Highly recommended. Everything was great.

A very cozy restaurant with well-chosen decor and a great location. The service was decent. Sometimes they took a while to take our order, but in its favor, the staff gave great recommendations and the restaurant was packed. The food was good; my favorite was the burrata salad. The only thing I wouldn't order again was the pineapple dessert. The decoration on the plates was simple but beautiful.

Great high tea, delicious, lavish and very friendly service!

We are literally waiting since 45 min for getting a drink and there is still nothing on the table. Totally unacceptable! In this time I would have already had three gin tonics. Obviously no one here interested in making some money.

Friendly service, they politely asked how soon we wanted our main course after the starter. It was a bit pricey: €275 for four people, not including many drinks. And I did miss some vegetables or salad with the main course (we probably should have ordered them separately). The interior is very cozy, with a lovely, peaceful garden and a pleasant terrace at the bustling front, offering something for everyone.

The food is good. The menu was simple, but tasty. A few more vegetables with the steak wouldn't hurt. The service was more than excellent. A little more attention to the wine list would also be nice. The Chianti is okay. You can find better options for the same price. Great place.

We didn’t even get all of our food. Made reservations and got there early (it was our last night in the city), server was weird about it and just walked away from us. He didn’t come back for 15 minute to get our drink order. By then we ordered our full dinner because we were meeting friends after. We asked for several things on the Menu, the server searched for very long time in the ordering device before saying they were out of the item. We ate our bread app and waited a very long time before the server same to see us again, he asked if we’d like him to put our entrees in. Another long time before seeing our waiter again when he finally came over to say it would be about 10-15 minutes because it was busy. We got our entree much later, they were both supposed to come with fries and he said they’d be out soon, we finished the main food and had to ask for the fries, he only brought out one portion, our drinks were so empty and was never asked if we needed more. We paid and left. This was our second trip to Amsterdam and have had at least 15 meals in town and never had such odd service.

Quiet bar on a beautiful street with gay colors

We had a great time eating here! The steak was mouthwatering and tasted incredible. The service was excellent! I was so surprised when a neighbourhood cat walked in! That was just soo cute!!

Lack of presentation of the food on the plates. We were told that we can get unlimited fries but you really have to ask. Our waiters/waitresses were attentive at the beginning but was hard to find them later on. Overall, it would be for my fourth or fifth choice for a steak restaurant.

Black and Blue is a meat and potatoes kind of restaurant in Reguliersdwarsstraat in Amsterdam. My husband and I eat dinner there and we got what we ordered in good order and both plates were good.

The service was a bit abrupt. They ignored you.

I really appreciated this place for its taste and aesthetics. It's elegantly furnished and offers a variety of settings, including three. We ate in the garden, served by a very sweet young man. The dishes were well-presented and delicious. I was satisfied.

Excellent service, beautiful place

We stayed in the inner terrace - very nice and cozy, would recommend. We ordered 1 burger and 1 Black Angus rib eye which we divided between two. We had to wait >1h to get our meat. When arrived, our rib eye was well done (we asked for medium-rare). At payment the waiter told us they were missing 2 staff members out of 6 and having issues with the ordering system in the kitchen, with the restaurant being almost full. He was very embarrassed and sorry about our experience and deducted beverages from the bill. Not a very pleasant experience, however the honesty and transparency of the waiter deserve a second chance.

Very good place with delicious food. High quality steak. Our order was not received correctly and had to wait a bit longer, but we were given 2 cocktails as compensation. Definitely recommended, and you can sit inside or outside. What was also a real plus, you can order unlimited free fries!

Tasty food and kind waiters, but... - "manager" said "it was not possible to move outside" (due to good weather) as a group who reserved beforehand with still plenty of free seats, - "Every main is served with fries" - no it is not. As a group you get "shared fries with the option to order new if empty", without any notice. We received 4 out of 9 sides. The Rest had to be ordered seperatly with a delay of 10 minutes, - overall organisation of the waiters is bad. No one picks up dirty dishes, comes to order new drinks/sides and if sides are ordered directly at the server at the kitchen counter, the other waiters do not know about this order and you have to order it again and wait. Overall I do not recommend to come here, as the mistakes become more and more the longer the evenig gets, which is frustrating.

