Brasil in Callantsoog

We ate here for the first time, even though we've been coming to Callantsoog for years. Highly recommended! Friendly staff and delicious food. Despite being busy, the service was quick. The menu was a surprise for the kids too! They enjoyed it too.

We were the only guests; upon arrival, there was only one table occupied. The food was excellent. The service was very friendly. Even though it was almost closing time, we were told to take it easy and enjoy our meal. And so we did. It was a successful evening.

The food was excellent; the schnitzel was made with fresh meat, a truly delicious piece of meat. The service was friendly and humorous. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be back!

Today I ate at Brasil for my mother-in-law's birthday. They have an extensive menu and the choices are enormous. I finally went for the kibbeling, which was fantastic. We had a wonderful time and were helped tremendously by the sweet Jannie, who enjoyed a lovely chat with us along the way. Brasil gets 5 stars from us!! 😁

Cozy restaurant with a pleasant terrace. Service was prompt and they even arranged for the main course to be brought out. We had the steak surf and turf and spare ribs. Both were delicious and perfectly seasoned. The steak was beautifully rare, and the spare ribs fell off the bone smoothly.

The staff was friendly, the atmosphere cozy, but unfortunately we had to wait an hour and a half for our food. We were told it was because of the appetizer we had ordered. The food itself was fine.

Today, three of us visited the very clean restaurant "Brasil." No problem at all - the super-friendly staff member showed us to one of the free tables. We quickly selected our drinks and food: 1 x onion soup 2 x surf and turf with side dishes 1 x Wiener schnitzel with mushroom sauce, fries, and salad 1 x draft beer 2 x Sprite (8 bottles in total) About the food: The onion soup was freshly made and very tasty. The surf and turf was very nice to look at and tasted great. The Wiener schnitzel was large, beautifully breaded, and, like the fries, very tasty. The generous portions were very generous. The extremely attentive and efficient staff member even treated us to a few nightcaps on the house. The prices were also absolutely reasonable. We highly recommend it.

Yesterday, we dined at Restaurant Brasil with a group of 14 people, including two babies. Four of us require gluten-free meals, so we inquired beforehand about their availability. The service was excellent, and everyone enjoyed their meal. They also took their time with those with gluten-free options, ensuring no mistakes were made. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

We had delicious pancakes here, topped with excellent toppings, especially the special one with goat cheese, walnuts, raisins, and apple! It's highly recommended, and the service was also quick!

Upon arrival, we were given the choice of sitting inside or outside under cover. We chose outside, but unfortunately, we didn't notice the ashtrays. The 15-meter terrace was half open, while I was sitting in the closed half. According to overheid.nl, a conservatory/veranda is a smoking area, and smoking is not allowed there. Halfway through my plate, a German woman was smoking a meter behind me. But the very friendly waitress more than compensated. The pancake was a 6 out of 10, not quite cooked through, bordering on the edge, which is understandable when it's busy, and my partner's steak wasn't quite medium. But it was peak hour, so perhaps this is the best we could do. Brasil, thanks for the feedback. It's entirely in keeping with the quality of the food, which lacks substance.

We could hear talking and shouting in the kitchen. One waitress was being called to the carpet by another. We found this disturbing. You don't do that with customers eating nearby.

Drafty, too many dogs, and I bumped my head hard against a low side wall. The staff wasn't interested. I had to ask three times for a glass of tap water and had to move to a different seat because of a load of Germans. Sound familiar...

Super tasty food and super friendly service in short to perfect to eat.

The food was very tasty, apart from the fries (they were over-fried and soaked with grease). The spear ribs were super tender, and the meat fell off the bone easily. The schnitzel was also tender and juicy with a delicious breading. The outside area resembles that of a snack bar, but the inside is nicer. The staff is friendly.

Today we walked along the coastline from Sint Maartenszee to Callantsoog. We had dinner at the Brasil restaurant and then decided to take a taxi back to the campsite. No way! The Brasil staff made numerous phone calls for us to arrange transportation. No taxi, no Uber, no bus service, but... A super friendly owner took us back to Sint Maartenszee in her car. For free. Nice people still exist, and above all, the food was delicious. Highly recommended.

The drinks and the Wiener Schnitzel we ordered were completely overpriced. The pancake was initially served with the wrong side. After a complaint, the cherries we ordered were served on top. In my opinion, the batter wasn't cooked all the way through. The food was served incredibly quickly, which makes it seem like the schnitzel wasn't freshly prepared. Charging €25 for it is almost a disgrace. At least the service was very friendly. We won't be eating there again.

The pancakes were delicious. There were two of us and a dog, and we had a nice spot where the dog could lie down peacefully. The service was excellent, friendly, and fast, despite it being busy. A very cozy restaurant. We will definitely be back.

There was only one server for the approximately 20 outside tables. She was completely overwhelmed and extremely slow, trying to ignore as many new guests as possible. After waiting for almost 30 minutes and not being served despite waving and calling, we finally got up and left. So did at least six other tables. What a shame.

The food was delicious, and huge compliments to the service and the rest of the staff. On busy days (like today when we were there), they practically walk their soles off their shoes. Sometimes you have to wait a bit (due to understaffing due to illness, etc.), but their friendliness and the quality of the food more than make up for it. Nobody can be faster than fast...

We were unfortunately very disappointed with our visit to Restaurant Brasil. The value for money was absolutely not there—the food was not worth the price. The so-called "salad" consisted of brown iceberg lettuce, potato salad, pearl onions, blueberries, melon pieces, and coleslaw—a very questionable combination and not very visually appealing. We were also asked to pay €3.50 for an extra plate, which we didn't even receive. Our request for more was not met with a friendly response; in fact, the staff seemed rude and unservice-oriented. Unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend it.

