Really amazing if you want to try dutch food! They also offer a start, main course and a dessert menu for a reasonable price!

Never had such an uninspired sauerkraut stew before. I can do this better myself. It was actually just potatoes and the sauerkraut was hard to find. Not even a juniper berry used. Hey, sorry about this. The sausage was tasty, unfortunately they put a rather unappetizing gravy over it. Not recommended and certainly not worth 17.50.

Simple traditional cuisine of excellent quality, excellent hospitality and good service.

A very perfect restaurant that serves authentic Amsterdam food. we went there twice to eat. delicious food, soft, tender meat combined with very delicious potatoes. for a creamy soup with bacon in it (the soup wasn't thick on our second visit). rissoles are not too bad. the service is very friendly and helpful. the dining atmosphere is very cozy and warm, the room is not too big but enough so that it is not crowded.

Very nice, intimate and evocative environment. Very tasty and well made typical Dutch dishes. Friendly and present staff without ever being intrusive. The only advice I can give to customers is that if you choose the chocolate cake, ask for it to be microwaved for 30 seconds. Trust me.

This restaurant was highly recommended by a colleague, and it was on point! The hostess was incredibly sweet and accommodating. I loved the modern take on traditional Dutch recipes. My friend and I shared an appetizer plate. The croquettes were both crispy outside and heavenly soft on the inside. The pea soup was very hearty, packed with flavor. The real mashed potatoes made with milk, saucy banger, and rich gravy remind me of grandma's cooking. The warm apple crumb pie, which was not cloyingly sweet, with real whipped cream was a perfect way to polish off such a delightful meal. I would highly recommend this place!

The restaurant is located in a very touristy street/neighborhood. This is also evident from the English-speaking staff/customers. The pea soup has a nice structure but lacks flavor (tip: add more celeriac and use a good stock).

This was the only bad impression I had during my trip to the Netherlands. The best place in Amsterdam if you want to try the tasty Dutch specialities with fresh ingredients and a touch of elegance and lightness in the preparation. They offer a wide variety of Stamppot (potatoes and vegetables served with meat, meatballs or sausage) and amazing starters like the bitterballen (fried meatballs with mustard) and soups. Delicious desserts (poffertjes) and a fine selection of beers and wines will complete your meal. This place is not expensive: for a starter, a main courses and a beer you will pay about 32 euros.

We arrived early on a Saturday night, which is the thing to do if you don't have a reservation. I ordered the € 26 meal (appetizer, main, dessert), while my husband and son ordered the € 32 version (fancier choices of the same 3 courses). They got beers; I ordered a small bottle of water. Our total bill was € 108.50. I ordered the split pea soup, the stamppot with carrots and onions, and the yogurt/custard dessert. The soup was good, the dessert was very good. My quarrel with the stamppot is that the beef was not lean. When one bites into meat that is covered with sauce, she does not expect to discover inedible pieces of fat to deal with. My bigger complaint is the all-caps "TIPS ARE NOT INCLUDED" line printed in English (almost everything else on the receipt is in Dutch) at the bottom of the bill. No... "tips" are not included, but the service charge is, and that's what allows servers in Europe to earn an actual living. Yes, if your server did an outstanding job, you can leave him/her a tip and it will be appreciated. But the way this was written suggested to me that the restaurant was trying to mislead its English-speaking customers.

During our stay in Amsterdam we ate at this place without a reservation. We waited a few minutes and they immediately found us a table. We tried the stamppots! The one with the meatball was excellent, while the one with the "beef" the meat was a little tough, we expected it to be softer. The dessert (chocolate cake) was also excellent. The only flaw was that they placed us in front of the entrance door of the restaurant so every time someone entered or left we got cold. However, the waiters were very kind in apologizing several times. Quick service.

Very good place to try and enjoy typical Dutch food... Very well served, lots of different, intense flavors, some somewhat acidic... Taking into account that it is a totally different culture, its flavors (I say) lack that emotion that it has. The Latin flavor.

I visited around 5:30pm to eat Dutch food for dinner. I was alone without a reservation, but they happily prepared a table for me. I had mung bean soup, mashed potatoes with stewed beef on top, and hot tea. There was a dinner set, so it was easy to order even for those who were unfamiliar with it. All the dishes were simple and delicious. I wanted to try dessert, but I ended up feeling a lot more hungry than I expected, so I gave up.

Good Dutch food, but without much variation beyond the traditional stamppot. For those who want to try the dish, it is a good recommendation. Friendly service and pleasant atmosphere.

Il cibo in compenso era molto buono. Credo sia stata sono una coincidenza sfortuanta dato che gli altri tavoli hanno ricevuto tutto relativamente in modo rapido.

First time in the Netherlands, my cousin invited me to eat at this restaurant. Everything was good, even though we were a little late 15 minutes. However, my cousin already informed the restaurant about the delay. Even for me, who likes to eat, this is quite large. A Dutch specialty that is worth a try. Stamppot beef.

