Small & intimate spot. Had pizza & tagliatelle bolognese and it was so good I came back again 2 nights later. Service was slower but you can't rush perfection.

Best Pizza outside of Italy. 🇮🇹 Family owned they are kind and helpful. Owner does not mean to but can come off as harsh. You have to be patient as he tries to decipher your needs, you can see Italian is his first language. Whenever I am Amsterdam I never miss a visit here. Top marks for excellent food and service. You don't need to go to Italy for authentic food. Its here in Amsterdam!

The pizza was disappointing, unfortunately. The vegetarian pizza (€16.90) resembled a simple margherita, without zucchini or eggplant. Furthermore, the owner isn't very friendly and doesn't seem to speak Dutch. There's no "bon appétit" to it. It's a shame, because I love Italy and good pizza... but I won't be back.

We bought mozzarella on November 12, 2025 for €12.50. The owner went to the back with the bag...when we got home, it turned out the sell-by date was November 5. What a scammer! Check your purchases! The food is magnificent, been eating all over Amsterdam for two weeks and by far this is the best meal I've had the entire trip. The location was a recommendation, and let me say if you are in the area enjoy a delicious meal, there are only two tables but it's worth it. There is also a small shop, if you need something to cook with, everything here is a quality ingredient. If I lived nearby I'd be a regular, that's all I can say.

What a delightful find! Tucked away in central Amsterdam a genuine Italian eatery. Just two small tables and all food cooked fresh by the Italian owner chef! He also chose the perfect wine to accompany our meal. Food was delicious and prices very reasonable. 10/10 🍷

Che buono! What a hidden gem... doesn't look like much in the photos but if you want an authentic Italian experience in a quirky but charming atmosphere, this place is for you 😁 The restaurant seats only 2 tables which makes it feel very homely - like eating with nonno! The food was literally some of the best Italian I've had outside of Italy and the bottle of wine we shared on the owner's recommendation was 10/10! The pastas were al dente and tasted so fresh and the calzone was huge, delicious, and cooked to perfection! Especially recommend the funghi e tartufo. Not only that, but my fiancè and I are studying Italian and spoke to the owner in extremely broken Italian all evening. He was so kind, patient, and friendly! We cannot recommend highly enough 🥰 I noticed that some other reviews flag that the owner seems a bit standoffish, but he was honestly so warm and welcoming it's hard for me to imagine the service issues noted by other patrons were much more than a language barrier - he doesn't speak much English or Dutch. Authentic italian food in a small italian supermarket. The owner cooks himself. It was very delicious!

Was looking for Italian ingredients as a Neapolitan pizzaiolo, but the guy was standing over me the whole time, not speaking, and when I asked a question, he replied late with copy-paste–type answers. Felt like a “get out” kind of attitude. Still, I managed to get my farina and some snacks. If there’s no other open store within 5 km, it’s worth a visit — but only for the products, not the service.

The owner, often present in the shop and looking frustrated about 90% of the time, comes across as a bit unsettling. As far as I can tell, he speaks neither Dutch nor English, and unless you’re about to spend a small fortune very quickly, there’s a good chance he’ll shout something (unpleasant) in Italian.

Such an incredible experience from the authentic Italian food to the personality of the shop owner- what a memorable experience. I had the delicious carbonara. HIGHLY recommended. This place is SUCH a gem.

The spaghetti alla Carbonara is perfect. Simple but definitely tasty with real guanciale (pig jowl) exactly as it should be served! Tartufi al pistacchio (pistacchio ice cream) is highly recommended. You don't have to go there for the atmosphere because it is actually a shop where you eat. Although you see this more often in Italy. Do you want to taste even more traditional delicacies, dishes and snacks from Italy? Then come to Peperoncino! A traditional Italian specialty store where you are served with patience and with soul by a traditional seller from Calabria!

I ordered a pizza that I have always ordered there as a regular customer, the way the owner/chef instructed me on my first visit. (Because the owner/cook does not speak Dutch or English well, I agreed with him in the past which pizza I could order vegan and what I should call that pizza. That's how I always order from him). But today he gave a different pizza and pointed out that I named it wrong. While as always I called it by the name given to me when I first ordered. But today it went wrong and I was blamed for it. So money lost and no food. Very unfortunate how the problem was not resolved. As of today, I am no longer a customer here, while I used to be a very regular customer here. It was very customer unfriendly and I lost my money. Response to owner's comment: I'm not a liar. I was indeed a regular customer. There was not a word of a lie in my review. As usual, the gentleman was customer unfriendly when I entered the business. The gentleman does not speak a word of Dutch, so misunderstandings can quickly arise. I was a very regular customer here and will never spend a cent here again.

Seriously the best pizza place in Amsterdam, I had a margarita pizza and I have never eaten such a rich pizza. The best man is incredibly friendly and the restaurant has a real authentic atmosphere. I often come here for pasta and the like, but now for the first time I had a pizza, I took a photo when it was almost gone because it was so tasty. I would recommend it to everyone.

After the household fair we went looking for some pizza. Arrived at this tent where we received a very warm welcome. A very friendly man who told us everything with a lot of love and passion. And of course the most important thing! Very tasty pizzas with fresh ingredients that were cut on the spot. Delicious wine and a delicious liqueur brewed afterwards by his family in Italy. Very cool place, really a hidden gem in Amsterdam.

