We want to try traditional Dutch food. This is a good choice of the day. The Stamppot was amazing and the potion was very generous.

Delicious dinner on a rainy evening. We were welcomed and seated right away. We both ordered salmon with mashed potatoes and baked tomato asparagus and haricots verre. We had been missing vegetables recently and this satisfied everything. Reasonable price, good service and nice atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

The set menu is very well balanced. You get to sample some of the local cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. It's a bit warm inside, but it's wonderful.

The staff is wonderful and super attentive. The food is delicious and authentic. I highly recommend it.

We enjoyed the traditional dishes and desserts. We always come here with my wife to have a meal together.

Got the weekly special which was the T-bone steak; looked good but was as tough as shoe leather. Could barely cut it let alone eat it. Staff could not have cared less; my fault for not sending it back immediately. I literally was roughing it out. Chocolate cake was good, but my €37 definitely could have been spent in better places. Try the Van Beeren or Loetje. Better service and to die for steaks.

The place is quite small, so the tables are very close together, and some are truly tiny. We ordered two appetizers and a main dish to share. Personally, I found the mashed potatoes served with salad a bit peculiar, as were the famous meat croquettes, which actually contain much more béchamel sauce than meat. To finish, we ordered an apple pie and mini waffles. Of the two, I definitely recommend the latter; the apple pie, however, was a disappointment, served cold and tasting rather strange. Overall, I wasn't thrilled with this place. However, I recommend booking through TheFork to take advantage of the 50% discount: at least there's one silver lining! :)

The shrimp croquettes paired wonderfully with the beer, and the staff were very kind and attentive. However, I was a little puzzled as to why we were seated at that particular table. Overall, the food and service were good, but the seating arrangement was somewhat disappointing.

A good Dutch restaurant in the center of Amsterdam. We tried the mixed appetizers, both hot and cold. Both dishes were delicious and, more importantly, offered a taste of several Dutch specialties. The apple pie was also delicious, even though it's served cold (which was specified on the menu). Arriving around 7:30 PM, we quickly found a free table, although the place is very popular and reservations are recommended. Fair price.

We arrived around 4 pm with eight people without a reservation and were seated immediately. I ordered set menu 1. For a starter, I had the pea soup, which was incredibly delicious but also quite filling. My main course was the vegetarian "Stamppot Hutspot" with butter sauce, which was equally excellent. To finish, we had the poffertjes, which were a perfect ending to the meal.

Walking into de Blauwe Hollander felt like walking into a traditional Dutch home. I’m so glad we did! We made a 7pm reservation and were seated promptly. For tourists- the staff speak perfect English so if this is a concern for you don’t worry. The restaurant itself held a lot of charm and Delft blue. They had a large window and some outdoor seating. Our waitress was friendly and attentive while answering any questions we had perfectly. They had a three course tasting menu so I ordered the pea soup, hutspot, and poffertjes. The pea soup was one of the best I’ve had- rich with a deep depth of savory flavor. Large chunks of hams and peas. Definitely worth it for a bowl! The hutspot was also exceptional with exceptionally creamy potatoes and flavorful gravy. The meat was a little fatty but not overwhelmingly so. Finally, the poffertjes were excellent as well. Perfectly chewy and the ice cream they serve went along great with it. Definitely check out De Blauwe Hollander but make sure you make a reservation!

Among my favorites in Amsterdam because they specialize in local cuisine and we finally found a menu in Spanish. It has an outdoor terrace. High-quality ingredients, beautiful presentation, and generous portions. For dessert, I had three vanilla ice cream balls with rum-soaked raisins and meringue. The service was quick and the staff was especially friendly. They spoke to us in Spanish. I recommend the tomato soup and the pea soup, the Slavinken (a meatball wrapped in bacon, served with delicious boiled potatoes, green beans, and sauce), and the fresh Dutch herring with beetroot and spring onion salad. Stop by this place and enjoy some Dutch food. You'll love it.

We went to try some Dutch specialty dishes. Even at 8 pm, there were still many people waiting, so it's a popular place and reservations are a must. We had a stamppod, which is mashed potatoes topped with something like a beef patty. It wasn't too salty, so even the kids enjoyed it. They also had a simple watercress salad, which wasn't on the menu. It was the perfect size for sharing.

A great experience for sampling Dutch cuisine. Located on a restaurant street near the Van Gogh Museum, it's worth a visit. The atmosphere is a bit chaotic, but that's okay! The bill was good too!

Great traditional Dutch lunch with the family!

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with the food. I ordered the entrecôte steak and specifically requested it to be cooked medium rare, but it was served well done. This is a basic cooking standard that a chef simply shouldn’t get wrong. Additionally, the pepper sauce served with the steak was not actually pepper sauce, it was a completely different sauce

I was able to get a seat right away at peak dinner time. I got the stamppot. The food was really good.

Finding such authentic Chinese food in the Netherlands is truly touching! The braised chicken in a large plate was cooked to perfection; the chicken was tender and flavorful, the potatoes soaked up the rich sauce, and paired with green and red peppers and onions, the savory sauce perfectly replicated the taste from back home. The portion was generous and filled the plate. The spicy duck blood soup was glistening with red oil, the spiciness and savory flavor perfectly balanced, the tripe crisp and the duck blood tender and smooth—a generous use of high-quality ingredients. The dishes weren't modified to cater to foreigners; they retained the authentic, hearty flavor of Chinese cuisine. The restaurant clearly puts a lot of effort into controlling the taste. Finding such a reliable Chinese restaurant in a foreign land soothed my homesickness. The price and taste are both excellent, making it a top choice for overseas Chinese seeking comfort. It's already on my list of places I'll definitely come back to!

