Don't go there! I don't recommend it. The old lady was rude and racist. She was not interested at all and play with her nails while taking our order. No eye contact and not professional. But while she serves other tables with dutch customers, she was very nice to them. About the food, it was low quality microwave / canned / frozen food. I'm curious, are the 5 stars ratings real ? I'm hoping they will take this complain serious and the next customers don't get the same bad experience like us.

Wonderful food!! We tried the Stamppot and Hollandse Rijsttafel, both delicious, order without fear!! Cozy and familiar atmosphere, all the staff are very friendly, it's really worth it!!

This place remains spot-on! I have been coming here for over 20 years now and it continues to 'come home'. Cozy and delicious!

Unfortunately they didn't allow me in because I didn't have a reservation. One couple in front of me got a table without reservation. They didn't even offer for me to wait. This was a Sunday night

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere with friendly service.

The place is very cozy but I didn't like the food at all, not even a simple salad had any flavor, we ordered the typical dish there, mashed potatoes, meatball and sausages, the mash was cooked with cauliflower and was super strong.

Small but cozy place, we went without a reservation but they still made room for us. Prices not as expensive as the rest of the places. Dutch home cooking, rustic but tasty. As a curiosity, it is full of photos of mothers, as the restaurant is called in Dutch (moeder=mother). I gave two stars for the atmosphere because the tables were very close together, but good like most restaurants there, being small places.

I love the concept of Moeders! Customers bring in photos of their moms to put on display in the restaurant. The whole place is adorned with pictures of the customers' moms to remind us of the women who raised us <3 The food is not bad as well. You get a homy vibe just like a mom's love <3 The owner and staff are super nice too! The conversations got so chill that my parents and my younger siblings even had shots with them! We will definitely come back with photos of our mom and grandma to feature

Restaurant literally translates to “Mothers” and the decor is filled with random pictures of random “Mothers”. Feels very warm and welcoming as soon as you walk in. The vibrance of the room continues on to the food. We got a mixed plate of all the popular items and trust me when I say that it feels as though your mother made it (if you had a Dutch mother that is).

Excellent service, delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. A must visit whenever you are in Amsterdam.

Don't order the rice dish, waste of money. The meat is so little and tough. Taste like instant food.

A truly unique place to understand Dutch culture and also food. Moeders has a very eclectic concept that makes you feel like you're inside the local culture with photos of mothers from all over the world. Homemade food is inspired by mothers' recipes with amazing flavour, truly generous portions and average prices. All the dishes we tried were delicious and very traditional. This place is a must for local food.

This place feels so special! The staff were super accommodating and friendly. Atmosphere was warm, lovely and loving and we got to try some comforting traditional dutch food too. Make sure to make reso in advance. The place is popular.

We found this restaurant through Google reviews and we honestly thought it was quite curious. Inside it is full of photographs on its walls and the cutlery does not match because it is cutlery that people have contributed. As for food, we ordered two typical dishes from the area, the beef stew that came with boiled potatoes and Brussels sprouts, and the stamppot that has sausage, meatballs and a kind of potato pudding. Everything was very delicious, although it is true that the dishes were very average, it is not clear to me if the food was very homemade. The waiter who served us was super friendly, he was from Amsterdam but from a Chilean family and he was explaining to us where we could celebrate New Year's Eve and even gave us a paper with some recommendations, a real love! It's nice to meet people like that.

We had a mixed dutch plate, the beef was great, but other dishes were so regular, nothing special taste. The service was not enough friendly, unfortunately… the pictures around the place makes it cozy. The desert with apple pie was just some ice cream&cream. The lobster soup was really great! Worth to try

Incredibly cool place! Love the concept. Ordered typical Dutch dish; Dutch Rijsstafel. The meat and potatoes were very good. Good amount of food for two.

We went to this restaurant twice on our 10 day trip. The first time was a fantastic experience. The food was excellent and the service was efficient and very friendly. A blonde woman with a short ponytail seemed to be in charge working with 3 young guys. We enjoyed it so much that we went a second time. Unfortunately the second time wasn’t as great and there was a totally different team on duty. The attitude was completely different. Our waitress was indifferent and looked like she couldn’t care less if we were there or not. If this had been our first visit we wouldn’t have returned. Team B could take some service tips from Team A. To end on a good note though, the salmon was excellent.

We ordered a rib dish which turned out to be inedible. The smell and taste were very unpleasant, so much so that we could not eat anything. After talking to the waiter, the waiter consulted the chef, and the owner came to our table. Unfortunately, instead of listening and looking for a solution, he simply told us that the dish was “normal” and that the problem was our personal taste. While I can understand that this is their usual way of preparing this dish, the smell was not normal, and I would strongly advise against anyone ordering it. The owner's reaction was particularly disappointing: instead of offering another dish or a commercial gesture, he insisted that he was not “angry” about our comment. Honestly, we weren't there to judge his mood, but to eat well, which was not the case. I do not recommend this establishment for its customer service management and the quality of this dish.

