Restaurant Sophie in Wijk 00 Zuidwestelijk deel der gemeente

We have dined at Sophie's several times by now and were always very enthusiastic. Unfortunately, I am less positive about the new shared dining concept. The dishes are still well-seasoned and the quality is fine. However, I feel that the concept does not fit the location well. The menu consists mainly of meat dishes, whereas in my opinion there is little choice in vegetable and fish dishes. Moreover, the fish dishes are very small. I can easily imagine this concept for lunch, but for dinner I find it less successful. Therefore, as long as the shared dining concept remains, I unfortunately do not expect us to return. Of course, tastes differ, so I can imagine that others are actually enthusiastic about this concept.

Fine dining and an appealing menu. The dishes are of very high quality. We had a lovely time sitting in the garden.

A fantastic experience for the taste buds and the eye. Pleasant and professional service. Food unique and beautifully presented. Admittedly in the higher price range, but certainly worth trying and a return visit.

Beautiful location in historical building. Friendly service but could be more attentive (filling up water glasses, providing correct cutlery). We visited in Winter and restaurant temperature was a bit too cold. We ordered steak tartare as starter which was a bit disappointing (a bit plain) and the lobster soup which was delicious. As main course we also had steak which was delicious and duck breast which was quite chewy and also a bit disappointing.

I had the best steak of my life here in October 2025. Highly recommend to stick to staff suggestions for pairing the wine.

First of all, the setting is absolutely stunning. The castle and surrounding nature make it feel like you’ve stepped into a fairytale. The outdoor seating is spacious and peaceful, and the whole atmosphere is really something special. The service was excellent - super friendly and helpful throughout the evening. We especially loved the entrée China x Mexico - a creative fusion dim sum with so many layers of flavor. It was genuinely impressive. For dessert, both the rich chocolate mousse and the champagne mess were fantastic. We also really enjoyed the rosé wine, and the overall wine selection was solid. If I had to point out one thing, it would be the main course. The steak and the fish were good, but not quite at the same level as the rest. They just didn’t have that same wow factor. I think there’s definitely potential there though, given how great the other dishes were. All in all, we’d definitely come back - it’s a lovely place and a memorable experience.

Geen aperitiefhapje. Wanneer we het aperitief kregen kwam na 5 minuten reeds het voorgerecht. Een stukje brood moet je betalen. Eten was lekker maar niet echt in verhouding met de prijs.

Как же я счастлива, что мы забронировали столик в этом ресторане! Ресторан находится в замке Kasteel de Wittenburg, где мы остановились переночевать. Ресторан назван в честь первой владелицы замка баронессы Софи, которая со своим мужем под мира объездила. Романтический ужин вдвоем, безупречное обслуживание, еда была превосходной и вино чудесным!Я заказала ньокки с трюфелем и гребешками, на десерт крем-брюле, муж - стейк. И хлеб! Ах, какой у них вкуснейший хлеб. Завтрак рекомендую от души! Свежий хлеб, сыр, ветчина, сладкая выпечка, био йогурт с гранолой, фрукты и апельсиновый фреш. Очень, очень вкусно, сытно и эстетично. Персоналу от меня 100 звезд из 10. Безупречно все! Обязательно вернусь и в замок, и в ресторан снова.

Very pleasant dinner at Sophie's restaurant, in the beautiful Wittenburg Castle, previously discovered on the occasion of a wedding. A truly friendly and attentive welcome, two rooms decorated with an Asian taste and a very intimate atmosphere. The cuisine is of a good level, varied with remarkable meat, an open and informed choice of wines (we appreciated the Rioja, the Valpolicella and the Cazes-Languedoc) and an astonishing chocolate fondant. The pleasure was real, bravo to chef Jim, to the smiling and efficient Disha and to her colleagues, we will come back!

What a wonderful place! It starts with a spacious parking lot, just steps from the outdoor terrace. You'll receive a very warm welcome and be seated next to the idyllic pond and fountain. The menu is diverse, fusion, and beautifully flavored. The service is quick and friendly. There's still so much to discover on the menu; we'll be back!

Amazing place, unusual location near the castle, delicious food.

We had an excellent meal here for the third time. Here you'll find beautifully crafted dishes with surprising combinations. Served with a matching wine pairing. Hospitality is paramount. You'll receive excellent service, which makes the evening a truly memorable experience. Highly recommended!

Voor de tweede keer gedineerd. Genoten van het nieuwe menu. Opnieuw in de watten gelegd. Fijne sfeer, attente, deskundige bediening, heerlijk eten (fantastische kok), mooie wijnen. Aantrekkelijke gerechten, rijke smaken. We komen zeer zeker terug.

2 man service for the entire restaurant was a bit tight, but they did their best. The menus, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian, are delicious, with beautiful matching wines. Price/quality ok only 8.50 for a bottle of water?

