. We also ordered fresh mint and ginger tea which felt perfect on a cold morning. The pancakes were cooked with precision. The edges had a light crisp and the cheese melted into a proper crust. The smoked salmon is more assertive in flavor than what we are used to in the United States. Mine also came with a touch of pesto. The kitchen mixed up my order slightly and gave me two fried eggs but it worked out well. We finished everything on our plates. It was exactly what we wanted on a quiet Sunday morning. Service was friendly and efficient.

Pancakes Amsterdam was the perfect place to warm up on a chilly, windy morning. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a great view right on the water. This is a super cute pancake spot with a beautiful view it's also very convenient if you're waiting for your train! The pancakes were tasty and perfectly fine, though nothing spectacular. The great atmosphere, view, and convenience still make this a highly recommended stop!

We ate Dutch pancakes. Quite different than american style. I found it more healthy with simple taste. It was raining so we sat inside by the seaside. Lovely atmophere.

We were really looking forward to the pancakes and chose one Dutch and one American. One sweet, the other savory. Unfortunately, apart from the friendly service, the great view, and the two end-of-the-day treats for our daughter, we were very disappointed. The pancakes were both only lukewarm. The one with cheese and spinach was very dry, burnt, and lacking in flavor. The sweet one with banana, chocolate sauce, and cookie crumble was also dry and tasteless. The latte was unfortunately just okay. Both lacked that certain something. What a shame! We really expected more here, especially given the very hefty and high prices for really cheap ingredients. Our impression of not eating at chain restaurants was once again fully confirmed. The reviews are also unfortunately hard to understand. What a shame. On top of that, there was a fruit fly invasion during our visit. Which made things even worse. We'll look for something else next time. So much more could be done with the location and the product range.
