Best seafood restaurant and service. The staff is amazing!

Very beautiful and interactive experience where you personally select all fish you will eat. Every fish and seafood is ethically sourced. The team is very friendly and the service is harmonious.

We arrived and there were 40 minutes left before the kitchen closed. They refused to serve three-quarters of the menu. People came after us and were served their food before us. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice. The waiters are busy and don't respond easily if you call them, even though you are a customer.

Will def return and have been recommending it to our seafood lover friends!!

Great concept but fell short of expectations. Shrimps and clams were great. 1 of 5 groups there and everyone of us were clearly foreign tourists. Doubt it's a place locals visit. A tourist trap.

Everything is fresh, and I love that you can pick exactly what you want to eat. My favorite was the smoked oysters 🦪 — absolutely delicious! Great service too, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Will definitely be coming back.

Our experience at Pesca was amazing from start to finish. The moment you arrive, you can tell it’s not your typical restaurant — the concept is unique and really fun. The seafood was incredibly fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. Everything looked phenomenal, and the service was just as impressive. A must-visit restaurant when in Amsterdam. Pesca easily ranks among my top 10 favorite restaurants, and I've been here at least five times. A visit to Pesca is an experience: At reception, you receive a can of sardines with your table number, a glass of sparkling wine, and a bowl of popcorn. Then you go to the "fish market" – a display of the freshest fish – where you choose what you want to eat. A knowledgeable colleague explains how the fish is prepared. But here, you just have to trust: everything tastes great. Then you go to the "wine stand" – here, too, an expert sommelier advises you on which wine pairs best with your meal based on your fish order. From there, you can either go to your table or quickly head to the bar for an aperitif. A tasteful journey awaits you, with many flavors, interesting combinations, the highest quality fish, and superbly attentive service. Pesca is an experience and worth every euro! Don’t forget to make a reservation!

This restaurant was really fun as it did not have a menu. You simply picked your seafood and sides, and the rest was magic! We had king crab legs, scallops, yellow fin sashimi, and cauliflower. Everything was great, especially the king crab! We did think there was going to be more of a show, but glad it wasn't. Food was excellent, and the drinks were uniquely created. A must try when visiting Amsterdam.

We went here for the gamba feast and it really was! Sadly the service was a bit poor. It was very busy so that’s why the wait was long. Also one of our dishes didn’t came but luckily it was also not on our receipt. The concept is very cool and I think overall for sure a place where we want to go back to!

It’s a busy Saturday night there. As the friendly staff need to explain the concept and how to order dishes we like, it took a bit time to wait and to order. I was thinking if there’s an explanation on the website so people can read it upfront, that might save some time for the customer, because to order the dishes already feel a bit “stressed “ , I need to make up my mind soon as other people are lining up there. The first impression is indeed the venue has that “fish market “feeling , a bit chaotic but lively. The high table is not so easy to climb into the seat but luckily we managed it 😉. The dishes are very tasty and serves very quick, thanks to the hard working team in the kitchen. After we finished our dishes, as we don’t know if possible to order again (like I need to go to the “fish market “ to choose the fish or not) , we decided to go to the bar area just to have few more drinks. I ordered Whisky Sour but it doesn’t taste like it: I hardly taste any whisky in it and not sour at all. It’s like a glass sugar drink with a thin layer of foam and some spice on the top and that’s it. The free ice cream/ water ice to take away when you checked out is funny, that gives the guests something to remember. For the tasty food I would go again but I hope next time I would have a better experience, especially if I order a cocktail.

'Novelty' ordering process where you buy you choice of fish or crustacean from the 'Shop' and then they tell you how it will served. Odd is the best description. The produce is, however, very good. Ordering wine is the next issue. Wine by the glass is poor, and the full bottles reflect the WBTG choices... The next issue is getting your food through the kitchen. Our food looked well prepared and cooked, but it sat waiting to be delivered to our table, leaving everything lukewarm. The cod would have been delightful if it got to us 10 minutes sooner. Overall, poor.