Honestly?) I really liked it! Everything is delicious, good and friendly service! We didn't wait long, the place was almost full, which shows that others like it too, for the first time in a long time I was satisfied with the choice of the place, I recommend it, it's delicious!!!! PS: at the end they treated us with sweets - it was nice :)

We visited on Monday 28th and were seated at a lovely table. We started with oysters and scallops—both were tasty, though the scallops were on the small side. For mains, we had lobster and steak. The flavours were good, but unfortunately all three steaks were overcooked compared to what we ordered. It was also a bit disappointing that they’d run out of the sauce I’d chosen. That said, the wine we picked paired beautifully with the meal. One thing to note: double-check the menu prices. We were given four menus—two had outdated (cheaper) prices. Service was very good and attentive throughout. If you’re in the mood for a nice steak, I’d still say it’s worth a visit. Thanks!

My birthday dinner went really amazing. The ambiance was really warm and the staff were exceptionnal ! They accomodate us so easily and willingly! Food was 10 out of 10 and drinks as well!!! Black and blue is my favorite discovery this year and i will definitly come back in a short span of time!!!!

The food was good - we were a bit skeptical with the restaurant being in the very tourist part of the city but we had a great time. Friendly's staff, nicely sized portions and good steaks.

I had high hopes for this restaurant based on some positive reviews, but unfortunately, our experience left us quite disappointed. After being seated, we found ourselves waiting an unusually long time for service, prompting us to go up to the bar to order drinks ourselves. When our waitress took our food order, we inquired about the grilled vegetables and whether they contained potatoes. Her response of yes was unconvincing, she could have checked more thoroughly. To make matters worse, our food arrived before the drinks (that we had ordered at the bar) which was frustrating. As for the surf and turf, the steak was like rubber. It was one of the worst I’ve had. Oh, and the grilled vegetables, they do not include potatoes!

Overall mixed feelings about this place. We ordered steaks, unfortunately the cook was guessing when it came to roasting. We ordered different roasts but received the same. The side dishes are absolutely terrible, covered in oil. Until this moment I had no idea that carpaccio could be ruined. The waiters were very polite.

We had two appetizers, the bruschetta was awesome but the smoked eggplant was mediocre with almost a fake smoky flavor that was over the top. We got two tenderloins which were extremely bland which we were surprised because everyone rates the steaks so highly. The restaurant is quite beautiful though a little tight and the service was fairly on point.

Unfortunately was one of the worst steaks that I ever had. The meat had no taste and was definitely not fresh. We also ordered green sprouts but that also tasted bland.

We were here yesterday, very nice decoration, good service and atmosphere, wine glasses were well filled, tasty alcohol-free cocktails, food was good. Nothing to complain about, definitely something to come back to. Oh and the regulars are always fun!!

Quality food and raw materials used well, they also have the vegan cut which I really appreciated. The service was a little slow.

Wonderful experience, the chef came over too our table. He made sure all the customers were satisfied, the steaks we ordered were well seasoned and made with love. On the other hand the waiter look unprofessional and unexperienced, over all the food was amazing and if i had to give a tip i would improve the looks and professionalism.

I recently visited this restaurant and had mixed feelings about the experience. On the positive side, the food was undeniably delicious – clearly made with care and great flavor. The staff were kind and hospitable, which added a nice touch to the evening. However, there were a few things that took away from the overall experience. The cleanliness of the place left something to be desired, and unfortunately, the wine was disappointing – though, to be fair, that seems to be a common issue in Amsterdam. While I appreciated some aspects of my visit, I can’t say I would personally recommend this restaurant overall.

Great food and service. However, the discount where supposed to get threw "the fork festival" was not accepted when we received the bill. We asked what when wrong, but they told us the discount was not applied due to a bug in the system. No other compensation was made.

