Good location, nice decoration and good food. Staff was very friendly. However it's expensive for the food quantity, and don't forget to order sides otherwise your steak will be served alone... Pancakes were worth it but a bit dry.

We dined at this place one evening without checking reviews beforehand, as we prefer not to be influenced while traveling. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a terrible experience. The food was of very low quality, with everything seemingly coming straight out of a bag of frozen products. The salmon tartare was made with an avocado sauce that tasted like it came from Lidl or Aldi, the salmon itself resembled a slice of pre-packaged smoked fish, and the mango was unripe. Even the fries were clearly the cheapest frozen variety. I rarely write negative reviews, but this place should not be in business. It charges prices comparable to a nice restaurant while serving food that might even be outdone by McDonald's."

Friendly waiters, too bad they don't ask for the meat to be cooked. In addition, a steak for 32 euros which is the size of 2 minced steaks plus a salad for 18 euros without sauce is very disappointing. I strongly advise against it if you are very hungry for an average budget

We stopped for a snack. We had both sweet and savory snacks and both were excellent! Count on €13 for avocado toast, €11 for granola and €7 for cappuccino.

First time in Amsterdam and needed to eat. A lovely man invited us on after seeing us looking at the menu. Warm and comfortable inside. A more upmarket feel to the place for couples and families alike. Both seafood, pasta etc on the menu. Had fish, calamari and fries with salad and a soft drink. Came to 50 euros. Not cheap but very tasty and plenty of it. Would recommend a visit to Gayo.

The friendliest staff I have ever met! The food came out quickly and was excellent. The wine complimented the food and we stayed with drinks looking out the window over a canal. I enjoyed the atmosphere here but the service and food was so efficient that it would be a good place to drop in for a quick coffee or meal.

The service is a bit forgetful. We had to ask for cutlery while the food was already there. Asking for water twice. Asked three times for the sauces. That was a shame. Ultimately decided to eat dessert somewhere else.

Decoration very creative and beautifully designed, unfortunately it's quite cold in here. 🥶 Service was friendly, but some things were forgotten or served incorrectly. We also got the starter with the main course which filled the whole table. Food was okay, rather dry and cold.

We were the only couple in the restaurant, service was pretty slow considering there were two waiters, neither doing much. The lasagne was lacklustre and burnt at the bottom and sides and rather plain. Shame as the interior of the restaurant was what attracted us to give it a go hoping the food would have been given the same effort but sadly not!

We decided to have lunch here after being influenced by a TikTok post. The place is beautifully and attractively decorated and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The food looked fantastic, but unfortunately the taste was disappointing. With the carbonara, the bacon was as good as cabbage and it also tasted slightly bitter. The bruschetta had very little tomato on it and the lasagna had no sauce at all between the layers on one side of the piece. The potential in the restaurant is really there, but unfortunately it is not yet reflected in the food.

We stopped in for lunch after visiting Anne Frank’s House. The restaurant is inviting with a cute decor, friendly staff, and a good r&b playlist. We both ordered the Bacon Eggs Benedict which was flavorful, good portion, and filling. The Benedict is served over a piece of toast instead of an English Muffin and the bread was delicious! The hollandaise sauce was delicate and not too thick, the bacon was cooked perfectly (not too soggy and not too crunchy) and the eggs were perfectly runny. Honestly a solid Eggs Benedict! The side salad doesn’t come dressed so it felt more like a garnish. The server and chef were both Italian and super friendly. If I went back, I would try the Tuna Melt next as that looked delicious (another table ordered it.)

Good food, good price, good service. We went to the restaurant and was very pleased about the warm welcome. The food was delicious, we ordered the Lasagna and Bolognese Penne, with a glass of of wine, desert and Tip for a total of 70 euro, which was very affordable compared to all the other restaurants that we have been in Amsterdam!

Very good food, however service leaves something to be desired. A young woman's table will be served much more quickly than you, my partner and I waited a long time and did not have everything we asked for after long periods of waiting!

We came for dinner, we entered, a waiter seated us and gave us a menu, we chose our dishes and we waited for 15 minutes for someone to take our order but no one came even though the waiters were chatting in front of us and an almost empty room. I called him several times and he pretended not to see us. So we decided to leave the restaurant.

The pancakes are absolutely excellent, perfectly cooked and well garnished. We returned several times during our stay. Service sometimes a little slow, but very good atmosphere

The bottom pancake was not tasty. Steak sandwich was very plain, without sauce and expensive for what you got. Chicken avocado sandwich was tasty.

They charge for access to the toilet, shameful! Toilet whose door does not close, no more toilet paper and no hand soap! Don't go there! Not nice servers!

Love the decor and comfort of this well located restaurant. Food was delicious with inviting options to choose from as well as great cocktails and wine choices. Happy to have found this venue on our stay in Amsterdam and look forward to going back again.

The service is very slow here, granted that it gets pretty busy around lunchtime. I had the avocado toast with poached eggs which was tasty and my partner had the chocolate pancakes which were good as well. Overall a good experience but be prepared to wait during peak hours.

If you are Italian and want a real coffee come here. The only café in Amsterdam that tastes like coffee, with Italian coffee doses!

My daughter and I stopped at the Gayo bar on a Sunday lunchtime. The weather was great so we sat at one of the many available outside tables. We choose a steak sandwich and fried squid, salad and fries. Both meals were quickly prepared and of very good quality at reasonable prices. The staff were very friendly. Recommended.

So its not cheap. But the atmosphere is nice and the service is great. I haven’t had any food so i cant say anything about that but to drink something at the evening its perfect!

