Such a unique experience celebrating fish. From the fish market to the wine market then onto our table the journey meant we had expert guidance from display to plate. We enjoyed oysters, scallops, prawns and the main event of brill with aubergine and fries as sides. All were impeccably presented and tasted insane. We also loved hearing about the fish and wine and the sustainability Pesca is working towards. Very comfortable with the bill total which I felt was exceptional value for money. If there are more pescas the world would be a better place.

Delicious food, friendly service.

One of the waiters, while trying to clean the table, accidentally spilled half a beer on my friend, soaking his trousers. Apart from a cheap apology, no further action was taken. I wonder, when he informed the manager, did they tell him to do absolutely nothing? Ironically, the same employee was at the till when it came time to pay. We asked him to split the bill in two, but when one of us tapped to pay, we realized he charged the entire bill to that person. It’s a shame because this is the second time we’ve visited this place in about a year. The first time, apart from not having any such mishaps, the service made you feel special. In fact, I had even posted a five-star review then. Unfortunately, this time, the experience felt like visiting a franchise chain restaurant.

Visited Pesca this evening and had an excellent meal and followed be good service and conversation from our waiter, but very disappointed that each table beside us that arrived after were offered sweet and/or coffee but absolutely no sign of our waiter after serving the meal and asking our comments. So no tip

This was our 6th time at Pesca and this is definitely our favourite. The concept, the taste, the service... Pesca is not just a restaurant, Pesca is an experience. I'm already looking forward to the 7th time! Top.

Great food and fun concept. Buzzing and full makes it a little noisy and the service is very good but the concept makes food come when it comes. And you always tend to overorder at the food buffet.

First of all, this whole “FISH MARKET” concept is nothing groundbreaking. Ordering fresh seafood directly isn’t exactly a novel idea—it’s done all over the world, from Italy to Asia. But fine, let’s talk about the experience. We ordered sashimi, about 40 shells, a king crab leg, and halibut. The service? Painfully slow. You present the ingredients in front of the customer to emphasize freshness, right? Then how do you explain 80% of the shells being full of sand? On top of that, two were dead and didn’t open. Why would you even serve those? The king crab leg was unpleasantly fishy, and the halibut? Just okay—not enough to save the meal. We raised our concerns with the waiter—no response. Brought it up again at checkout—still no response. The sand, the bad crab, and the lack of basic customer care? Those are real issues, not opinions. Step it up. Fresh ingredients deserve better treatment—and so do your customers!

Great food: sea bream with verdejo starter, brill with eggplant as a main course with sauvignon. Good explanation of the working method and a skilled sommelier, excellent service, but in the end it took a lot of effort to attract the attention of the staff. The long tables create a casual atmosphere. Shame about the loud, overbearing music.

Very nice fish restaurant with good concept: you pick your fish from the market and it will be nicely cooked for you. You can decide the cooking style : raw, grilled, fried... Very good choice. We had a perfectly grilled sea bar, tasty and crunchy. We also had scallops. They were nice and fresh byt came with a cold sweet sauce and were quickly cold so it was a bit of a pity. Nice service and warm industrial environment. Very good mashed potatoes and aubergines.

First thing to say is that the food is excellent, the atmosphere and experience is fun and the staff were all lovely. However, there were a few issues - the restaurant was very busy and we had to wait at various times (fish market queue, wine market queue, long time for the food to arrive). We were relaxed and patient and it didn't spoil our experience, but I imagine it could in other circumstances. The ratio of staff, space and time was almost at the limit - maybe the management need to limit the bookings and walk-up. The four stars for service is only because they were overstretched. But back to the positives... A lovely greeting and lots of help from the very attentive, smiling, young crew. The food and wine far exceeded our expectations. Really delicious, fresh and cooked to perfection. The basic idea is that you're dining in a market, you choose the fish at the fish display, then choose the very good wine in the wine shop (which you take to the table yourself), then the food arrives. There's a little less say in how the fish is cooked than the marketing for the restaurant suggests, but that didn't matter. The dining room itself is busy, buzzy, noisy, fun and market-like - you'll find yourself speaking loudly. This is not an intimate restaurant, it's a 'dining experience' that verges on gastro theme-park but the food, wine and staff are all great.

A place with a fun formula, you can choose the fish directly from the counter, the same goes for the wine. The food was all good, the place was perhaps slightly noisy as it was a single, very large room. Excellent value for money.

A good luxury to treat yourself to in Amsterdam. Aside from the original concept, the service gave us exquisite treatment, explaining everything we asked with great patience and affection. We ate oysters, tuna ceviche, mussels and monkfish and I couldn't say which we liked more. All incredible flavor, quality and presentation. They also had a good selection of wines to pair with. While it is true that the price is high, it is well worth paying. Congratulations.

