Had a delicious meal at Poort 1893 in Wassenaar! Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere, and it is great fun to share the different dishes. The sushi, taco, and tuna tartare were delicious, and for dessert, the tarte tatin is definitely recommended. An atmospheric place with tasty food and a cozy ambiance. I would love to come back again!

The service was so friendly, and the food was equally delicious. The bao buns and gyozas are a must try. We’ll be coming back!

We are huge fans and can be found back almost every month! We mainly come for the sushi, which is just as good as it is. With many diverse choices, we think the rolls are absolutely amazing! The crispy tacos are also very good! With salmon, tuna, or steak tartare. Peking duck, crispy chicken, and much more tasty stuff! The nice thing is that Poort 1893 has a different special almost every day. Like oysters for just 1 euro, sushi rolls for €12.50 every Wednesday, and tacos for €9.50. This makes it really fun to get to know the restaurant and regularly draws us back to Wassenaar from the Bulb Region.

Server forgot many of the items we ordered but overall was very nice and food was delicious. We went on a warm day so they can improve a bit on the airflow inside of the restaurant but everything aside we had a good time.

The food is good. However, it takes a really, really long time, so if you want to eat something quick with your family, you shouldn't go here because you'll wait well over an hour for your food.

Nice restaurant, within walking distance of home, modern decor with some neon. Tuna tacos, duck pancakes, sushi, and a huge Dame Blanche for dessert. We found it tasty and the service good. Takeaway is also available.

The food here was great! My only wish, is that they had an appetizer size for the steak tartar, which was a bit too much for me, specially if I was to order a main afterwards. Nevertheless, the steak tartare was lovely and they prepared it table side. Can’t wait to come back here for lunch sometime

We had a delicious meal here. The beef tacos (which were fried) were our favorite, raw. That's just my personal preference. We had a delicious carpaccio roll, and my favorite was the duck pancakes. The staff was friendly, and the service was excellent. We had a pleasant evening.

I arrived there in the afternoon but was completely uncomfortable. Very awkward. It's open but felt like it was closed.

We were initially a little concerned about some recent reviews regarding (lack of) adequate service, but it turned out to be excellent. The food was also very tasty and refined. Highly recommended! We were there on a Wednesday, which is sushi day here (discount on sushi), so it got quite busy. But because we arrived at 6:00 PM, we were always served quickly (and very friendly).

While the food itself was delicious and the staff seemed friendly, the service was unfortunately a major drawback. Therefore, I can only give it one star. We had to wait over twenty minutes before we received the menu and could order drinks, and then it took another half hour for the drinks to actually arrive. We then had to wait at least an hour for our food, during which one dish was served incorrectly, and another was completely missing. And then it never arrived at all. In the meantime, we got the first basket of bread ourselves, which still had receipts from previous orders on the plate. The glasses were never removed, so we put them on the table next to us. Despite promises of an extra round of free drinks, it never materialized. We did end up getting four drinks and the bread for free, but the atmosphere was already pretty much ruined by then. We didn't seem to be the only ones experiencing slow service, but for some reason, the table behind us kept getting served. I literally had to shout at the waitress to explain that a dish was missing. The staff seemed young and inexperienced, and we had to get up several times to find someone so we could finally place an order. This all made us wonder where the owner was, as there seemed to be little supervision. All in all, the experience was disappointing. While the food tasted great, the value for money was completely inadequate. We won't be returning.

My favorite restaurant in Wassenaar. Excellent food quality, wonderful atmosphere. Service can improve by being a bit more friendly. I highly recommend to try this place

We normally never leave bad reviews because we know things can go wrong. Staff can have a bad day. I also waited a while to see if they would contact us before doing so. We had reserved a table for six for September 19th. Upon arrival, the "manager" told us to sit at the round table in the corner. After ordering some drinks, I ordered six appetizers and six main courses. Bread arrived first, after about 10 minutes. After that, the rest of the appetizers didn't arrive. It was quite busy, so we just waited. About 45-60 minutes after we ordered, they suddenly brought the appetizers and main courses at the same time. So I immediately asked the waiter who had taken our order what was wrong. He said he had made a mistake. This happens. He went to see if anything could be done. After that, I told the manager that this wasn't acceptable. He says he didn't take the order and that he can't serve the main courses later. And he goes right to the table and prepares the steak tartare. He doesn't even ask how we want it! We ordered all the steaks medium rare, which is our usual order. The ribeyes were good, but the chateaubriand was cold in the middle. I cut off a piece for him and let him feel it. He even has the nerve to say that's how it's supposed to be. The only thing he offered us was a bottle of water. We finally ate something and then paid. The waiter apologized and removed the drinks from the receipt. But we didn't hear from the manager. I've never experienced such poor service.

Chic hotel decor, surprising fusion menu, and very friendly service. A real asset to Wassenaar. Easily accessible by car, with on-site parking. Large terrace with some disruption from the busy road (N44).

When we (table 2 persons) were allowed to order something we had to wait fifteen minutes for the wine and an hour for two rolls of sushi. The message was; it is different here than the Sumo. The sushi was delicious, no negative words about that. Then we ordered our main course which we also waited almost an hour for, this was not special. Then we sat for another 45 minutes with empty plates and empty glasses, while we saw that the tables were being set for the next day. In short; from 18:30-22:30 here with two courses, a bottle of water and two glasses of wine per person. In addition, a dirty floor (a whole layer of sand along the edge), dirty plate that was not noticed by the manager. We expressed our dissatisfaction, with the message that the manager wanted to go home. We were offered a glass of wine on the house; no thanks. Agreed that the drinks would be taken off the bill, but actually every euro was too much. I really haven't had such a bad catering experience in a long time. Very unfortunate!

