If you want to eat authentic Dutch food, this restaurant is a must. Everything was delicious, our waiter spoke quite good German and explained the specialties to us. The staff were incredibly friendly and funny. Unfortunately, the restaurant isn't very big, so it's best to reserve in advance (I'm not sure if that's possible).

We wanted to try local cuisine before leaving Amsterdam, and after trying 3 other spots, we could get a table here. The bitterballen were tasty, but the mains were so bland I’d rather have IKEA meatballs. After reading the reviews, I ordered an apple pie, hoping that it would elevate our experience but it was just okay. Based on my experience, I'd recommend sticking to international options in Amsterdam since all of our other experiences were at least pleasant.

I came here because a local shop recommended it as one of the best Dutch restaurants, but instead I left deeply disappointed and uncomfortable. Worst experience in Holland ever! Absolutely unacceptable behavior in 2025. Shame on you! ————— After reading the restaurant’s response, I am even more shocked and offended. Instead of acknowledging the issue, the owner publicly dismissed my experience, implied that I was “unreasonable,” and even threatened to “make a report to Google.” This kind of defensive and aggressive reply is exactly why I felt discriminated against in the first place. The problem wasn’t just the long delay. It was the clear difference in treatment, the lack of apology, the excuses, and now this hostile response trying to invalidate a customer’s experience. A professional restaurant would have addressed the situation sincerely, apologized, and taken responsibility. Instead, this restaurant chose to gaslight the customer and frame the issue as if it was my fault. Being told that “we have many Asian customers so we cannot be racist” is not an explanation. It is a textbook example of avoiding accountability. This response only confirms how little they understand about fair service, respect, and basic customer care. I hope future customers—especially travelers—won’t have to go through the same treatment.

Despite not having a reservation, we were warmly welcomed and after 10 minutes, we were shown to a table. I enjoyed a delicious, hearty endive stew. Afterward, we didn't just have coffee, but also enjoyed a very pleasant after-dinner drink. In short, I had a fantastic time enjoying a delicious and cozy appetizer, coffee, and drinks.

The location where this restaurant is located has plenty of Italian restaurants. There is a famous Italian restaurant by the side of it and a couple right in front of it. When I ate here the place was empty. The other restaurants were full but I took a chance and decided to eat here. I was in the mood for pasta and I didn't want to wait a long time for my food. The waitress was very nice and took my order right away. I wanted spaghetti Bolognese and a coke. I expected spaghetti and meat sauce. But I got spaghetti with tiny meatballs. They tasted good. I liked my plate and my conversation with the waitress. Overall the service was great and the food was good. I will definitely come back and try something else.

My partner and I had dinner there yesterday and today. A very friendly Uruguayan waiter served us, which is why we came back. The food was exquisite, and the place is beautifully decorated. Everything was perfect; definitely a place not to be missed.

The staff were very attentive and helpful. I originally wanted to order a steak and a pork chop, but the waiter kindly reminded me that I might not be able to finish them. Thinking about it, he was right, so I ordered the steak first. And indeed, I couldn't eat anything else. The steak was well-prepared, thickly cut, and cooked to a perfect doneness.

We went in because there were people waiting in line outside for nearby places. I don't know why those people didn't just come to De Blauwe Hollander. The service was friendly and good (with a native Spanish-speaking waiter, too), the food was honest and just what we were looking for after a long visit to the Rijksmuseum. I'm glad we chose to go here. Some interesting beers, too, which added to the jollity.

This is a wonderful restaurant with friendly, attentive service! We tried Fresh Herring (pickled herring), Dutch shrimp croquettes, Bitterballs (Dutch beef croquettes), and Stamppot meatballs. Everything was delicious, especially the pickled herring, which was incredibly fresh and odorless! My companion also loved the Bitterballs, and we shared the dishes in the Japanese way without a single complaint, so I highly recommend this restaurant. Their draft beer, Grolsch, is cold and easy to drink, even for Japanese people, so if you're a beer lover, I recommend the 0.5 liter bottle! This is a very popular restaurant, so I definitely recommend making a reservation.

We booked a table for 7pm with no troubles. We got right in. The service was excellent and felt very welcoming. The stamppot was incredible. I got the vegetarian and it was amazing. My partner got one with a meatball. The portions were generous. The veggie croquettes were also very good with an nice spicy mustard. My only regret is that we had no room for dessert. That homemade chocolate cake sounded so good.

Tried to get into The Pantry across the street but it was fully booked. This place looked decent and the reviews were good in an area where most of the restaurants are mediocre appealing to the tourist trade. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the food. The tomato soup was nothing special but the Stamp pot with carrots, onions and the Dutch version of pot roast on a big pile of mashed potatoes was quite satisfying. And the service was great. Worth a visit but not a special trip.
