Always struggle finding gluten free places, love to have found this! Great pancakes. So careful for gluten and lactose intolerants!

Hard to judge because pancakes itself are OK, but price is overpriced. Pancakes itself taste is avarage and it's nothing special. If they put little more for to decorate and add some better ingredients then the score could be higher. Coffees are alright and prices OK for what you get. If the half the price it's still would be overpriced... For a pancake in price of pizza I expect more.

I wouldn’t come here if I could find a bakery or breakfast spot that open early. The pancake was nice but expensive. If you are tourist, it is still worth trying.

Best pancakes I have ever tasted

The place is bright and well-located by the water. They have two menus, one of which is dedicated to vegans and those with gluten and lactose intolerances. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming...the pancakes are delicious and can be customized to suit different tastes.

Waiters and Waitresses were kind, a bit expensive (~17€ for a basic pancake), tables are quite small, also not a lot of space in the restaurant, food got delivered in no-time

These pancakes are amazing! If you eat one, you'll end up like Frodo and the Elven lancers... rolling around because you won't be able to walk very far. It's true they're expensive, but they're a great deal to try. If you're not very hungry or don't eat much, share one and if you want more, you can order another.

CELIAC PEOPLE PLEASE DON’T EAT HERE. I visited the place on Sunday 30th of December, late afternoon, close to their closing time, which eventually is absolutely not an excuse to what happened to me. The waitress took the order and I clearly asked for the pancake to be gluten free. I spent my whole evening and night vomiting, as most likely I was served of gluten pancakes. I found out this place from many website and social, so I trusted it, but I shouldn’t have. This place doesn’t take seriously this disease, so please if you have celiac disease, don’t eat here.

A quiet and cozy dining experience isn't possible, but the delicious food makes up for it. The portions are a decent size, and one pancake plus a drink will definitely fill you up. The prices feel a bit high (€15-20 for a pancake), but they're average for Amsterdam. The drink selection is limited; this could be improved. I'm deducting one star for the higher prices and the limited drink selection.

Offers a lot of options, from traditional Dutch pancakes to American-style ones, both sweet and savory. We shared the goat cheese and the caramel pancakes both were good without forgetting the hot chocolate😍 . The price is average and it’s worth trying. The only inconvenience was that we had to wait in a queue outside to get a table, and it was very cold.

To be honest, atmosfere is really nice but can’t tell the same for the taste of the pancakes. However apple crumble pancake was better than the other ones.

Terrible service. Waited over an hour for our food. Party of 4 and they brought one persons food 20 minutes before the other 3 people. By the time the rest of our food came our hot drinks had gone cold. Staff very smug and rude. Will never be back and advise everyone to avoid.

I was there with a friend last weekend and all my wallet was stolen INSIDE the restaurant. My passport, all cards and money: gone. My jacket was hanging on the chair while I was eating, but then all pockets from my jacket were opened. Such a dangerous place to be. I requested the secyrity images, and not a single support up until now. The employees were more concerned about closing the restuarant than calling the manager or providing support. Terrible customer service support, definitely never coming back again to this horrible restaurant or even this awful city!

I had a really disappointing experience at this pancake restaurant in Amsterdam. When we arrived, they told us to wait outside because it was full, and we ended up standing there for almost half an hour in the cold. Considering the high prices, I expected much better service. When we finally got inside, the door was left open the whole time, so it was freezing even indoors. The pancake I ordered with banana and some kind of chocolate flavor was also dry and honestly not very good. For what they charge, the quality was far below expectations. Overall, not worth the wait or the money. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Have been to Amsterdam so many times we did not have a chance to go to PANCAKES in Amsterdam but this time we finally have done it, but it disappointed us. Be honest, we like the coffee at PANCAKES, it tastes smooth and nice but Taking about The pancakes, it’s very average. It tastes like anywhere else in Amsterdam we have been. It doesn’t amaze or surprise us at all. I have to say this location of this PANCAKES store is very good, less five minutes walk from Amsterdam Centraal station, that’s why here is super busy. It look us about 25 minutes to get a table, maybe because of four of us, it’s easier to get a table or seat by the window if you are a couple. This place is not very big, it’s kind of small, I think the restaurant tries to put too many tables to get more customers. It’s not comfy to sit inside at all,not even mention to enjoy the pancakes. As we tried to use the sugar powder (poeder suiker) on the table, it’s very standard topping with Dutch pancakes, then we have found out the sugar powder inside is like rock hard when you try to shake it and you will feel it. We have no idea how long this has been on the table. We even tried to use the one from next table, it is the same. I think this is a very important part of Dutch pancakes experience, but this really disappoints us. Really disappointing. Finally we have to mention this. We did not realise the staff even put 10% tips on the bills without asking till we left the restaurant and asked the person to pay the bill. It’s very disrespectful and disgraceful. I have not been to any other branches of PANCAKES, but I will not recommend this one personally.

A medium-sized carafe for €3.90. Frankly, it's outrageous to charge that much for tap water. As for the meal itself, I'm still looking for the cheese on our plates, which is a shame for a country that prides itself on it. Personally, the few spinach leaves in the dish were tasteless, and the fried egg in the center was tiny… luckily, the pancake was very fluffy, so that made up for the lack of flavor somewhat.