Gisteren heb ik hier voor de 2e keer gegeten. De sushirollen waren net als de 1e keer heerlijk, maar wat was de bediening dit keer vreselijk…. Misschien was het de plek achterin het restaurant en vergaten ze ons daarom. Maar wij hebben een heel uur op 6 rollen sushi en ossenhaas moeten wachten en daarna nog 40 minuten op een 2e portie truffelfriet (die pas kwam toen wij allang klaar waren met eten). Echt niet oké. Een drankje van het huis of desnoods “alleen” excuses was na zo lang wachten echt niet raar geweest. Teleurstellend.

Laatst hier voor het eerst geweest voor lunch. Een aantal kleine gerechten besteld, was prima. Vriendelijke bediening. Alleen was het binnen ijskoud, ik schat zo’n 16 a 17 graden. Dat verpestte voor mij wel enigszins de ervaring. Goed eten, mooie ambiance.

One of the go to restaurants in Wassenaar village, which I understand. A mixed western - Japanese menu. Surprising good grillled steak. Ordered blue, the meat was nicely charred on the outside and warm (and red) on inside. Tuna tacos were a good bite.

Strange reception...eventually hung up the coats myself. Table broken (top was loose), table too small for 5 people. The waitress lady was great! Food fine! Not everything in stock. The chateaubriand on a much too small plant without a drainage channel with a piece of paper underneath 🤔…€102 for 3 people, it could be a little more generous! Tastes great The Scroppino had a great taste, but here too the proportion was wrong. Very small glass for relatively a lot of money. A better Port server please! Hope for improvement…..maybe come back again.

It was a nice experience. The food was very good, I liked the sushi and the salade very much. Together with my friend we had a beautiful few hours there.

We have loved coming here almost since it opened. Fine sushi, various dinner options, good service, spacious. Major drawback: the white wines are barely chilled. This has been going on for a year. Recently the option was offered to put ice cubes in it. A real shame for such a beautiful wine. When we spoke to the staff about this, we learned 1. that more people were complaining about this and 2. that the cooling is not working properly. Come on management: invest in professional cooling, your beautiful establishment deserves this.

What bad service. After we were greeted and had chosen a table in the almost empty restaurant, we were skillfully forgotten. The menu, ordering drinks (the wrong water bottle was brought), ordering food, ordering more drinks and removing the dishes. One of us had to get up and tell them for everything. We wanted to have a nice evening with friends - unfortunately that wasn't possible. There was no one to guide the young staff and keep an overview.

Vandaag verjaardag van mijn moeder gevierd 87. Wij wonen niet meer in Wassenaar. Vorig jaar paar keer genoten van het diner en de gastvrijheid. Wat een teleurstelling vandaag , enorm achteruit gegaan. Personeel moesten we lang op wachten. Tournedo matig warm, slibtongen taai...Het was niet druk. Weinig aandacht voor de jarige terwijl ik het bij binnenkomst aangaf.

Food was definitely good. Good drinks also. The big detractor was when we were seated, there was one family in the whole restaurant and they seated us stuck in the back squished right next to this family. It was ridiculous when the entire restaurant was wide open. When we questioned this and requested a different seat, we were refused. Put a sour damper on the experience.

They are located in the beautifully repurposed old Mercedes-dealer building on the corner of the street in Wassenaar. Came here a few times already since they opened. Royale en comfortabele tafel, super mooi ingericht, vriendelijke bediening, verrassende kaart, heerlijke gerechten, prijs/kwaliteit in goede verhouding. Wij waren er voor het eerst en waren aangenaam verrast.

Delicious food, friendly staff, reasonable price

We waren met 7 familieleden. Het eten was uitstekend . Er is een prettige sfeer en goede bediening. Het terras buiten lijkt ons erg lawaaierig met het verkeer, maar daar hadden we natuurlijk geen last van als binnen zit.

We walked in at 7:15pm, sat at our table at 7:20pm. Ordered at 7:30pm. Our mains arrived at 9:00pm. Say no more. Never again !

What an asset to Wassenaar this is. We have had drinks here before and had dinner here for the first time today. The food was fantastic. The oysters were so tasty that we ordered another portion. Mees made the steak tartare and took all the time despite all the crowds. Truly worth a compliment. Definitely worth repeating for us and highly recommended for everyone!

Looks nice and cozy, good young service, but no eggs in the house on Mondays and... Half of the menu could not be ordered for lunch because delivery had not yet arrived. at least have someone go get some eggs.. The dessert was also already thrown together and expensive.. I won't be going back anytime soon..

Only 1 foreign waitress. So they manage to find staff. I would change the name: Who - coming from outside - will remember it? The food?: Great! Parking? Trouble!

We went there to celebrate a family event. The restaurant is quite dimly light which is nice for a romantic evening but certainly not of you have issues with your eyesight (forget about adjusting your make-up in the bathroom as well). Food was quite ok, however the culinary experience was somewhat ruined by the dessert. We had a grand dessert to share, that was presented on a wooden board. Great idea, unless you also use this board for presenting meat on other occasions, which was the case for our wooden board. Thus we had the unique opportunity to taste barbecue smelling and tasting chocolate and vanilla ice-cream and biscuits. Service was quite ok, if we don't consider offering lemony hand rincing water or wet-tissues a must when being served mules. So we ended up washing our hands in the toilet then walked back with dripping hands to our tables, because the hand dryer was out of order and nobody had been aware of the existence of paper towels.

Our intimate "wedding" party became a culinary party. From sushi to ChateauBriand to dessert... everything was delicious. Our taste buds have been awakened again.