So I had the fish and chips kibbling the service was okay but the portion was very small 15 chips on the plate maybe 6 fish pieces and the taste I don't even want to talk about it crispy yes but dipped in fat just tasted of nothing the aftertaste was so weird I can't even describe it

We went out for dinner with a group of 4 adults and 4 children aged 4 to 7. We were politely informed beforehand that it would be a bit busy. The children received their food much earlier than we did and were already finished before we were. A toy and candy were missing from the kids' box, but that was promptly resolved. The pizza was a bit soft and had a strange green substance on it. Otherwise, the plates were large and full, so it was definitely value for money. The service could have been better; we didn't stop by to order drinks or ask if everything was to our liking. The spare ribs and schnitzel were delicious. We ate for less than 200 euros for 8 people.

We went there twice. The first time: the food was really good. We didn't expect much for a tourist hotspot. We had carpaccio and steak and were pleasantly surprised. The price was also reasonable. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly. The second time: we were there around 12 noon. We were seen but ignored for about half an hour, then we left. A young man was cleaning windows right next to us and didn't pay any attention. This obviously brings down the overall rating. I'm sorry.

Pass this place by. The food was subpar and the staff were unfriendly. I asked if I could have mushrooms on my pizza, and the answer was: "We can't do that." The table was wet, and the answer was: "We just got the vegetables, so that's understandable." The white wine was lukewarm and disgusting. The hamburger on a soggy bun with wet vegetables and a whole lot of gunk presented on a piece of paper was truly unappetizing. The fries came in a small bag (which was a good thing, as the fries were soft and unappetizing). There was a strange blob of unappealing vegetables on the side, but we didn't eat any. They were supposed to turn on the heaters, but they were broken. In short: very disappointing! Our advice: pass this place by!

The food was fine. Our children can't eat a whole pizza, so I asked for an extra plate so they could share. It turned out we were charged €3.50 for the plate. It was a shame, and also strange, that this wasn't announced beforehand. We realized this after we received the receipt and had already paid the tip. My husband and I each had our own pizza, so it wasn't like we were all sharing one dish.

Pizza and drinks were good. The blonde waitress could use some customer service training. She watered flowers while customers were sitting at their tables. A soggy mess. Table assignments were inconsistent. One couple wasn't allowed to sit at a table for four, while another was sent to a table for two. She also spoke to customers very curtly and without any charm. Apparently, she wasn't having a good day. We certainly wouldn't repeat the experience, and it's not a restaurant worth promoting.

One star is too many. Very unfriendly staff. Our drinks were slammed on the table in annoyance. The pancake was okay but not worth the money. When we asked for an extra fork, we were told it would cost €3.50. The reason given was that they had to bring it and wash it. Callantsoog is a beautiful place with very friendly people, but the Brasil is a disgrace to the place. Thanks, but no thanks! Never again...

Great restaurant! They really have the best pizzas here. We were back in Callantsoog today and went to Brasil again because we knew we could have a great meal there. The staff is also very friendly. Definitely recommended.

There was bickering, even a brief argument with raised voices. If something wasn't right, someone would call a colleague to take care of it. An order was forgotten, and when she was reminded, it was the fault of colleagues who called her. Dogs were allowed inside, instead of on the patio. That wasn't very nice. The music was all over the place, but far from restaurant music. If you see the humor in it: come and see it.

Friendly service, good food - we'll go back!

Food was adequate but not to the highest standards, had a roll with a mayo laced concoction of white cabbage, ham and carrot with a side salad that had been batch made at the start of the day. Other fare by other members of family was about the same. I would say the meals were overpriced and low grade. Staff were attentive and friendly enough.

Unfortunately, the service was absolutely rude. The food itself was okay. The shrimp were overcooked, the fish was dry, but the price of almost €26 for 300g of kibbling was unrealistic for this quality, considering you can get the same portion for much better (€6.50) at a stall 300m away.

A truly disappointing experience. The restaurant looks somewhat cheap/affordable, but its price is on par with better restaurants. However, the price is completely out of proportion to the quality. The prawns (only four) were not tasty, and the lemon sauce that came with them was too greasy. The herb butter with the bread board was also not good. The steak surf and turf tasted more like pork tenderloin, which had little to do with a good steak (I didn't eat it, it tasted strange). The schnitzel and fries were fatty and limp. We also didn't like the sauce on the schnitzel. The salad and garnish seemed pre-made and didn't taste fresh. Tastes differ, but for this price, this restaurant is subpar. When I paid, I couldn't get an itemized receipt (I have no idea why). So I don't know if what I paid is correct...

Update 2025 Prices only slightly higher. Coke 3.60, pizza tonno 16.75, kip satay 25.50. But we were very satisfied with the food and service. Update 2024 Not only have the prices increased, the portions have also become smaller (see satay skewer). It's no longer a clear recommendation... Unfortunately. First of all: prices have increased here too. Pizza for 14 euros, tonno even 16 euros, small Coke 3.50 euros. Apart from that, the service during our visit was friendly and fast. We were satisfied with the food: the pizzas were more in line with the house style, but fresh and good. The satay is highly recommended!

Everything I ordered was deliciously cooked and at the right temperature, the taste was wonderful, the way they deal with young children is perfect, they even came with crayons and a coloring book for the little ones and the staff was friendly especially (Janny) what a great one!!

We thoroughly enjoyed a meal at Restaurant Brasil. Food was served quickly. There was so much I didn't know where to begin. Dessert, well, let's just call it dessert. The dessert came in a 25cm diameter bowl. That was measured upon request. That's why I want to mention that the staff was fantastic. You deserve the stars.
