Pizzeria Amore Mio in Callantsoog

Annoying. This pizzeria was recommended to us. We called several times to make a reservation, but unfortunately received no response. When we arrived, we were shocked to find the pizzeria closed. There's no indication of this anywhere, neither on their website nor on Google.

We've never been disappointed by the food. Very tasty Italian pizzas.

We had veal medallions with mushrooms and saltimbocca alla Romana – both were delicious. The service was very welcoming, quick, and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Highly recommended! Grazie per la bella serata.

The waitress's service was excellent. The lasagna was exquisite, the clams very fresh, the food arrived quickly, and the portions were generous. 20/10

We had a calzone and a pizza 4 formaggio. It was absolutely delicious. The service was very friendly and calm. We think the restrooms need a facelift. The toilet seat in the women's restroom was loose, and the toilet paper dispenser on the wall wasn't quite secure.

Pizza, super delicious, thin crust, fresh toppings. Poor service, starter forgotten, wrong drink, long wait for order. The atmosphere is quite good, cozy inside, the conservatory is spartan.

We were there a few times six months ago and were always very satisfied. This time we went twice, but unfortunately the food isn't as good anymore. We had asparagus Bolognese once, and mussels the second time we had pizza. The quality and taste have unfortunately declined considerably. It's a real shame.

We ordered three pizzas over the phone, which we were able to pick up after 15 minutes. The conversation was very friendly. Picking up the pizzas was uncomplicated and also very friendly. The pizzas were nice and thin, crispy, and quite large, and we really enjoyed them. The price was reasonable for a vacation spot and the authentic Italian salami. Personally, I would find the restaurant itself too crowded and noisy, but that's a matter of taste.

Update 10/4/25 Visited at Amore Mio again today. Nothing has changed: Large menu with a wide variety of dishes, friendly and attentive staff, delicious food. ................. Cozy, large pizzeria with seating in the winter garden and in the restaurant. A large menu and friendly, attentive staff round out the offerings. The dishes are very tasty and quite generous for the price. We will be back.

A table for several people was reserved inside for that evening with the chef personally, and the reservation was confirmed. When we arrived, the reserved table had been taken, and we were only allowed to sit in the unheated conservatory in the relatively cold temperatures, which was very uncomfortable. The pizza and the salami on it were not tasty, and we were charged an extra €2 for exchanging an ingredient without prior notice. The chef was unfriendly, and everyone was very unfriendly to customers; we won't be going there again.

I'd be happy to go back. The pizzas were good. The service was friendly and attentive.

The service was very unfriendly and seemed annoyed. The restaurant was very busy, and we had to wait 1.5 hours for our pizza. Many guests who arrived after us got their food faster. When the pizza arrived, it was lukewarm. The toppings seemed carelessly made, and there was very little cheese. Furthermore, we didn't get a receipt when paying. When we later checked, we paid almost €17 more. Never again.

Not recommended. The food was poor quality. A waste of money!

We ate pizza. The crust was great. It had a very slight salty note. Unfortunately, the salami was very fatty and had an aftertaste that lingered for about two hours. So my recommendation: Just order a pizza without salami. Then the 3 stars for the meal will immediately become 4-5.

Wir waren abends nach 19:30 Uhr dort, wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und durften uns einen Tisch aussuchen. Es war sofort jemand da, der Getränke & Essen aufgenommen hat. Kaum hatten wir etwas zu trinken, war sich das Essen schon da, obwohl das Restaurant halb voll war. Es war SEHR lecker und reichlich. Wir hatten Pizza und Pasta. Die Preise sind für die Portionen definitiv ok. Wir haben den Rest eingepackt bekommen und freuen uns über diesen Snack morgen. Wir verstehen schlechte Bewertungen für das Lokal überhaupt nicht!!! Natürlich dauert alles länger, wenn es voller ist. ABER dafür ist man im Urlaub und hat Zeit 😃 DANKE für das leckere Essen und die gute Bewirtung! Wir kommen gerne nochmal vorbei.

Unbelievable! Unfriendly and rude boss - I think it was the boss, given his behavior. The food is also extremely bad. A restaurant can only afford this if it can survive on the passing trade of a busy holiday resort. I don't know any other Italians who cook Italian food this poorly. Saltimbocca alla Romana for over 27 euros - actually a fantastic dish - is prepared so poorly that you don't really want to eat it. This restaurant can't even manage to serve a simple "cabonara" in a halfway acceptable way. This is my second online review ever - which shows how I rate this restaurant. If you have a lot of money to spare and want to spoil your vacation a little, you should definitely reserve a table here and see for yourself.

This was a huge mistake for us. We'd read great reviews, and the location is truly ideal. The food is also very good, but the staff are a disgrace to this country. There's an older man (the owner?) who is so rude, the most unfriendly person we've ever met. To our great annoyance, we saw how he treated the waitresses… I even felt uncomfortable continuing to eat. He was also rude to my family: our dishes were taken from the table before we'd even finished eating. In short: a beautiful place, a good location, and good food, but terrible human behavior. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, not even to continue supporting someone who treats their employees this way. It's unbelievable that this can still happen in 2025.