Starters were absolutely delicious. The bread with the dip was soo good. The pumpkin soup was phenomenal. We had the traditional Dutch dish, and like what some other reviewers mentioned, it was quite potato heavy 😅 Nonetheless, a really hearty meal and unique atmosphere. The main guy attending the door was also really understanding when we were late and we really appreciated it.

If you want to try classic Dutch dishes, you should visit Moeders. The interior is warm and cozy, and the food is delicious and very authentic.

This place has a very unique and beautiful story! I found it out on some Amsterdam guide text and honestly I just expected regular restaurant with local food. The story about celebrating motherhood and women is breathtaking. Whole restaurant is in pictures of women that friends, tourists and guests were bringing up through time. On the other side… food is not the best we had in Amsterdam, maybe we should’ve ordered something else. We had some plate with Netherland’s national dishes that was just potatoes at the end 😄

Nous sommes tombés par hasard sur ce restaurant très typique qui ne nous a pas déçus, le stamppot et le suddervlees étaient très bons ainsi que la tarte aux pommes. Je conseille si vous recherchez des plats typiques non touristiques.

Amazing service in a cozy vibe! They cater to any eater, the menu is interesting with clear dish explanations and there’s plenty of meat and vegetarian/vegan options. But I had better Dutch food, it was a bit bland and too salty for our group.

Given the good reviews, I booked from Italy a little in advance, to avoid wandering around looking for a place to have dinner. Very nice place, informal and relaxed environment; the cuisine is excellent, traditional dishes that are not elaborate, simple but tasty. Nice and kind staff. Paid the right amount.

Pea soup was surprisingly good, but the stamppot and the carpaccio were really bad. I completely don't understand how this restaurant has such a high rating.

The environment is a little disturbing with many photos of mothers, but it is very typical and the cuisine is excellent and perfect if you want to eat Dutch (we did Hard to find it anywhere else so good!!)

Restaurant gives off serious classic diner vibes and is super sweet with all the pictures of moms everywhere! Food wise, it’s serving up classic Dutch dishes with no frills and epic beer! Had the elderflower beer - great taste. Started with a pea soup that had delicious smoky sausage and came with a side of the softest bread with a creamy flavorful garlic/onion sauce. For mains got the “everything classic Dutch” sampler which was way more than enough food for two people (it’s charged per person). Highlight was the beef onion stew which packed the flavor and the apple sauce that cut the other dishes in the set. Great restaurant!

One of the best places I’ve visited on any trip. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing! The owner (I believe) is such a kind man! Will make sure to visit here each time I visit Amsterdam!

I was looking for real Dutch food and I found online The Moeders! My friend and I went without reservation for my birthday and luckily they were just opening the restaurant so they kindly took us, soon the place was full and I saw people outside waiting to get in. Amazing experience, the staff were very friendly and quick, good recommendations for food, dessert and flower beer. I loved the decor with portraits of women customers, atmosphere was warm and looked like a family business, food delicious. I will send my picture. Not sure if they have room for more pics!! 😅

Mi hermana de 65 años, mi hijo adulto y yo nos presentamos a cenar a las 8 pm después de la prisa de la cena, como se recomienda para conseguir una mesa. El lugar estaba ocupado, pero no lleno - había varias mesas abiertas en el patio climatizado también. El gerente se negó a sentarnos diciendo que no tenían nada disponible para nosotros incluso fuera porque no estaban sirviendo fuera. Le pregunté si podíamos hacer reservas - dijo que no tenía nada disponible para 1. 5 semanas. Salimos afuera y nos sentamos en el patio climatizado para averiguar nuestros planes y notamos que se sentó varios otros paseos - en la gente mientras tanto y cuando llevó cerveza a otra mesa afuera preguntó si querían una mesa dentro. ¡Quedamos impactados! Calificamos este servicio como extremadamente pobre.

We were looking for some nice traditional Dutch food on our trip and we were very happy at Moeders! We got the sharing dish and some lovely red wine. Service was quick and efficient and the atmosphere was very nice as it had pictures of mothers all around the venue.

Una de las paradas regulares cada vez que estoy en Amsterdam. Sirven platos holandeses tradicionales y con los años me he convertido en un gran fan del Stamppot! La suya es la mejor. Asegúrate de probar también los Suddervlees. El lugar también es muy bonito. Tantas fotos y detalles para mirar.

