Pizzeria Amore Mio in Callantsoog

Good Italian food with a decent Italian vibe. We had pasta and pizza and both are really good options. The staff is very friendly. And I think they will be even more friendly if you actually speak Italian to them. The location is super convenient in the middle of town.

The pizza was undercooked, and it was difficult to get the waiter's attention. However, the subsequent interaction was very friendly.

Unfortunately, my experience at Amore Mio in Callantsoog was truly disappointing. I was initially inside and specifically asked if I could sit outside. This was confirmed. So I took a seat outside – and then the waiting began. For over 20 minutes, I was completely ignored. No menu, no offer of a drink, no greeting, nothing. Several waiters repeatedly walked right past me. What was particularly baffling was that one waiter was sometimes only about a meter away from me, serving other guests while I continued to be ignored. Guests who arrived significantly later were served before me. At some point, I honestly just didn't want to wait any longer and left. Perhaps the food is good – I'll sadly never know. For me, service is just as much a part of a restaurant visit as the food. And in this case, the service was simply nonexistent. It's a real shame, because a simple greeting or a "We'll be right with you" would have resolved the situation completely.

Authentic Italian restaurant. Had delicious freshly made pasta di mare. The sauce was well-seasoned (plenty of garlic 😀) and contained plenty of seafood. The pasta pesto pollo and pizza were also very tasty. Highly recommended for pizza and pasta lovers.

We ordered two pizzas today, we've been coming to Callantsoog for years, but the quality gets worse every year, the taste is really not worth mentioning.

Probably the best pizza we've had in years. Not only was the taste perfect, but the size of the pizzas was also excellent. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself is very cramped. A pregnant woman wouldn't have been able to sit at our table without having someone sitting behind us. We'll definitely be back on our next vacation.

We didn't eat in the restaurant but ordered takeout. The man on the phone was friendly, and I was able to pick up the order after just 10 minutes. The restaurant itself was quite full and therefore a bit chaotic. You can sit both inside and outside, although it looked very dark inside. I was able to take the order with me immediately; payment is possible in cash or by card. Once home, I was a bit disappointed. I had ordered Ravioli Salvia and found about 10 ravioli in a thin sauce in an aluminum tray. At least they tasted good and were warm. The pizzas looked good, had a decent amount of toppings, were still warm, and tasted good. In total, we paid €50.50 for two pizzas and a pasta dish, which I think is quite expensive. The packaging costs extra, by the way, at €0.50 each. Conclusion: It's okay once in a while, but nothing special.

We had a holiday in Callantsoog and ate here too. Very friendly service and a welcoming and atmospheric restaurant. We had spaghetti bolognese here. The best spaghetti I have ever had. I am quite picky when it comes to pasta, but one thing is certain: we will eat here again on every holiday. It was delicious. This restaurant is my number one. Keep the flavors as they are; it is perfect this way. Keep up the good work and we will come back in 2027 to enjoy some delicious spaghetti bolognese at your place.

It was really lovely there. The food was tasty and good, though not exceptional. Since one person in our group is vegetarian, we ordered a meat-free dish. Unfortunately, it arrived with meat. The homemade tiramisu was okay. We had pasta dishes. I would eat there again, but next time I'd try the pizza. It looked fantastic. Very friendly service.

A very warm welcome and authentic Sardinian pizza. The wine was also good, and they even had water from Sardinia. It exceeded all expectations.

We had a reservation at Pizzeria Amore Mio last night. Despite the reservation, we had to wait about 10 minutes for our table. The appetizers were of good quality, but they arrived about 45 minutes apart, so we couldn't eat together. We then had to wait about 1.5 hours for our main courses. In our opinion, that's far too long. We ordered three different pizzas. They were adequately sized and had generous toppings, but we weren't impressed with the taste. The house wine was average. Throughout our visit, the restaurant felt very hectic. While the staff tried their best, they seemed constantly rushed. Overall, it gave the impression of a place heavily geared towards tourists with a high turnover of customers, which made the atmosphere somewhat chaotic. We would describe the value for money as average. Due to the long wait times and our only mediocre overall impression, we probably wouldn't visit the restaurant again.