"Theatre of fish" - there is no better way to describe this restaurant. And fish actually plays the main role here. The presentation of the "main actors" when entering the restaurant is a feast for the eyes. The concept is unusual: to put together your own personal theater performance, sorry, menu, based only on the basic ingredients and leave the rest to the extremely talented kitchen. The subsequent walk through the "wine cellar" increases the anticipation of what is to come. After asking about the fish you have chosen, the appropriate wines from the truly excellent selection are recommended by the talented staff. You then take what you have chosen in a wine cooler to your table in the cozy restaurant. It was jam-packed at the time of my visit, but the service was attentive, friendly and quick at all times. I spent an extraordinary evening there in every respect. If you put together a menu with several courses and enjoy a good bottle of wine with it, you might pay a little more than in other fish restaurants. But the concept, the quality and the overall experience are worth every euro.

One of my favourite meals of 2024. Such a fun and unique concept that doesn’t rest of gimmick. Each dish was distinctive and delicious and the service was excellent. Unfortunately I did have my wallet stolen out of my coat, so watch out for thieves and keep your valuables close. 5 star for food though!

Yesterday we spent an evening at Pesca (Amsterdam), a restaurant that has always been known for its cozy atmosphere and unique concept. While the experience was generally positive, there are a few areas where improvement could be made. Plus points The welcome was pleasant and the concept was clearly explained. The idea of ​​walking past the wine bar and ordering drinks yourself is fun and interactive. The food came to our table quickly, which was nice because we didn't have to wait long between courses. The atmosphere in the restaurant is, as always, inviting and lively. Points for improvement However, there were some issues that deserve some attention. At the wine bar the cocktails were not named or explained, which was a shame. Only when we received the dessert menu did we see that cocktails were available. It would be nice if this was mentioned immediately with the drinks order, so that we were aware of this. In addition, the serving of our dishes went wrong twice. Instead of being taken to our table (111, a high corner table), they were taken to the table next to us (112). Although we could laugh about this, it is something that should not happen. Conclusion Despite the minor inconveniences, we enjoyed our visit and the delicious food. Pesca remains a nice place to eat out, and we will definitely come back. A few minor adjustments in operation and communication would make the experience absolutely perfect.

The best food we have had in a long time. We tried the lobster, scallops and shrimps. They were expertly seasoned with a unique blend of spices. We ordered sides of roasted red cabbage, aubergine and mashed potato which were incredibly tasty. I wouldn’t be surprised if this place is awarded a Michelin star restaurant in the near future.

I’m a fan of the concept. Service is fast and the team seems to know their products really well. However, the place is fairly expensive in my opinion. Dishes are tasty but nothing spectacular. Starters were better than mains.

Had a super fun and tasty lunch here. This place is definitely recommended for anyone who is a fan of fish and seafood. The concept is truly an experience, where you put together your own sharing menu "at the market" and then choose a nice pairing at the wine market. We will definitely come back here.

One of the best restaurants I have visited so far. Great concept, from entering the restaurant to leaving it was simply a dream. We will stop at this restaurant again the next time we visit Amsterdam.

Nice concept but a bit chaotic! We were 5 and definitely didnt order enough food. I think the guy at the fish market could have explained it better. We were a bit many to be walking around choosing the fish and wine! Scallops were delicious! Sides were nice too. Dessert (cheese cake) was tasty. Waiters were friendly but not very attentive. I might come back but not in a huge hurry.

One of Amsterdam's special places, a must try if you like seafood. I've been here multiple times over the last few years, and each time it's as good as the last. Highest quality seafood, great advice from the staff and a wonderful wine selection (def try the Chateau Musar (red), it's a superb Lebanese blend). Understated but chic ambiance. Great service. Come hungry try a little of everything. Especially the soft shell crab and the whole red snapper. Monk fish is always awesome.