While searching for a seafood restaurant during my Amsterdam stay I chanced upon this Pesca Seafood restaurant that interests me. I would highly recommend anyone who loves seafood to go and try as their seafood is so fresh and also delicious. Reservation is recommended as well to ensure that you have a table as we were there on a Wednesday evening and it was packed with people. I would certainly want to come and and try more dishes next time.

First of all - super fresh and delicious! I’d recommend to eat here 100%! Second- very interesting concept- they don’t have a menu and you’re like at the fish market and choose whatever catch they have - all fresh! We had crabs, scallops and mussels and dorado - everything was amazing! And also you can pair it with the wine you want- we really enjoyed!

A great fun restaurant! The food is delicious, the wine list is excellent, varied and well thought-out. The concept works very well and the place has a fantastic vibe! I enjoyed this restaurant very much. Don’t be afraid to take your time and ask a lot of questions when it’s your first time there. Everything turned out to be ok, but what I didn’t like so much was the ordering. The guy who helped us was a little rushed and it seemed like he was trying to force an order out of us. He told us about these 3 crudo dishes for appetizers but made it seem like they came with the dinner not that it was an option. Also, each seafood item you order is only prepared one way, so it doesn’t make sense why they don’t have a menu. My understanding was that we get to choose the fish and then choose how we wanted it cooked, but that’s not what happened. I was just visiting so I probably won’t be back anytime soon, but I might try the other locations in the other countries.

First time eating here. When you enter you immediately see a mini market. After your choice and wine selection you are guided to your table. We tried several dishes and everything was delicious. The staff is relaxed and very friendly. Has become one of my favorite places in my beautiful Mokum! A must for anyone who wants to try a new concept.

I came here two years ago and had an amazing experience. Sadly, something has gone terribly wrong since then. This recent visit was one of the top 3 worst restaurant experiences of my life. We were a group of four and ordered the following: - Bread & Butter – Came with a hair in the butter. Sent it back. - Scallops – Arrived cold. Sent it back. - Shrimps – Overcooked and full of sand. Sent it back. - Pasta with Mussels – Also full of sand. Sent it back. - Sea Bream – Looked fine, but gave me diarrhea later that night. I don’t even want to think about this place anymore. It honestly made me feel like I never want to eat seafood again. Absolutely not recommended — I won’t even walk past it.

Food is absolutely tasty, not even exaggerating when I say it is probably the best in the country. A few setbacks is the time it takes for the food to arrive and the price may be quite high for some as well. Other than that, really good food and a unique experience in ordering them.

Fun and delicious dining experience at Pesca Amsterdam. The seafood is fresh and cook excellently. Standout dishes include hamachi sashimi and king crab legs. The atmosphere is lively and intimate. Service was friendly but a little slow on this occassion. Fresh seafood is never cheap but I think the quality justifies the prices. I would visit again.

Fresh and tasty seafood, grilled on a Kamado, with delicious indulgent sides, what can go wrong? Little touristy but who cares.

Wasn't sure what to make of it when we first arrived as it looked like a fishmongers... we were dealt with by a lovely waiter called Lucas who explained very thoroughly how it worked and 5 minutes later we were on our way... you choose you fish and shellfish from the Seafood counter and then it's all put in a bucket with your table number and sent off to the kitchen. We had a variety of Oysters to start, followed by clams in a white wine sauce and tuna ceviche... Main course was a whole turbot with a buerre Blanc sauce and a delicious side salad. All of this was washed down with a delicious bottle of Reisling. We shared a lovely chocolate dessert with two macchiato coffees. The meal was to die for, the atmosphere and lighting were great and Lucas was fantastic. If you like your fish and want an experience then Pesca is a must when you're in Amsterdam... thanks.

I went to Pesca twice. It's the best seafood experience I've had in Holland.