We first visited this restaurant three months ago. Even then, we were shown to our table quite rudely. Until we could order, we were completely ignored – other guests who arrived much later were served before us, and our food arrived so late that we thought we'd been forgotten. The pizza, however, was delicious. Today we tried again, hoping things would go better this time. Unfortunately, we were once again left standing at the entrance for five minutes (even though the restaurant wasn't full) before we were finally allowed to sit down. We waited to at least order drinks. After a full 15 minutes, no one bothered to come to our table – next to us, guests who arrived later were again being asked what they wanted and had their drinks on the table and their food order taken before we were even asked. At that point, we got up and went to another restaurant. We have no idea why we were ignored. This behavior is beyond rude. The service is abysmal. We will never set foot in that restaurant again.

Compared to other pizzas, it had very generous toppings. I had the Fruit de Mare pizza with incredibly fresh seafood. For four people, including seven drinks, the total came to €88. The restaurant is very well-run. The service was quick, attentive, and friendly. A reservation would be better in the evening, but you can usually find empty tables inside.

We've had some of the best pizzas ever here. It's a small but excellent restaurant that's been around for over 40 years. The only slight drawback is its location right on the street. Therefore, it's best to avoid visiting at lunchtime on weekends and go in the evening or on a weekday instead.

Had a delicious meal. Friendly and efficient service. Sat on the terrace and were not bothered by the nearby road or the party on the village square.

The food was always very good and more than enough. Reservations are recommended. Always busy. Dogs are welcome (provided they are well-behaved). The staff is always excellent 👍.

We ordered a pizza and spaghetti aglio e olio. We were very dissatisfied. The pasta was bland, the pizza barely topped and tasteless. We rounded up to €40 and gave him a €50 note. We only received €5 back. That's unacceptable. That was our last visit. Not recommended.

We ate there on Wednesday. The service was very nice and friendly, and the food arrived incredibly quickly. I had spaghetti with salmon, and my partner had pizza. I've never eaten such delicious spaghetti with salmon before—it was unbelievably good. The atmosphere is lovely. I would go back anytime and highly recommend it. Thank you, I'll definitely be back.

We got a nice table for two on Sunday evening without a reservation in a rather busy restaurant. Drinks and food were served promptly by the efficient staff. The pizza was practically the size of a wagon wheel. We also enjoyed the lasagna. To finish, we were offered a nightcap of our choice. That's what we call a perfect evening.

First, the bread for the bruschetta appetizer was rock hard and not only inedible but also like rusk. The tomato soup was unfortunately also unappetizing. The pizza we ordered was burnt on the bottom and equally unpleasant. In total, we paid €70 for four appetizers, a pizza, and drinks. The service also left much to be desired.

We had a long day of cycling on Texel behind us and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat in Callantsoog. It was actually half an hour before closing time, but that was no problem for you. We were received very hospitably. We both had a delicious pizza. So big that they almost didn't fit on the plate. Delicious! Only a glass of Primitivo for 7.50...that was a bit disappointing...otherwise, a real Italian feel here.

The pizza was truly delicious, with perfect dough, great ingredients, and excellent flavor. One of the best pizzas I've ever had. The drinks were also very good and perfectly prepared. The atmosphere and service were very pleasant. I definitely recommend this place and will definitely be back!

Delicious, real Italian atmosphere

Lovely restaurant, we received a very warm welcome. We were immediately allowed to bring our dog in, even inside. The service was lovely, and we ordered the Pizza Emilio, which is tomato, mozzarella, arugula, and Parmesan. Parma ham was also available as an extra. The wine was excellent, everything was great. Very cozy. The pizza was huge and incredibly delicious. Highly recommended! We even got a table on Valentine's Day despite the restaurant being so busy. It was one of the best pizzas we've ever had.

