The waiting time between taking the order and serving could be a little shorter. Now there was well over half an hour between them.

This one was one for the books; first of all, we were greeted by the biggest smile ever! What a welcome. De Beren Haarlem is a lovely establishment, and it was my first experience with De Beren. The order was taken with that same big smile, and the food was delicious; we had a 3-course set menu. All in all, a wonderful experience and definitely worth repeating.

We thoroughly enjoyed a lovely lunch outside on the terrace; the staff was nice and friendly. Furthermore, this location distinguishes itself from other restaurants because they like to add a personal touch to the visit!

I found a Social Deal at De Beren and arrived at 2:30 PM. It wasn't busy inside at all then; there were about 7 full tables. It took at least half an hour before someone came to our table to ask what we wanted to drink. We had the 2-course Social Deal menu: soup first, followed by a sandwich of our choice as the main course. The food was tasty, but it took 1 hour and 10 minutes before we had a bowl of soup in front of us. A real waste of the waiting time!!! We sat there for a good 2 hours for lunch because the food took so long. It was only because I had already paid in advance that we didn't leave, but this is really not okay! We also mentioned it when we went to pay, but nothing was done about the fact that we waited so long. It was only recorded as feedback. A shame!

Good regular food, nothing fancy, value for money

The waitresses were sweet but forgetful. It wasn't very busy. The sandwiches are a letdown. The toasted sandwiches weren't toasted long enough, so the cheese wasn't melted and they were pale. The salmon sandwich was also very pale and very small for €17.50; the garnish/relish wasn't included. We were quite hungry after waiting 45 minutes, so we just left it at that. I won't be coming back here.

Super nice high tea, great value for money, so many delicious treats

We dined at this restaurant last night. The starter arrived within half an hour and was good. After more than an hour, we finally asked when the main course would arrive. They said it would be ready in 8 minutes. However, it took a quarter of an hour. In fact, it took 1.5 hours before it was served. We had to eat this in lightning speed, otherwise we would have been late for our appointment. We noticed that several people were complaining about this. Some people arrived much later and had their main course even sooner. Furthermore, we were not asked if we wanted extra drinks in between courses. When settling the bill, not a word was said about apologies or compensation for the poor service. The manager of this place was aware of the unrest in the establishment but leaves it to the ladies (whom I do not blame) instead of taking action herself. What should have been a nice evening out for dinner ultimately turned into a disappointment.

Unfortunately, a disappointing experience. We reserved a table for 5:30 due to a theater visit at 8 o'clock. We received the starter before 6:00. After requesting it multiple times, we finally received the main course at 7:30. The food was good, but due to the short time to eat, we were unable to enjoy it much. The service was also disappointing; after an hour and a half, we were able to order a new drink at our own request.

Restaurant De Beren is highly recommended for anyone who loves good food and good service. The quality of the food is perfect: everything tastes fresh and is clearly prepared with care. Additionally, everything is served right on time, which makes for a pleasant and relaxed experience. What is also very nice are the fair and reasonable prices. You really get value for your money without compromising on quality. The menu offers plenty of choice, and every dish is flavorful and well-presented. In short: very good food, fast service, and good value for money. I will definitely be back here again!

Normally, eating out at De Beren is always good. But yesterday afternoon, we had to deal with a very unfriendly waitress. We wanted to have lunch. There was practically no one there. We wanted to sit down somewhere, but she said no, we'd wait until she was with us. We wanted to have lunch using the Social Deal offer. But we'd have to buy it first and reserve it online. We thought we'd do that, but suddenly, today's date was no longer available through the Social Deal. I asked her if it would still be possible if we bought it online and could eat there now. No, absolutely not, only from the menu. Not that it was just the Social Deal, but the way we were treated was unpleasant. So we left and went across the street to Woodstone, where they were friendly and had a super delicious pizza. Regards, Simone

What a lovely restaurant! We dined with four people, and it was delicious. I left the choice of draft beer to the very friendly and hospitable manager, and I was given a delicious Oedipus Pais Tropical, which was absolutely delicious. Super friendly service and a fun, outgoing manager. We will definitely be back!