Upon entering it really looked like a theater with heavy red velvet curtains. The entrance is nicer than the location in Rotterdam. Inside it is much smaller than expected and the layout of "the theater of fish" is also narrower. But with the same menu with rotating letters. I was allowed to take a seat at the bar to wait for my friends. After we were complete, the four of us could continue to choose our dishes. We were kindly helped by a young man. After my experience in Rotterdam I knew it was better to choose several starters. Once at the table, we shared a very long table with several groups, which was quite cramped. There is nowhere to put your bag. We started with the oysters, salmon, hamachi and bread. The butter with the bread was lightly whipped with furikake. The oysters were very tasty. The salmon itself was tasty but the sauce itself was bland. The hamachi was fine, served with tomasu soy sauce and a mountain of furikake and cucumber. The second course we got the octopus with mole and chimichuri, softshell crab and calamari with aioli. I really liked the calamari in Rotterdam, but here they were not fluffy crispy but in a soggy jacket... probably fried in oil that was too cold. Just like the softshell. Fried for too long in too cold fat.. dark brown on the outside and fat on the inside. The octopus was a little too chewy and the mole just isn't my thing. We had asked for the sauce separately when ordering, but unfortunately that was forgotten. As a final course we had the vongole with pasta, monkfish, burrata, lettuce and fries. I really liked the vongole with pasta, the others thought it was a bit too light in taste. The burrata was served with chicory, grapes and tomato crackers. For me, these flavors didn't work very well together because the grapes were quite sour. The monkfish was tasty but again served with lots of furikake. The lettuce was recommended to us but the miso dressing was so light that it was quite disappointing. There was hair in the fries so it was returned. In contrast to Rotterdam, the bill surprised us positively. We had a great time with several cocktails and mocktails!

Thai oysters were tasty. Monkfish was also tasty. The rest was okay. Soft shell crab was too oily, batter had so much oil. The dishes all had furikake, which is tasty, but so monotonous. You are very tightly packed, which is less.

The food was very good. Specially the octopus.

Today (4-12-24) lunch with oysters (nice variation of 2 preparations and 2 raw), fried soft-shell crab (perfect), prawns (grilled and juicy!), but the brill with beurre blanc was extraordinary!

We came here on the recommendation of a friend, and our expectations were exceeded. If you like eating fish, Pesca is an absolute MUST!!! Fresh fish, selected and balanced at the counter, and fantastically prepared. I love and eat a lot of fish, but this was the best thing I've ever been served. Plus a great atmosphere. We will come back next time we visit Amsterdam.

Came for the 2nd time. I'm not usually a big seafood fan but the way they prepare everything at Pesca is truely great. They have a lot of choice food and drinkwise + the general vibe inside is very nice. Definitely a must go when visiting AMS! Ps. Order the Irish oysters!

Find dining the warm cosy atmosphere. It was great taking our colleagues there for a team dinner and would recommend it to anybody. It is pricey but worth it

The food was great. It is a unique concept where you select your food before being escorted to your table. We have tried grilled dorado, pasta with mussels, fries and shrimps. Pasta was my favorite. It is indeed “to die for”. The service was OK, but we had to wait a lot for our food and for being served. The atmosphere is nice & cosy albeit loud since tables are placed close to each other.

The food was great, I like the concept of the restaurant. You get to choose your seafood at the beginning from the "fish market". I didn't like the fact there were no menus with details so you're not sure how what you choose is being prepared. Either way I choose blindly and was pleasantly surprised as it was very tasty and done well.

Great food, we loved the concept of the whole experience and the price was reasonable. The only thing to be improved is the service as we didn't feel like we had someone taking care of our table.

This restaurant has a nice concept and atmosphere, and the staff were kind and helpful, which we appreciated. The evening started off a bit messy, as many guests arrived at the same time, creating congestion in the fish market area. We were kindly asked to wait further inside the restaurant, but when we returned, several groups who arrived after us ended up being served before us. It was a little frustrating, though thankfully, the wait wasn’t too long. Perhaps a more structured system for accessing the market could help make this process smoother for everyone. Once we settled in, we were delighted with our seating arrangement, overlooking the entire restaurant and conveniently close to the pass where the food comes out—it added a cool touch to the experience. We enjoyed a delicious white Rioja. The tuna aguachile and turbot were fantastic. The octopus also good. Unfortunately, our gambas had sand in them. While the staff apologized, I must admit it didn’t quite make up for it. When I go out for seafood and end up with a 350€ bill, the very least I expect is that it’s thoroughly cleaned—this is simply a basic standard. Then the langoustine we ordered was beautifully presented but had barely anything to eat. By the time dessert came around, we weren’t really hungry anymore but decided to share the lemon meringue out of curiosity. Unfortunately, it didn’t impress us—the biscuit was kind of soggy, and the overall dessert felt overly sweet without the finesse we were hoping for. This experience left us somehow conflicted. While there were some very positive elements, the sandy gambas held us back from having an optimal experience. That said, I’d like to come back and give it another try sometimes. With hopefully properly cleaned seafood!

Good food, but terrible service. We waited 15 minutes just to choose the fish, another 10 minutes for someone to take our drink order, and the worst part: 45 minutes for the main dish. To top it off, we had to ask for the dessert menu and call someone to take our order… + 20min to get the dessert. Highly recommend improving the processes in the restaurant and hiring more staff.

This place......!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ Exceptional culinary experience, still waiting for the check, but who cares with the amazing food we had here. Staff was amazing, friendly and helpful, and they have funky t-shirts, which is a nice touch. Food was out of this world!! Especially enjoyed the Monk fish, although the salmon, yellowtail kingfish and the pulpo were amazingly good as well! A must visit place when in Amsterdam!

