A wonderful discovery! This restaurant offers a perfect blend of intimate dining and a local spot for after-work beers. The menu is simple, but the food is excellent.

Such a cute, beautiful and welcoming place. From the outside and the look of the place, we were expecting it to be super expensive but what we found was a down to earth restaurant/ cafe with lovely staff and delicious, reasonably priced food.

We received a very warm welcome – the staff were friendly and attentive. Our request for a free table for four was responded to immediately, and everything was organized quickly. The restaurant is pleasantly quiet, ideal for relaxing. The food was excellent – the steak was particularly top-notch, and the burger was simply delicious. Highly recommended!

We too, walked away from Winkles, didn't like having to sit with other people while dining. PEQU was amazing. My wife and I had Open faced sandwiches, of Salmon, and my wife's roast beef. the food was amazing. (My wife would not let me have seconds). Far better choice, of eaters' We highly recommend PEQU, for a truly amazing meal

July 12, 2025. Surprisingly, there was still room; we had a truly wonderful evening. The steak, fries, and salad were excellent. The service was excellent, and the owners are incredibly friendly and approachable. They're the kind of people you'd want to visit. Discover this gem in the Jordaan neighborhood at Noordermarkt.

Such a lovely place with incredibly friendly and attentive staff! They pay so much attention to details, smile and just make it feel like home. Bravo! The food was delicious (tuna sandwich), enjoyed the feeling of fresh tuna. Coffee is great too. Thank you! I will be coming again!

Very nice little restaurant. The croque monsieur is very good, but a green salad would be much appreciated. The lemon meringue pie is very generous and the chocolate cake is very delicious. Small drawback: the terrace is shared with the restaurant next door, and many people make the wrong choice and leave their table. Not very respectful of the Pequ and a nuisance for those who have chosen to have lunch there. Be careful where you sit; this restaurant is worth staying there 😉.

Best kept secret of the Jordaan

Was pretty bad experience overall. Told us to sit outside even though there was tables inside ..ok maybe they were reserved on a Wednesday at 6 .. Was 4 of us we order 1 burger (medium) came out well done, and 3 steak frittes 2 med rare well under med rare hard medium whatever fine, 1 medium was closer to med well almost no pink in it . They brought dishes as they were getting done, got the first two steaks then 8 minutes passed and we had to ask if the other food was coming out. Was about 10 minutes before the rest of the food made it to the table. Then asked for salt vlbecause the steak was not seasoned at all, we received the salt when I had 4 slices of the steak left . But here is the turning point that was just not making sense .. 3 steak frittes we received 2 sides, we asked if we would get the 3rd sides and the waiter said if you want more we will bring more .. ok so 3 people 2 sides .. we finished and asked for more , 15 minutes later we got more fries... Finally we were fed up and asked for the check... They charged for the extra side lol what a joke. We then asked why we order 3 steak frittes and got charged for extra fries and salad .. 10 euro is not a lot but it was the principle. Went to get another server and he said oh we combined the two but all the bowls were the same exact size .. then he said yea it's a question that comes up a lot ... Maybe give out 3 sides with 3 entree ?! Waste of money bill was 140 euro go somewhere else plenty of better restaurants in Amsterdam.

We walked in here because the line at Winkel next door was long. It was the first stop on our trip! The staff was so welcoming, despite us being tired, fresh off the plane Americans. The tuna toast was one of my favorite meals of all time. And the mushroom soup was light and refreshing! It was so good we had to go back for our last meal before we left Amsterdam.

The croque monsieur was good, but the service was appalling. The blonde waitress was rude and rushed us, even though we had only been there for two minutes.

We were a large group of 11, arrived later than the reserved time (we reported it) but no problem. Delicious food, good attentive service, everything came at the same time. In short, highly recommended! We will definitely come back.

This was the worst experience. I came to the restaurant on the recommendation of friends, hoping to have a lovely lunch with my son. But everything went wrong from the start. After placing our order, my son and I stepped outside for 5–10 minutes to get some fresh air while waiting for the food. When we returned, we were told we had to place the order all over again. Then, we waited an extremely long time for our food. I had specifically asked for the cheeseburger without tomato, but my request was ignored and it arrived with tomato. They took it back and brought another one — this time without tomato, but completely cold. At that point, I had lost all appetite, and unfortunately, the staff did absolutely nothing to make up for the situation. I had to refuse the cold cheeseburger, yet still had to pay for the entire meal. And to top it all off, when I was leaving and took my paid-for Coca-Cola in a glass bottle, I was told to pour it into a plastic cup. I guess that was the restaurant’s idea of a “complimentary gesture” for the ruined lunch. There was no apology, no gesture of goodwill — just poor service and a ruined lunch. Not recommended.

Great terrace in the middle of the square. I would definitely come back for a drink outside as the weather gets better. The food is okay but not excellent. The meat was a bit tough but the muscles were quite nice.

Service was very slow. Burguer came with less than 20 fries, and these were cold. Quality of the Burguer was mediocre.

I loved this place in Amsterdam to eat! Excellent service, all of them women, and very elaborate and flavorful toasts, you can see the love. Their croquettes were the best of all those I tried in Amsterdam, very silky and tasty. We sat at one of the tables outside and it was a super sunny day. Memorable and highly recommended!

In the cafe shop everyone is so nice and friendly. We had two cup of coffee and that was very tasty. Toilet is also very clean. I highly recommend the place 🌸

We were a large group of 13. We had to indicate in advance by email what we wanted to eat (due to supplies). The service was very good, the food was fantastic. The dishes all arrived at the same time, which was perfectly arranged. Service was great! Sometimes they had a chat or laughed along. So, overall very good. Really recommended.

