Superb meal where the guests are almost all Dutch. You have to stop to taste the typical dishes of Amsterdam. The welcome is also very warm. The dresses are simply a delight.

Very nice restaurant, very good typical cuisine. I wanted to try the mussels, they were good but the sauces that accompany them are certainly not the best combination, but this is a national issue...the apple pie however is stratospheric!!!!

We (2) showed up without reservation on a Saturday night and the manager was very kind helping us. The food was very good (good amount) and the place is cozy! Recommended.

I am utterly appalled by the shockingly rude, arrogant, and condescending behavior of the staff and management at this establishment. From the moment we walked in, we were met with an air of entitlement and disdain that was beyond anything I’ve experienced in years of living in the Netherlands. What was meant to be a lovely dinner to celebrate my brother and his wife’s first night in Amsterdam quickly turned into a humiliating ordeal we will never forget. As vegetarians, we were left with limited options on the menu and decided to order soup for dinner. Instead of accommodating our choice with grace and professionalism, the staff made it their mission to humiliate us in front of other patrons. Their sneering comments, dismissive attitude, and outright disrespect left us feeling belittled and unwelcome. It was clear they believed our choice to forgo mains made us unworthy of their time or basic courtesy. The good reputation this place seems to enjoy has clearly gone to their heads, fostering an atmosphere of entitlement and arrogance. To treat paying customers with such blatant disdain is unforgivable, and it speaks volumes about their complete lack of respect for their patrons. This was, without question, the worst dining experience I’ve ever endured. I wouldn’t wish such treatment on anyone. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. To the management and staff: you should be deeply ashamed of yourselves. This was more than just bad service—it was an outright display of cruelty and unprofessionalism. Avoid this place at all costs.

This place definitely deserves 5star with the service, taste, and really cool but still friendly people working there. We had real pleasure with the taste, apple pie with zimt ice cream worth to try, pie was warm that you can not finf everywhere. French onion soup and grandma soup had so uniquely touch. We loved this restaurant! It is a super curious place with a very random decoration, and with delicious food. We ordered the tomato soup and the pea soup first to warm us up, both were super tasty. For the main course we ordered the ribs that came with various sauces and fries, and the pan fried mussels, which I had never tried before and they surprised me because they were delicious, they also came accompanied by salad. In general, you could tell that the food was super homemade, and that the place is run by a family, plus there are a lot of local people eating there which is a very good sign. What I 100% recommend is to book in advance because it is always full, in fact there were people who went without a reservation and the wait was at least 45 minutes.

Ideal restaurant if you want to try typical food from here. Well priced for how good it is, highly recommended!!

Was a local rec and highly enjoyed it for Dutch food. Pea soup was excellent. Stampot was a heavy and warming meal. Love the flavours and vibe of this place. Chaps working there were very friendly and amenable. Would recommend! Best to book though because it’s not a big place!

La cucina è tipica. Abbiamo ordinato una fetta di salmone grigliato, servito con verdure, insalata e le immancabili patatine fritte con la tipica maionese ed uno stufato di carne, anch'esso accompagnato da verdure di ogni genere e una salsa di mela. Un bicchiere di vino, un acqua naturale e un espresso. Prezzo sui 50 euro, onestissimo vista l'abbondanza delle portate. Ci avrebbero incuriosito anche le Zuppe ma erano veramente abbondanti e non volevamo esagerare. Il personale simpatico e accogliente. Consigliata la prenotazione.

The ribs were delicious, the beef stew was mediocre, the lobster soup looked like it was soaked in flour, and the mussels were fishy.

During our stay in Amesterdam, we dined in here four times ordering different Dutch foods. Every time the food was delicious, the staff were super friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxing. Would recommend anyone looking for a great dining experience at a Dutch restaurant. I was impressed with how light and delicious their cream tomato soup was. Plus, they have a good selection of appetizers and desserts, and prices are reasonable.