It was an unexpectedly wonderful experience. We were there with a large group, 11 people, but that was no problem. A chair was immediately grabbed from behind. The host was a pleasant Italian who hardly spoke Dutch or English, but with our limited Italian we still got a long way. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the hospitality of the owner. Be sure to ask about his favorite pizza and you'll see him beaming. I will definitely come back again!

We visited this store for the first time today. We didn’t do anything wrong. While we were browsing and deciding on a purchase, the Italian shop owner suddenly yelled at us for no reason. His behavior was extremely rude! It was so uncomfortable that we decided to leave immediately. We will never go to this store again! UPDATE based on the shop owner response: Okay, sir. Based on your response, I assume you would like me to share our experience in more detail. We spent no more than five minutes in your store. First, you told us that we couldn’t touch anything. We respected that. Despite your unwelcoming attitude from the start, my friend and I were genuinely trying to make a purchase. Each of us planned to buy several items. Then, you approached us again, being even ruder than before. At that point, my friend decided she no longer wanted to stay, and we both left. If you believe this is the right way to treat customers, then good luck with your business.

Pizza is super tasty, the best in Amsterdam. And the owner is very friendly. My favorite pizza spot. They also have delicious Italian products.

A local secret for you: this is the best Italian pizza of Amsterdam, this is the real deal. Owner is Italian, very nice and a fantastic chef. A small family owned restaurant serving authentic pizza, you’ll taste the difference. Word of advice: hone your Italian language skills, that’s the only language the owner speaks. Yes, it’s that authentic. If you want s better pizza, you’ll have to take a plane to Italy and search there, snd even then, good luck. . Or you can just go to Peperoncino and enjoy. Pro tip: after your dinner, look at the shelves for Italian products to take home. And ask for a tiramissu for dessert while you’re making your choice.

It’s a horrible shop! Don’t even think of buying anything from there!! The Italian shop owner is crazy!! We went to get something and didn’t do anything wrong. We were toward to pay, but he yelled at us for no reason! He was very rude and impolite. We didn’t buy anything and left the store. We never purchase anything from this shop, not even get in the store!

One of the best pizzas I’ve ever eaten, maybe the best. The crust is soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. The bottom is crispy and thin, covered with A+ quality ingredients. Definitely the best pizza I’ve eaten in Amsterdam.

This is a very small place with only 5 or 6 tables, but the San Bruno pizza is the best, most savory pizza I’ve ever eaten outside of Italy! The chef owner does everything so don’t be in a hurry. The ingredients are authentic from Italy-absolutely delicious! Recommend trying one of their genuine Italian sodas in a bottle too.

Ask price in advance. I felt like having a really tasty Italian sandwich, but no help came for inspiration. So it became 31 euros! for the simplest ham-cheese sandwich (ketchup was spread in between - really nasty) + 3 small takaway eggplant lasagna. It was a shock after paying with the debit card.. had to wait almost 45 minutes for the sandwich. Too bad I was really hoping for a delicious sandwich, that's what the place with delicious food looks like... unfortunately it felt very uncomfortable... the lasagna in very large chunks of eggplant. Unfortunately.

Small place which looks a bit random but delicious pizza. The products they use to make the pizzas are really tasty. So highly recommended if you want a good pizza (wither for take away either to eat in and do not mind the look of the place which is a mix of a shop and reataurant).

Really good quality pizza! Especially loved the Calzone with ‘Nduja and the 5 formaggi. The place is a restaurant and small supermarket in one. Amazing to pick up some Italian products while you are waiting for your order. There are a few tables to eat inside, but it is also great for pick-up. Definitely coming back here, and try other menu items.

Real Pizza! Looked more like a supermarket but I saw the pizza menu and thought I'd try it. Got a diavola and margherita to go. I was going to eat at home but it was fresh and hot and smelled so good... so I took a slice of diavola before getting in my car. It was so tasty I ended up eating the whole thing right there. Only the margherita made it home,.. Will definitely be back!

Was für ein tolles Fundstück. Eines der besten Pizzen die ich je hatte. Top Weine, Inhaber sind super sympathisch und einladend. Seid gewarnt: die scharfen Sachen sind wirklich scharf. Aber auch das finde ich sehr gut. Ich freue mich schon drauf hier irgendwann wieder sein zu dürfen.

Pizzas ricas a buen precio. Es un sitio pequeño, más pensado para comida para llevar. También disponen de unas mesitas y, de hecho, nosotros cenamos allí. El trato es muy agradable y las pizzas estaban bastante buenas. Recomendable si estás por la zona.

We would see the chef of Peperoncino toss the pizza dough, as we looked at the bustle of the Maasstraat from the window of the apartment of a good friend. Tonight we felt like a pizza and went in and ordered. We had a back and forth in part Italian, English and Dutch, and the chef pointed out the ‘cipolla’ and tuna of our pizza of choice - they sell the ingredients, imported from Italy, as well. Then he proceeded to make our pizza on the spot. We sat down on a little bench. The sounds of an Italian kids program came through from a back room. After a few minutes we brought a wonderfully crisp and fresh pizza home - one of the best I tasted. We will be back.

Wonderful and authentic pizza in the Maasstraat. All Italian ingredients -- the owner/chef was happy to show us the onions, tuna and oregano he uses, amongst other ingredients. We came away with the best tuna and onion pie in Amsterdam and a bottle of Sicilian olive oil. Highly recommended!!
