The BEST place to go for authentic Dutch food, incredibly friendly staff and the food was so so delicious! Would highly recommend and would definitely return on our next visit! The chips (fries) in the photo had been 75% eaten, that is not the serving size!

The food itself is kinda ok. Not good, not bad, ok. Maybe avoid the pea soup. They do not offer tap water like all the other tourist traps on main roads of the city center. A lot of places just outside those streets give you tap when asked. What's really wrong is that they decided to bring mayo with fries and charge for it without telling us if we want it. So they simply tricked us into paying more. They brought it together but without telling us we need to pay an extra for it. I mean, it's not the amount OC, it's the behavior. So, put simply, a tourist trap I fell into and that I wanted to report here so you can avoid this place.

We can't rate the food because we only had something to drink. The service came across as very bored and unfriendly. Without asking for the bill, it was placed on the table. We would have liked to eat more. The atmosphere seems cozy, but is quite narrow.

Great place to spend a nice, cozy night in Amsterdam. The staff is SUPER friendly and polite. Especially one of the workers-Mina. He is a super cool guy with a good sense of humour and who actually interacts with customers in a nice, playful, and funny manner. The restaurant itself has a really nice atmosphere, and the old antique interior makes it stand out in front of all the other central restaurants. The food was amazing and I definitely recommend the place. Me and my family had a great time there.

Well-kept place spread over three floors, friendly and fast service. Food meh, we all took different dishes and they all seemed to be microwaved with a decent quality, we all had something left over and that's rare. The Low Price re-proportions everything

A really quaint and cozy little dining restaurant - hidden in a narrow alley. The welcome was very friendly and amusing - of course it could only get better - and it was. The food was delicious, the staff were all very friendly and the prices were completely reasonable. There is also really Dutch cuisine here - not a huge selection - but the potatoes are of course sufficient and “mashed”. We had a lovely dinner and would happily recommend this small restaurant.

A magnificent little restaurant serving typical Dutch cuisine (rare in Amsterdam!), in an authentic old house full of charm (we felt like we were in a boat), with excellent value for money. Very good contact with the boss, full of humor. I particularly recommend the eel.

We came across the restaurant spontaneously by chance, and despite visiting without a reservation, we were lucky to get a seat for 5. Traditional fare, a somewhat reserved service at first, but it has thawed out. We will definitely come back…absolute recommendation…

Great atmosphere. Simply love the déco. We wanted authentic food in an authentic place. The house represents what houses are like in Amsterdam and well worth the visit. A visit to the bathroom is a must with it's twirling narrow staircase to the 3rd floor!

Visit in September 2024 I happened to find it and the atmosphere was nice so I went in. Take a seat on the terrace facing the alley outside. The wind was strong and the menu flew away 😅 The poke shop next door? It seems to be an affiliated store. The waiter looked at me and listened to my order, and served me well and made me feel comfortable. I ordered two dishes. Omelet and oil sardine salad Both were served quickly and tasted absolutely delicious. Ketchup is not provided in Europe, so those who are used to America may be disappointed. The vegetables were also fresh and reliable. The drinks were also delicious. It was a restaurant that I would like to go to again when I go to Amsterdam 👍

Muy tradicional holandés (que era lo que buscábamos). Disfrutamos de un sello y los guisantes como principal, y no nos decepcionó. El servicio era de primera clase (estar sentado al lado de la cocina ayudó! ) , el vino fluía libremente (estábamos caminando! ) , y los precios eran muy razonables. Esta fue probablemente la comida más destacada de nuestra semana en la ciudad.

Delicious classic Dutch cuisine

It's not because we are French and we barely get by in English that we should be treated like dirt.... No confidence building, no help with the menu, waitress more than unfriendly who watches you eat from a meter away. Mineral water for a fee. I give 90 euros in cash for a bill of 86 euros and I have to claim the 4 euros that she had supposedly "forgotten"...

The ambience and the restaurant itself make a cool impression, but the staff is very unfriendly and gives the impression that they don't feel like going. For the money you get a relatively small portion, although there are fries included, but they don't save it. Honestly, you can definitely find much better things in Amsterdam, especially for the money. In summary, no recommendation!

The food is good I started a pancake but if I wanted a pancake I would go to a creperie and not here I can't imagine what the rest and the drinks are like I'm not talking about it a straight juice straight out of a carton with an industrial taste for an exorbitant price. Food was lovely but it was like being in a live episode of Fawlty Towers. The waiter and waitress were happy to tick dinners off if they felt the need. Eg when a lady at a neighbouring table raised her hand to the waitress she very quickly said you are not the only people here you know! When I came to pay it was a duel between myself and the waiter who snatched my card out of my hand and shoved it into the machine. I was determined not to take my hand off the machine until I had extracted my card. It was a duel to the finish but I did triumph in the end. Worth going for the comedic value and the food was great so worth it for that too.

Nice, classic restaurant in a pretty, quiet side street in Amsterdam. The waiters were very friendly and the hearty food was delicious. The prices are ok. We were there in the evening and had reserved, which is highly recommended as a lot of walk-in customers were turned away due to a lack of space. The restaurant is rather cramped with three floors and narrow, steep stairs, but very nicely decorated. Very good espresso.

It was warmed up stuff from the supermarket: canned beans and meatballs. It's a disgrace to offer this for 17.50. The conditions are feeding watermelons instead of serving the guests = you wait unnecessarily long. The tables shake, so you can't even enjoy your drink. It doesn't say on the menu that it's about bottled drinks.

