REM in Westelijk Havengebied

We had a fantastic set-course dinner here. The food was amazing especially the eel, which was our favorite. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the chef did a great job. Highly recommended!

We had high expectations beforehand, but unfortunately, they weren't met. The dishes weren't anything special and quite small. At one point, we were served hare with sardines, which nobody really liked. After dinner, we stopped by McDonald's because we were all hungry. The service was also occasionally lacking. We refilled our glasses ourselves several times and had to struggle to get their attention to order something when we all had empty glasses. After the first two appetizers, the waiter asked us how many rounds we'd had. Furthermore, I had to indicate at the end what we'd had. The non-alcoholic wine pairings and options for pregnant women were good, though. All in all, for the price you pay here, you expect finesse, quality, and top-notch service. That level is simply not achieved here. I would definitely not recommend this.

The location and the place itself is very unique. The staff was very nice and we really felt taken care of. They were able to cater to everyone's dietary restrictions. However, the food was not really that great. Some dishes were good, but some were not, the portions were quite small, the bread was just alright, and the main dish was barely edible. There's a lot nicer places (food-wise) for the same price in Amsterdam.

Unique location with a beautiful view. The dishes were mediocre. Creative flavor combinations unfortunately didn't work in most dishes, and in some cases were downright bad. The portions per course were more like amuse-bouches. The accompanying wines were distinctive and good. Very poor value for money.

The service was very good, but we were disappointed with the dishes. For a 7 course menu, having duck with 3 dishes including the mains one, it was mediocre and not compatible with the cost (a bill of 340 EUR). The desert was also disappointing, below average for such food experience investment.

Wonderful service with a well composed menu, in an exciting location!

Food might genuinely be the worst I had at a restaurant. Wine was nice but I cannot stress how bad the food was. The eel dish with a croissant style waffle might be the most diabolical condition I have come across. Not to mention for the wild duck dish we were told that we had watch out for gun pellets in the duck.

Stunning ambience and great service combined with food which cannot keep quite up with this. The REM is located in the old timber Harbour of Amsterdam in amazing building with one of the best views on Amsterdam. Bring some time as they serve a 5 or 7 dishes menu. The service is absolutely on point whilst still quite relaxed and modern. The wine and drinks are of high quality. But when it comes to the food it is getting a bit difficult. All well made but it wants to be more than it is. Within our menu (see fruits, fish, pasta, dug, strawberries and rice as main components) nothing really fitted well together and nothing was outstanding. I expect simply more when you easily pay more than 100€ per peson incl. drinks. If you look for an amazing view and experience try it, but maybe not if it should be all about the food.

REM is certainly a unique location, both as a restaurant with a bar and a rooftop terrace with an outdoor bar. This former offshore and broadcast platform offers stunning 360° views of the IJ River and the Houthaven area. However, we only enjoyed some wine and snacks on the rooftop terrace, so unfortunately I can't comment on the restaurant, menu, etc.!😉🤷

I was able to book in for drinks a week prior to visiting the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and we had an amazing sunset. They also have some food options if you go with the bar. Everything was delicious! If you want to have a dinner, book 2 weeks ahead.

An astonishing experience. First, the location is unique, as is the rooftop experience. Went for the seven course menu. Aside from being delightful, the seven dishes made for a playful yet coherent ensemble, with a gentle progression in flavours and textures. Oh and the wine pairing is without par. Will go back!

Very bad experience, we paid €300 euros for 2 people, for dining and drinks. In the add they said “ unlimited cocktails”, which actually meant 4 mixtures of drinks, that is not an actual cocktail but just easy to make. Asked for a normal pornstar martini, but that was too much work. the food was HORRIBLE and DISGUSTING. tasted so bad that we didn’t even eat the last couple of courses. It was supposed te be “fine dining” , but it was very cheap food that you have to get yourself from a platter. Not even served as a nice dish or garnished. No just like you are a teen houseparty, you get to eat very cheap and nasty, without a plate. Feel conned, never again! Would recommend no one to go here.