Review 2025: It is with pleasure that we saw an enormous improvement one year later in the weak points listed below. We appreciated very much the effort and enthusiasm of the staff in making customers feel comfortable. Service was quick and efficient, the food of high quality, the dishes very well prepared. Lovely fish and chips ;) definitely a much better experience than last year, which will make us visit this restaurant again! Review 2024: Lovely concept and delicious food. I really liked you can pick the fish you want at the fish market but the logistic and service might improve. We booked a table for two people at 12.45 and when we arrived we were introduced to the concept and asked to wait our turn. We waited around 40 minutes in front of the fish market before being assisted. Once done with the order we had to stop at the wine market to chose the drinks and stop again at another spot to wait to be seated. When we finally get to our table, we received a different dish than the one ordered and it took approximately 15 minutes to get the right one while the responsible persons were lively discussing why it went wrong. At the fish market we specifically asked to get fish and chips before the main dish, but we get the main dish first, therefore we didn’t want the fish and chips anymore since it would have arrived shortly after and one of the two dishes would have cooled down. At last, at the end of the service I asked for an espresso coffe that never arrived. I reported these issues to the person at the checkout and I appreciated her apologies. However, I don’t think we’ll come back due to the messy circumstances we experienced.

We only stopped for a brief oyster pit-stop, yet we were incredibly surprised by the awesome welcome from Nicolas (the host) and the incredible Ponzu oysters from Kamil. Exceptional taste, had to order 12 more after trying the first one! The smokiness, the complexity of flavours, the torched oysters- exceptional! I guess you could say it was love at first bite! My friend said it was the best oysters she ever had!! We sure will be back to try the full dinner soon!

Pesca is such a unique spot—feels like stepping into a seafood market with a fine dining twist. You choose your fish from a market-style counter then you head over to choose a wine to match. If you’re in Amsterdam and into seafood, this place is a must.

What a great experience. You get to select your own seafood for your dinner and how you want it cooked. Fantastic. And they did a really great job with cooking the langoustines and the fish. Simply perfect.

Nice concept, staff was pretty nice. Explanation of the fish was good. Did feel a bit unpersonal and the staff had the order wrong which we specifically requested. I think you pay significantly for the concept because it felt quite overpriced for what you get, needed to order quite a significant amount of dishes and sides. Something different but I personally appreciate a bit more classical dishes from a traditional fish restaurant than a bit more fluff and a different concept, still a good place to go..

Hands down, best tasting seafood in the country. Every dish is made with perfection and unique taste. I would definitely recommend anyone and would come back again and again. It's a bit pricey but you definitely get what you pay for.

To be honest, the food was well seasoned, but most of the seafood was not fresh enough. The restaurant emphasized that only credit cards were accepted during reservation, but told us that we had to pay in cash during checkout. We were forced to withdraw cash from the nearby ATM and paid a high ATM fee. The restaurant also shortchanged us (only 0.5 instead of 0.9 for a 0.1 yuan bill). I don't think this is the treatment we deserve.

The blonde lady at the front desk, who clearly mistook “hospitality” for “hostility.” A true talent in making guests feel like an inconvenience rather than customers. Honestly, I think she might have a bright future in security—she already has the “you shall not pass” attitude down perfectly. A little charisma wouldn’t hurt either, but that might require going back to school or at least watching a YouTube tutorial on “how to be pleasant.” This place is a masterclass in how not to treat paying customers. We came to Pesca, a seafood restaurant in Amsterdam, but the overall experience was a bit disappointing. The restaurant has a stylish design and a good atmosphere. When you enter, you feel like you are participating in some kind of market theater performance. It feels fresh and interesting. But it was the food itself that really raised eyebrows. Firstly, the basic freshness of the seafood was not up to our expectations. The shrimp I ordered had a fishy smell and was not refreshing. The texture of the crab meat was also slightly pink and did not taste like it was caught fresh that day. For a restaurant that specializes in seafood, this is a big problem that cannot be ignored. Secondly, prices are extremely opaque. The food is ordered at the "market counter", and the price is not clearly marked at all. The clerk simply quoted the price without any specific explanation. The amount at checkout was much higher than expected, which made people feel a little "misled" or even "routine". It’s understandable if it’s a high-end restaurant that charges high prices, but the quality of ingredients and unclear pricing can make people feel uneasy. The service staff is quite friendly and will enthusiastically recommend dishes and provide wine pairing suggestions, but this cannot completely make up for the imbalance between food and price. Overall, the concept of Pesca is very attractive and the atmosphere is well created. However, as a seafood restaurant, the most important "freshness" and "transparency" are not achieved. Three stars are for space and creativity, while food and price require serious review. We visited Pesca Seafood Restaurant in Amsterdam with high expectations, but the overall experience was underwhelming. From the fishmonger to your plate. Amount that you choose at the entrance literally. Preparation of 10, everything very good and good service. To add a but, I would say that we had to ask for water about 4 times and it never arrived. But otherwise great and I would repeat without a doubt. Very good price quality. Recommendation, do not order whole pieces of fish so that the bill does not end up being very expensive.

