Great spot for cocktails & watching the sunset.

We booked REM for our post wedding dinner with guests. The location and the place is amazing. Very unique refurbished offshore platform. When we came we were welcomed with some snacks and some drinks at the lower floor. Soon after we moved upstairs where we had our dinner. It was 5 course dinner. Everything was very unique and fish based. The sardine starter was the best for me. The other dishes they sounded really amazing but I don't think they had wow effect taste wise. But I was able to try fish I never tried in my life. The dessert was savory which was very surprising. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Their butter was very new to me with 3 different tastes. Overall I think everything was perfect but the dishes could be slightly worked on to really fit the fine dining experience.

Great location!! Super roof terrace with beautiful views over Amsterdam. We had a 7 course dinner and expectations were high! The service was top notch at the table. They were small dishes and a lot of time and energy had been put into the preparation. Yet we were not blown away. We expected more for this money. In addition, we were actually still hungry afterwards and that is special after 7 courses. The dessert was really the star of the evening, while we are not really into that. But that also says something about the rest. Tasty, but not special and too expensive. Unfortunately, the bill we paid was also incorrect, something that can happen. They didn't make a fuss about that. Made a significant difference, which they immediately gave back. Nice to have been but won't be going back anytime soon.

It was a nice experience. The main problem was that between every dish there was a gap of 30 minutes. The food was interesting, very diversed. Overall recommend but prepare to come for a long meal

Came here for a drink with my colleagues after work. Stunning view on a nice weather day, wonderful sunset moment. Has a chill and romantic vibe. We had some snacks with drinks. The butter in a lego shape is very interesting. The place used to be a pirate radio station, wish they could show more information and history then it would attract more people to come experience

The food was good, but the service left me quite uncomfortable. When the waiter asked if I enjoyed everything, I said “pretty much” and explained that I wasn’t fond of the cheese selection, as I generally don’t like soft cheeses. Instead of simply acknowledging my preference, he began questioning multiple times why I hadn’t mentioned it earlier and pressed the issue in a rather rude and boorish tone. The questions that followed felt increasingly intrusive and inappropriate, crossing personal boundaries in a way that’s simply not acceptable in a fine dining setting. What could have been a pleasant evening was, unfortunately, overshadowed by this unnecessary and uncomfortable exchange.

I had a dinner at REM in honor of my promotion and it was in one word: fantastic! The food was incredibly tasteful, with surprising combinations of flavors and structures and good matching wines. The location is beautiful, the staff super friendly and relaxed and think along with everything, which made me have a really carefree evening.

If you are looking for something unusual, then this is your place. Very tasty.

Truly original and exceptional setting in the middle of nowhere, with an exceptional view. Superb welcome (in English). Valentine's Day menu in 5 courses. Everything was perfect except for the dish with sea urchins/shellfish (first course) which we liked less. The rest was delicious. The dessert was really great too. To do!

I went for Valentine’s day and it was such a good idea! The staff is so sweet and very welcoming. The place itself is so unique for Amsterdam, I loved the view and the atmosphere. When I left I even got a rose ❤️ It made my night! Very high quality service, amazing drinks, food, and view! 10/10 🫶

I had high expectations about this restaurant because of its Michelin star-level reputation. I was there with a group of colleagues and we had their tasting menu. The gap between my expectations and reality is the only reason why I’m not giving it five stars. It still makes sense to go there for a special night or to delight your customers. Nonetheless, there may be other places not too far from it that offer better value, better food and a better experience.

Service is excellent; food is experimental and probably different visitors will like different dishes. We liked risotto from seeds, mackerel and mussels sausages which resemble German cuisine or some sort of satire on it. Soy tofu ice cream is also tasty and curious and goes unexpectedly well with wasabi.

My fiancé and I were excited for our last dinner in Amsterdam and the last one of our Europe trip to be at REM! Unfortunately, I started feeling sick the day before and wasn't able to finish our 7-course meal with drink pairings. The hospitality of the staff was amazing. They kindly checked in with us asking if there was anything they could do help me feel better. In the end, I wasn't able to find enough energy to stay after the 4th course. While we were willing to pay for everything, we were only charged for what we consumed and sent on our way. We will never forget the consideration we received and will definitely look to make another reservation when revisiting Amsterdam. The restaurant is out there but absolutely worth going out of your way for. The view from the rooftop bar is incredible, and the interior is funky. The food was sophisticated yet playful. I think the bread and seaweed butter will live rent free in my head for a while. I also really appreciate the non-alcoholic drink pairing option because I have a low tolerance.