I’ve been struggling a bit to find good food for a special occasion in Amsterdam during the two years we’ve been living in the Netherlands. But this place was a spontaneous find and surprised us a lot! Excellent service, a very charming atmosphere, and amazing food—it was truly a gastronomical pleasure. I can’t recommend it enough!

After experiencing a stunning light and sound show at the Noorderkerk in the Jordaan, I stopped for lunch just around the corner from the church. The restaurant had a trendy, inviting interior with comfortable seating and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. The menu included an "All Day" selection of dishes available throughout the day, as well as options served at specific times. I opted for a simple yet flavorful dish: melted cheese with bread and vegetables for dipping—a truly heavenly choice. For dessert, I tried the carrot cake, which was equally delicious. Portion sizes were perfect—not too large, just right. I can highly recommend this spot, especially if you’re visiting on a Saturday during the famous Noordermarkt. I will certainly visit again in the future.

Parada aquí después de un paseo por el mercado de agricultores de sábado cercano. Lugar muy agradable con personal atento de espera. Pedí la meseta Pequ para el almuerzo, que era delicioso y tenía una variedad más amplia de artículos, incluyendo paté makerel, jamón, paté, queso, pan, aceitunas, nueces y una mermelada de arándano. Perfecto para aquellos que han tenido apetito durante la mañana.

Super cool, relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The staff are GREAT! The food was delicious! Gluten free bread for sandiwiches is available by request, although it is not noted on the menus, so don't be afraid to stop by if you are Celiac.

Pasamos por este lugar fresco después de visitar el mercado del sábado que estaba sucediendo fuera de las puertas principales. Al lado tenía una fila enorme y bueno para ellos, pero esa gente estaba perdiendo porque la comida aquí era genial! El personal de servicio era muy amable y divertido. Teníamos café con leche y sándwiches, que tenían un precio razonable para una gran ciudad. Tenía el Muhammara con granada, nueces y rucola y estaba absolutamente delicioso. Estaba tan feliz. Muy recomendable!

A nice steak fries and a cheese burger of very good quality. Well prepared. Attentive, calm service from 2. The lady did her utmost to learn Dutch. As a starter, oysters with raspberry vinegar and chopped shallot. The spoon was missing, not really useful. Carafe of tap water and a fine rose. Terrace is on Westerstraat. It was annoying that staff from the adjacent restaurant Winkel 43 were constantly coming to pick up full crates and drinks and return empty ones to a storage area behind our table. Even without saying "sorry" once. Other than that, the price/quality is absolutely reasonable. You don't find much in Amsterdam anymore.

Nice restaurant. Tried the steak. The beef quality is great. Tender juicy (medium rare). Side dish salad and fries are also awesome. Tried non alcoholic IPA playground, taste almost the same like a real IPA 😋. Very satisfying meal for a tired tourist.

We came for a drink and to watch Holland play Turkey in the Euros. We were blown away by the kindness of the bartender and patrons while interacting and including our kids in the fun. What a beautiful vibe and place to happen upon. Thank you for making our night!

Found this place by accident (okay also based on many Google reviews). We were hungry so we didn't let the phones eat first. The steak tartare,and the steak frites were both beautifully done. My steak frites which I asked for medium rare was cooked amazingly with its doneness spread evenly. The frites and salad accompanying completed the whole dining experience. Service was friendly and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

We were lucky that there was a long line to get into Winkel. Pequ was outstanding and we didn't have to wait. The service was imprcable and the food spectacular! Fully recomended!

I ordered panna cotta strawberry mint crumble, portion was way too small, and sorry, but I can't call that crumble (theoretically, it is, but very bad one).

The best dine in experience in Amsterdam! We were served by Anna who was lovely and the food is so fresh and tastes amazing! Beef tartare was so fresh, definitely recommend this place!

As Italians, we struggled to find a restaurant which wasn't Italian, or that served only burgers, that was not overcrowded and most of all that looked inviting. We found it at PEQU! Good food, good service, nice context, reasonable prices. Very recommended.

Wish I could give this place a better review but waiting for more than an hour on food with no explanation whatsoever is a bit too much. We asked multiple times for an update but nothing. No explanation, no comp, no apology, nothing. There was one server that did apologize at the end and help us get out food. But nothing could have made the night better after waiting that long

After a long walk through Amsterdam and stumbling upon some full cafes, we finally landed at PEQU!! And lemme tell you, we were very pleased to discover that it was calm inside. In addition, the staff was "des amours<3" and we really enjoyed our selection of food. We went for 4 different dishes for 2 people and portion wise, that was perfect. We highly recommend going to PEQU, definitely worth a visit!!

de Cote de Boeuf was erg goed! Precies op gaarheid zoals we 'm wilde! Personeel was erg betrokken; bij de bestelde wijn, kwamen ze langs met 2 flessen omdat ze zich afvroegen of wat we hadden besteld wel zou voldoen aan onze verwachtingen. Vrijdag avond was gezellig, niet overcrowded en personeel had toch tijd voor iedereen!

Op zaterdag 16 september hadden wij gereserveerd bij Pequ. Hoe is ons dat bevallen? Eigenlijk heel erg plezierig. De bediening, een Italiaanse dame en Charlotte, zijn top; gastvrij, los uit de pols, attent en erg vriendelijk. De gerechten waren erg smakelijk en dat gold evenzo voor de wijn. Komen wij terug? Tuurlijk.

Nous avons passé un excellent repas et le service était très rapide. Terrasse sur la place.
