We had an incredibly fun private party with a delicious, extensive buffet that our friends are still talking about. The food was plentiful, with a wide selection of dishes, both starters and main courses. The food was interspersed with a pub quiz organized by the owner, who did this in a fun and spontaneous way. We'll definitely be back!

Really bad food. Schnitzel was probably there all day! We left everything. Nasty taste and not fresh! I would skip this place!

We had a great meal, there was a buffet with 3 types of meat, various salads and fries. There are 2 dart boards.

Great restaurant for lunch, dinner or drinks. Tasty steak. Sunny terrace. Good choice of specialty beers. It was quiet on Thursday evening. But we still received excellent and humorous service!

The service is just nice and relaxed, nice and normal but neat. The decor is homely with very funny signs. They have an open kitchen where you can chat with the chef (who also enjoys that) We had 2x lattes, 1x with Amaretto syrup and 1x with caramel syrup 1 word delicious We also had the prugel omelet Very well topped with chicken, salami, bacon, ham and cheese. So well filled that my friend (who can eat like an elephant) could barely finish it And the salmon sandwich A lovely thin layer of cream cheese, enough but not too much salmon And a delicious sauce on top, but also on the side if you want a little more We will definitely go here again And recommend it to everyone

We did not notice any of the friendliness mentioned in the reviews (probably friends and relatives...)... the wait staff regularly sits on their ass, waving at people outside and in the to make a mistake instead of asking once if everything is to your liking. Food was mediocre.

Don't be fooled by the simple appearance on the outside because this is a hidden gem! We were kindly received by the bartender and immediately felt welcome. Delicious Jägerschnitzel and Black Angus Burger. Had a nice chat with the friendly manager over coffee. A warm-hearted, funny man who clearly runs his business with passion. A very pleasant experience in a pleasant, homely atmosphere. An absolute must for anyone visiting Assen!

A truly delicious meal, it's also nice that there are more original dishes such as the Italian chicken. Service was very friendly, cheerful and fast. Price quality very good. However, one comment; please check the extraction, etc. We noticed when we got in the car/were home that our clothes smelled strongly of frying air. We settled here after a disappointing visit to the Drents Museum. The host was cordial and committed. We only asked for a cappuccino, a latte and two pastries, but we received our coffee with extra liqueur and we 'had' to taste the Van Gogh tompoes. Which was absolutely not disappointing! Prugel made our visit to Assen worthwhile. Five stars well deserved!

We recently moved to Assen. Went here on the recommendation of friends. Just a nice cafe, friendly owner, nice staff, delicious food for normal prices. Nice atmosphere, friendly, and the terrace (nice and sunny) is highly recommended for lunch or drinks. See you again soon!

Had dinner last night with my sister-in-law, brother-in-law and husband. From the mustard soup, tomato/pepper soup, 3 different schnitzels, tenderloin tips, to the farm boys, eggnog and walnut ice cream, everything was prepared with love. Big compliment to the owner/cook and the friendly young lady in charge.

Walking through Assen looking for a nice restaurant. Ended up at Prugel. Delicious food, friendly service and a great atmosphere. Marco cooks with humor and passion!

Service was good, food was a bit bland in taste. Not really exciting. The furnishings are in need of an update or modernization. Open kitchen is nice, but it has to look tacky. Not unsatisfactory, but there is room for improvement.

Tasty and cozy food. Friendly welcome. Would have gotten 5 stars if not so many choices on the menu were not available and even the option of fried potatoes instead of fries is no longer available. Supposed to be coarsely cut farmer's fries, but it was regular fries and the warm vegetables suddenly became a sour little salad. Also heard others complain that their choices were not available. Paid parking on the outside edge of the center within walking distance.

Had dinner with friends and their children on Friday evening. Very cozy from the moment you enter. The food was, without exaggerating, very tasty. One of the children wanted vegetarian, which was no problem at all, everything was arranged down to the last detail. If you want to eat very tasty food for not too much money in a small-scale but very cozy restaurant, then Prugel is a must.....

I didn't know this restaurant yet, but came across it in my search for a Christmas dinner box. The food was ready hot at the agreed time. The carpaccio chocolates were really great! The various main courses were all delicious and more than enough for 2 people. The chocolate dessert was unbeatable! After the lockdown we will definitely come and eat in the restaurant. Well, six months later I finally physically ate at Prugel. The food was still fantastic! Good portions, really more than enough, and really tasty. Extremely friendly owners. Our 3-year-old daughter also received a lot of attention and, just like us, had a wonderful evening. We are going to send people to you, great!!

We had a delicious meal on King's Day for a great price. Easily one of the better cafes in Assen. The coffee or tea tray at the end is highly recommended. We will definitely come again soon!

Delicious food today! Dolle Drie was delicious, concluded with a board full of goodies. Lovely atmosphere, and a year-old chef who has a passion for good cooking. A place to come back to soon.

We live in Assen and felt like going out for dinner. Just Googled it and searched for restaurants in Assen. Got the highest rating and off to Prugel (a nice Drenthe word). Free parking (after 6:00 PM) around the corner. We went inside and a magical feeling arose, this is one of those tents where you can really enjoy a delicious meal with someone who cooks with passion. And above all, think along with and for the guest. What did we eat? The chef's signature, the Dolle Drie, is highly recommended and we also got a Dolle :-). A very attractive, honest restaurant where you feel that it is right and these kinds of things are special and in our own hometown. Kudos to the owner Marco and his guests, we will visit again soon and keep an eye on the Facebook page. Reservations are recommended due to the limited number of tables (18 people)

We had a stew tasting here last week. It was plentiful and super tasty. A glass of wine and Marco's pleasant stories completed the evening for us. And oh yes, they also have other goodies than just stews! See you next time when we are back in Axis.

We had a wonderful meal here and enjoyed the informal, cozy atmosphere. We opted for the pork tenderloin with mushroom sauce and the chicken stew. Both tasted delicious! The delicious dessert made it complete. An ideal location for us after a museum visit and within walking distance of the station. If this restaurant was closer, we would definitely go here much more often! We wish you the best of luck with the tightened opening hours, but the collectors will certainly be able to find you again!

A hidden gem in the city center of Assen. A cozy and attractive restaurant. Not too big, but that is an advantage. This creates a pleasant informal atmosphere. However, there is absolute attention to the needs of every customer. If you find it pleasant to participate in conversations with other customers and owners, you can do so. If you prefer to be in your own bubble, that is also respected and taken into account. The menu is varied and has something for everyone. A delicious stew is also possible during the stew season.