The service staff was phenomenal; personable, present, attentive, with sublime attention to detail and adaptive to our needs. The food was incredibly special, well explained and refined, subtle, yet strong. Paired with a beautiful view and enough room to enjoy each other's company undisturbed.

Good acoustics in the restaurant, so didnt have to talk loud at my table

The location is really great. Beautiful view and the construction of the object really appeals to me. The food was a bit less. We had a six course menu. There were many dishes with fish. For someone, like me, who is not a fan of fish, that is a challenge. There was even a dish that I left parts of. And they still asked if it tasted good😂. Dessert was the real disappointment. For me. The mocktail, virgin Jim, a highlight. The whole thing took 3 hours and 45 minutes. Something to take into account with parking. I find it difficult to make a final judgement. Many pluses, but certainly also minuses.

When you arrive you will see the impressive REM rising from the water. The industrial appearance is exchanged for a warm, hip and cozy environment for having a drink at the cocktail bar and dining. The food was fantastic and we were served delicious wines. Big compliment to the staff who were very professional, but authentic. We will definitely come back here!

Very nice and chill place to go with your loved one or friend. Great service. Especially Hadi (I don’t know how to write it) but he brought a major vibe. I would love someone like him working for me aswell. Recommend this place to everybody. Food is also very good FYI.

I can’t stress how great the food was. The service was just fantastic. The vibe of the place is incredible as it’s not pretentious at all. It’s so inviting! I’ve been living in The Netherlands for almost 2 years this has been, without a doubt, the best dinner we’ve had. I’ll make sure to bring some friends next time.

The atmosphere is nice and informal, you can come in your nice suit or in your t-shirt. For the complete experience I would highly recommend the drinks menu!

While very beautiful, warm and impressive from a design and architectural point of view, we did not find the food impressive enough (and left hungry). But kudos to the waiting staff who served our group of 15 to the perfection never leaving us waiting.

Excellent time! Very warm welcome for our French family with our 3 children. We had a drink at the bar late in the afternoon. Superb view, top service. Incredible place! A change of scenery guaranteed and only 15 minutes by bike from the center of Amsterdam!

I went with friends to a concert in Amsterdam and we wanted to have dinner and a nice time before our event. We spontaneously went to this Rooftop with great location and views and were not disappointed. The bartender George saved our evening with his excellent and gently service. This sexy, manly and artistic Englishman made us delicious cocktails and gave us great food recommendations. Don't miss the oysters, the best. Great music and ambient perfect to enjoy the sunset. I would definitely come back.

Staff were great but the food was terrible. Nothing was good. We stopped before dessert. Two cold mussels with an oysters out of its shell as a dish and chewy lamb for 200 euros. Unfortunate because staff were great and view is phenomenal but we considered ordering food afterwards because of how little we could eat.

At the start of the evening we were offered a cocktail menu. Shortly afterwards, a male colleague who received us earlier came and told us rather rudely that it was stupid to order cocktails before dinner. This is how the evening started. The quality of the food was excellent, but the quantity was just too little, as if it were all appetizers. Allergies were very well taken into account. The waitress who helped us was very friendly and helpful! Finally, it turned out that we had to pay for the tap water supplied, something that I think would be nice if this was reported in advance. The Apple Old Fashioned was very tasty. Highly recommended.

Was doing some photography in the area so popped in to see what it was like inside. The day we went there was a private party but the staff still welcomed us and sat us at a table close to the bar. This place is absolutely awesome.

Fine dining in an extra-fine venue that doesn't take itself too seriously. My date and I loved the rooftop bar with its panoramic views. We had the five course dinner with the half-pour wine pairing. Extra points for a full vegetarian option for my partner, with alternative pairings when appropriate. Each dish was wonderfully flavourful and different, and the whole collection made for a diverse experience. Lots of nice details, like the bread spreads being delivered in the shape of Pac-Man approaching a ghost, which matched some of the decor. The staff were very friendly and reasonable. It's not cheap, but we felt that it was very reasonable for the experience. You aren't paying a premium for a famous name - the euros are on display in the venue and you will taste them over the course of several hours.

We enjoyed dinner at REM while visiting Amsterdam and sincerely enjoyed the entire experience. We took public transportation from our hotel (W Amsterdam) and it was easy enough to get to via the tram and bus. We were welcomed in and started with a few items in the bar while also being served suggested drinks. We opted for the 7-course dinner with wine pairings, which felt well worth it to go all-in on the experience. Our waiter (and everyone else who helped us) was knowledgeable and each course was delightful. It was a highlight of our trip to Amsterdam, and we'd certainly be back to try new creations if we're ever in the area again!

