Very simple but good cuisine, the desserts were delicious.

Skibidi Toilet 👎 By far the worst experience ever. Just wanted to grab a drink in this empty restaurant, so much attitude from the server. We felt unwelcome from the second we sat done until we left. Just aweful.

Rather tasteless hamburger (burnt steak between 2 slices of bread), decent vegetarian dishes. One of us tasted an endive stammpot: difficult to judge since it was a first experience. Friendly waitress but extra sauce should have been announced.

Erreur sur l’addition, le supposé gérant égyptien dit simplement à mon amie qu’il n’y a pas à vérifier l’addition puisque c’est une autre personne du groupe qui paiera l’addition… Quel malhonnête et désagréable personnage qui était déjà expéditif lors de la commande. PS : la nourriture est passable

The decor makes us believe in a restaurant with home-made dishes but in reality everything is frozen. I ordered a burger, 2 pieces of industrial bread from Lidl, 1 lean steak, salad and a piece of cucumber that didn't know what it was doing there without sauce or anything; even a burger from McDonald's is more interesting in taste. The salad was opened from a package and placed on the plate without any dressing. The fries were ok but the sauces had to be paid for without being told. In short, flee this place.

Do not let yourself get fooled by the charming location and decoration. This restaurant is nothing more than a tourist trap and a poor imitation of a traditional experience. Everything is clearly frozen with zero effort put into any meal. Honestly, even fast food would be a better option.

Visitamos para el almuerzo en el Día del Rey! Puede haber sido el único lugar más tranquilo de la ciudad jaja! La comida era excelente. Nos encantó la decoración y el personal en general era amable.

Extremely rude waiter who was really unfriendly from the start. Looked at the two of us entering the restaurant like we were most unwanted and trespassing on his property. Passive- aggressive behaviour continued throughout the meal. Most unhappy that we asked for tap water and had only one course each rather than two or three. Grudgingly served our meals then assumed we would be tipping him. Hilarious.

Super funny mini restaurant, will definitely take foreign family and friends here to taste the Dutch pot... Only had a pancake for lunch but it was tasty....

Characteristic Dutch place. Wooden tables and chairs, as well as the entrance door, the steep stairs to the upper floor and basement. The owner is a courteous person and even spoke in Italian. The food is good and the airing is quick. It is advisable to book, especially during peak hours. I had dinner at 7pm and without booking. The only negative note was the small bathroom with very steep and narrow stairs and not very clean.

Acabamos de tener una gran comida "holandesa" en De Rozenboom en Amsterdam. Le pedimos al conserje del W Hotel una recomendación para un restaurante holandés tradicional cerca y él recomendó De Rozenboom. Es muy casual y muy divertido. Teníamos puré de patatas tradicional con chucrut, tocino y salchicha, weinerschnitzel, y el mejor pastel de manzana holandés! Aunque la comida sonaba un poco inusual, nos encantó y disfrutamos probando algo muy auténtico y holandés. Nuestro camarero era de Egipto, pero hablaba inglés perfecto y nos hizo algunas sugerencias excelentes sobre qué probar. Sin duda recomendaría esto para una comida memorable verdaderamente auténtica. No te decepcionarás.

Here we don't crowd... Cubes of cheese, Caesar salad without seasoning, meh meatballs. Sweet potatoes are good... Pepsi bottles are small. In short, to be avoided for those who want to have an experience with Dutch food.

This is THE WORST french restaurant ever! They will give you untoasted, AMERICAN bread with the muscles with layers of unfried onion and soaking, a so called salad which is just salad leaves of a frozen bag with 1 slice of long lidl cucumber, no dressing, of course. If you order the safest food ever, french fries, they won't even peel the skin of a potato. For that you'd get charged over 35 euros! At this point, just eat at a McDonald's! You'd pay like 3 or 4 times less and, at least, get your potatoes peeled!