This is a very mix experience and we will rather explore the many other options in Amsterdam the next time around Let’s start with the positive: - the place is very nice and when booking for what was my last dinner in the city after 8 years, special attention was given in terms of sitting place. Truly top hospitality - Ben our Irish waiter , on spot ! Very friendly made the whole evening pleasant Now the less positive: - lets start with the biggest issue: the noise. The music in the restaurant was extremely loud, as a way to potentially hide the sound coming from downstairs where a party was taking place. That did not work at all, we found ourselves with a combo of ABBA on speakers downstairs with jazz blasting in our ears. Very unpleasant and trully killed the vibe. - the food: though you can tell there is a lot of research in term of ingredients quality and flavors and innovation; In most of the dishes the combinations does not work. For the eel for example; the sauce is too thick and too overpowering, an espuma, with the same flavor would avoid that the incredible eel flavor disappear. Only 2 dishes out of the 9 we got were well balanced. - the Upselling, we all know that in such environnement that money is made on alcohol. But what was sold and advised to us as a house champagne to start with the amuse, was actually a glass of Deutz for 25 euros per glass, which we only see later on… not great - the little sweet box with the bill, good idea but full of old wrapper left by previous clients. - we had to ask 3 times to 3 different waited for a beer to be served For this price point (+150 euro per person), even in Amsterdam I was expecting a different experience it left us disappointed. The place has a lot to offer to make it one of the best spot of the city, but it is a hit and miss

We did a 'walking dinner' at REM during SAIL and sadly it was not an experience to be recommended. There was very little food available [we got four small plates including dessert, and had to fight with the staff to even get those]. There was no dinner - the event should have been called "an open bar with a few hapjes", to avoid miscommunication.

An exceptional place! A former pirate radio station on a platform rehabilitated into a secluded bar and restaurant in the middle of Amsterdam's harbor, a stroke of genius! The 360° view is extraordinary; the sun was shining, it was a gift! The sunset bathes the place, a mirage for the eyes and the soul... The staff is adorable and truly welcoming, a true pleasure. The musical atmosphere is fantastic, a cocoon in which to enjoy top-notch drink suggestions. It's a shame we couldn't make a reservation for dinner at the second-floor restaurant; we would have happily lingered there.

First time at Rem very excited as many people we know have said great things about the place. The food was amazing but my partner does not eat fish so not only we’ve made a note to mention this when we made the reservation but have also mentioned it to the waitress who served us…and then the fish dish is served for both us so we politely reminded them that my partner doesn’t eat fish which caused the waitress to embark on a sass journey. She was either disappointed with us sending the dish back (honestly it wasn’t that big a deal mistakes can happen) but she didn’t even come to the table to acknowledge the mistake. We were also trying to get someone’s attention for bread and she rudely came over and told us off mentioning she saw us already we just have to wait for her to finish serving other tables. We pretty much got other waiters serving us for the rest of the evening, another one then considering himself a comedian decided it would be a good idea to make fun of my partners dietary preferences and said as he served the duck: don’t tell me you don’t eat it cause it swims. I mean give the man a stage, he shouldn’t be serving tables but fill up stadiums with large crowds to make them laugh…. Anyway point being it started off strong the cocktails we had on the roof were great the bartender was great but if I’m gonna pay 100+ euros pp I don’t need it come with sassy, rude waiters, just be a nice person, come to the table, address that there was a misunderstanding and let’s all move on. Lastly, if you claim you have an alcoholic pairing with the menu, when serving the ice tea please consider offering it as an option against a wine or other beverage, because the Eastern European in me would like the full on alcoholic experience not being tainted by some kambucha tasting tea.

The food is a delicious experience. I think everything at Rem's is just right. Unconventional, with a great view over Amsterdam and very attentive service. Go there and be amazed!

We just got engaged and had dinner here to celebrate. Things started out very nicely and the rooftop and cocktails were very nice. However the service and staff are borderline rude. The food was good but the service was terrible. Both me and my partner felt uneasy and uncomfortable.I had left a note with the reservation that I do not eat seafood and also let the waitress and the person who greeted us know. Despite this I was served the fish and the waitress taking care of our table was extremely rude. When we could not get any servers attention for more than 5 minutes I had to look around and gesture to another waiter. When the waitress came back with the bread she said in a condescending tone “ I saw you, you just have to wait” and practically dumped the food on the table. Another waiter also made inappropriate comments when serving the duck and said “oh you sure youll be fine cause ducks also live in water”. We got the alcoholic pairing with the 7 courses and one of the drinks was a tea. This came as a surprise to me as this should be flagged before hand. One of the drinks was also a beer and we werent even given a full pour. The timing for the wines were also a bit weird and the entire course took way too long

Just amazing place, food is delicious, service is outstanding. To start with we enjoyed drinks on the rooftop and later went for dinner. Highly recommend this place for a romantic date. Quality is absolutely matching the price.

REM had been on my list for a while, and yesterday it finally happened. I can only say it was a hugely disappointing and expensive experience. The service was great and the wines delicious, but the food was simply awful. The starter was simply not good, and the dishes that followed were bland and boring. The cheese board was good, though. I definitely wouldn't go back. Such a shame, as we really wanted to like it.

