Traditional Dutch family cuisine. It was delicious! Very friendly staff! Remember to save some space for dessert because the cinnamon cheesecake is really excellent! We hadn't booked so they offered us to go to the outside tables and have a drink while we waited for a spot to become available. Better to book to be sure. The decor is great!

The steak was thick, but hard to cut and chewy. The ribs were a bit fishy. The service is extremely slow. If you want to get a meal, you have to wait for half an hour. Then you have to wait for a long, long time to get the menu, order, serve, and pay. . . You can swipe your card and there seems to be a restroom. The store looks very historical and cozy, but it's quite small and crowded. When you eat, you bump elbows with people at the next table. . I happened to meet a store clerk preparing a birthday surprise for a birthday girl’s mother. It was very cute.

First class family restaurant. Ordered the hollandse rijsttafel and enjoyed it a lot. The granny's stewed and the beef stew with onions were superb. The meat was so tender. Hope to come again to Moeders next time in Amsterdam.

6 out of 5!!!! Make a reservation or get lucky! We got lucky!!!! The matron was kind enough to squeeze us into a packed restaurant with a fully filled reservation book. Was recommended by a local and absolutely loved the local faire. Vied for the sampler platter for 2 and it was delicious. All meats were super tender. Carbs flavorful. Greens fresh AG. Fin, our server, took amazing care of us, especially considering they were packed to the brim with patrons. Lovely and traditional Dutch experience!

Went on a Monday night and was able to walk in, got the hotchpotch and was incredibly satisfied. Food was great, drinks were great and staff was friendly. I would absolutely come back if I was coming back to Amsterdam.

A Taste of Dutch Tradition at Moeders Moeders is a charming spot to experience authentic Dutch food — the dishes are tasty, comforting, and give you a real feel for local cuisine. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which adds a lot to the experience. The street next to the restaurant is currently under construction, but honestly, it doesn’t take away from the visit at all. Even when it looks full, they’ll do their best to find you a table if there’s room. So don’t hesitate — just go and enjoy it!

The stampot with sauerkraut and bitterbollen were exceptionally good. They have heated seats outside!

Great welcome, discovery of local dishes. But we don’t really like Spanish wine, we prefer Merlot d’Oc.

I was looking for a place in the Jordaan neighborhood that had authentic Dutch dishes plus my eight-year-old daughter really wanted steak. This place was fairly priced and had excellent ambience with the walls covered with pictures. The service was friendly and efficient. The servers were helpful with questions and recommendations for the menu. I had the hopscotch with the spinach option and it was great. My daughter's steak was well prepared and she loves it. It came on top of spinach with gravey, which she thought was ok, but I really liked its savoriness. My favorite surprise was my dessert. I ordered Mother's coffee, which is similar to Irish coffee but with some Carmel waffles cookies (can't remember what they are called) and some candy pieces.

Come with a reservation if you want to be seated indoors. Food portion was huge for Asians like us so it was worth the price. You will definitely leave the place full. We had the soup of the day, mushroom soup which was served piping hot and delicious. Spare rib portion was enormous, it could probably feed 2 pax. The beef Stew was equally look and well seasoned. Only down side is that it's a small space so do be prepared to seat closely with other patrons.

Wonderful restaurant in a beautiful place in Amsterdam. Fantastic staff who really do everything they can to make it as good and fun as possible. Food is incredibly good and the wines excellent. Good atmosphere! This is what you are looking for, we will go there again soon.

A warm, family atmosphere, this atypical restaurant will welcome you with pleasure! Consider making a reservation if there are many of you or if you come during peak hours. We took: - Lobster Soup: the lobster was well infused, and pieces were present. It was very good! - The famous spinach “Stamppot” for my part (other choices of toppings are possible if you want to stay more classic): a treat and very hearty For dessert, two perfect Dutch “stroop” waffles, quite sweet but appetizing. Nb: you can bring a photo of your mother, they are still accepted if you want to leave a trace of her in the Netherlands 😇

I just moved to Amsterdam for work, and this was my introduction to Dutch food! It was so 'gezellig' and the food was, quite honestly to my surprise, very nice. Service was nice and the portions were also good. I would definetly take family and friends here when them come to visit in Amsterdam!