We walked in on a very busy night without a reservation. The owner knew that it was going to be difficult for us to find a decent dinner anywhere since it was Christmas Eve. He was very accommodating and made it happen. We grabbed a drink at the bar while we waited for a table. Bartender service was good and friendly. When we sat we ordered the shrimp cocktail, beuff and stuff chicken. Each and every bite better than the last. But what made the meal at this authentic restaurant filled with locals was the positive vibes from everyone working!

The staff and management were shockingly rude, incredibly arrogant and condescending. I was appalled at how we were treated. After trying to order soup for dinner due to the lack of other vegetarian options on the menu, we were treated with such disrespect and condescension for not ordering mains. They went out of their way to make sure we were humiliated in front of other customers and we couldn't get out of there fast enough. It was a horrible way to start my brother and his wife’s first night in Amsterdam. This place came so well recommended and we were so disappointed to see that their good reputation has created such a sense of entitlement. Never, in the years of being in the Netherlands, have we ever experienced such horrible customer service. If I could give zero stars I would. You should be ashamed.

We had hearty, gourmet dishes in a somewhat kitsch but not unpleasant setting. The cinnamon ice cream was delicious but the apple pie was a little too thick and dry for my taste.

Such a cute cosy little restaurant that serves authentic Dutch food. We visited tonight from Australia and had a very tasty meal. I had the traditional meatballs with mash and gravy and my partner had the beef stew. Both very delicious and hearty. Perfect for winter! The staff were accommodating at fitting us in last minute and super friendly as well. Highly recommended if you’re wanting authentic Dutch food!

All the dishes we ate met our expectations. I recommend going there for dinner, the atmosphere is really nice. For us it was like this.

This restaurant came highly recommend by a colleague. I loved the decor. It's very cozy. One question I had was about the small carpets on tables. I hope they get vacuumed. The service was subpar, the staff had forgotten about us and we couldn't get our order in for over 20 mins. Then the waiter had forgotten to out our order in and it took and additional 30 min. The food itself was lovely, well at least what I had ordered. I really enjoyed the grandma's vegetable salad and a refreshingly salty plate of marinated smelts. I loved the mussels in a creamy broth. However, the Niçoise salad was an absolute joke. Apparently, the chef had never looked up a recipe before. It was missing several key ingredients. It's was a mushy mess with canned tuna a big blob of mayonnaise. Why would you ever do that to a salad??? Lastly, it took forever to get a check. So, my recommendation, check this place out for sure, but stuck to the restaurant specialties, don't venture out and try what you think are safe options, you'll be disappointed.

This is an absolute must. We had made a reservation for 8pm. But were already there at 7 p.m. They created a table for us and we were allowed to take a seat immediately. The food is excellent. The service is friendly and helpful, In short, we will definitely come back. Class.

We got there early without a reservation. Good thing too, because it was packed and people were turned away because there was no room. Had a great time sitting and eating.

During our recent visit to the establishment, we were immediately struck by the inviting and comfortable atmosphere. The bartender promptly noticed my interest in the extensive alcohol selection and promptly took our drink order. The menu offered a diverse range of options, and we commenced our meal with four appetizers and two main courses. The culinary offerings were truly delectable, including duck liver pate, snails in garlic butter, pea soup, a mixed seafood platter featuring smoked eel, salmon, and another fish, and pea soup. For our main courses, we opted for the prime rib (approximately 400 grams) and the Grandma's braised meat accompanied by mashed potatoes, vegetables, and homemade apple sauce.

Spectacular, nice atmosphere, good food, ensure your dessert only when you arrive, because they run out quickly, if you can, ask for a table near the window.

