the starters were really unpleasant to both of us at the table, but the mains were delicious! Especially the halibut, YUM. A bit more attention in the service is nice when you’re having a multiple course menu, so perhaps more people on staff would help with the vibes and service.

I loved the atmosphere, plus the staff is very nice. I’d highly recommend trying their chicken, one of the best ever tasted! Although, I didn’t love the wine I had. See you next time!

Tasty 3 course menu with an option for a 4th. The ravioli course was delicious - mainly because of the bisque (perhaps including lobster & shrimp - I forget , apologies). It was possible to have it served vegetarian but I was insufficiently explicit about it. A couple of the courses (starter and dessert) had chunks of salt which isn't my thing. The starter with melon and courgette was heavily dominated by the strong cheese flavour. The main course of cabbage and white beans was both delicious and nutritious. Often vegan options are really low in protein. This was great. The chocolate mousse and the cherries in the dessert were fabulous. The "pistachio crunch" on the top was oily and tasteless. (We think that was the pistachio ingredient.) The wine selection is organic and the cremant I had very good. We had the potato bread side - which is addictive! You don't notice the potato but the bread has a fluffy texture. The bimi side was good too. Friendly waiter. I would certainly go back.

Food was terrible, service was even more terrible

The staff was very kind and friendly. But the food wasn’t really special for that price, too. Especially the small portions and lack of love for in example in the shrimp dish and the ravioli<< never tried such bad ravioli. sorry

Well, Alba is great from all ways and severer are nothing but sweet and accommodative .. though food is SUPER slow. I am not sure why!

Very good value for money. We had the chef’s menu which was excellent.

We made a reservation for 20:00 and we found out that we will be late for about 15 -20 minures. We called the restaurant and they changed the reservation hour to 20:30. We ordered 3 courses menu. The food was tasty, espicially the first dish and the dessert. All was prepated with good style, food was looking fresh and well. We got detailed description about what is special in our dishes. We really enjoyed this restaurant.

Good restaurant but reserved a spot at 18:00. They were rushing the 4 course diner too much because they were having other guests as well…. Don’t accept guests if you have to rush their diner for this price point. Food was really good don’t get me wrong, but i have had better food for lower prices. 2 out of 4 wines were well paired other 2 not so much. Overall experience was bad because of the rush.

Amazing service, food and wines. Stress of choice with the wine list because they have really nice wines. We took the chef's menu and the dishes were all superb. Brilliant restaurant. Delicious food with friendly knowledgeable service & sparkling personality. Simple ingredients turned into tasty dishes complimented by clever wine pairings. Relaxed ambience with clever attention to detail; Soundproofing under the tables to improve acoustics. Logo on wine glasses mark the level, enabling quick free pours at the table. Best service we had in Amsterdam, which is saying something due to the high standards we experienced in every establishment we visited. I would thoroughly recommend this place and happily return.

Stellar meal at Alba. Chef’s menu with well-matched wine pairings. Service was knowledgeable and friendly, sommelier choices introduced us to some excellent new wines and the dishes were innovative. Favourites included the leeks and the barbecued cabbage and beans paired with a Greek wine. Would highly recommend.

I had a 3 courses menu. Food was good and also with some interesting combination. Wine pairing was average. Service was good/normal. Atmosphere was cozy and basic. Price is the real weakness here. It is too high for what you get. A 3 course menu can generally be 44€, but sizes here are very much on the small end (tiny dessert comes in size of a pre-dessert, or a 8€ bread with anchovies and bean creme as small as an amuse bouche). Ingredients are also not expensive (mackerel & 2 slices of pork belly with some greens) so this cannot be the motivation. Ambiance doesn’t justify this either (ok, it’s central but you set underground and furniture is normal. Nothing bad but again what you pay for?). 3 wines at 27€ is also a bit pushing it for what I got. In short, there is potential on the food but they should aim at getting more competitive. I hope they will improve on that note.