Food is good, cool fish market concept and experience. However the food was incredibly slow, the time between getting our table, ordering and getting our food was extremely slow. And services was good on the first part but when sitting at the table, I felt that the waiters were not that respectful and kept forgetting what we ordered. Also I don’t understand why we cannot order 2 different clam dishes at the start and is only allowed to do so when sat down at the table??

The food was super fresh and honestly tasted amazing—no complaints there at all. Most of the staff were friendly and welcoming too. But there was one incident that really left a bad taste in our mouths. We went there to celebrate my birthday, and my friends had brought a birthday cake for me. After we finished our meal, we asked one of the waiters if it would be okay to have the cake there. He was really friendly, wished me a happy birthday, and said it was no problem. He even brought us plates and utensils. But just as we were about to eat the cake—literally after we’d opened the packaging—another guy came over and told us we weren’t allowed to eat our own cake there, and if we did, we’d be charged the price of one of their desserts. We explained that we’d already checked with another staff member, but his response was cold and blunt: “Our people made a mistake. You should’ve checked with me.” No apology, no empathy, nothing. We were honestly just frozen by that. The cake box was already damaged, and at that point if we didn’t eat it, we’d have to carry it out with our hands. He saw our reaction and just said, “I’ll give you some time to think about it,” and walked off. I totally understand if that’s your policy, and I’d have no issue paying for a dessert if I actually ordered one. But the way he handled it was just so rude. So if birthday cakes aren’t allowed there, does that mean people can’t celebrate birthdays in your restaurant at all? Or do you make birthday cakes? I’ve been to plenty of restaurants where bringing a birthday cake was never an issue—most even offer to keep it in the fridge for you. Let alone this whole “you’ll be charged for dessert you didn’t even order” nonsense. To be fair, a few minutes later, the same guy came back and said we could go ahead and have the cake, and we weren’t charged for it. But by then, the vibe was already ruined, and it killed the mood. It’s honestly a shame, because the food was amazing and most of the staff were great. We were really enjoying ourselves until that whole situation happened. After that, I’m just not sure I’d want to go back.

The taste is good, but there are 8 of us and they only have the chef serving plates, but they won't give us the menu in advance. In the end, the appetizer was fish, the main course was 6 fish, and there was no other seafood. It feels like other guests chose the leftovers and gave them to us. Very unhappy at this price!

A wonderful experience at Pesca Amsterdam! You enter the fish market where you have plenty of choice and receive an explanation about the fish types and dishes. After this, you walk past the wine market where you will receive good advice about the types of wine that suit your dishes. The service was super fast and the food was delicious! We actually had the table until 7:15 PM due to a 'quick' reservation. At half past eight, when we had not yet been sent away, we asked if we could order something and sit at the bar, this was no problem at all and was arranged; If we hadn't asked, we probably could have stayed longer. All in all a very tasty experience!

Decent food but not worth the waiting time and the money - definitely an overrated restaurant. The presentation was much better than the taste (most plates looked fantastic but did not taste as good as they looked). The tuna ceviche and chocolate desert were excellent in both taste and presentation, everything else was average. The pulpo (octopus) was chewy (so chewy that I had to spit out a piece). The place was full and too loud, service was very good but we were missing napkins and wet towels. We booked a table at 9:15 and we were there on time; we waited in queue to go through the fish and wine selection and this took 30 minutes, that is we sat at our table at 9:45. For 80 euros per person I was expecting something much better than average.

Nice food but not the best, slow service and atmosphere too crowded.

Fantastic restaurant for seafood with a novel fish market concept! Prices were quite reasonable, seafood was fresh and staff were friendly and attentive. The soft shell crab was really well fried and flavourful, mussels were light and tasty with pasta.