We had tried to use a Kruidvat voucher to take advantage of a three-course menu offer, which would have been fully covered by the voucher. However, the special reservation page listed with the offer was out of service. Therefore, we were forced to make our reservation through your regular website. To ensure everything was correct, we called ahead. During this call, we were told that the voucher could not be used on Saturdays. However, this restriction was not mentioned anywhere in the voucher's terms and conditions, which caused confusion. Upon arrival, we explained this to the host. He also found it strange that the promotion page wasn't working and that there had been no clear communication about this. He said he would get back to us about it, but unfortunately, he didn't during the entire dinner. After inquiring with the staff, they said they would discuss this with him, but after more than two hours, we heard nothing more about it. We would also like to emphasize that the other staff were very friendly, helpful, and professional. The food was also excellent and very tasty—our compliments to both the staff and the kitchen. Since we came specifically for this special offer and ended up having to pay the full price for the three-course meal, even though the receipt stated this wasn't the intention, we were disappointed that no further explanation or compensation was offered.

We were treated to every wish. We truly enjoyed our meal. I had no complaints about the entire evening. Top-notch, top-notch. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll definitely go back.

Update: I feel like the servings have improved by a lot and therefor I'm updating my review from 4 to 5 starts. I'd like to add that I believe this restaurant is a really good employer. Employees are always very joyful and friendly. Love them. Good quality for price, friendly staff and good service. For those dishes served with fries, the plate is filled with like 60% of fries which to me makes it look like you're eating at a snackbar. I think I would like it better when the food is served on a little smaller plate, add some salad to the plate and add a smaller portion of fries on the side.

Had a delicious meal tonight at De Beren in Haarlem; super friendly service and top-notch food. This is highly recommended if you want to have a nice lunch or dinner, or just grab a drink in the center of Haarlem.

Small portions for full price. This is a far cry from the chain's original concept, where you could eat for a reasonable price. The children's menu consisted of a frikadel, fries (a portion too large for the smallest McDonald's fries), and warm applesauce, which was gone in two spoonfuls. No mayonnaise. Reservations are a must. Service was functional, but not very friendly.

We had a lovely meal in Haarlem, and the restaurant had fantastic Christmas decorations. The food was very good. It's just a shame the Dame Blanche's chocolate sauce wasn't the real deal, but it was delicious and of good quality. The food is always good to excellent. The service is very polite and fast. The price-quality ratio is excellent, especially with special offers. All in all, for a nice, affordable but good night out, it's an excellent location. For a more romantic or luxurious setting, I'd recommend something else. For groups or, as mentioned, just the two of you, it's excellent.

If the pizzeria across the street happens to be empty, do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to De Beren as an alternative! How sad can a burger be? If you want to know, give it a try, but otherwise, stay as far away as possible.

We had to wait a very long time for our food. We waited around 1:45 for it, and we were still hungry afterwards. Afterwards, we regretted not eating at a snack bar. The food was disappointing. The taste was completely subpar. Satay came with prawn crackers that were completely useless. No pickled vegetables; we had to ask for them. I don't even want to mention the appetizer and dessert. One extra star because we got a discount on a few drinks.

It's great that the parking garage is right next door, especially for those who need some assistance. And you're close to outdoor cafes, a cinema, and other nice shops. It's also ideal if you want to go out for a nice walk after dinner.

When she took our order, I asked for the menu, but because I accidentally talked over her, I asked again when she finished taking the order, assuming she hadn't heard me. My response was, "Slow down, I'll bring it to you in a minute." A very antisocial person who clearly doesn't understand hospitality or collegiality, because shortly after, her friendly colleague was yelled at for only being able to do one thing at a time. So...next time, I'll go across the street to Woodstone; they're much friendlier there!

I'd never been to De Beren before, my first time on a team outing. I was pleasantly surprised; the food was great, the drinks were good, and the service was new. It took some getting used to, but it was very friendly.

The food was good, but it all took a really long time. We arrived at 11:50 and had made a reservation. We didn't finally get our sandwiches until 1:40 PM. That took an incredibly long time, and with a baby at the table, it was practically impossible. If there's no staff, stay closed or limit the number of guests; this isn't good publicity for your business.

My family and I had a fantastic evening here! We were served by Regi, who is not only knowledgeable about his craft but also brings a great sense of humor and a pleasant atmosphere to the table. His service was truly refreshing. You rarely find that in places! We had a delicious meal and were able to celebrate my mother's birthday. We look forward to returning next year.