De keuken van dit restaurant is niet speciaal. Het is gewoon goed. Het ene is wat beter en het andere wat minder. Globaal is dit gemiddeld goed. de wijnkaart is zeer sober en weinig boeiend en de wijnkaart met de zogenaamde exclusieve wijnen is zeer snel gelezen.

We had a delicious meal here and received a very friendly welcome. The setting in the basement feels a bit dark during the day. Very attractively decorated.

Na diverse malen hier tot tevredenheid gegeten hebbende kwamen we dit keer voor de lunch. We hebben merendeels dezelfde gerechten genomen en die zal ik dan ook beschrijven. 1 Oeufs a la Truffe ; O.a. gepocheerde eieren, truffel en cantharellen zoals de vriendelijke dame van de bediening zei. Vrij koude gepocheerde eieren, een armoedig ander paddenstoeltje en geen truffel te proeven. Niet onaardig maar voldeed zeker niet aan de verwachting. 2 Zalm, licht geroosterd : Bij de bestelling hebben wij uitputtend gevraagd de zalm inderdaad licht te roosteren aangezien te doorgegaarde zalm niet te eten is. Diezelfde vriendelijke dame hoorde alles belangstellend aan en gaf de bestelling door. Wat kregen we : een salade met gewoon gerookte zalm. Dan kan je wel vriendelijk zijn, maar heb je ook enige vakkennis ? En daar gaat de bedrijfsleiding in de fout en niet die dame. Overigens, Sophie heeft de maniertjes van een sterrenrestaurant want de wijnen gaan ongeveer 4x over de kop.

Op een prachtige locatie gedineerd, rustige setting en sfeervolle inrichting. Het eten was goed, miste op sommige gerechten een klein beetje smaak. Al met al een goede ervaring.

The restaurant is in the basement of a castle-like building and the name is of the first resident who was called Sophie. The food was really delicious. And the service was a very helpful and friendly table host.i

Spoiled to the fullest on the castle terrace by the warm-hearted Ida and her first-class team. Very well eaten and very happy.

We loved our time with Ida! From tasting the new line of Belgian gin to perhaps the best entrecote and sides we have ever tasted, our group of 5 + baby enjoyed every moment at Restaurant Sophie. There was something for everyone, and Ida's superb service made us all feel welcome and 'gezellig'. This was the second visit for my husband and I, first for the rest of our group, but certainly not our last. We can't wait to tour the castle next time!

Delicious food and beautiful ambiance

What a surprise this restaurant is! Every dish has something special. From the deliciously creamy fresh sauce on the scallops, perfectly home-made fries and buttery soft meat. The restaurant is a bit hidden, you drive up a driveway in a forest which leads to a romantic castle that houses restaurant Sophie. Truly enchanted and highly recommended. I'll definitely return.

Last Friday, September 4, 2020, we had dinner with four people. Wash top from A to Z. Creative dishes, atmospheric ambience and perfect service. As far as I'm concerned, Sophie restaurant deserves a Michelin star.

Excellent food and pleasant service at a fair price. Suggested improvements could be to include English menu and to introduce the dish when serving each course. Nonetheless, we would fully recommend this restaurant and be happy to go back.

Lots of character. Very interesting choice of menu.

Enjoyed the 3-course surprise menu Starter was a winner. Roasted salmon roll on the outside was cooked and the inside seemed raw and had a super soft taste with a nice bite. Main course was venison. Deliciously red. The warm vegetables were particularly tasty. Compliments!

Nice fusion. It's strange that you leave the coat upstairs unattended! 2nd time we had to grab our own coat after dinner! Not a nice idea.

A great restaurant and incomprehensible that it is not busier than it was yesterday. (8/3). Delicious food, warm, cozy atmosphere with very nice people who came with a glass of prosecco on the house when it turned out that we had something to celebrate. We had a starter and main course with wine pairing. At first I was suspicious of Chilean wine, but man, did it pair well with the Scallops with Smoked Cauliflower Cream. Very small minus: for my taste, the scallops could have been on the grill a little longer. The refined meat comes out better when they are less raw. And a very good price/quality ratio, which was also very pleasant. Worth repeating.

What an amazing location. Beautiful venue, great welcome and atmosphere. The service was superb! The first dishes were delicious: scallops and goose or duck liver. Also the paired wines were great! The main course was beyond disappointing: the deer was very chewy and the sides (apparently the Asian touch) were odd. The team was exceptional and responded very well to our feedback. Everything was corrected or taken care off. Unfortunately the disappointment of the main course contributed to a big part of the experience. Please note that I will recommend this place and most likely will come back as it has a stunning location and a lot of potential (they only opened some months ago)

Been here for the 2nd time in a short time with the same card. Very pleased, beautiful dishes prepared with attention and knowledge. Very friendly host and lady. Good wines. Really a place to enjoy a good evening. We will come back to the card change next spring.