Original Dutch food? The only original Dutch things there are the Delft ceramics. Low quality ingredients. This is just a tourist trap. Never anymore

I went in at 6.30pm on a weekday, hoping to check out Dutch food. There's still empty seats even though I standby-ed reservation before hand. I ordered a Kale Stamppot and it's enough for one person. It's served with bacon and sausage, along with some leaves. I enjoyed the food. The interior had calm background music playing, plus the decorations gave it a homely vibes.

You could easily just walk right past this restaurant with how tucked away it is, but that would be a mistake. Great traditional Dutch food off the main drag with a cozy atmosphere and very attentive staff. The sausage was cooked well and the sauerkraut potatoes were delicious.

The food itself is kinda ok. Not good, not bad, ok. Maybe avoid the pea soup. They do not offer tap water like all the other tourist traps on main roads of the city center. A lot of places just outside those streets give you tap when asked. What's really wrong is that they decided to bring mayo with fries and charge for it without telling us if we want it. So they simply tricked us into paying more. They brought it together but without telling us we need to pay an extra for it. I mean, it's not the amount OC, it's the behavior. So, put simply, a tourist trap I fell into and that I wanted to report here so you can avoid this place.

We can't rate the food because we only had something to drink. The service came across as very bored and unfriendly. Without asking for the bill, it was placed on the table. We would have liked to eat more. The atmosphere seems cozy, but is quite narrow.

A random walk-in visit, simple but tasty & acceptable meal in a great little atmospheric find just around the back of Dam Sq. Just hope I can remember it's location on future trips.

Great place to spend a nice, cozy night in Amsterdam. The staff is SUPER friendly and polite. Especially one of the workers-Mina. He is a super cool guy with a good sense of humour and who actually interacts with customers in a nice, playful, and funny manner. The restaurant itself has a really nice atmosphere, and the old antique interior makes it stand out in front of all the other central restaurants. The food was amazing and I definitely recommend the place. Me and my family had a great time there.

The place is really cosy and nice, but please the food is really not good. No presentation, no taste, I feel like I'm eating baby food. Too bad because the place is really nice. But I do not recommend.

Well-kept place spread over three floors, friendly and fast service. Food meh, we all took different dishes and they all seemed to be microwaved with a decent quality, we all had something left over and that's rare. The Low Price re-proportions everything

A really quaint and cozy little dining restaurant - hidden in a narrow alley. The welcome was very friendly and amusing - of course it could only get better - and it was. The food was delicious, the staff were all very friendly and the prices were completely reasonable. There is also really Dutch cuisine here - not a huge selection - but the potatoes are of course sufficient and “mashed”. We had a lovely dinner and would happily recommend this small restaurant.

Tasteless food and tired staff but good enviroment

A magnificent little restaurant serving typical Dutch cuisine (rare in Amsterdam!), in an authentic old house full of charm (we felt like we were in a boat), with excellent value for money. Very good contact with the boss, full of humor. I particularly recommend the eel.

We came across the restaurant spontaneously by chance, and despite visiting without a reservation, we were lucky to get a seat for 5. Traditional fare, a somewhat reserved service at first, but it has thawed out. We will definitely come back…absolute recommendation…

Really enjoyed the experience. The food was on point for expectations. Felt like I was at grandma's house.

Great atmosphere. Simply love the déco. We wanted authentic food in an authentic place. The house represents what houses are like in Amsterdam and well worth the visit. A visit to the bathroom is a must with it's twirling narrow staircase to the 3rd floor!

Visit in September 2024 I happened to find it and the atmosphere was nice so I went in. Take a seat on the terrace facing the alley outside. The wind was strong and the menu flew away 😅 The poke shop next door? It seems to be an affiliated store. The waiter looked at me and listened to my order, and served me well and made me feel comfortable. I ordered two dishes. Omelet and oil sardine salad Both were served quickly and tasted absolutely delicious. Ketchup is not provided in Europe, so those who are used to America may be disappointed. The vegetables were also fresh and reliable. The drinks were also delicious. It was a restaurant that I would like to go to again when I go to Amsterdam 👍

Era un viernes muy ocupado por la noche, pero tuvimos suerte de que una mesa estaba disponible justo cuando llegamos. El lugar es diminuto, pero así, ¡TAN, bien! Muy tradicional holandés (que era lo que buscábamos). Disfrutamos de un sello y los guisantes como principal, y no nos decepcionó. El servicio era de primera clase (estar sentado al lado de la cocina ayudó! ) , el vino fluía libremente (estábamos caminando! ) , y los precios eran muy razonables. Esta fue probablemente la comida más destacada de nuestra semana en la ciudad.