Had to sing this a star. ⭐. So the food is amazing, one of the best steaks I have had in a very long time. The aubergine starter was also extremely good. So top marks on food Atmosphere was really nice we had a small table in the corner, there was a large party but they did not disturb us at all. I dinged in the service as - there was a long delay between the steak and sides arrival - one of the chips was missing and they attempted to give my colleague chips that were sat cold for a while. They then took them back and refried them (based on the colour) But all said I recommend

My boyfriend and I went to this restaurant for our Valentine’s Day dinner, the day after Valentine’s. So luckily it wasn’t that busy and we reserved for a table. When we got there the host wasn’t really welcoming. It just seemed like he didn’t want to be there. He gave us 2 choices for tables, one literally next to the entrance door and one very close to the other tables. Since I didn’t want to constantly get cold air while I eat or having people go in and out right next to me, we chose for the other tables that was very close to the other tables. I had to squeeze into the table because of how close the tables are to each other and my butt was literally on the other guests table. When we got seated, we didn’t get a menu. I assume the host forgot to give us menus. We waited half an hour and someone finally came and they wanted to take our orders and we said we didn’t get the menu yet. He apologised and went to grab the menu. After he left to get a menu, immediately someone else came in and wanted to take our orders. It went from nobody even paying attention to us for 30 minutes, to 2 waiters wanting to get our orders in a span of 2 minutes. After we got the menu we had to wait another 20 minutes to get our orders taken by the waiters. And another 30 minutes to get our food on our tables. The waiter gave us 1 portion of fries and said that if we wanted the second portion to let them know. I was tired of the constant waiting that I just didn’t bother to get the second portion. The food was okay overall, the steak was a bit dry, as it didn’t came with sauce. I also had a pornstar martini, it was also okay. Didn’t taste great but it was okay. The service was just simply not worth it. It was a lot of waiting and them simply not paying attention to you. It is a cute restaurant but it’s a shame that the service is bad.

Delicious meat with grilled vegetables. The salad dressing is a little spicy. It's worth asking for it on the side. Friendly service.

We had dinner here with our family just after Christmas.. beautiful restaurant, nice atmosphere and good service! I had a Steak with pepper sauce... steak was fine, pepper sauce was not my taste... I indicated this... and it was resolved very well... a lot of attention... immediately made a new one and some extra pieces of meat as a surprise... this was not necessary, but that made the Service even more special!! The rest of our family had a great meal anyway... that in combination with the good service we experienced makes this a distinctive business for us!!

Visited on 25th December 2024. We arrived around 10-15 minutes late due to turning up at the wrong Black & Blue restaurant - but the staff were still very welcoming. I ordered the mushroom & truffle soup which was amazing and my partner had the steak which was also amazing. The waitress took the time to understand how my partner would like his steak cooked and was attentive throughout the whole service. Even though the restaurant was very busy, we still had excellent service and would definitely return if we come back to Amsterdam again!

We have now eaten several times at Black&Blue in Reguliersdwarsstraat and the food is always of high quality, nice choice of wines, very friendly and attentive staff also stand out and complete the evening out. The whole ambiance is right!

Staff were super attentive, steaks were delicious and just as I'd expect them to be cooked, other food was also delicious (tart tatin and burrata)... Went with colleagues and had a great time. The only reason I took off a star is because there was a bit of a funky smell in the restaurant. It's an old city, so I'm guessing it has nothing to do with them but with something going on the pipes somewhere, and probably isn't like this every day. But it was a little off-putting for a person with a sensitive nose 😉

Really cute place and I really wanted to like it, but the food wasn't outstanding and the service was unattentive. I went with friends and we were so excited at the cute decor and nice table that they had reserved for us. After that, it took a really long time to get a server to take our drink orders. The appetizers (ham bruchetta and beef carpacio) were good, but the main course was kind of a downer, we all had some variety of steak and no one was particularly impressed. All in all, nothing exciting and nothing horrible. I also don't recommend the oysters as they seemed to be overly large and fishy tasting. Ordered sweet potatoe fries as well, they were delicious but came well after the main course as if they had forgotten to put them in the order.

Restaurant with a pleasant setting, interesting and good dishes, the beers are very good but the waiters get lost in their orders. The area is very lively and the evening can last late into the night.

My daughter had booked high tea for my birthday here. I found that very disappointing, 2 very small sandwiches per person and the rest only scones and chocolates. Unimaginative and not what a high tea should be. We had the chocolates packed because they are really not tasty, just chocolate. The service was very friendly by the way.