We had a great evening enjoying informal fine dining with a stunning view. The atmosphere was relaxed yet elegant, and the staff were incredibly welcoming, making the experience feel special. The food was mostly excellent—thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The only weak point was the starters at the rooftop bar, which didn’t quite match the quality of the main courses. The only downside was the timing: the dinner lasted about four hours, which felt a bit too long. A slightly faster pace would have improved the flow of the evening. Overall, a memorable night with great food, service, and ambiance.

Very relaxed welcome. After first having a drink on 'the rooftop', taken downstairs. 7-course menu + matching drinks arrangement taken. It is in the details of the service that made the experience great: if you step away from the table for a moment, your chair is pushed forward and the napkin is neatly made. The serving only takes place when everyone is seated. Knowledge of the drinks is excellent and the food was fantastic. The dessert was not to my taste but the other 6 courses were 100% top. Price-quality was also good. Of course, it is all a bit more expensive than when you go to an a-la-carte restaurant, but you prepare for that. Toilets were also neat and clean. All in all, a few hours of fantastic dining.

Beautiful place with a fantastic view over the IJ. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal. Prices are quite high and personally a bit out of balance. The menu is good with 2 highlights but the intermediate course lets it down.

Truly a delightful and delicious meal. I tried so many things I never even thought possible. It’s hard to pick a favorite course but the Peking Duck and the Pike-Perch dish were exceptional

Special place with beautiful view

First of all the story of the place plus the location makes it an experience per se. The food & drinks are the extra bonus 😁 We loved the food, the service (amazing staff, chatty and flirty… 😍).

Incredibly cool event location. The "offshore building" was formerly home to a pirate radio station, 12 km offshore from Amsterdam. It exudes a very special charm. There are several floors that can be used for events, a restaurant, and a rooftop bar. The food is delicious. There are various modules that can be booked for finger food, meals, and drinks... The staff is very friendly and professional. We had a lot of fun at our event, and our guests were absolutely blown away. The later it gets, the more impressive the scenery and view become.

Absolutely the best restaurant in Amsterdam - on an oil rig (off shore platform) - way to repurpose‼️ you take that atmosphere with an OUTSTANDING group of the most friendly/knowledgeable/kind people serving creative delicious (actually delicious is an understatement) food with award winning combinations/pairings & you have an experience - thank you ALL - I would give 10 STARS‼️💐. Great location near the IJ river and beautiful view. The food is creative and tasty, using noble products, even if the cooks use too much sugar in their meals (seems to be common in the Netherlands). I didn't appreciate the surprise 4.50€ "water service" surcharge for tap water.

A great, truly unique restaurant in an old oil rig, or something similar. The food is impressively creative and tastes great. However, you should definitely plan plenty of time to enjoy it all.

Great spot for cocktails & watching the sunset.

We booked REM for our post wedding dinner with guests. The location and the place is amazing. Very unique refurbished offshore platform. When we came we were welcomed with some snacks and some drinks at the lower floor. Soon after we moved upstairs where we had our dinner. It was 5 course dinner. Everything was very unique and fish based. The sardine starter was the best for me. The other dishes they sounded really amazing but I don't think they had wow effect taste wise. But I was able to try fish I never tried in my life. The dessert was savory which was very surprising. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Their butter was very new to me with 3 different tastes. Overall I think everything was perfect but the dishes could be slightly worked on to really fit the fine dining experience.

A must try if you’re in Amsterdam ! The food, the service and the setting were all amazing ! The whole experience is definitely worth a try

Great location!! Super roof terrace with beautiful views over Amsterdam. We had a 7 course dinner and expectations were high! The service was top notch at the table. They were small dishes and a lot of time and energy had been put into the preparation. Yet we were not blown away. We expected more for this money. In addition, we were actually still hungry afterwards and that is special after 7 courses. The dessert was really the star of the evening, while we are not really into that. But that also says something about the rest. Tasty, but not special and too expensive. Unfortunately, the bill we paid was also incorrect, something that can happen. They didn't make a fuss about that. Made a significant difference, which they immediately gave back. Nice to have been but won't be going back anytime soon.

It was a nice experience. The main problem was that between every dish there was a gap of 30 minutes. The food was interesting, very diversed. Overall recommend but prepare to come for a long meal

Came here for a drink with my colleagues after work. Stunning view on a nice weather day, wonderful sunset moment. Has a chill and romantic vibe. We had some snacks with drinks. The butter in a lego shape is very interesting. The place used to be a pirate radio station, wish they could show more information and history then it would attract more people to come experience

The food was good, but the service left me quite uncomfortable. When the waiter asked if I enjoyed everything, I said “pretty much” and explained that I wasn’t fond of the cheese selection, as I generally don’t like soft cheeses. Instead of simply acknowledging my preference, he began questioning multiple times why I hadn’t mentioned it earlier and pressed the issue in a rather rude and boorish tone. The questions that followed felt increasingly intrusive and inappropriate, crossing personal boundaries in a way that’s simply not acceptable in a fine dining setting. What could have been a pleasant evening was, unfortunately, overshadowed by this unnecessary and uncomfortable exchange.