We had a great dinner. The preparation was wonderful already, very caring. When it was obvious I was a little anxious if the reservation was stil in order, since my wife and I would celebrate our wedding day, Eva called me to say so. The diner was real good. First we thought it would be simpel. So wrong we were. We had a starter based on leek. It was exquisite and when do you say that about leek?! Then we had Halibut. Absolutely wonderful. The sauce was subtiel and enhanced the fish. Cheese as a dessert, with three taste-rich but not overwhelming pieces of cheese. The Riesling was a nice companion. The service very good and friendly. Better then some of the one-star-Michelin restaurants we have been to. Certainly better than Librije (3 star).

Really disappointed with this place, the price you pay for what you get is way out of balance. I work in a restaurant and I have no issue with small plates but they are really having a laugh here. The starters were the size of Canapés and the mains were the size of starters. It felt like eating a 7 course tasting menu but having missed half the courses. Even the cheese board had a laughable dot of chutney. We tried to order bread on the and even that was small. Taste wise, food was fine but also didn’t blow me away, lots of soft flavours and lack of anything exciting. In terms of atmosphere it feels very stiff, no music and the interior decor is lacking character. One plus is that they have a nice wine list. I will not be back and wouldn’t recommend this place.

Amazing experience and service. We had been wanting to come here for some time since it opened having my name as the actual restaurant name and we were pleasantly surprised. Every dish was beautifully presented, the waiter was very helpful and knew well about wines. Everything tasted delicious , wines paired with the food were a perfect fit! I will be returning soon!

Intimate place inside with 3 course menu for 44 euros. We had a potato roll with lemon butter. The cod was very soft and tasty. With cheeses and KEF. Recommended wines matched well. I'll come back again ;)

Behind an oasis of green this restaurant is hidden with a huge outside terrace and a beautiful inside decor - staff is knowledgeable and friendly and food is amazing - highly recommended for a great meal out

I was really excited to try this place and was left quite disappointed. The food was ok but I would not come back. The tastes were not special enough and a few dishes had too much pepper. We chose for the 3 course menu with the wine pairing. Some of the wines were great and others not too balanced with the food. Unfortunately we had some hair in one of the dishes which is something that can always happen but at a place like this i expect a bit more than just an apology. Also little mishaps like which wine goes with which dish just don't make me wanna go back here unfortunately. Other than that the service was friendly but not really personal.

Very interesting second courses, while the first course (only present in the tasting menu) with little flavour. Really bad course dishes.

We came here for a friends birthday last night. From the moment we booked they were brilliant. The service was simply phenomenal and the dishes exceeded expectations. Would absolutely recommend this place for a special occasion.

What a delightful dining experience. I don't drink so I was worried that the wine was the best part of the restaurant based on other reviews. I was so wrong. The food was exciting, different and delicious. I had the baked celeriac, gnocchi, pork neck and bread pudding. If timing allows, I'd go back to try the other options. The choices are limited but when they cook the food so well, you don't need a lot of choices. I find it to be very good value for money considering the effort that has gone into the dishes. I went for the four courses and I needed four courses, mainly because the portions were Dutch fine dining sizes - if you are a visitor like me, you may need more courses than you think! The service was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful and accommodated to what I needed.

Had an excellent experience here. We had the chef s menu which i would highly recommend to not miss out on all the great dishes. The smoked trout starter and the pork neck were stand outs for us but it was honestly all very good. We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar which gave us a good view of the kitchen. I would recommend these seats with the only downside that there is not much space for your legs other than turning sideways. So for more legroom a table is the better option. Staff deserved a special mention as they were incredibly attentive throughout and nice enough to make an off menu cocktail when requested. All in all a really great experience. We will certainly be back.

went for dinner on christmas and they had a set menu. It seems that on this special day the menu was not following their smaller dishes concept, but instead it was a more traditional starter courses, main course and desert. We were seated at the bar which was really nice, it gave a good look into the kitchen and the staff was super friendly and attentive. the food was quite classic with some asian inspiration mixed through it, everything worked very well. The pace of service was also great, we arrived at 6 PM and were out the door around 8:15 PM having had 6 courses if you include the amuse. the atmosphere is quite fun with good music playing at a nice volume; loud enough to bump along to a bit but not restricting conversation. highly recommended!