All the sea food was really fresh and tasty with some great wines available. The concept of the restaurant is very campy and a little over the top. It also makes it more annoying if you are disabled and can’t really stand around pretending to be at a market. 5 stars for great food but I’d prefer not to have the pretend market since it is a little ridiculous.

Pesca offers a truly unique seafood experience and with a great selection of fresh seafood to choose from, there is truly something for everyone. We ordered a mix of fish, scallops, mussels, and sides, along with several bottles of wine and we couldn’t have been happier with our choices. Highly recommend for any seafood fan looking for a non-traditional dining experience!

This was such a treat! I highly recommend if you are in Amsterdam. Make sure you make reservations in advance because you won’t be able to walk in for dinner. Try the bread and butter (butter is infused with seaweed). The cabbage was Asian fusion. The food and the service was top notch.

Fist time dining at pesca we wish there was one near us in England the staff are excellent they explain the different stages of your experience very well the fish market is first to pick your meals everything looked amazing and fresh we went for monk fish scallops seabass and a side of the cabbage then you go to the wine section to select a wine to go with your meal we don't drink wine so went for gin and tonics theres lots of alternatives to wine .we were then seated and our meals brought out as they were cooked everything was delicious we were too full for desert would definitely return of we visit amsterdam again and would recommend to anyone going

On Friday, September 27, in honor of my 60th birthday, I had dinner with my children and daughter-in-law at Pesca Amsterdam. Provided that the concept is very nice and the food is excellent, a satisfying evening of dining out should still score sufficient on several points, so here are some points of criticism: People had forgotten the (discount) gift card from a friend that was supposed to be on the table as a surprise with a nice text. I was informed of this in a somewhat clumsy way... the Wow effect that the generous donor had in mind was completely destroyed! Furthermore, I thought it was an absolute negative when the 4 other chairs at our table were occupied by another group. Unwanted participant in conversations of strangers; a little more privacy would have been desirable. The next day I had some telephone contact about this, a call back was supposed to be made, but that did not happen; bit of a shame. The gift card giver was disappointed and reported that things did not go as planned: "It's a pity that it didn't go as you hoped, and that things turned out this way due to miscommunication. We had almost 200 guests that evening and then you sometimes forget something.".... said Team Pesca. Team Pesca has clearly not yet understood that guests should not be the victims of miscommunication in the workplace

It's been over a month since I've visited Pesca and I've still been thinking about it from time to time. We ordered Oysters with Thai inspired vinaigrette, Scallops with lemon butter sauce, a whole flat fish with a similar lemon cream sauce, brussel sprouts, and fresh bread and I wouldn't have changed anything. The sauces really made each dish, they were very well balanced and an explosion of flavor. Fancier restaurants like these usually end up on the heavy side but I didn't think anything had too much cream/butter. I can only hope that this restaurant remains as good as it was when I visit again. Pesca is my number one recommendation in Amsterdam and is well worth the splurge.

Loved the experience! On arrival it took us a while to get to grips with the concept. I loved the idea of ordering everything before even being seated. But!!! Be warned don’t over order, it’s so easy to get carried away which we did and the welcome cava is chargeable. The charge for the cava on arrival is a little naughty as we may not have taken it if we knew it would have been added to the bill. The food! We ordered far too much but what we had was well presented and all sauces etc really complimented the individual items. The crab legs and monkfish were definitely my favourite. The service As mentioned the welcome drink charge is a bit naughty, especially as it’s not a cheap restaurant. Some items were pretty pricey! The floor staff were friendly but scarce and it took a long time for them to clear plates. The atmosphere Really buzzing and lively which was great. My only negative was the noddle bar style seating which meant sharing tables with strangers and space was limited. Overall great but not sure I would go back - feel like it’s a concept thing that done once is enough.

We ordered 4 dishes, the calamari just didn't taste well, although I tried them in other restaurants and I loved it. The tuna was horrible, it was far too salty in my opinion, the sauce was salty and even together with the fish it was to salty. I had the feeling the calamari were just bad and the tuna just salt. The other waiter apologised, but honestly after paying 80€, while half of it was really bad and the waitress thought we are idiots, of course our mood was ruined. Only the Scallops were truly interesting and good, mussels were good but could be less spicy.

Don’t go to this place if you don’t want to be treated like garbage. Customer service is terrible. It isn’t even worth one star. We were frequent customers, going here for literally every celebration and recommending this place to every colleague, friend, or acquaintance visiting Amsterdam. As a thank you for this loyalty, we’ve received terrible treatment. I’d never advise to bring your money to a business that doesn’t value its customers at all.