The restaurant is a bit crowded (plus the photos on the walls make it feel oppressive), but it is very warm (they will help guests celebrate their birthdays in Dutch). Although they all provide Dutch food, it's not very tasty. The beef stew was a bit woody, and the pickled purple cabbage and mashed potatoes were tasteless. Kraanvogel kombucha: Quite sour, quite like the Thai drink mangosteen juice

This mashed potato mixed with bacon sausage is the most representative home-cooked dish in the Netherlands. The authentic way to eat it is: put mashed potatoes on the bottom, top it with bacon sausage, and finally pour beef broth. You can choose mashed potatoes mixed with spinach, sauerkraut, or onions. The whole dish is rich in flavor and super filling! When I searched for this restaurant online, I saw a photo of green mashed potatoes. I had to order it. When I placed the order, I specifically confirmed with the waiter that the spinach was green, so I ordered the spinach flavor. The taste was, well, as good as mashed potatoes. But in order to experience the traditional taste, I ordered [Suddervlees]. Mr. ordered Dutch beef stew. Will be served with potatoes and beetroot. The beef stew is a very moist stew with a lot of soup. Taste slightly salty

We had such a nice time! Beautiful restaurant! With many memorable pictures. The food was good and enough compared with price. Great atmosphere! But the view was blocked with works in progress on the bridge.

The service, food, atmosphere, we loved everything about this restaurant! Especially the apple pie was extraordinary, it was amazing. I loved the idea of gathering plates or glasses from mothers from neighborhood. The restaurants were filled with the pictures of mothers!

Overrated place. Waste of time. Have never tried such uncooked and simply not tasty cabbage and potato 0/5 . Beef was not with promised sauce it was just simple boiled beef-that is it. It was not tasty. Lobster soup? - no idea why you like it 2/5

If you want to eat typical Dutch food, come here. I had the bitterballen for starter and stamppot, all washed down with 2 pints of Heineken. Friendly staff. One cool thing is that there are a lot of photos hanging on the walls (see attached photo to understand the quantity) of mothers, if I understand correctly you can come here and leave a photo of yours too. A bit of a weird idea but nice, come on

A place that leaves something to be desired, filled with photos of mothers everywhere, it conveys a slightly vintage touch, with a dark, gloomy atmosphere. Small place with limited spaces due to the excessive number of tables crowded together just to have an extra table I imagine...disappointing dish not so much for the food that could have passed but for the fact that having ordered the Dutch dish with more tastings of their typical cuisine I was served with 4 types of potatoes made in different ways, boiled, baked, fried, and pureed mixed with cabbage accompanied by red cabbage and cinnamon and two types of tender and good stew I must say, but bringing 4 courses of potatoes cooked differently seems like a joke to me. Otherwise expensive and nothing exceptional overall. Very disappointing. Poor value for money. I wouldn't recommend it.

Il primo pasto appena arrivati ad Amsterdam mi ha lasciato un ricordo negativo. Ristorante molto caro (lo abbiamo capito nelle sere seguenti cenando in posti molto più carini e centrali), cibi cucinati con approssimazione, poco attraenti alla vista e mal presentati. La birra alla spina era senza dubbio alcuno annacquata. Infine la scortesia della proprietaria che quando si è accorta che non abbiamo lasciato la mancia (non obbligatoria in Olanda) non ci ha nemmeno salutati.

Cosy restaurant with a short, traditional menu. They have a regularly updated set of specials with a catch of the day fish. The staff are very helpful, and the service is casual, relaxed and friendly. We did not feel rushed or hassled. The food was great, the dishes were chose where simple but exceptionally well prepared. Desserts were home made and a good portion size.

Coming here was the best decision ever! The service was incredibly kind, and the food was amazing. We had the Mama’s Happas and the Dutch rice dish—the meat was so tender, and the red cabbage and potatoes were delicious too. To top it all off, the cheesecake at the end made everything perfect. Simply delicious from start to finish!

The portions of the meals are large, but most of the dishes are served with potatoes, which are very repetitive and can easily make you tired. The lobster soup is delicious, the restaurant atmosphere is very good, a very homely Dutch restaurant

A veces esto puede llevar a una experiencia anticlimática pero nada podría estar más lejos de la verdad, no nos decepcionó. Nuestro servidor era muy amable y acogedor y la comida era fantástica, tanto el hotchpotch y el hachee eran una gran relación calidad-precio y grandes porciones para igualar! Nos fuimos absolutamente validados en nuestra elección y marcó el final perfecto para nuestro primer día en Amsterdam

RECOMMENDATION Looking forward to it based on the reviews, but disappointing. Unprofessional service, slow and even rude at times. Food is okay, but small portions for this price and little depth. We had to wait at least 30 minutes in the cold because our reserved table was not available. A lame excuse was given that we had not given up the baby, but all tables of 4 have 1 extra place for an upside-down baby, so yes. No compensation for waiting outside. Once at the table we had to ask several times to serve us. When serving, no patience to normally explain the menu to foreign friends, walk away, stand around chatting, etc. etc.