Good food, but with room for improvement. In any case, you should eat here for the experience. The drilling platform and the view of the harbor is unique in Amsterdam. The welcome with a handwritten card and the warm, friendly staff is also something that sets this restaurant apart from many establishments in Amsterdam. As far as the food is concerned, it is on the high side in terms of price/quality compared to other gastrobars with similar concepts. Some dishes such as the mullet tartare, the amuze, the gnocci, rib and even the bread board stood out both visually and in terms of taste. The mussel and cockle starter did not seem to be cleaned properly, causing bits of shell to unintentionally add a crunchy experience to the dish. The dessert was tasty but in terms of experience it was of a lower class than the aforementioned dishes. The matching pairing was very well chosen to complement the taste of the sauces of the dishes. In terms of taste experience, I understand the La Trappe Isid'or, but such a bottle of beer from the supermarket is less in line with what you expect as a guest with a pairing of 65 euros. Something more exciting could have been substituted, one that better suits the experience. Finally, the staff was very enthusiastic in the service. In practice, this meant that the moment you put down your fork, the next course was already placed on the table. Even after they were asked to slow down a bit, it happened that they were already standing at the table and then left because the dish was not yet finished. We thought that was a shame, because this hurried behavior detracted from what we came for: relaxing, enjoying good food and quality time together. The allergy requests that had been communicated well in advance and discussed upon receipt also turned out to be a little more difficult to accommodate at the table or were not properly addressed, which made my girlfriend feel a bit reluctant to start it again. Bottom line, it certainly shouldn't spoil the fun. See the points mentioned above as an opportunity to realize the full potential of REM, because that is certainly possible!

This place is a scam, the food is mediocre at best. They offer you a drink upon entrance without giving you a menu card and the drinks are not included in the amuse bouche. The chair I was given was broken, as a result it broke my sweater and the server didn’t care. If you know and enjoy great food this is not the place for you. Edit -don’t get fooled by their comment, they asked my number but ended up never calling. Either they forgot or either they want to make it look like they take care and consider bad reviews

We had a wonderful dinner at REM! I’d been wanting to go to this restaurant for years and it totally delivered. Such a cool space. The food was delicious. The service was fantastic, everyone was so kind and attentive. Hard to understand some of the bad reviews. It is quite a long dinner though, so prepare to be there for awhile. Highly recommend!

This was Rem's second time for us. The experience was just as unforgettable as the first time with delicious dishes and staff who know exactly how to receive and treat their guests. The dishes are extremely inventive and tasty. The plates are beautifully presented and the accompanying drinks package (choice of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) really completes it.

Interesting experience, but mainly because of location. Tried 5 course option, and it was ok. Mild, and mellow with couple interesting teases. But the whole dinner experience- not too great as size of portions is not helping the mellow flavors. Staff is knowledgeable but can pass as slightly snobbish. Water is served as “service “ so constant refills.

Very unique location, great views, good atmosphere, really lovely staff and decent wine selection but the food was below expectations. The amuse bouche were promising, however all the seafood / fish dishes had a consistency of boiled fish, the gnocchi dish was made of “recycled bread”, which once again resulted in the wrong consistency (resembled a knodel, not gnocchi, despite the great flavor and my personal favourite on the menu), the duck pate/muisjes dish was borderline not edible, dessert was ok. The sauces were great with all the dishes but the meat preparation was lacking. Overall would come back for drinks but not for the food.

We were really looking forward to this evening as it was a special celebration for us. Unfortunately we were disappointed all around. We were literally told "you're last table of the evening so you have to hurry to your table" upon arrival. The wait staff rushing around, verging on rude with their delivery of this message. Each course arriving fast after the next, we asked to slow down as we wanted to enjoy ourselves and were told no, the kitchen is closing. Despite having sent in that I had allergies there was nothing prepared and the only option was to have less courses. As a chef I think having a gluten allergy is a pretty easy one to accommodate. We don't eat meat but couldn't have the fish main as it was crumbed so we had the beetroot main without the pasta/main element of the dish. Then instead we were served duck??? It seems to me that this restaurant relies on its views for success, the rest was truly underwhelming.