For the first time I tried the traditional Dutch dish stampot (17.50 €). I didn't like it, but I can't compare, maybe it was prepared as it should have been. We also took a steak (21€), the meat was not bad. The pepper sauce (which we were given at an additional cost) was not tasty at all. Mayonnaise for the fries was also not included in the price of the dish. The bill came out to 40€ for two without drinks. There is a toilet, but it is very inconveniently located.

My experience at Petit-Restaurant De Rozenboom was average. While the food was decent, it didn't particularly stand out. The ambiance was okay, but nothing remarkable. Overall, it's a restaurant that you could consider skipping if you're looking for a more memorable dining experience.

We were frantically making our order and eating to try make it in time for a canal cruise 😅 although well-taken care of by staff during our very hurried dine-in. The dishes were all fresh and delicious, certainly adding to a memorable first evening in Amsterdam!

A small cosy restaurant hidden at a small alley. The place is nicely decorated and seatings are split into two levels. Curious to try out stamppot, the so called traditional Dutch dish that is smoked sausage with mashed potatoes ( I ordered with kale). Since this is the first time having the dish, I have no other benchmark. I guess it cannot go too wrong. Tomato soup was just normal.

Don't be fooled by the facade of the place, and the typical appearance of the restaurant, because you will regret it. I have never seen less warm than these servers, no smile, politeness, not even a look, it was amazing. As for the food, obviously too expensive, it is not necessarily bad, but paying €15.50 for frozen fries, vegetables and raw vegetables (bonus for the two passable vegetarian croquettes) hurts the wallet . Oh yes and surprise, the ketchup that accompanies the flavorless fries is extra (but it’s a surprise when you make the bill). And finally, seeing 4 tables leave before ordering or even just trying to find out about table availability, was perhaps a sign. Frankly disappointing, there is no point in opening a restaurant if it is to receive such a welcome, you can simply change jobs.

At first glance the restaurant may seem attractive but appearances are deceiving! The welcome took us to Greenland because it was so cold. Courageous as we are, we still ordered 2 typical dishes, namely the stamppot and the kroketten! Very disappointed to have finally paid for a mashed sausage and 2 poor croquettes with frozen fries (with industrial mayo at an extra €0.75 otherwise it's not funny). I sincerely believe that this is the worst service I have had in my life! Finally we should have taken the example of the many people who left the restaurant before ordering. In the end we had the right to... nothing, not even a goodbye (perhaps it was paid for too). Go on your way and go eat something worth it!

Wir waren für einen kleinen Snack hier. Das Essen war gut und auch Preis-Leistung war ok. Aber - vermutlich der Chef - war sehr unfreundlich und unprofessionell in der Bedienung. Zwar war eine Dame bei der Abrechnung sehr nett, aber das kompensiert leider den Chef nicht…. Zu Bitterballen und Pommes wäre ein Besteck schon schön gewesen…

Our criteria were simple: authentic Dutch. And Rozenboom did not disappoint. The dishes were all outstanding, the service excellent, and the atmosphere genuine. Absolutely worth the trip. Note: two couples were turned away from tables because they only wanted to drink. This is a restaurant, not a bar. Their wine list is the opposite of extensive: one white, one red, both excellent housewines.

Cozy place, but all the staff, while not rude, were giving us the unwelcome vibes that we really shouldn’t be here at all, while being friendly with other European/American diners. Very disappointing.

I made a reservation through Google Maps, but it was canceled unilaterally. I received a cancellation email without giving any reason. It's a shame because I was looking forward to it. I was sad that I couldn't make reservations at other restaurants that looked good because it was last minute.

Small traditional Dutch restaurant. The place is small and has an old fashioned charm. The food is good, with many loved old Dutch dishes. I had the Pea soup to start with was good, then endive Stampot again, good but not 1st class. It can get very busy at peak times. So best to book.

I found this little gem by chance and immediately chose to have dinner, only reading the excellent reviews the following day. I agree with the positive reviews, especially because in addition to the food, the location deserves it. Considering the cost of living in Amsterdam, the cost of 40 euros for a full dinner (small shared starter, 2 courses each + dessert) is honest and more than deserved.

We had a bad experienced in this restaurant. We approached the Lady if we could dine in and told her we have kids and a troller, also we asked her if we could serve our daughter rice because she do dot eat dutch food. )she is autistic and she is not familiar in dutch food) she agreed. While eating she keep looking on us and give us bad look. And while eating she come to our table and told us to clean the floor. (It’s already dirty when we arrived) we are very disappointed and mad at the same time. We dine there to try local food but we got humiliated. Highly NOT recommended.

Despite the welcoming and inviting atmosphere of the place, we had the misfortune of being seated under a staircase. This closeness not only made the space a little cramped, but also created a feeling of discomfort during lunch. It would have been preferable to enjoy a little more space and comfort. Despite this small inconvenience, the overall experience was positive and I really appreciated the quality of the food and the friendly service of some of the wait staff. Although the layout of the tables could be improved, the restaurant still remains a good choice for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic typical dishes in a welcoming and unique environment.

My daughter and I visited this charming restaurant. Fast service and the bitterballen and apple pie are highly recommended! If you take a seat upstairs you have a nice view of the street. We will definitely come again. 🌹

Nice atmosphere walking in. Had character. food nice and traditional. Things got a little uncomfortable when I miss heard the waitress and accepted food that wasn't ours. Although I offered to pay the inconvenience caused them to point and made my daughter feel uncomfortable throughout the meal. A real shame as up until that point we were really happy to have stumbled across this place.
