We had a wonderful meal in a beautiful restaurant with friendly service, and even though it's vegetarian, it doesn't detract from the flavor. It was colorful and delicious.

The restaurant is located just outside the red light district. The place is quite large, with friendly staff. We ate well; the herring tartare was very good, as was the meat. The prices are slightly higher than average; for two, we paid €170 for a four-course menu.

Como dice el titulo: nada del otro mundo Se come mal? No. Se come " normal". Optamos por el menu de 71 euros y eso da para cuatro platos.. muy normalitos. Por ese dinero creo que puedes comer mejor en otros restaurantes. En nuestro caso fueron 3 pescados y 1 postre: nada de carne.

This place was recommended to us by our Dutch guide. Non descript location quite close to the city centre and always full of locals enjoying their meals. Not much tourists here. That being said the food was top notch and the service was welcoming. I've always heard mixed reviews for Dutch cuisine in general but when I tried it here, I would definitely give it praise (well deserved). If you want an instagram famous loud and edgie restaurant - don't go here. But if you would like Dutch hospitality and delicious food that warms your heart - do not miss this.

A delicious, stylish experience that calls for return visits. The atmosphere and general vibe are great. Likewise the location - easy to access. The seasonal menu offers modern Dutch food that is beautifully presented, and tasty. (Portion sizes exceeded everyone's expectations.) The wine list offers a sufficient variety in a price range that caters for all diners. Booking service was warm, flexible and efficient. Table service was exactly right! It was there when we needed it, but never intrusive to our celebration. The indoor / outdoor seating options and their cookbook also deserve a brief mention. Whether you are single, a table for 2 or a small group, the venue works and you'll find the layout discreet and comfortable. Thanks to Mienke and the team, and, of course, this dining experience is highly recommended. But book as well in advance as possible since it is popular!

Each dish is presented with great care. You'll delight in the flavors and freshness of the food. The chef takes great care to pair the perfect wine pairing. The staff is very attentive and friendly. There's an indoor terrace, which is pleasant in the summer; the atmosphere helps you enjoy the meal. I recommend making a reservation.

Came here for dinner on the recommendation of our canal boat guide and it did not disappoint! It was a quiet restaurant with a nice ambiance to it right on the water. The manager was our server and she was on top of it, providing suggestions and making sure we were happy. This meal was one of the best we had during our trip and the fixed price menu gave you options. Highly recommend!!!

Amazing restaurant in the locals tell me that they treat Dutch food in a very interesting way we found this to be a wonderful dining experience and ended up even buying the cookbook with the chef signature. If you want something authentic and delicious I would recommend this restaurant.

Encontramos el restaurante fácil de reservar en línea, no estábamos muy seguros de cómo iba a ser, pero pensamos en darle una oportunidad! Está situado en una calle lateral relativamente tranquila y nos sentamos afuera ya que el tiempo era tan bueno - ligeramente extraño como las mesas estaban junto a la puerta trasera de alguien, y la gente caminaba y andaba en bicicleta justo al lado de las mesas - bastante divertido en realidad. La comida se elige de un menú relativamente limitado, basta con elegir 3 , 4 o 5 platos. Por el dinero (pagamos 51. 5 euros por 3 platos) es realmente excelente. Muy bien presentado y todo sabía increíble - sin duda 5 estrellas. No puede culpar al chef de ninguna manera. El servicio fue un problema completamente diferente. Aunque perfectamente agradable, se sentía como si el personal de servicio tenía mucho que hacer, y toda la experiencia se redujo simplemente porque todo tomó mucho tiempo! Como ejemplo reservamos a las 7. 30 pm y acababa de terminar nuestro main a las 9 . 30 pm... ..parecía funcionar alrededor de una hora por curso! No es bueno en absoluto, lo que es una pena ya que este sería un restaurante de primera si pudieran resolver ese aspecto.