Poor value for money! We had dinner at GAYO. Unfortunately the food didn't correspond to the price at all. The burger only consisted of meat, lettuce and a slice of tomato. And the Caesar salad was unfortunately only chicken, lettuce and egg. While the food wasn't necessarily bad, the price was way too high. According to the menu, the burger cost 16€ (without side dish), but on the bill it even cost 19€. Unfortunately, the additional cheddar we ordered for €1.50 didn't make it onto the burger. Unfortunately, the selection of dishes was also very limited. Service was friendly, but unfortunately inattentive. (Forgot sauce, cleared away too early)

Go on your way if you want to have your meal in this restaurant. We had lunch in this "so-called" restaurant. The different dishes ordered: brunch and Burger were infamous!! In addition, 1 waiter and 1 waitress were very unpleasant.

This restaurant is a joke. We was waiting 30 minutes for service. Then the food was dry and cold. My brother ordered a burger with fries. The fries comes when he ask for them and when he finished his burger. The same happens with other customers. Quality of food is not good. Looks good and taste like nothing.

We ate with four people and had to wait 45 minutes for our food. Unfortunately the food was not worth the wait. I had the burrata salad myself and for €14 I would have expected a little more to appear on the plate than a mini burrata and a few halves of mini tomatoes. All in all, the price-quality ratio is below par, the terrace itself is without atmosphere. Service did its best, there was little to complain about. Wouldn't eat there again.

Had to wait forever to get anything. We arrived at 2 and were going to the Anne Frank House at 4 so had plenty of time. In the end we had to rush as ot took sooooooo long. When we eventually got our food one member of the party got the wrong meal but we were so late couldn't even find the strength to complain. He staff were very apologetic but the food was not worth the wait and there wasn't even a free round of drinks given for the inconvenience.

The waiters are totally not friendly, we ordered fries and need to wait about almost an hour, at the end they were not coming and we asked one of their waiters and he aswered so rude. so we cancelled our order!

The staff is friendly except for 1 person. This person behaves as if you insulted him personally by ordering an extra drink. That he also misrepresents and shifts the blame to the customer. He then also takes half your drink with him when he comes to clear the table. Open, clean and nicely decorated restaurant. The food was dissapointing. If i would be forced to tell you what the lasagna tasted like, i would have to say it tasted like yesterday, and the burger was as basic as you can get. The staff is very friendly and helpfull except for 1 person. He acts like you insulted him personally by ordering another drink. He then gets the order wrong and tries to blame the customer. Then while clearing off the table he took away drinks that weren't even half empty.

The staff offered great alterations when I mentioned I'm gluten intolerant. I ordered risotto and scroppino and they were both delicious! Very nice ambiance (in Dutch I would say 'hip en gezellig'). The multicultural staff (Italian, Croatian/Greek, Russian) seemed to really enjoy themselves as well. I definitely recommend a visit for dinner here!

Best burger I’ve ever had. Went in late on a Sunday, just before closing, so v quiet, but honestly best food we ate while in Amsterdam. Chef came out for a chat and was a real Italian food enthusiast. My partner had Caesar salad which was also great

Wow the reviews for the pancakes were not lying. They are so good. Classic pancakes I choose. I did think gees 14 euro they better be good and yeah I'm happy to pay that. You will need to pay for water if you don't ask for tap. Coffee is good too. Pancakes did take a while to appear as I was the only one in or close to it. Anyway I would come back and try a different pancake for sure. Go for it, they will not let you down! Now how do I get to the airport...

We were here a year ago (it was then called Meneer Pannenkoek), so not entirely sure if the menu is the same. But our food was SO DELICIOUS that we visited twice (once before our cruise, and upon returning from our cruise). I really enjoyed the Egyptian pancake.

Nice place to stop in the shade under the trees at the side of the canal.. Quick service from the pleasant staff.

Overpriced tourist trap, had late lunch on a friday. Ordered a chicken burger, fries, Caesar salad and x2 soft drinks, total cost 50 Euro (that's £42). Chicken burger was't fresh, seemed like frozen deep fried, bun was stale and over toasted to hide the staleness. The Caesar salad chicken had a very odd taste. Fries were ok and seemed fresh, but fairly basic. Overall felt ripped off, was most expensive meal had the whole week in Amsterdam. Should of known better to avoid places in and around the Dam Square.

We expected to get pannekoeken (Dutch pancakes) based on the past reviews. However, we were disappointed because the new owners took over several months ago and they serve fluffy pancakes (not pannekoeken). The pancakes were still good and the place was lovely and servers were friendly.

Chicken avocado was decent. The waiter was nice, the waitress acted kinda mean tho. There was a layer of dust on the surface of the milk pot, I reported to the waitress while she reacted like I was being weird. Could have been patient and discerning, could have cleaned the pot thoroughly. Don’t recommend visiting.

Most of the menus in the comments are not up-to-date and have changed. It is useful to examine the recently added photos. The pancake was a little different from the classic, thicker and crispier, but the inside was cake-like. It was delicious. The employees are very polite.

So it's really a disgrace... Over 27€ for a hot chocolate that didn't taste good and 2 "children's" portions of poffertjes for which you charge an EXTRA 6€ of Nutella? So much money for something that didn't taste even remotely good. Go somewhere else and save your money. This can't be surpassed in terms of audacity.

Burgers and club sandwiches are grossly overpriced. Service takes a long time, you get the impression that you are being deliberately held back so that you consume more. Nice location but definitely a tourist trap. Not recommendable.