We ate here 10 years ago. We wanted to do it again this year. We were on vacation in Callantsoog this week. Lasagna exists, but it was swimming in a very greasy sauce. It tasted more like a thick tomato soup than lasagna. The spaghetti wasn't what it should be either. Not enough flavor.

Wir haben 5 Pizzen telefonisch bestellt. Sollten in 15 Minuten abholen. Name wurde nicht nochmals nachgefragt. Wir waren nach 20 Minuten da. Mussten bezahlen. Nach 30 Minuten wurden wir gefragt was wir bestellt haben. Nur der Name und 5 Pizzen nicht die Sorten. Bestellung war wohl vergessen worden. Nach weiteren 10 Minuten gab es 5 Pizzen. Als Entschädigung wurde uns eine Flasche Wein angeboten. Wir wählten rot es gab weiß und von den bestellten Pizzen gab es eine die der Bestellung entsprach. Nicht zu empfehlen und auf jeden Fall die Bestellung kontrollieren.

We've been coming here for years, but yesterday the food was truly awful. We wanted to order takeout, but no one answered the phone, so we stopped by. There was no one at the entrance to separate diners and takeaways. The old man was barking at us, which really startled my daughter, even though she doesn't know him that well. We waited 40 minutes for our food, and when we got home, the salmon pasta and truffle pasta were soggy and tasteless. The cream sauce was nowhere to be seen, and there was no taste of salt, pepper, or garlic. We threw it straight in the trash; it was a real shame. The pizza crusts were dry and the toppings were tough. We are incredibly disappointed and will NEVER come back for a while.

Tisch war nicht gereinigt worden und es wirkte alles in einem sehr schmuddelig. Die Pizza hingegen war lecker. Das konnte den Rest leider nicht aufwiegen. Würde nicht mehr wiederkommen.

My boyfriend and I ate there! We made two orders, at first everything was fine with the nice staff, but the pasta was really disgusting 🤢! I'm a cook so I recognize the taste of a good simple pasta! I'm very sorry! The waiter said we can change for a pizza but my boyfriend and I decided to leave and only pay for the drinks! The waiter started insulting him badly! I understand the stress but this goes beyond kindness! Being Italian he didn't insult me much but he said everything and more to my husband! We're sorry but I hope for you in the future to improve

Unfortunately, I can't write anything about the food here, as we waited 1.5 hours for the pizza. We ordered at the same time as two other tables. They had already finished eating and left. When we asked, we initially received no information. When we said we didn't want any more pizza, we were insulted, and the statement "we should go for fries next time" seemed rather rude to us (even though the waitresses confirmed that we had already waited that long). It can happen, but a different reaction would be advisable!

We ate here for the second time during our summer vacation this year. I'd say, well, it's not! The first time, there's no comparison. I had tortellini alla panna, which had very little flavor. The sauce was like milk (very runny), the ham was cut into thick pieces, a very small portion, and not particularly appetizing. We also ordered a seafood pizza, which caused severe nausea and vomiting that night. Unfortunately, the quality was significantly lower than last year. What a shame!

This was our first time at this pizzeria (restaurant), and it won't be the last! We had pizza...and it was amazing! Truly delicious Italian pizza! Update July 2025: Everything is still as described! And still super delicious. New pictures uploaded. It was busy, but we still got a nice table. Very friendly welcome and table assignment. Drinks were taken immediately and menus distributed. When we were undecided about which pizza to choose, the chef promptly made a recommendation, which was very tasty. Overall, the price/performance ratio was absolutely reasonable. Highly recommended!

Terrible, you can't justify serving something like that. The carbonara was completely runny, the guancale was ice cold, and the service (the chef) was simply rude! For a restaurant, the food is a disaster. I absolutely don't recommend it. In short, it's a pure tourist rip-off, and the prices are unjustified!

We had a fantastic meal on a busy summer holiday. We ate there last year during our holiday and, due to its great success, we came back again this year. Always full. Always a pleasant atmosphere. Knowledgeable, friendly staff (some of whom speak English). There was some trouble with the power supply during our dinner, but we didn't mind. It happens to the owner himself. We received an apology, which wasn't necessary at all. Our children weren't feeling well and were able to take their boxed pizzas home. Delicious soup, large shrimp, sirloin steak, and accompanying salads. Perfect pizzas, of course. We're going on holiday to Callantsoog again next year, so reserve our table for five now!

Horrible food. Never had anything so bad. Truffle pasta, lasagna, and tortellini were all overcooked and not really seasoned. Ordered ginger ale, which also tasted really weird. We told the waiters, but no response. Barely any room inside, thousands of flies everywhere. Pizzas on the other tables didn't look particularly appetizing either. Never, ever. Update: We've been to dozens of restaurants, including in Italy itself. Aside from the fact that Italian cuisine isn't rocket science, sometimes you have to take criticism as a reason for improvement. There wasn't even a mention of al dente, but rather that all the pasta/dishes were overcooked and lacked salt and other seasonings. Taste before serving! Exactly, over 300 people, mass processing, for quite a bit of money.