Disfrutamos de una noche relajante en Hemelse Modder.   El restaurante ofrece dos menús - un de temporada y un Chef's a partir de los cuales se construye una comida de tres ( 59 € ) , cuatro ( 61 € ) o cinco ( 69 € ) platos. Puede mezclar y combinar entre los dos menús. Optamos por pedir fuera del menú de temporada y fuimos con el Tarte tatin de espárragos verdes y guisantes con queso crema de jengibre, compota de jengibre y chalota marinada.   Perfecto comienzo de la noche que combinamos con un Sauvignon Blanc francés. Para el curso de sopa con ambos se eligió el caldo de tomate asado y tomillo, con tapenade de albahaca de pimentón y crutones de hinojo.   Los caldos surgieron con sabor de todas las especias, siendo los crutones de hinojo golosinas saladas con cada bocado. Para el ciurse principal elegí el filete de merluza atlántica frito en sartén con salsa de azafrán de mejillón, roseval, patatas fritas de roseval y rábano marinado. Mi esposa se fue con el filete de cordero a la parrilla con salsa de rábano picante, puré de raíz de perejil, raíz de perejil asado y zanahorias jóvenes.   El suace de mejillones realmente mejoró el sabor de la merluza y también fue agradable para sumergir las patatas nuevas que lo acompañan.   El cordero era un medio perfecto raro y se derritió en nuestras bocas.   Para el curso de queso probamos un vuelo de los quesos holandeses y franceses.   Me gustó mucho el queso de cabra holandés que era tan suave y cremoso.    El queso Bleu francés era excelente también. De postre fuimos con la mousse blanca y oscura.   Era tan decadente y presentaba una astilla de chocolate con leche. Pasamos alrededor de 3. 5 horas allí el servicio era excelente. El coursing fue lento entre la sopa y el plato principal y después del postre por lo demás excelente atención sin ser obstruyente. Creo que la cena fue excelente.   Probablemente un "one off" pero sin duda lo recomendaría.

We enjoyed a relaxing evening at Hemelse Modder. The restaurant offers two menus - a Seasonal and a Chef's from which you build a Three ( €59), Four (€61) or Five (€69) course meal. You can mix and match between the two menus. We chose to order off the seasonal menu and went with the Tarte tatin of green asparagus and peas with ginger cream cheese, ginger compote and marinated shallot. Perfect start to the evening that we paired with a French Sauvignon Blanc. For the soup course with both chose the bouillon of roasted tomato and thyme, with paprika basil tapenade and fennel croutons. The broths popped with flavor from all the spices with the fennel croutons being savory treats with each bite. For the main ciurse I chose the pan fried Atlantic hake fillet with mussel saffron sauce, roseval, roseval chips and marinated radish. My wife went with the grilled lamb steak with horseradish gravy, parsley root puree, roasted parsley root and young carrots. The mussels suace really enhanced the flavor of the hake and was also nice to dip the accompanying new potatoes in as well. The lamb was a perfect medium rare and melted in our mouths. For the cheese course we tried a flight of the Dutch and the French cheeses. I really liked the Dutch goat cheese which was so smooth and creamy. The French Bleu cheese was excellent as well. For dessert we went with the dark and white mousse. It was so decadent and featured a sliver of milk chocolate. We spent around 3.5 hours there service was excellent. The coursing was slow between the soup and main course and after dessert otherwise excellent attention without being obstrusive. I think the dinner was excellent. Probably a "one off" but I would definitely recommend it.

Very nice hidden gem around the corner from the busy Nieuwmarkt in Amsterdam. Good service and a delicious menu with many different options. Very good price-quality ratio! I especially liked the starters: Mackerel and oyster mushroom croquettes. It's also nice that they are open on Mondays, which is often a more difficult day to find a nice restaurant, so from now on my new favorite on Mondays!

Had a delicious meal at Hemelse Modder! We had the 5-course vegan and 5-course vegetarian menu, and despite it not being a vegetarian restaurant, the dishes were surprisingly good and well thought out. Dutch cuisine with a twist is beautifully reflected in dishes such as the broth of roasted beet, parsnip and hazelnut—simple, but really special. The celeriac pate and the chickpea biscuit were also popular. The wine pairing was well chosen, and the service was friendly and attentive. Fine dining without pretension, with surprising flavors and great attention to detail!

The food is absolutely delicious, and wine pairing cannot be better. However, depending on a day of the week, the place cannot be a bit noisy.

Visitamos este restaurante después de mirar hacia arriba en TripAdvisor. Está cerca de la frontera de la ciudad de China en Ámsterdam y a 1 km de la estación central. Y como en todos los lugares de Ámsterdam, encontrar un lugar para estacionar puede ser un desafío. Tomamos el tranvía en caminata unos 5 minutos. El restaurante ofrece menú de 3 , 4 y 5 platos a precio razonable. Estaba totalmente reservado en nuestra noche y la acústica del restaurante es buena. Los camareros son jóvenes pero experimentados. Una vez ordenado no tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo para la comida. Es cocina holandesa con toque moderno. Como postre, hay que elegir la mousse de chocolate (de ahí el nombre de Hemelse modder = barro del cielo).