Annoying. This pizzeria was recommended to us. We called several times to make a reservation, but unfortunately received no response. When we arrived, we were shocked to find the pizzeria closed. There's no indication of this anywhere, neither on their website nor on Google.

We had a calzone and a pizza 4 formaggio. It was absolutely delicious. The service was very friendly and calm. We think the restrooms need a facelift. The toilet seat in the women's restroom was loose, and the toilet paper dispenser on the wall wasn't quite secure.

The pizzas were nice and thin, crispy, and quite large, and we really enjoyed them. The price was reasonable for a vacation spot and the authentic Italian salami. Personally, I would find the restaurant itself too crowded and noisy, but that's a matter of taste.

Update 10/4/25 Visited at Amore Mio again today. Nothing has changed: Large menu with a wide variety of dishes, friendly and attentive staff, delicious food. ................. Cozy, large pizzeria with seating in the winter garden and in the restaurant. A large menu and friendly, attentive staff round out the offerings. The dishes are very tasty and quite generous for the price. We will be back.

We were there a few times six months ago and were always very satisfied. This time we went twice, but unfortunately the food isn't as good anymore. We had asparagus Bolognese once, and mussels the second time we had pizza. The quality and taste have unfortunately declined considerably. It's a real shame.

A table for several people was reserved inside for that evening with the chef personally, and the reservation was confirmed. When we arrived, the reserved table had been taken, and we were only allowed to sit in the unheated conservatory in the relatively cold temperatures, which was very uncomfortable. The pizza and the salami on it were not tasty, and we were charged an extra €2 for exchanging an ingredient without prior notice. The chef was unfriendly, and everyone was very unfriendly to customers; we won't be going there again.

I'd be happy to go back. The pizzas were good. The service was friendly and attentive.

When we later checked, we paid almost €17 more. Never again.

We ate pizza. The crust was great. It had a very slight salty note. Unfortunately, the salami was very fatty and had an aftertaste that lingered for about two hours. So my recommendation: Just order a pizza without salami. Then the 3 stars for the meal will immediately become 4-5.

Wir waren abends nach 19:30 Uhr dort, wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und durften uns einen Tisch aussuchen. Es war sofort jemand da, der Getränke & Essen aufgenommen hat. Kaum hatten wir etwas zu trinken, war sich das Essen schon da, obwohl das Restaurant halb voll war. Es war SEHR lecker und reichlich. Wir hatten Pizza und Pasta. Die Preise sind für die Portionen definitiv ok. Wir haben den Rest eingepackt bekommen und freuen uns über diesen Snack morgen. Wir verstehen schlechte Bewertungen für das Lokal überhaupt nicht!!! Natürlich dauert alles länger, wenn es voller ist. ABER dafür ist man im Urlaub und hat Zeit 😃 DANKE für das leckere Essen und die gute Bewirtung! Wir kommen gerne nochmal vorbei.

Unbelievable! Unfriendly and rude boss - I think it was the boss, given his behavior. The food is also extremely bad. A restaurant can only afford this if it can survive on the passing trade of a busy holiday resort. I don't know any other Italians who cook Italian food this poorly. Saltimbocca alla Romana for over 27 euros - actually a fantastic dish - is prepared so poorly that you don't really want to eat it. This restaurant can't even manage to serve a simple "cabonara" in a halfway acceptable way. This is my second online review ever - which shows how I rate this restaurant. If you have a lot of money to spare and want to spoil your vacation a little, you should definitely reserve a table here and see for yourself.

This was a huge mistake for us. We'd read great reviews, and the location is truly ideal. The food is also very good, but the staff are a disgrace to this country. There's an older man (the owner?) who is so rude, the most unfriendly person we've ever met. To our great annoyance, we saw how he treated the waitresses… I even felt uncomfortable continuing to eat. He was also rude to my family: our dishes were taken from the table before we'd even finished eating. In short: a beautiful place, a good location, and good food, but terrible human behavior. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone, not even to continue supporting someone who treats their employees this way. It's unbelievable that this can still happen in 2025.
