We had a delicious meal, great value for money, we would love to come back.

We had a delicious meal. A 6-course vegetarian menu. Highly recommended, creative and very flavorful. The service was friendly. It was a pity, though, that it was very busy and noisy this Saturday evening. There were a number of larger groups, which meant the atmosphere for our romantic dinner wasn't as we had hoped. As compensation for this, we received coffee on the house.

We had the 7-course menu, and 5 courses looked more or less the same, with either too much foam or too much sauce. The main course had too little meat. We have had fantastic meals there a few times before, but this time it was clearly not as good. A shame!

Back after 30 years! The daughter of the previous owner has created a beautiful, serene atmosphere in the restaurant. We opted for a three-course menu, and the courses were alternated with amuse-bouches. A delightful experience.

Truly fantastic level in terms of food and the wines chosen to accompany it. In our view, absolutely Michelin star level. It was a fantastic experience. However, one minor drawback; the table next to us seemed to think they were the only ones in the world and were not only loud but also particularly challenging and know-it-all in sharing their opinions. Furthermore, it was extremely unfortunate that Stijn allowed himself to be tempted to reveal the surprise menu to them, which essentially took the surprise out of it for us. But we would certainly recommend it in terms of food and drink; the price/quality ratio is also excellent.

We had a very tasty meal. The chef certainly likes spicy food. The atmosphere isn't super cozy because you are seated close to the next-door neighbors. If you don't choose the wine pairing, they don't ask if you would like another drink, but when we mentioned it ourselves, it was arranged quickly. I would definitely go there again for an evening of delicious food.

We come here regularly, and it is a treat every single time! Every dish is prepared with visible care, beautifully presented, and regularly manages to truly surprise us. The service is fantastic, with special praise for the owner. She is noticeably present in an almost unobtrusive way: for example, if a piece of cutlery falls on the floor, a clean one is already there before you have even properly bent down. That is where true hospitality lies! The food and wine pairings are also amazing. They know exactly which flavors enhance each other and make it a truly complete experience. And even if you don't drink alcohol, you are in the right place here. In addition to good non-alcoholic wines, they mainly serve beautiful, hand-blended non-alcoholic drinks that are specially designed to complement the various dishes. Surprising, creative, and absolutely not a simple alternative to wine. So, even as the designated driver, you get a full-fledged and special food and wine experience here. In short: highly recommended and a delight every time!

What makes this restaurant so enjoyable are all the small bites served in between courses, each time a delicious and original surprise. During a visit to Elburg two years ago, a local businesswoman advised us to dine at the restaurant Achter De Poorte on our next visit. That was excellent advice, as we enjoyed very tasty dishes and attentive service all evening. After a successful evening, we drove the 175 km back home.

The food was reasonable. The man serving the food was standing and talking to people. He was holding a tray that had previously held the cutlery. While talking, he tucked this tray under his arm/armpit. Not very hygienic. The price-quality ratio was not right.

An evening full of delights In March, we went to eat at Achter de Poorte — a restaurant that had been on our list for far too long. And we are so happy that we can finally tick it off. We were in luck: from January through March, they were serving a 10-course anniversary menu, consisting of no fewer than 20 small dishes. Twenty! We felt just like culinary explorers, but without a compass and with a whole lot of flavor. It was an evening-long program full of surprising dishes and delicious combinations. The staff truly treats you like a guest: friendly, knowledgeable, and with visible pleasure in their work. Everything was clearly explained — even the dishes where I thought: is this food or modern art? When making the reservation, we had indicated that my wife is pregnant. No problem at all: some dishes remained the same, while others were adapted so that she could also enjoy herself without a care. I had a nice beer, my wife a 0.0‑bubbly — and to be honest, she looked so satisfied that I almost became jealous. If we could have had a drink together, we certainly would have gone for the wine pairing… but oh well, that’s a nice excuse to come back again.

They understand the issue, and the entire five-course meal was adapted to it without me having to ask or pay any extra attention. I rarely eat carefree anywhere, but here I do, and that makes it extra special. The fact that they understand that goat is okay gives me so much confidence. Plus, the dishes are truly delicious. The flavors are strong and well-balanced. It's a real treat to eat here!