At 5pm on Sunday we were served quite poorly. Had to go inside after waiting for a while on the table outside. The girl and guy were quite slow, but oysters and the wine were fine. Small but okay. Service should be definitely improved, as you may lose clients , because we don't want to go back and be served like this again ,🥲 Places around do have 👍👍

Food was OK. What made it a really bad experience was the service. Inattentive, dismissive, and incompetent. I would avoid it. It is too bad, because the location is great and the cooks do a good job. Fire the front of the house.

I went to eat at this delicious restaurant with The Fork. The place is really nice, there's a nice atmosphere. The dishes they served us were delicious, delicious tartare and very soft grilled fillet, delicious ice cream chocolate dessert. Good service. I highly recommend it. The prices written on the Fork are exactly those we found in the restaurant.

Great tasty food, service had not been busy for very long so some small mistakes here and there, but this was well compensated by the hospitality level. The serious downside is that there were noisy, almost shouting neighbors next to our table. Management did not intervene at our insistence, so we had to do this ourselves.

We had a birthday yesterday and we enjoyed it so much. Food was really delicious. Staff were really friendly and helped us with everything we asked for. We had 2 people with allergies and our waitress, Sacha, noted them and guided us through a menu. Also they organised firework with a cake. Chef, Chris, was checking on us couple of times if food is okay. Thank you guys!

We had dinner as a group of 8 people, the service was good, the starter shrimp OK, the Black Angus steaks were disappointing in their taste, the doneness was medium, surprisingly chewy, apparently the meat was not the best raw material, everyone had the same experience. The steak didn't come with a separate sauce or it wasn't noticed to order something that could have improved the taste. The finger salt and pepper were "hidden" under the salad and when you noticed it, you could improve the taste a little.

What a bad thing! Cocktails from a machine and charged a price from a professional cocktail shaker who puts love into it. At the Hoxton around the corner there is love and passion, for the same price, which was really shameful. A non-chilled martini glass with a substance in it that tastes remotely like a cosmopolitan. With a slice of lime on the edge instead of an orange peel in it. Have to go back to the bar for some cranberry juice. A pornstar martini that was anything but creamy, with a kind of soap suds as a collar. Ordering a Bacardi cola was a kind of graduation assignment. Seems simple Bacardi and Coke to me, if I have different wishes I will let you know. No, no diet coke, no, no spicy rum, yes ice cubes. There was just a straw attached to it. A dry roll with herb butter that was rock hard and could not be spread. Shrimp croquettes as big as half my little finger for a hefty amount each. After the first drink we left quickly, they will never see us again. 55,- payment 3 drinks sandwich and shrimp croquettes. We are not stingy, but to earn your money this way, pfoehhh

Very tasty food, prices are fairly standard for Amsterdam. The interior is very beautiful. Very special, because you don't have a 'Dutch' accent, they automatically start talking in English.

We went with a big group, mostly we had beef tartar, tenderloin and Rib Eye, good quality, small portion considering the price. We tried the oysters, sorry but they weren’t fresh. It’s a nice restaurant, in a crowded bar/pub. Outside tables available, they need to improve the service, they didn’t follow a normal order to bring the different dishes.

Black and Blue truly impressed with its inviting atmosphere. The ambiance was warm and welcoming, creating an ideal setting for a relaxed evening out. However, I did find the drink menu and wine list to be on the pricier side, which may not accommodate every budget. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The staff appeared inattentive and slow to respond, which detracted from the overall experience. As for the food, the main course was delightful—bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. However, I felt it could have benefited from a more generous serving of vegetables on the side; just two little cherry tomatoes seemed insufficient to balance the dish, especially given the price of the mains. Overall, while the atmosphere and food were enjoyable, the average service and high drink prices made it a less than perfect dining experience. With a few improvements, this restaurant could elevate its offerings to match the quality of its cuisine and ambiance.

Absolutely unacceptable to be refused entry to a restaurant for which we had reserved 1 month in advance specifically for the New Year's Day meal. Reservation validated by the restaurateur. We paid an exorbitant amount for a taxi to get to the restaurant, only to find ourselves at 10:30 p.m. without a restaurant and without a plan B. Many of us were refused entry to the restaurant with a reservation, it's shameful. We missed the fireworks because we had to look for somewhere ready to accommodate us so we could eat.
