Apparently, it's not just old Beyerland - de Beren - that's on the decline! Well, I read here that New Beyerland, de Beren, is bad... I was spoken to unfriendly. We were the first customers at 11:30. What are you doing here? That's no way to approach customers. While your parking lot is empty, making a fuss about being at one of the two electronic charging stations. I retorted and almost walked away. The grumpy person who works there was angry. I told her I'd park in a different spot next time, but it was nonsense. Probably no one comes this early anyway, plus there's still the second charging station! Then the card. "Do you want apple pie with it on it?" she says she NEVER does! How strange can you get? Then go ahead with your fake card, which will trip up every visitor! "Yes, it has to be from the head office." Francise in top form. Haha. Oh yeah, they did have a dessert you could order with your cup of coffee. But it was incredibly expensive, huge, and unnecessary! Apparently, it's not just old Beyerland - de Beren that's on the decline!

If you like frozen carpaccio, long wait times, soggy potatoes and sitting on your neighbor's lap, you've come to the right place.

From a 3-course meal to an endurance test... We'd been to De Beren Barendrecht before, and we'd thoroughly enjoyed it. However, our recent visit felt more like a patience experiment than a pleasant dinner. Upon arrival, it was busy, but luckily we had made a reservation. After ordering drinks and two 3-course meals, we started with the appetizer, which took 40 minutes... despite the crowd, we thought this was a bit long. Unfortunately, the kitchen needed even more time for the main course. After asking three times, they assured us the food would arrive shortly. Interestingly, the group next to us, who had arrived later, were already served dessert while we were still waiting for our main course. A clever example of time management... but oh well. When the main course finally arrived after an hour: Salmon with fries... or at least that's how it was supposed to be... the food was cold and the salmon was as black as soot...!!?? Everything was returned with apologies, and after 10 minutes we were re-served... (so it was possible...) but by then our dinner at "De Beren" had definitely gotten out of hand. Dessert thankfully came faster, as it only took 35 minutes. However, the real treat came when we paid: not two three-course meals, but everything the ladies behind the counter had calculated separately. After the remark, "Did you really tell us this?", we were thankfully refunded the difference. But easy? No... Conclusion: an evening full of waiting, confusion, and surprises—unfortunately, not the pleasant kind. Very disappointing, and we won't be repeating it for a while. "De Beren Barendrecht": maybe a bit more of a restaurant next time? Finally, we would like to thank De Beren Barendrecht for the coffee/tea they offered us to compensate for a disappointing dinner when they served the "Black Salmon." Only... they forgot to offer this to us at the end...

We had a delicious meal for my daughter's birthday yesterday. The atmosphere was lovely too. There were eight of us, including three children. Beren is a great restaurant, suitable for all ages. Just one small thing: I found it annoying that the waitress brought my mother a cocktail in the presence of three children and loudly said "a sex on the beach." We simply said "a cocktail." Tip: just say "a cocktail" if you see a family with children sitting together.

We ate here yesterday with five people: - The pork tenderloin was white and had never seen a pan. - The extra fried onion and mushroom selection consisted of 3 pieces of onion and 4 mushrooms. When we asked about it, the lady simply walked away. - Three portions of fries, one half empty, one just filled, and one meh. - The salad with the spareribs consisted of a slice of cucumber and 3 lettuce leaves. All in all, a meager experience, and the bill wouldn't be out of place in a decent brasserie. We won't be back.

It was wonderful that we were greeted with balloons and fireworks at dessert, simply by a short note announcing it was our 26th wedding anniversary. The service was also attentive and impeccable. The food was also delicious!

We were a large group and were split up into two tables. We asked if there was an alternative. A little later, we received a reply: in about 15 minutes, a table will be available where we can all sit. It was absolutely fantastic that they arranged this, even though it was incredibly busy.

I chose a simple lunch: bread and croquettes. Can't go wrong with that. It was fine. It was quiet. The service was very friendly and quick.

After a very long time, I was back at De Beren in Barendrecht. It was a bit difficult to find a parking space; it was full. I wasn't sure if you were allowed to park there as well. We were quickly helped to our place, quickly received the menu and of course something to drink. The service was excellent, as was the food, which came quite quickly. The atmosphere and service were great, something to come back for.

We ordered a 3-course meal and the starter was excellent. The main course was served with meat and nothing else. We asked a waiter what the fries were, but they had forgotten about them. The dessert was also included. There were four of us, and we received 2 coffees, while the other 2 were forgotten.

The food was delicious again, and we had a great time. The only downside, in my opinion, is the vegetable portions. Something incredibly important at a meal, but the seasonal vegetables are only 6 pieces instead of a full bowl. There's also no vegetable option for the children, like peas, which almost everyone likes. I'd love to see more of your vegetables.

