Restaurant Balkania in Binnenstad

We ate there on two evenings two weeks ago. Immediately after ordering, we were offered a complimentary ouzo. The service was very friendly and attentive. The menu arrived promptly and was excellent. The owner is from Albania and gets 5 stars and a thumbs up from me. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We had an amazing meal; the owner and staff were very efficient, polite, and friendly! We will definitely come back. It was our first time, but it felt like we had been there often. It truly felt like home, and the food was delicious. Hats off to you, because you don't experience this much anymore.

The restaurant was clean and the service was great. However, the gyros, cooked in a pan swimming in oil and cut into such tiny strips that you could barely pick it up, shouldn't be sold as gyros. Luckily, we've learned our lesson and will eat our remaining dinners elsewhere.

A complete waste of money, has absolutely nothing to do with the Balkans, portions like a kindergartener's for a huge price! Frozen food quality.

The prices are a bit on the high side. But it's worth it!!! The selection is extensive, delicious, and varied! I would even drive all the way from Germany just for the stuffed eggplant!!! Again and again! We were here on our last vacation, and I'm already looking forward to my eggplant next year. :)

A superb restaurant for true Balkan cuisine enthusiasts. An extensive and carefully selected menu, as well as a good selection of drinks. A charming ambiance and decor. Reasonable pricing. Hospitality and professionalism are the key words here. Located in the picturesque Zeeland seaside resort of Vlissingen. Without a doubt, a must-visit.

Deplorable price-quality ratio. Balkan mix steak: a 3 cm tip, a tenderloin that was nowhere to be found, and then pre-fried gyros – too dry in my opinion, straight from the microwave. We had the food within 5 minutes. It just isn't acceptable; I've never had it this bad, so people, be alert.

⭐ 1 star – Absolutely disappointing value for money I very rarely write reviews – but in this case, it's unfortunately appropriate. I ordered the Surf & Turf menu for €35 yesterday and was more than disappointed. The portion was extremely small: two tiny bits of beef, two shrimp, a bit of gyro – that was it. No fillet, no quality, simply disappointing. The meat wasn't "medium" as ordered, but cooked all the way through – which was hardly possible given the tiny size. The fries: limp, half-cooked, also a mini portion. When you get something like that for €35, you honestly feel ripped off. The fact that the owner writes in other responses that you could have complained on site isn't an argument for me: you rate a restaurant after the meal, not before. Besides, the food wasn't completely inedible – but for that price, it was an absolute disgrace. Even the common argument that everything comes from a wholesaler and not a supermarket doesn't change the fact that the quality and taste weren't convincing. No matter where the ingredients come from, it's the end result that counts, and that was disappointing. I don't want to harm anyone, but I honestly can't recommend anyone spending €35 on such a mini portion. I hope the criticism is taken seriously—because honest feedback should be treated respectfully, even if it's uncomfortable.

The size of the portions is an absolute disgrace... €31.00 for a skewer with four small pieces of meat... Gyros was bought from Lidl, salad is a piece of cucumber, tomato, and three lettuce leaves... Please go on and save your money... everything was bought from Lidl and for that €25-35 per plate... Never again...!

The friendly owner, who welcomes you himself, and the beautiful location (at the harbor) make it stars. The food is really tourist class… there is no love in it (and I say that nicely…)

Service is fine, friendly. Chose the Balkan snacks for 2 people as a starter, but this was €25.50. Unfortunately the starter was not as expected, the ratio was not equal and very pricey for what you got. The main course, on the other hand, was fine. Quality price ratio is correct. Paid €99 for 2 people inc. 1l wine. All in all, good experience. Will just order a different entree next time.

Yesterday we had a delicious meal for Christmas

If you want to enjoy a nice and hearty meal from the cuisine of the Balkans without worrying about being kicked out at 10pm, this is the restaurant for you in Vlissingen. Very cosily made and with pleasant service, it will satisfy every culinary taste. During the weekend, there is a music host who plays different music from the 80s and 90s, as well as granting wishes to visitors.

We had a really wonderful evening! The atmosphere is very pleasant, the service is very attentive and friendly! The food was outstanding, both the starters and the main courses. We had both meat (souvlaki) and vegetarian food (aubergine), both tasted great and cooked to perfection! An absolute recommendation!!!

Eating at Balkania is always a treat. Owner Aladdin is an excellent host and his wife makes all the delicious food. Highly recommended for a meal.

Sept '24. Compared to 9 months ago, the portions were much smaller. I never finish a portion, but this time I even finished my dessert with ease. Surf and turf is shameful, I have never seen such a small steak. Dec '23 We were here tonight. Kindly received. My son wanted something from the lunch menu, nice that we could order that too. The food was truly fantastic. We will come back more often

We ate here for the second time today and it won't be the last time. We already had a fish platter, aubergine, pita bread with tzatzikki and Greek salad!!! Everything tastes really good! The prices aren't exactly cheap, but they aren't cheap anywhere here. In comparison, I have to say it's really worth it!!! We are thrilled and I'm really not easy to get excited about when it comes to food!!!

We had dinner there today with 7 people, the service was very friendly and accommodating. That was the only positive thing. The food was poor quality and a measly portion for the price. I had gyros, extremely little on the plate, it came from a greasy pan and more than a third of the meat was pure, pure fat. Disgusting. My companions weren't happy either. Tourist rip-off. Our tip is to give this so-called restaurant a wide berth.

After reading the great reviews, we had dinner here tonight. Her is really fantastically good. Food great, and the employees are extremely hospitable and friendly. Beautiful, neat and attractively decorated restaurant. Here 5 stars are not enough. They deserve more!

Too expensive, starter not worth the money, sorry. Simple lettuce leaves and 1x tiny little flatbread filled with feta and spinach for €10 Main course for €22.50, Pleskavica, unfortunately simple, too expensive, a rip-off in my opinion... same measly salad as the starter... Not recommendable

In de microwave opgewarmde burek als voorgerecht en vervolgens kip suvlaki. Dacht dat ik de kindermenu besteld had maar helaas 23€ voor twee sateetjes die je op de eerste beste receptie voorgeschoteld krijgt. Jammer, mss de foute keuzes gemaakt maar bedrogen uitgekomen!

Nice Albanian and very nice restaurant with a great ambience. Waiting times for food were great, the waitresses were very friendly. The food itself was also very good and plentiful. If we come back to Vlissingen, we will definitely visit the restaurant again.

Unfortunately it wasn't a successful evening. The waiters were friendly and talkative, but also incompetent. Despite repeated inquiries as to whether the rice was gluten-free, it was regularly confirmed to us. We got the result at night with stomach cramps and diarrhea. But otherwise the gyro is not recommended (very greasy). The atmosphere was nice, but unfortunately it couldn't save the evening.

Delicious fresh dishes, you get a large portion of meat and super friendly people who work there. My 7 year old daughter even noticed it. "What nice people work here, Dad," she said. The giros were not good which is understandable when you see that there is no spit to cut it from. So everything from one cup. Zesty and lots of fat. I had a leg of lamb that was overcooked and unfortunately had no sauce to eat. The sparkling water was delicious and I really enjoyed it. It was fun to try once but not worth repeating.
