Renato's Pizzeria - De Pijp in Nieuwe Pijp

They cancelled my order after 45 minutes of preparing.

We started with the focaccia and the prosciutto with grilled artichokes, both of which were tasty and a nice way to begin the meal. The service was good & pugliese wine was also great. For the pizzas, we tried the Diavola, ’Nduja, Cotto Tartufo, and Margherita. The ingredients tasted fresh and everything was well prepared, but overall nothing really stood out or felt particularly memorable. One thing I found a bit surprising was that, instead of using traditional Italian Prosciutto Cotto, they use Dutch beenham. To their credit, this is clearly stated on the menu, but it still felt like an unusual choice for an Italian pizzeria. Overall, it was an ok meal, just not one that exceeded our expectations.

For Amsterdam, the pizza is pretty good. A little light on toppings, but good flavor. Very quick service.

I was in De Pijp and my boyfriend and I happened to stumble upon this little place. It was very atmospheric, the service was friendly, and the food was delicious. All in all, we had a pleasantly surprising evening. We will definitely be back.

Went to this place because of high rating on Google, but it wasn't a great experience. Average service, did not feel welocome maybe because they did not have any other single guest. Was offered a high seat near the window when a lot of tables were actually available. Menu came in late and the pizza I ordered was too sour with excessive tomato sauce and tomatoes. Wasn't really a good experience.

Had a nice meal at Renato’s Pizzeria in De Pijp. The atmosphere was cozy, and the staff was fine and polite. One criticism, though: the prosciutto topping on the pizza. Whereas I previously always got Italian (cured) ham on my pizza at other restaurants, this time I just got slices of (regular) ham from the supermarket. A bit of a shame, but it was still tasty! I also found the tiramisu a bit mediocre. It tasted mainly like whipped cream. All in all, a cozy place with fine food, but not a culinary masterpiece.

I don’t know why they only serve pizza (and pasta at their other restaurant across the street) but this pizza they do quite well. I use to think their Tartufo and their Nduja were good too. But we shared at the table and I think they miss something or I am just bored with these variations 🫢

A charming little place, packed with tables, and though well-attended, the noise level remains pleasant. Friendly service. Truly delicious classic Italian food with excellent burrata, straciatella, pizza bases, tomatoes, olives, basil, etc. Plenty of vegetarian options. Just shy of 5 stars because, for us, the mascarpone and cheeses were sometimes a bit too much. But someone else might be thrilled.

Yesterday evening, my friend and I came to the restaurant and had an unpleasant interaction with one of the waitresses. She refused to speak English. We speak a little Dutch, but she quickly said the restaurant was completely full. Even after we said we were willing to sit outside (where there were empty chairs), she didn’t engage with us further and ultimately ignored us. We then checked their website right away, and what confused us was it showed a few available time slots. We made a reservation online right away, and only after that we were allowed in. But they didn't ask us beforehand whether we had reservations. Only until we told them two times we made a reservation under this name, then they checked and let us in! We also noticed that other guests who appeared to be Dutch were treated differently. They were greeted more warmly and weren’t told the restaurant was fully booked. We’ve lived in Amsterdam for about five years, and this is honestly one of the rudest experiences we’ve had with a waitress. We understand Dutch directness, but this felt like something else. We did enjoy the food, but the attitude of the waitress (black, medium-length hair) really affected our experience. I’m sharing this because I hope the team can address it and make sure all customers, Dutch or not, are treated equally and respectfully.

I came here with my roomate and the pizzas, cocktails and dessert were really delicious, 100% recommend. One small remark is that they didn’t slice the pizza, which means that as you’re cutting the pizza the pizza will get cold eventually as you eat it. So I recommend that you request to have your pizza sliced if you want to avoid that. The tiramisu was very creamy and delicious. The staff was very kind and attentive. We liked how there was seasoning and spicy olive oil on the table already. The ambience and the playlist of the restaurant is really nice. Very good Christmas themed decor also. Perfect for a one on one hangout. We actually decided to come here after the staff from Renato’s Osteria also recommended their pizzeria. Both locations are worth trying. Very nice experience.

Went with high hopes after looking at the all the reviews- however the pizza was pretty average. Not bad, just not worth the price for sure. Restaurant itself is pretty cramped, you’re always bumping into someone or something given how close the tables are packed. Not a very fun/ relaxing experience for sure.

We stumbled upon this place by chance with a dinner gift card. We had a wonderful evening, excellent, friendly, and fast service, and a delicious pizza. We'll be back soon, with or without a dinner gift card!

Quality has dropped over the years

Had a takeaway pizza from Renato’s yesterday. The only thing I can say is it was the best pizza I’ve had in Amsterdam. Delicious!!!