We had a great meal. It was very busy due to the tourist season in Callantsoog, but we were still able to find a table. We were served quickly, and the food took a while to arrive, but the pizzas were excellent. What we couldn't finish was given in a box, and we could also take the dessert (Tiramisu) home, which is highly recommended.

Heerlijk gegeten! Wat een fijne avond bij dit gezellige Italiaanse restaurant. De bediening was alleraardigst – vriendelijk, attent en met een glimlach. We begonnen met een focaccia vooraf, echt een aanrader: vers, knapperig en vol van smaak. Als hoofdgerecht genoten we van de pizza Burrata en de lasagne allebei om te smullen! Je proeft dat er met liefde is gekookt. We komen hier elk jaar als we in Callantsoog zitten en we komen zeker terug!

Unfortunately, I have to say that the salami pizza wasn't really my thing...sorry...the salami was very greasy and salty, but the pizza size was definitely sufficient. The service was super friendly and accommodating. The prices were also OK.

Nice place with a lovely ambiance. Unfortunately, we were more than disappointed with the food. We ordered two pasta dishes with frutti di mare. It had no flavor at all and was completely bland. The so-called tomato sauce was more like soup. The mixed salad consisted of 85% iceberg lettuce. The dressing was also extremely skimpy. All in all, very disappointing. Charging over €60 for a meal like this for two people is, in my opinion, outrageous.

As an Italian restaurant, you should know how to make spaghetti carbonara. I received pasta with scrambled eggs... extremely unappetizing. The spaghetti shouldn't be at its maximum temperature, because then the egg mixture will curdle. Last time, I had spaghetti aglio/olio that was literally swimming in oil. The pasta was also overcooked. So, they really can't make pasta. We've already been warned that there's no consistency in quality at Amore Mio, which we can confirm.

A nice little Italian restaurant that obviously caters more to tourists. On a Sunday evening, the place was completely packed, and even with a reservation, you had to wait a short time. We ordered pizza and pasta. Unfortunately, we didn't like the carbonara we ordered twice because the guanciale was barely cooked and therefore very greasy. The pizzas we ordered were large and delicious. The service was rather mediocre in a crowded place, and no new drinks were offered. However, this restaurant is reasonably priced.

The pizzeria is really good; the pizza is amazing. Service is definitely accommodating. The ambiance outside is nice, but inside it's very dark and cramped. We sat right by the kitchen.

I ordered my pizza for 7 p.m. at a quarter to six. When I walked into the store at 7:10, I was told I hadn't ordered. As proof, I showed the "nice" lady behind the counter my call log. I was told to come back at 7:20. The pizza was supposed to cost 18 euros. I paid 20 euros and didn't get anything back. The pizza was delicious, except for the raw fried egg.

We paid neatly, the same woman comes up to us with the payment was not successful! While the payment machine accepted! No matter what I said! But no, my 80 year old (!) grandmother ‘had’ to make a payment again! And yes, when we got to our holiday home, we looked at my grandmother’s bank statements. ! 2x a different & high amount was debited! My grandmother, aunt and father went back to the restaurant, with all the evidence! BUT THEY FIRST REFUSED TO REFUND IT! According to the owners!! And no apologies from the restaurant to my 80 year old grandmother! How dare you….

Bad service. Spaghetti carbonara eaten with too thick and undercooked bacon in it. The waitress told me with a smile that it was not bacon. It is indeed on the menu. If I say that I do not like it, then as a restaurant you do not compete with me. The wine is too expensive for that small layer that you get in it.

Located in the heart of Callantsoog. Plenty of parking spaces all around. I reserved a table, which I think is recommended, as it's almost always busy. Friendly staff. There were four of us there. Everyone had pizza and everyone enjoyed it. There's a weather-protected outdoor area, sort of like a conservatory. It looks quite pleasant, as there's plenty of space between the tables. However, the interior is sometimes very cramped. I personally don't like that at all. Our table was actually for five people, and our four pizzas barely fit. It was also very dim, and there were very neglected plants on the windowsill. The pizza was very tasty, with a nice thin crust, plenty of toppings, and quite large. Good selection on the menu; I think I'll definitely go here again.

A truly excellent restaurant. We went there several times during our vacation. The pizza is perfect, incredibly delicious, and impossible to finish. We were immediately offered to take the leftovers home with us. The pasta is also really delicious. Bread and herb butter (homemade!!) were served as a "greeting from the kitchen"...also delicious! The service is excellent and very attentive. If this wonderful restaurant were nearby, it would definitely be our "regular Italian spot"!

The food was very tasty. The service was very polite and friendly. Apologies were made several times for the waiting time. We sat outside, which was easy to do despite the outside temperature of 10 degrees thanks to the newly designed winter garden-like outdoor area. Unfortunately, the outside area is built in such a way that there are 2 manhole covers in this area and it therefore smelled slightly unpleasant.