Yesterday I went to De Beren in Barendrecht for dinner for the first time. I chose the three-course menu, and it was fantastic. The garlic shrimp were perfectly cooked with a not-too-strong garlic flavor. Then I went for the pork tenderloin, and the waiter asked how I wanted it cooked. I really enjoyed it, as did the various fries. The icing on the cake was the apple crumble. A wonderfully warm and autumnal dessert. I'll definitely be back!

Besides the passion and joy that radiated throughout the dinner, the food was truly amazing. I could clearly tell from the team that it was a dynamic team that worked like a well-oiled machine. The service to guests was clear and, above all, genuine. A real reason for me to come back. Another reason for me to come back is that the food arrived quickly and at the perfect temperature. Our chateaubriand was requested medium rare and perfectly cooked to order. In short, we enjoyed it and we highly recommend it. Who wouldn't want to miss this warm atmosphere!

Waiting 45 minutes for tomato soup, and then missing the balls. Waiting 2 hours for a main course with cold fries. I'd skip the sweet potato fries too, especially if they're reheated at the chip shop. Wanting to handle a complaint quickly by taking some drinks off the bill, but then treating you downright rudely is a bit too easy. Definitely not what I'm used to from the bears. No more Beren Barendrecht for me.

What can you expect from De Beren? And what can you tell us about it? You want a delicious meal, but you don't want to get all dressed up. At De Beren, you'll find only familiar dishes, so there are few surprises. But of course, you don't want that at the moment. The stack of high chairs is impressive. Young families also feel welcome and at home here. I (we) happened to stumble upon a discount offer at Albert Heijn and were in the mood for a leisurely lunch. We chose the restaurant in Barendrecht. There were two very friendly ladies working the kitchen and, by the looks of it, one male chef. We were regularly asked if everything was (still) to our liking and if we needed anything. Although I'm not always impressed by that, it never sounded overly commercial, but genuinely interested. We opted for the 12-o'clock snack. It was a cozy plate filled with all sorts of goodies. Even a (delicious!) soup. We were so full that we asked if we could share a dessert, which was no problem at all. We were politely given one plate and two spoons. The decor is the kind that a blind horse couldn't do any harm. But, as I mentioned earlier, you don't come here for haute cuisine. You just want good food at a reasonable price. And that was achieved perfectly today.

I read a lot of complaints about the staff being slow, but I didn't really notice it. The biggest drawback: the portions. Either they bought very large plates, or the portions have shrunk considerably. For the money you pay, you can't really have a "good meal" anymore. Choosing the right number of satay sticks is also a bit disappointing. Other dishes are also small and just barely enough. Will it officially be enough? Absolutely. Are you feeling full after an evening of Burgundian enjoyment? No. Absolutely not. Considering the prices, you feel a bit ripped off. See also other reviews with mini scoops of ice cream. Product inflation seems to have become commonplace within this company. Too bad. Friendly staff, but the price-to-quantity ratio is no longer in line. No more Beren for a while.

The food was absolutely terrible! Nothing was up to par with what we'd come to expect from the Bear Restaurants! There was bread, but no butter or olive oil. The spare ribs were overpriced and just regular supermarket quality from a convection oven... Truly awful! And it's allowed to be expensive! Unfortunately, we don't recommend this restaurant and we'll never be back!

Delicious food and excellent service. The highlight was when my nephew asked for a milkshake. It wasn't on the menu, but they improvised a bit to make him one. Fantastic!

A very disappointing experience. The drinks arrived later than the food. And unfortunately, it was wrong. We ordered a bottle of white wine, but they only brought a glass. The spare ribs were lukewarm at best; the honey dripped everywhere, staining the chairs and table. This made it a sticky mess. The sauce with the pork satay was too reduced and therefore dry. The fries looked like they had been fried in old oil. The espresso was served in cold cups and therefore not hot enough. The restroom was not clean. There was black residue on the hand dryer and dark, dried dirt on the wall near the sink. This could be much better!

We made a reservation after 6:00 PM and received our food at 7:30 PM, but it took far too long. The food wasn't good; the spare ribs looked like they'd been microwaved, had no color or flavor, and certainly weren't prepared on a grill as we're used to. The satay looked undercooked, and the peanut sauce had been heated for far too long, so it wasn't even sauce. When clearing the table, I asked if the kitchen staff were new. It's a shame, but I'll skip it next time. The staff really goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable!

Waited 70 minutes for the main course. It's not the service's fault, but rather the chefs, who are incredibly slow for a restaurant that's a quarter full. The chicken satay was half raw. The plate you get is also very meager. Only 3 skewers on the plate with a scoop of satay sauce. The fries come in a cup that's far too small. 19 euros for 3 skewers and a cup of fries. Not even a container of vegetables or anything. This is beyond words. Do something about it.