I really liked their pizza. It was balanced, nice and crispy. Staff could maybe pay a bit more attention to the guests.

The best pizza in Amsterdam, deliciously thin and light, with super fresh ingredients. The service was clean (well-groomed servers), stylishly dressed, and super friendly. We eat here often and always leave satisfied.

We had high expectations for this restaurant. The atmosphere was as good as it can be in in the Pijp. The pizza was also good, the waiter that was responsible for our table was also very attentive and friendly. Unfortunately the experience in the very last minute completely killed the whole experience. One of the employees that apparently works at the kitchen went out of the restaurant, stands in the middle of the street and scratched his butt, in a point that we could see his underwear. That was a killer mood and therefore we are definitely never coming back.

Very disappointed with gluten free pizza, the dough wasn’t good and it seemed frozen and precooked.

After dining with family across the street several times, I opted for Renato's Pizzeria this time. The experience here is also excellent. The same cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and quality ingredients, but with a different concept. I've rarely eaten such perfect pizza crusts outside of Italy. Recommendations include Renato's "Tagliere famoso" and the Pinot Grigio from Cantina Bolzano. Very tasty wine at a fair price.

Very bad service. We waited more than an hour for the pizzas. The table next to us got the pizzas we ordered because the waitress messed up the order. When I told her that those were our pizzas she insisted it is theirs. The couple next to us sat there only for a couple of minutes although we've been waiting for long and I was sure those were our pizzas because they were very specific not what most order ('Nduja and another one). I told the waitress to check and then she comes back after talking to her colleague who took our order and told us that yes those were our pizzas and not even an apology that she messed up. So we had to wait again for 15mins more. Not returning there simply because of the poor service. Not to mention that another waiter when he brought the water, he touched the glass which fell on the table (it was empty thankfully) and he didn't even say sorry and bring a new one.

Ik denk lekker een pizza bestellen. Dus bellen om een bestelling te doen. Geen gehoor. Ik denk ik loop naar de zaak. Dus ik vraag doet de telefoon het niet. Ja wel hoor maar we hebben het druk Ik zie 2 mensen eten. Dus waar is de drukte. Dus bestelling gemaakt en de pin deed het niet. Dus contant, nee dat wilde ze niet. Wel via een tikkie dat was beter. Vervolgen is die persoon bezig met een zeer lange WhatsApp sturen naar andere mensen. Eten dat is wel goed. Maar de klantvriendelijkheid is echt waardeloos en zeer slecht. Dus eigenaar als u dit leest. Personeel veel beter opleiden en dan komt er meer omzet binnen. Want ja het kroontje is sneller van je hoofd . Dan dat het er weer goed op staat.

Visitamos la pizzería de Renato esta noche durante nuestro fin de semana en Amsterdam. Es un pequeño restaurante encantador con personal muy amable y un ambiente acogedor. Pedí la pizza vegetariana con queso vegano - era una deliciosa pizza de estilo romano y el queso vegano era muy bueno, no demasiado abrumador como puede ser. Mi marido pidió el Napoli y también le encantó. Compartimos la ensalada lateral que era el acompañamiento perfecto. Las mesas están un poco demasiado juntas, cada vez que la persona sentada junto a mí se levantaba, su silla me golpeaba - me resultaba un poco abrumador estar tan empacado, pero eso tal vez sea solo un ‘problema de mí’. Sin duda recomendaría este lugar 🍕 👍🏽

I went to Renato's Pizzeria yesterday in the late afternoon, and it was a very pleasant experience. The pizzas are large and come in a good variety of flavours. The service was very cordial! Personally, I found the pizza quite tasty. I recommend trying to book a table, as it was packed even at 6 pm. There are many vegetarian and vegan options

We booked a three-course dinner through Social Deal. The food was good and the pizzas in particular were divine and large. There is nothing to complain about in terms of service. We were nicely received and served. The only thing that was less is that they apparently work in shifts. We were asked to pay because the next guests were already there. Something we understood given the number of seats.

Top food! You have to take shifts into account, but they are relaxed about it. Tiramisu is a disappointment, it could really be a lot tastier.

We were tourists, tired and needing some food. Walking around and stumbling across this place was the best! I thought they would be closed, but they served us with a smile. The pizza was to die for, a beautiful salad and the best red wine. I’ll make it back to Amsterdam one day and definitely plan to eat here!

Ate via social deal, food was really delicious! Price-quality ratio was phenomenal. Pasta was made with love and it was noticeable. The owner had a genuine passion for the company and the staff was great. Delicious food, will recommend this to everyone and I will definitely come back.