Tuvimos una comida realmente encantadora aquí. Queríamos auténtica comida holandesa y eso es lo que tenemos. Personal muy amable y ambiente y encantador para sentarse fuera. No puedo encontrar ningún fallo.

Delicious classic Dutch cuisine

It's not because we are French and we barely get by in English that we should be treated like dirt.... No confidence building, no help with the menu, waitress more than unfriendly who watches you eat from a meter away. Mineral water for a fee. I give 90 euros in cash for a bill of 86 euros and I have to claim the 4 euros that she had supposedly "forgotten"...

The ambience and the restaurant itself make a cool impression, but the staff is very unfriendly and gives the impression that they don't feel like going. For the money you get a relatively small portion, although there are fries included, but they don't save it. Honestly, you can definitely find much better things in Amsterdam, especially for the money. In summary, no recommendation!

The food is good I started a pancake but if I wanted a pancake I would go to a creperie and not here I can't imagine what the rest and the drinks are like I'm not talking about it a straight juice straight out of a carton with an industrial taste for an exorbitant price. Warm and beautifully decorated space with polite and fast staff. Few but very tasty dishes.

Food was lovely but it was like being in a live episode of Fawlty Towers. The waiter and waitress were happy to tick dinners off if they felt the need. Eg when a lady at a neighbouring table raised her hand to the waitress she very quickly said you are not the only people here you know! When I came to pay it was a duel between myself and the waiter who snatched my card out of my hand and shoved it into the machine. I was determined not to take my hand off the machine until I had extracted my card. It was a duel to the finish but I did triumph in the end. Worth going for the comedic value and the food was great so worth it for that too.

Nice, classic restaurant in a pretty, quiet side street in Amsterdam. The waiters were very friendly and the hearty food was delicious. The prices are ok. We were there in the evening and had reserved, which is highly recommended as a lot of walk-in customers were turned away due to a lack of space. The restaurant is rather cramped with three floors and narrow, steep stairs, but very nicely decorated. Very good espresso.

It was warmed up stuff from the supermarket: canned beans and meatballs. It's a disgrace to offer this for 17.50. The conditions are feeding watermelons instead of serving the guests = you wait unnecessarily long. The tables shake, so you can't even enjoy your drink. It doesn't say on the menu that it's about bottled drinks.

Really nice experience. The food tasted like a Sunday afternoon at grandma's. Really warm, hearty and delicious. The service was also good and very nice. We sat outside in the alley, where it was narrow but cozy and quiet. Can only recommend the whole thing!

For the first time I tried the traditional Dutch dish stampot (17.50 €). I didn't like it, but I can't compare, maybe it was prepared as it should have been. We also took a steak (21€), the meat was not bad. The pepper sauce (which we were given at an additional cost) was not tasty at all. Mayonnaise for the fries was also not included in the price of the dish. The bill came out to 40€ for two without drinks. There is a toilet, but it is very inconveniently located.

My experience at Petit-Restaurant De Rozenboom was average. While the food was decent, it didn't particularly stand out. The ambiance was okay, but nothing remarkable. Overall, it's a restaurant that you could consider skipping if you're looking for a more memorable dining experience.

We were frantically making our order and eating to try make it in time for a canal cruise 😅 although well-taken care of by staff during our very hurried dine-in. The dishes were all fresh and delicious, certainly adding to a memorable first evening in Amsterdam!

Food was Ok, but overpriced. Better go somewhere off the city centre