Primary goal of eating, which is to still hunger, was not reached. The portions are so small that you need to get a kapsalon somewhere else once you're done eating here, except if you're a 60kg malnutricioned vegan hipster.

Tasty food, but portions are much smaller than expected. Flavor explosions were promised, okay, the taste was good. The most special were the special wines. We were seated in a spot with a view of the kitchen, but that made walking back and forth a bit restless. It would have been better to sit in the other room.

Could have been a train crash as there was some issues with our order and we had to wait quite long for our food. The way the team dealt with it was perfect example of how service recovery should be done. We went from probably not wanting to come back to definitely coming back. Food is delicious and the wine list, all natural, and includes some real gems.

A wonderful local spot to grab dinner and wine. Not too crowded and a great cozy patio. I had a wonderful 3-course meal and the beef tartare and pork chop were particularly excellent. I don’t hesitate to recommend, even for a non-local!

Fijne avond gehad bij Alba! De sfeer is heel informeel, bediening is wisselen: soms heel goed, soms een beetje Amsterdams. ;) We kozen ervoor om een aantal snacks te delen vooral: de breseola tonnato en de labneh waren een aanrader! De wortels met perseliehummus en de oeuf mayonaise vond ik tegenvallen. De smaken waren goed, maar de porties vond ik heel summier. 6 halve worteltjes voor €10 en 1 eitje voor €5,5. Die hadden wel wat groter gemogen, daar waar het goedkope ingrediënten zijn. Daarna kozen we voor het 3 gangen menu. Alles was enorm lekker, maar de zeewolf was niet in balans. De zuring overheerste enorm en slechts in een kleine hoeveelheid was het lekker. De prei was daarentegen super! Overige gerechten waren goed op smaak.

It’s a very nice natural wine restaurant with very tasty food. You can either choose single dish, or can take the 3-course option. I went for the 3 course option, and it was definitely worth it. All 3 was very delicious and different than wha you can find anywhere else. We had the orange wine, (I don’t remember its exact name but it was from Puglia) it was a smooth natural wine, if you don’t prefer the pungent taste of natural wines, this one is for you. Atmosphere is very cosy, they have a nice terrace in front, although it’s next to the street, it’s still calm and quiet. All in all, definitely worth a try.

Food was decent and service was bad.

Not a very nice experience… had high expectations based on their professional looking instagram page, but did not live up to it. We came, took 10 minutes before we got the menus (needed to ask for it). The waitresses were just cleaning tables and seemed to be ignoring us so took very long before we could order wine even though it was not busy. We were deciding between two wines and decided to try one of them. She poured a bit into our glasses, and it wasn’t for us so we asked if we could have the other one but then she went “well… I already opened this one now.” Okay? Then what’s the point of giving us a taste if we can’t be honest and say it was bad…? We did not get a wine cooker, so had to ask for that as well, which again was difficult with them ignoring our table. It took them over an hour to ask if we wanted to eat so there was no point anymore. Overall it was not a nice vibe, no one working there seemed to be having a good time and just came across as rude and annoyed when you asked something. Feel like the place could have a lot of potential if it wasn’t for the extremely bad service. Very disappointing experience that made me never want to go back or recommend to anyone.

Weer heerlijk gegeten bij Alba, met fantastische wijnen toe. Alba is één van mijn favorieten in Oost, omdat je écht lekker eet (een tikkeltje culinair) voor hele goede prijzen. Daarnaast was de dame in de bediening echt heel gezellig en behulpzaam en zit je heerlijk op het fijne terras. Zeker een aanrader!

This restaurant really sets the bar high. Friendly and professional personnel, great and unique flavours and a very chill outside terrace. During the colder days, the restaurant inside is very cozy. I can’t recommend it enough!

Good starters, the menu a disaster

A cosy place for shared dining with a lovely selection of natural wines. The meals combine comforting flavours with artistic sensibility. I would highly recommend ordering various dishes to share as the portion sizes were quite small. Staff were also very friendly :)