It's been a long time coming but..we finally tried REM and oh boy did they delivered. The wine menu is taylored to perfection. You can be an amateur and let yourself be guided by the staff or you can know your wines and either way you are going to have an amazing experience. The food is top notch and the whole venue is very cool without being over the top. Overall you have an amazing course dinner without feeling like they are trying too hard or you are out of place while at the same time having an amazing experience. I hope more recognitions are coming their way because they deserve it for sure.

Had the pleasure of dining at REM with my husband while on a long weekend trip in Amsterdam. This was one of the best restaurant experiences we had. Everything from the warm, welcoming, and personable staff to the very innovative and delish dishes to the outstanding and unique drink pairings was top notch. This is how fine dining should be - relaxed vibe where risks are appropriately taken to provide a truly one of a kind experience. Went on a father-daughter date as a belated father's day gift. George greeted us at the door and offered a friendly welcome explaining the restaurant's background and order of service. We had a glass of wine at the bar before heading upstairs where we began our incredibly inventive, delicious 5 course dinner overlooking the water. Every drink complemented the dishes incredibly well. Our personal favourites were the cold sake and (virgin) take on bloody mary. Each dish that came to our table took us by surprise both in presentation and flavour. These are culinary artists in the kitchen, on the floor, and behind the scenes! Would recommend REM to any foodie wishing to experience something unforgettably brilliant on their visit to Amsterdam. Thank you all for what you do!

The dishes were beautiful to look at and very tasty. The sauces in particular were very tasty. The wines and non-alcoholic drinks were well selected and matched the dishes. Unfortunately it was raining heavily. We would like to come back when the weather is better. Then you can enjoy the view even more.

A birthday dinner to forget we visited for birthday dinner hoping for a special evening but left €150 poorer and deeply disappointed. We started at the rooftop for drinks and snacks, where we were greeted by the *best iced tea ever*, overly sweet and utterly disappointing. The bartender, with an air of arrogance, tried to "educate" us on their gin, which was neither impressive nor appreciated. Despite arriving at 19:00 as planned, we were left shivering in the cold until nearly 20:00 before being released from the freezing rooftop. The ambiance of the rooftop was further marred by club music blaring—hardly suitable for fine dining. Once seated, the first course of White Asparagus with Zeeland Flat Oyster was bland and uninspired. The second course, featuring Monkfish with Wakame and Leek Terrine, Smoked Eel, and a Cream of Capers and Raisins, fell flat with weak flavors and insufficient smokiness. The Kohlrabi cooked in dashi and fried in Goji butter, served with Spinach, Green Pepper Sauce, and Cream of Shallot, was excessively salty, and the spinach tasted unpleasantly like soil. The main course, their version of Peking Duck, included a steamed bao filled with duck leg confit, which was the only highlight—soft and flavorful. Unfortunately, the duck was too gamey, and the sauces did not complement the meat. The combination of cabbage and shrimp was dry and lacked the expected umami. Dessert combined banana with peanut, sambal, and bacon, resulting in a fatty bacon sauce that overwhelmed the banana ice cream, failing to meet fine dining expectations. Overall, the chaotic service, freezing rooftop wait, inappropriate music, and underwhelming dishes made this a birthday dinner to forget. Save your money and dine elsewhere.

We visited REM for a set menu of 7 courses. It was really a great dining experience. Super interesting combinations from seasonal local ingredients - chef really had a blast with the summers menu! I don’t think it’s even necessary to go for 7 courses there, you’ll be full after 5 already (as they also provide bread and butter which are filling - loved algae and yuzy butters!) There was a bit of a waiting time between course 4-6 but nothing out of the ordinary. When booking note that they have an option of big “shared” blue table - that table is positioned in my opinion rather awkwardly in the middle of the hall and doesn’t really have the best view, and you’ll have to sit on a bench without a back support. I would suggest waiting a bit and reserving a regular dining table (almost all of them have great positioning to enjoy the view!)

Too contrived, soulless and still feels a bit like a tourist tent. No special flavors. But 1 of the 5 dishes really stood out (kohlrabi). Energy is mainly found in the form (cheese foam in the shape of a block of cheese, butter in the shape of a Pacman, banana dessert in the shape of a banana) and not in special flavors. A bit childish. May not be my style, but for the money you expect a little more refinement. We had a great night at REM. It was a delightful experience. From the welcome in the bar area with some canapés and champagne, to our dinner table with a great view of the IJ. Lovely vegetarian menu with a great build up of dishes, from light / acidic, to more hearty / warm. The sommelier was also super qualified and very friendly. He definitely made it an extra special experience and this is where REM really scores points ahead of other fine dining restaurants.