That was an amazing meal. We got the hotchpotch for 2. It was very good. The dishes were very savory and didn't disappoint. Thank you very much

Inside you get a warm cosy feeling and this is in line with the hundreds/thousands of pictures of visitors' mothers and grandmothers. We went on Valentine's Day and it added to the feelings of love. The servers were friendly and attentive. They helped with the menu and choosing options. It was interesting that the cutlery were different shapes and sizes as these were provided by locals. The fig and beetroot salad was excellent. I enjoyed the father's ribs which were easily one of the best I have tried in a long while. The wine selection was good and prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. The space inside is compact, but it adds to motherly feel and vibe. It is an experience to witness and more importantly very enjoyable.

Spectacular!!! Reserve before!!!

Because we didn't have a reservation, we arrived after 6pm, but had to finish eating before 7:30. However, for Koreans, 20 minutes from the time the food is served is sufficient time for a meal. The food was good and they were very friendly, but it's a shame they charge €0.95 for tap water.

It's a small place, but that only adds up to the cozy and homey feel of it. Trully good food, really felt like eating at a relative's place (highlight to the parfait!). Service was top notch! We had the pleasure to meet two friendly and helpful young waitresses, with great recommendation and guiding us throughout the meal ☺️

This is just my personal opinion. sorry. I think it might be good for those who are into it, but I didn't like it. It's also a good idea to ask for recommendations on Dutch cuisine. It's hard to come up with anything that's been recommended. After waiting, I honestly didn't like it. I'm confident that most things are delicious, but this time I left it alone. I really want to come back on my trip to the Netherlands, but I wonder if this is the right place? I thought. It was a reasonable response, so I left an appropriate tip and went home.

It was my first and only time trying the local cuisine, and it was an interesting mix of flavours and contrasts. It is definitely a must-try. Simple ingredients, bold flavours. The restaurant itself is iconic—walls covered in photos of Mum, tables so close together that it truly feels like home and an unmatched dining table that somehow makes the whole experience even more inviting. And the service? Excellent.

It has a very cute and friendly atmosphere. The food was delicious. Also, it was my friend's birthday, they made a gesture for us and put a candle on the dessert and served it to us. It was an incredibly warm and kind host 🙏🏻

What can you say about this place? It's truly unique, warm, welcoming and overrunning with history and emotions. Staff are mothers, and they have young kids working for them, everyone with a smile on their face but they expect order for sure! Go in with a kind and appreciative attitude and you will be treated as royalty. Huge portions of true traditional foods. Cannot recommend enough.

Highly recommend, we really enjoyed the ambience and the good service, everyone was so kind :) The food, everything was so nice and surprising, we discovered new amazing flavors. Also, it was my birthday and my girlfriend and the personal surprised me with candles, a "flare" and singing, we ended the day so happily🥰

Special place to try Dutch food. The place is exotic because it is full of photos of the attendees' mothers. The food is good and the service is friendly. It is advisable to make a reservation or arrive very early before they open to be able to find a table. The tables are very small and there is no extra place to leave your coat, bag or anything else you have in your hand.

Don't go there! I don't recommend it. The old lady was rude and racist. She was not interested at all and play with her nails while taking our order. No eye contact and not professional. But while she serves other tables with dutch customers, she was very nice to them. About the food, it was low quality microwave / canned / frozen food. I'm curious, are the 5 stars ratings real ? I'm hoping they will take this complain serious and the next customers don't get the same bad experience like us.

Unfortunately they didn't allow me in because I didn't have a reservation. One couple in front of me got a table without reservation. They didn't even offer for me to wait. This was a Sunday night

Absolutely loved this restaurant. The owner was very kind to fit me and my friend in despite no reservation on a fully booked night. The vegetarian curry was delicious and comforting- I love the idea of the restaurant and the home cooked meals by your mum concept! Staff are very friendly. Would 100% recommend and return!

The place is very cozy but I didn't like the food at all, not even a simple salad had any flavor, we ordered the typical dish there, mashed potatoes, meatball and sausages, the mash was cooked with cauliflower and was super strong.

Small but cozy place, we went without a reservation but they still made room for us. Prices not as expensive as the rest of the places. Dutch home cooking, rustic but tasty. As a curiosity, it is full of photos of mothers, as the restaurant is called in Dutch (moeder=mother). I gave two stars for the atmosphere because the tables were very close together, but good like most restaurants there, being small places.