Really enjoyed our meal, in an area where theres lots of choice, this restaurant is unassuming from the outside, we walked passed twice before making our way in and glad we did, the food was excellent and the service was great, portion sizes were spot on and prices were reasonable considering the location

On my second day in Amsterdam, I was in search of authentic Dutch cuisine and came across De Blauwe Hollander. The bitterballen stood out with its perfectly crispy exterior and soft, flavorful filling. I was so pleased with the food and service that I decided to return the very next day. On my second visit, I opted for the set menu, which included a rich pumpkin soup and a traditional stamppot. To my surprise, a staff member, Cate, recognized me right away and made my experience even more special. She seated me at a lovely table by the window and recommended the most authentic stamppot options. The pumpkin soup was creamy and full of flavor, but the stamppot stole the show. The dish featured soft, flavorful mashed potatoes paired with a delicious sausage that made every bite memorable. I highly recommend De Blauwe Hollander to anyone looking for an authentic Dutch dining experience. We were so hungry after the Rijksmuseum that we went into the first ‘Dutch’ restaurant that we could find that wasn’t fully booked out. We’re glad we did! We all ordered different things and it was all phenomenal. The service was a little slow but nothing too bad.

Desde el momento en que sube las escaleras se siente bienvenido por el personal. Son fantásticos para explicar el menú y tienen varios especiales disponibles además del menú. No puedes pasar por el puré de papas y salchichas con mucha salsa. Pero si eso no es de su agrado hay carnes más tradicionales disponibles. Claramente merecen su premio TripAdvisor para 2024.

We took the menu and it was great. The soup thicker than expected. I like stampot a thousand times more without sauce. But in general a good experience, everything was very delicious and a very extensive menu for dinner.

Very nice place to try traditional Dutch food. Good food at a reasonable price. We arrived without a table reservation but got a seat by the door. It was a busy afternoon but the staff were still friendly. I ordered the Stamppoot with sausage and bitterballs for starters. A rather simple presentation of the food for me, it might have been good with some greens on the side.

We arrived around 4.20 p.m. and were seated but told our table was reserved for 6. We ordered dinner quickly and enjoyed our meal but at 5:40 p.m., a server came to our table every 2 minutes to physically pull on my plate which I was actively eating.(I had two bites left. My companion had not been served his tea yet and they didn't have the bill ready, they just tugged at my plate. We left at 5:48 p.m. They could have handled this better. Will not go back.

I visited on a Saturday in early November. The pastry across the street and this shop became crowded after 6 o'clock. The things I ordered were pea soup, shrimp croquettes, and stamppot with sausage. Stamppot has a large amount of mashed potatoes at the bottom, so I was too full to eat it alone. There were many people who only asked for a stamppot and alcohol. If you are concerned about quantity, I think croquettes should be a lower priority. The pea soup was quite mushy. I think it's worth eating as a souvenir. The waiter was also very friendly. I almost regret not tipping. I'm very satisfied. thank you very much!

This was an amazing place to eat. I travel solo and try to find authentic places to eat. When I walked in I was immediately seated even though it was very crowded. The staff were very helpful explaining the menu and I was so comfortable I told them to order for me. The food was amazing and had a great time. Highly recommend trying this spot out.

Restaurant with traditional food. For starters we had Home made cheese croquettes. Then we ordered Endive "mashed potato" (it',s mashed potato with endive pieces and it comes with meatball), Slavinks (meatball rolled in bacon, served with green beans, boliled potatoes and sauce), Homemade vegetable tart (cheese croquettes served with a fresh salad). Everything was veery tasty. The staff was very friendly. We had a good experience.

If you go for typical dutch "stampot met andijvie" you will certainly enjoy it here. I think service could be a bit better as it was not so busy and we still had to wait long to pay. The interior is missing some typical dutch items, that could be an extra adding to atmosphere. Overal solid 4/5!

This is truly the worst 'Dutch' food restaurant I ever tried. As a Dutchman I am appalled and shocked that this was brought to our table. I ordered an 'Entrecote, medium rare'. At first I got an entrecote which was well done, so I sent it back to the kitchen. Then, after about 30+ (!) minutes I got a 'steak' (see photo) which looked like it was boiled, and not baked or grilled at all. Where is the maillard reaction ? grilling stripes ? Baking browning ? Nothing. It tasted like boiled meat aswell, so I am assuming that was just it: boiled meat. Terrible! After complaining with the manager he took the dish of the bill and offered us free desserts. Nice gesture for sure. However, when we got the bill, the entrecote was still on there and only after telling them again they took it off. I have never eaten such a terrible 'boiled' steak. Do NOT eat there. There are better options in Amsterdam for sure. Fire that chef! He doesn't belong in a kitchen!