In general, the pancakes are very large and delicious. The restaurant is good. However, be careful when you get the bill. They overcharged us, and we paid the bill. It was over 3,000 MXN. When we left, we checked the bill because the amount was too much for four people, and we realized there were items on it that we hadn't ordered. Even the night before, when we had hamburgers, the bill didn't exceed that amount. This is the only place we visited in all the countries where the bill was that high. We went back to the restaurant, and the woman who served us gave us a refund. However, we were still left wondering about the items on the bill. The service at this place was very cold towards foreigners. I don't know if it was an accident or discriminatory. I wouldn't go back! *Check the bill before leaving the place. We went, and they added more pancakes than we had eaten. They gave us some money back, but it was still a bad experience. I wouldn't recommend this place to foreigners.

We were recommended this chain and since we lived quite close by we chose to have breakfast here. We might have had a bit too high expectations based on the recommendation and the queue we stood in to get in. The food was very ordinary, a lightly fried flat pancake with three pieces of ham/bacon on it and some cheese. For 16€ per pancake we would have expected something a little different and maybe simply better. Nice staff and decor, but expensive and definitely not worth queuing for a long time. Maybe the sweet varieties are better, but we didn't dare try :)

I came here the first time I came to Amsterdam about 4-5 years ago and I fell in love with this place and how delicious the food was. Now I am back in Amsterdam and thought to visit this place again for good pancakes but unfortunately I ended up ruining a nice memory. The place is completely changed in perspective to quality of the food (even though the price has gone up and they charge for everything) and the friendliness of the service is not the same. It ended up sadly being the one stop I regretted doing on this trip in this city. Pro tip, if you do come here don’t order the chocolate sauce as it’s the cheapest tasting chocolate I’ve had (which they charge 4€ extra for) I had to scoop it out of my pancake.

So we settled for tea, a cappuccino, and tap water for 3.90 euros, and crepes for almost 20 euros. I'm happy for tourists to support the businesses, but we don't want a share in the restaurant chain. Disappointed 😞

We are disappointed we arrived at 4:30 p.m. and the kitchen was already closed so no pancakes. We took water which was charged 3.90 for our daughter and without the possibility of taking the bottle since it is a stamped glass bottle and probably tap water because it is not sealed. 12.15 euros for a tea and a cappuccino and tap water.

Super expensive yet the food was average and you can see the bacon is completely overcooked. Worst part is the staff are really rude. I queued first but completely ignored me and proceed to welcome to next white couple queuing behind me. After I mentioned I was before them, she just said “Oh then come in and sit there” as she point at the corner without looking at me at all. After that she proceed to brought the white couple to their seat and chitchat a little bit while I got the cold bench. Felt super racist maybe just because I am Asian. I arrived about 30 minutes after opening on a Saturday. About 80% of the seats were taken. I chose an available seat and ordered there. For pancakes, I ordered number 17: spinach, cheese, and fried egg. I wanted to add bacon, so I pointed to the "TIP: ADD BACON" menu and said "bacon," but unfortunately, my poor pronunciation didn't help and I couldn't add it. (TT) The pancakes were delicious! The friendly waiter even gave me a wooden clog keychain, which I was happy about!

The staffs were friendly and helpful with the pancakes selection. I ordered a plain Dutch pancake with powdered sugar and choc sauce. It is situated near the canal so it has a nice view outside the window (you can sit outdoor too).

We had very delicious pancakes. My favorite was the cheese and apple ones. They were huge and delicious. The place was quite crowded, we were lucky to get a table almost immediately.

A coffee option with pancakes while waiting to enter the Anne Frank House. We arrived very early and came for coffee. We ordered the "homemade apple crumble" pancake (16.30 euros) and it comes on a full plate. It's sweetened with brown sugar and isn't too sweet. I also ordered a fruit smoothie, which was very good, although not iced. The cappuccino was okay. The service is excellent. The acoustics aren't great, so it's not a good place for long conversations. I recommend it.

We came here mainly because of the queue outside, which is usually a good indicator of telling if something is any good! It took us about 30 minutes to get in and seated, which wasn’t too bad. The first problem for me was the menu you see when queuing outside doesn’t match the one you’re given when you’re seated - e.g. no mention of strawberries anywhere on the actual menus used to order. The food was quick in coming but if these are the best pancakes Amsterdam has to offer, their pancake game clearly isn’t any good. The pancakes were dry and the Ingredients (bananas etc) didn’t appear to be of good quality. Overall, my girlfriend does better pancakes at home. The other issue was the way the Ben and Jerry’s ice cream is served - in the small tub it comes in rather than on the pancake. I can only assume in the past they’ve been accused that the ice cream they’re serving is a lesser brand and this saves that hassle; however, I don’t want to have to fight to get ice cream out of a frozen tub before I can eat my pancakes! Overall, average at best and not worth what they’re charging.

I came here really excited to try authentic Dutch pancakes, but unfortunately my experience was very disappointing. I waited for about 50 minutes at my table, only to realize that my order had never even been registered . I had to ask the staff to check, and that’s when they noticed my order wasn’t in the system at all. I was really looking forward to the pancakes, but instead I ended up leaving hungry and frustrated because I couldn’t afford to wait even longer for a new order to be prepared. I understand mistakes happen, but for a restaurant this popular, I expected more care and attention. Sadly, I left with a very negative impression.

I ate at two branches on my trip to Amsterdam in early September 2025. I was really impressed by the extensive amount of dishes, and the fact that they offered a gluten free pancake. I booked a table at their across the street from Amsterdam Centraal station for the Saturday morning, which is a little bigger than the first branch I ate at that is behind the station, closer to the waterfront. I’d recommend booking if you’re visiting on a weekend. I had one of the more simple pancakes, with bacon and cheese, at both branches that I visited. They do huge portions.