What we had was a complete disappointment, unfortunately. The potatoes were very hard and unsalted, the meat tasted more like cafeteria food, and the steak was described as having "mushrooms," but there were none to be found.

Good food, especially the stamppots

On July 5, we had dinner with our family at this restaurant. We are very pleased with the quality of the dishes, the aesthetics of the presentation, the speed of service and the very friendly atmosphere of the restaurant. The restaurant is small, but very cozy. The liver with apples and onions was incredibly tasty! Juicy, well-cooked. The steak and sausages (kale) were in no way inferior 😊 Everything is delicious, fresh. The portions are generous 😊 We are full and satisfied. So delicious that we didn't even order dessert 😊 I apologize. Thank you to the entire restaurant team.

I'm very disappointed. We were looking forward to a nice dinner. First of all, we received a message about an hour beforehand asking if we could still keep our reservation. Since we were out and about, we didn't see it, and when we went to sit at our reserved table, we had to wait because there wasn't one available. Having already eaten in the food halls earlier, I thought a starter described as "substantial" for €21 would suffice. What a joke. Five slices of ham, five slices of sausage, and ten small pieces of cheese with cheap mustard from a tube, plus a small bread basket. It was the most expensive "nothing" I've ever eaten. After that, I ordered a burger, which wasn't particularly good either. All in all, a real disappointment. The waiters were trying, but they weren't exactly old-school. I'm surprised by how busy this place is.

The place is very pretty, with a typical Dutch feel thanks to the paintings. It has long tables that are perfect for small groups to sit together. The waiters are very friendly and even spoke Spanish. The food is delicious, just like it looks in the photos, and be sure to save room for dessert—the apple pie is exquisite.

Where you go, you eat. Blauwe Hollander is a good place to stop for traditional Dutch cuisine. We tried two versions of hutspot, one with meat and the other with sausage: simple, home-style dishes with straightforward flavor. A good experience, with prices that make it worth trying. This style of cuisine isn't entirely to my liking. The service was adequate and the atmosphere was relaxed.

Our first time trying traditional Dutch food and had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. Would recommend it to future guests. Try booking on The Fork for a potential discount depending on your time and party size.

My first time trying Dutch food. We ordered one pea soup, one round croquette, and one kale potato salad with sausage, and shared them. Everything was delicious. The pea soup, in particular, was very tasty with bacon in it. We were able to enjoy a leisurely meal. The portions are quite large, so I recommend ordering several dishes and sharing them.

An absolute must-visit in Amsterdam. The boerenkool stamppot (kale stamppot) was outstanding—perfectly textured mash, rich gravy, crispy spekjes (bacon bits), and a smoked rookworst. Pairing it with a local Brouwerij 't IJ IPA was excellent, and they topped the meal off with an awesome apple pie for dessert. The service was completely on point, and the food arrived incredibly fast. Highly recommended!

We wanted to try traditional dutch food in amsterdam and found this lovely dine in restaurant. We didn’t have reservation and it was full. But we managed to find a table for 2 outdoors- since it was nice and sunny we enjoyed sitting out. It’s in a very popular area so can get busy in evenings. We tried pea soup with bacon and rye- very comforting and would definitely comeback to have this , we also tried bitterballen- which was okay. We had Stomppot as main course - meatball with bacon bits- that was a lovely meal. Would highly recommend to try this place for good authentic Dutch cuisine.

Location & Atmosphere: The restaurant is located in the heart of a lively pub district in the tourist area – ideal for immersing yourself in the Amsterdam atmosphere right after arriving. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Food & Service: They serve down-to-earth, traditional Dutch food, which was truly delicious. If you want to try authentic local cuisine, this is the place to go. The staff was also incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel welcome immediately. Conclusion: A thoroughly enjoyable evening and the perfect choice for our first day. Highly recommended!

Nice place, in the middle of the touristic boulevard, has all the Netherlands recommended traditional food to try. Prices are high for the portion given. We got Stamppot. The sausage one was better than the meat ball in my opinion. Of you want to try any of the traditional tastes come by.

The Ducth Stamppot dish is good down home cooking. Tender slow cooked beef with mashed potatoes, carrots, and onions all mixed togeather. A good tasty combination. Wonderful beef gravy and and real mashed potatoes no imposters here.

We were aiming to eat dutch food and had picked a place on Google maps, but when we arrived, there was a large group trying to get in. The street is filled with restaurants and this one is directly across from the one we originally picked. We were seated immediately and the food we ordered came fast and fresh. We each ordered Stamppot - one with meatball and endive and mine with sausage and kale. The aforementioned vegetables are blended with mashed potatoes and the meat served on top. These were very filling and satisfying meals for lunch. We each ordered a glass of wine to drink with our meals as well. Both were good choices.

Good food and a nice atmosphere

A completely serendipitous find. It's obviously a tourist-dependent restaurant, but they're honest about what they offer, and the service is excellent thanks to a Spanish-speaking waiter on staff. Plus, it's not crowded, the atmosphere is relaxed, and the kitchen is running at a good pace.