We really felt like eating here as the restaurant is always full. When we entered, we were surprised by a strange smell. At first we thought it was something fishy, ​​but it had a more sour undertone. The staff was very friendly and welcomed us warmly. The wine we were keen to try was not available and the substitute wine was reasonable. Not special, but ok. They also do not offer tap water, but only in a bottle. As a starter we had the snails and Dutch shrimps. These were fine. Again not special, but ok. For the main course we went for 2 house specialties: 'Chicken in the pan' and the 'creamy fish pot'. Unfortunately, both dishes were somewhat disappointing. The chicken was in a sauce that almost reminded me of Chinese sweet and sour sauce (you know the kind), and the meat was a bit tough in places. The fish pot was served with a mushroom sauce, plain tasting mashed potatoes and some vegetables. Everything was served at a nice pace, and within an hour we were asked if we wanted the bill. You notice that they want to fill the tables several times a night. Nice place with a cozy interior. What a shame about all the event posters on the wall. As a result, it gives away a bit of the authentic, old bar/restaurant vibe.

Estoy sorprendida por lo que nos pasó. Pedimos mejillones de entrante y estaban cadi todos cerrados. Los pocos que estaban abiertos estaban muy crudos. Se lo decimos al camarero y mos dice que los que no se abren es porque están malos y se los lleva todos. El resto de los platos que cenamos, sin más. Las verduras demasiado poco hechas y mucha grasa en el filete a la milanesa. Lo sorprendente es ,y cuál no es mi sorpresa, que a la hora de pagar, nos cobran los mejillones que no pudimos comer porque estaban mal. Nunca me había pasado nada igual. Como iba con mi hija y sé que le iba a dar vergüenza, no dije nada. Pagamos todo y nos fuimos. Como es lógico, no volveremos. Y no lo recomiendo.

Because the table we reserved was not yet available, we had to wait on the street. I've never been kicked out of a restaurant before sitting there. The phone to another restaurant had not yet been answered when we were taken inside. So just in time. Fortunately, the food and service were excellent and the evening was not further spoiled. Perfeft location, authentic atmosphere. Taste wise it was good, but portions are a bit small. If you don't have a side dish (like fries), difficult to be full. And my French guests did not like creme brule. But overall nice place, l will visit once again.

This place is capital CHARMing for the prefect De 9 Straatjes dinner. Scoured the city for mussels and found them here. The Dutch/French fusion makes for a great menu with classics such as Snert and Griesmeelpudding "just like grandma used to make". Service very attentive and friendly. Reserve ahead!

Lovely food, atmosphere , service and great value for money.

We ended up here on the occasion of my mother's 85th birthday. We regularly come to eat here from Friesland. The friendly service, the delicious food, the fireworks in her dessert, and the main course that she couldn't finish that she could take home so that she can still eat it today.... She enjoyed it and so did I!

We decided not to raise the issue since we were planning to leave a tip, but the situation left a feeling of dishonesty towards the guests. ▫️▫️▫️ Great restaurant with a cozy atmosphere and excellent local cuisine! Great food and exceptionally warm and friendly service. Some of the best service we have ever had at a restaurant. They were so hospitable and welcoming and accommodated us without a reservation on busy Saturday night. We had the beef stew and the pork schnitzel, both of which were delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and romantic with the perfect music playing in the background. This was definitely a highlight of our trip to Amsterdam and we would recommend for locals and visitors alike.

This was a really enjoyable restaurant for an authentic dinner. We arrived without a reservation, and the restaurant was packed. With luck, we were offered a table with an hour time frame, and we jumped on it! The Stomppot, split pea and french onion soups, and wine were delicious and the atmosphere and staff were incredible. We had a short few hours in Amsterdam, and the hospitality and joy of this place we will remember always!

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel, Amsterdam Wiechmann Hotel. We tried to get in our first night, but they were fully booked. A reservation is definitely needed. We made one for the following evening at 5:30pm. When we returned, Gabriel, our server remembered us from the night before. What a wonderful experience we had. We had such a great time, we booked another reservation and we were only in Amsterdam 3 nights! Between the 2 nights, we tried the local beer, snert, beef stew, ribs, fish, fries, apple pie, and more! The food was delicious and plentiful. We highly recommend this little gem.