You are a little surprised when you first enter the restaurant because it is not a concept you are used to seeing. You must make a reservation. All the walls are full of pictures of mothers. After the cuteness of the place, you place your order to the mother waiters who work like bees and try to serve you. First of all, we tried the pea soup and it was very successful. Its aroma and the meats in it were in perfect harmony, and then we were told about the menu for two people, which included Dutch local dishes. They already have a menu based mostly on potato varieties. The side dish is kale and two types of meat. The food was wonderful. It was accompanied by house red wine. I definitely recommend trying it.

For someone who did not know a lot about Dutch cuisine, Moeders was an amazing place to actually learn and taste it. All the food was veery tasty and rich in flavor. I loved the ribs especially. I’d highly recommend this place to anyone who was as distant as me to the Dutch cuisine — now I’m craving the potato! :)

People tend to be dismissive of Dutch food, but on a cold day I was deeply appreciative of the split pea soup and the hotchpotch with sauerkraut. Both were delicious. And I had the amusement of going to the restroom surrounded by photos of mothers. Probably why the men’s stall was so clean.

We dined here for a week night dinner and found the spot quaint with a lovely interior. The service was nice, the food was delicious and they were kind to celebrate our anniversary. We would visit again, I especially enjoyed the cabbage slaw.

The service they provided was amazing. They were so calm ,polite, and quick with service . This was the first food I had and tried in Amsterdam, and I'm glad I chose to eat here. It was filling, and I will probably have another dish before I go.

I think it’s an amazing spot for tourists, and expats with visiting friends & family. The food is bland but it’s also typical Dutch food so that makes sense. There's limited vegetarian options. It can be a bit crammed with staff bumping against your chair. I would only recommend it if you want to give your non-Dutch friends a typical Dutch experience, but not for the food. The staff is very friendly though.

A charming little restaurant where we got to sample some traditional Dutch dishes. We opted for the Dutch rice dish (inspired by Indonesian sampler plates), and who knew sauerkraut and potatoes could be so tasty? Every bite was delicious. Definitely worth a visit for both the food and the cozy decor filled with nostalgic photos of mothers.

Tappa obbligatoria ad Amsterdam. Ambiente davvero molto carino, ricorda molto il calore dei ristoranti italiani. Personale davvero gentilissimo ed attento.. sempre con il sorriso! Abbiamo preso una zuppa del giorno ( zucca e zenzero), due primi piatti tradizionali. Suddevlees consigliatissimo, carne buonissima tenerissima, accompagnata da patate e cavolo cappuccio. Due birre ed acqua per un totale di 65€. Prezzo, personale , qualità del cibo ed ambiente rendono questo posto da inserire nella todo list!

How can you screw this up? Simmering meat, simmering liquid, herbs/spices bay leaf. This gives you a nice combination of cooked meat, red cabbage and potatoes. But what I was served was anything but this. Our last evening in the Netherlands with our children was a culinary disappointment. We do know that mom has lost her shine. “Did you enjoy it?” If you indicate that this is not the case, you will not receive a response, so do not ask.

Amazing. Try the Dutch menu items. We had the Dutch Ricedish that comes with a bunch of options to share (beef stew, potatoes, sauerkraut, sausage, applesauce, cabbage). Amazing! Service was also wonderful.

Moeders means mother in Dutch, so expect wonderful comfort food. I ordered a typical Dutch dish, typical sausage, mashed potatoes (very different from ours), cabbage and fries, all very, very good. Do you like good food? It's mandatory.

A must in the guides, a place with a particular decoration...photos of Moms who have passed through there......and of course a savory note for the dishes offered. Amsterdam is expensive and this is confirmed here. Be careful to book!! or wait on a bench opposite. If you have a small ticket....go for it

Such a wonderful place for a family style Dutch meal. Everything we ate was delicious and the atmosphere is so cute - especially for moms! This was our favorite meal in Amsterdam. Definitely get a reservation in advance.

Good restaurant to try traditional Dutch food. The place is very beautiful (decorated with photos of mothers that clients brought to honor them). I suggest that if you order the dish that includes several different foods, ask the waiter to suggest how to combine them. The soup of the day (in my case it was tomato) was also delicious. We made a prior reservation. If you wish, you can also specify that you want an outside table.

We shared the selection option which includes smaller versions of the Dutch classics and every dish was delicious. The staff were so welcoming and the restaurant itself is covered with photos of mother's which was very quirky. A cosy place, we were glad to have reserved a table in advance!

Wonderful Dutch food restaurant. The food is very delicious, they have a perfect option for tourists where they can try several of the Dutch specialties they have on their menu. Very friendly and attentive service. It is best to make a reservation because it gets quite crowded, although they have some tables outside where they also serve food.

Excellent service from the waiter whose mother is Chilean. The bar is called "mothers" and is full of photos of clients' mothers. We ordered the sharing plate that features regional food (stews, potatoes, beets, applesauce), it was delicious and abundant and well presented. 2 glasses of wine. Everything 46 Euros. I recommend it.