I had a dinner at REM in honor of my promotion and it was in one word: fantastic! The food was incredibly tasteful, with surprising combinations of flavors and structures and good matching wines. The location is beautiful, the staff super friendly and relaxed and think along with everything, which made me have a really carefree evening.

If you are looking for something unusual, then this is your place. Very tasty.

Truly original and exceptional setting in the middle of nowhere, with an exceptional view. Superb welcome (in English). Valentine's Day menu in 5 courses. Everything was perfect except for the dish with sea urchins/shellfish (first course) which we liked less. The rest was delicious. The dessert was really great too. To do!

I went for Valentine’s day and it was such a good idea! The staff is so sweet and very welcoming. The place itself is so unique for Amsterdam, I loved the view and the atmosphere. When I left I even got a rose ❤️ It made my night! Very high quality service, amazing drinks, food, and view! 10/10 🫶

I had high expectations about this restaurant because of its Michelin star-level reputation. I was there with a group of colleagues and we had their tasting menu. The gap between my expectations and reality is the only reason why I’m not giving it five stars. It still makes sense to go there for a special night or to delight your customers. Nonetheless, there may be other places not too far from it that offer better value, better food and a better experience.

Service is excellent; food is experimental and probably different visitors will like different dishes. We liked risotto from seeds, mackerel and mussels sausages which resemble German cuisine or some sort of satire on it. Soy tofu ice cream is also tasty and curious and goes unexpectedly well with wasabi.

My fiancé and I were excited for our last dinner in Amsterdam and the last one of our Europe trip to be at REM! Unfortunately, I started feeling sick the day before and wasn't able to finish our 7-course meal with drink pairings. The hospitality of the staff was amazing. They kindly checked in with us asking if there was anything they could do help me feel better. In the end, I wasn't able to find enough energy to stay after the 4th course. While we were willing to pay for everything, we were only charged for what we consumed and sent on our way. We will never forget the consideration we received and will definitely look to make another reservation when revisiting Amsterdam. The restaurant is out there but absolutely worth going out of your way for. The view from the rooftop bar is incredible, and the interior is funky. The food was sophisticated yet playful. I think the bread and seaweed butter will live rent free in my head for a while. I also really appreciate the non-alcoholic drink pairing option because I have a low tolerance.

The service staff was phenomenal; personable, present, attentive, with sublime attention to detail and adaptive to our needs. The food was incredibly special, well explained and refined, subtle, yet strong. Paired with a beautiful view and enough room to enjoy each other's company undisturbed.

The location is really great. Beautiful view and the construction of the object really appeals to me. The food was a bit less. We had a six course menu. There were many dishes with fish. For someone, like me, who is not a fan of fish, that is a challenge. There was even a dish that I left parts of. And they still asked if it tasted good😂. Dessert was the real disappointment. For me. The mocktail, virgin Jim, a highlight. The whole thing took 3 hours and 45 minutes. Something to take into account with parking. I find it difficult to make a final judgement. Many pluses, but certainly also minuses.

When you arrive you will see the impressive REM rising from the water. The industrial appearance is exchanged for a warm, hip and cozy environment for having a drink at the cocktail bar and dining. The food was fantastic and we were served delicious wines. Big compliment to the staff who were very professional, but authentic. We will definitely come back here!

I can’t stress how great the food was. The service was just fantastic. The vibe of the place is incredible as it’s not pretentious at all. It’s so inviting! I’ve been living in The Netherlands for almost 2 years this has been, without a doubt, the best dinner we’ve had. I’ll make sure to bring some friends next time.

Delicious food, good service and a wonderful experience. The quality of the food is very good, a true taste sensation! Management does their best to serve you well. The atmosphere is nice and informal, you can come in your nice suit or in your t-shirt. For the complete experience I would highly recommend the drinks menu!

While very beautiful, warm and impressive from a design and architectural point of view, we did not find the food impressive enough (and left hungry). But kudos to the waiting staff who served our group of 15 to the perfection never leaving us waiting.

Excellent time! Very warm welcome for our French family with our 3 children. We had a drink at the bar late in the afternoon. Superb view, top service. Incredible place! A change of scenery guaranteed and only 15 minutes by bike from the center of Amsterdam!