The menu rotates and changes seasonally, using the freshest ingredients, techniques, and innovative cuisine. Always well prepared, and one of the better wine pairing restaurants out there. I have never felt anything but welcomed and appreciated by the staff.

Een bijzonder kerstdiner op 1e kerstdag in dit restaurant. We hadden voor twee personen gereserveerd. Een zeer vriendelijke bediening deed zijn werk voortreffelijk. Een keuze van het menu was eenvoudig van opzet. Per gang slechts 2 opties. Vega of vlees/vis Voldoende tijd tussen de gangen. En een royale keuze uit passende wijnen.

Would definitely recommend this place! Food is very good and service is excellent. I have celiac disease and they were very careful and knowledgeable with it. Have been to several Michelin restaurants before where the service was not as good as in this restaurant.

Beautiful dishes, with refined flavors. We took the 3-course seasonal menu for €49.50. An extra 6.50 was charged for the Venison Steak without asking. Service was friendly and gave us some time between courses. Table for 2 just next to the bar/service, with a look behind the scenes. Felt a bit pushed away, even though I reserved on time. Saw the waiter uncork a bottle of wine with his teeth. Without asking, the olives and pieces of melon/fruit that we received at the start and had not yet been completely eaten, were taken from the table. Nice atmosphere, that's for sure...

De heilbot smaakte vooral zout en had net zo goed polak kunnen zijn; misschien was het dat zelfs. De bouillon van langoustine was flauw, en de langoustine zelf leek in de vorm van een tampongeperst met andere specerijen. Het resultaat was droog en had een nare bijsmaak. Ook de friet was veel te zout. Kortom, een grote misser. Het ganzenbord was overgaar, en het kaasdessert viel tegen: flauw, niet bijzonder en zonder echte smaak. Daarnaast waren alle porties extreem mager. Dit restaurant is voor mij een absolute no-go; ik zou hier nooit meer heen gaan.

Sirven un menú fijo con una opción de 3 , 4 y 5 platos disponibles. El menú tenía una interesante selección de platos con opciones vegetarianas y veganas. La comida era muy sabrosa y muy bien presentado. Lo único malo que diría es que una botella de agua tranquila cuesta 6 . 50 que nos pareció una estafa completa. Lo recomendaría.

Hemos estado cenando en Hemelse Modder durante más de 25 años y disfrutamos de nuestra visita dominical para conmemorar su 40 aniversario. Los huéspedes van desde turistas (como nosotros de Londres) y locales y el comedor principal estaba ocupado. Ambos tuvimos la sopa vegetariana de hongos seguido de platos de lubina y ganso (que no se ven a menudo en los menús en estos días) con un lado de papas fritas - ambos eran muy buenos. Nuestros desiertos de pastel de jengibre y pastel de cuajada de mora eran moros. Compartimos una botella de rojo y 2 Armagnacs para redondear una gran comida. El servicio como siempre fue profesional y servicial. Dada nuestra larga (distancia y tiempo) asociación con este restaurante somos un poco parciales, aunque deben estar haciendo algo bien para haber durado 4 décadas.

we spotted you from across the canal, saw a happy group and investigated curiously. Thankfully there were a few tables available and we picked one near the happy throng. We were immediately charmed by the welcome and the interesting seasonal menu option. The food was very special, service too and the acoustic was good considering how busy and excited the restauarant was. Two hours later we knew we had had THE restaurant experience of Amsterdam.

Chocolate sauce and other deserts

On the "other side" of the RLD, a bustling place in a more quiet neighborhood. Pro: Most appreciated is a very flexible prix fixe menu for 3 or 4 courses, with plenty of choices. There is also a wine paring option, which I was glad to have taken. Some very interesting selections. Con: Only 2 people working the whole front of the house, which was an impossible situation. Could have been a meltdown, but these two handled with aplomb and good cheer. But, things were very slow. Still, what came out of the kitchen was on time even they were their own runners. Fair price for fine dining. Not stuffy atmosphere, but dress decently, please. Several corporate dinners of 8-10 people who were by definition loud and overall slowed things down for the whole place, but they pay the big bills.
