Had a fantastic meal. Great service. Went home stuffed.

We ordered the unlimited spare ribs menu. We had a delicious meal. The service was top-notch; the restaurant was taken over by an enthusiastic couple in June and they made us feel very welcome. We left with lovely blankets for the cinema (which is located next to De Beren), because we got to spin the wheel. All in all, a very successful evening.

Incredibly friendly staff. The food arrived nice and quickly and it is a very cozy place to sit! It was completely full downstairs. Nice!

Wow, what a wonderful afternoon and evening we had here... Started with happy hour on the terrace in the sunshine at 3:00 PM with delicious cocktails and very friendly staff.. At 5:00 PM we moved inside; beautiful restaurant, nice atmosphere, neat. We shared the sharing menu and thoroughly enjoyed our 4 courses with so much variety and flavor.. We will be back very soon. Highly recommended

We really enjoyed the high tea. Considering the proportions, there could have been more savory snacks. After some discussion, we were able to sit outside on the terrace instead of inside. That was very kind.

Don't participate in promotions! Received a misleading Saturday advertisement in an email, causing me to pay the regular price instead of 9.95 p.p. There are two reservation buttons; if you press the wrong one, the promotion does not apply. No leniency! The service is also poor. In short, De Beren in Haarlem has lost customers!!

The savory section consisted of 4 small bites instead of 2 types. The sweet section was fairly simple, nothing surprising. We have had several high teas and they were always very different. The one in Friesland was super and had much more choice.

Unfortunately, not such a pleasant experience on Tuesday, August 25th. We asked the waitress if it was spareribs day. At first she said no, then she said yes: unlimited for €17.50 p.m. Then no again, a mistake, the price is €32.00 p.m. So we ordered crispy chicken instead. That wasn't very special; some pieces of chicken were hard and a bit burnt. In the restroom, there was an advertisement for unlimited spareribs on Monday and Tuesday for €22.50. We brought this up with the waitress; the answer was sorry, I found that out later anyway. So clearly she didn't know much about special offers. To our surprise, there was a sort of wheel of fortune. A name from each table went into a bowl. The person drawn got to spin the wheel. Hooray, I was the lucky one. Spinned the wheel: 10% discount on your bill! But nothing could be further from the truth. This applies to your next visit. I could get a voucher to give to someone else who actually lives in Haarlem; I don't know anyone there, so that was no use to me either. Well, I live on the other side of the Netherlands and am in Haarlem for a day of shopping. Be customer-friendly then and just deduct that 10% from the bill. No, no second time at Beren Haarlem for me.

We booked a table on 18.15 for the summer promotion. Unfortunately, we waited almost two hours for our main course. My boyfriend eventually had to follow up with the waitress, letting her know that we’d need to leave if the food didn’t arrive within 10 minutes, after that, the food finally came out. He had chosen the satay buffet, but given the long wait, it didn’t feel worth it. The food itself tasted good, but a two-hour wait is something that really needs to be addressed.

Nice place and friendly service. Plenty of choice on the menu. Something for everyone. I highly recommend the spicy crispy chicken.

I ate at De Beren Haarlem this week. Besides the food being quite good, I also had excellent service. Lola was not only super friendly, but also good at what she does. You can see that she enjoys working there and makes every table laugh. If I come back, it will be for her!!

Garlands were hung at our table for our son's birthday, the 3-course set menu was delicious, and the portions were good. Due to a promotion (AH outings), we had booked in advance for the price of 4, pay for 2. As a result, the price was very good!

Too little savory food and way too much sweetness at the high tea, half of the sweets came from the freezer..

A huge disappointment. Although we brought our dog to the restaurant last year, we were refused entry this year. We were seated outside at an unappealing table. The quality of the food had declined significantly, as had the service. Unfortunately, it's not worth visiting again.

Had a delicious meal using the Albert Heijn deal 1+1 free: truffle croquettes to start, then chicken satay, and for dessert, the apple crumble pie. Which I unfortunately couldn't finish.

I went today with two old classmates, and we had a really good time! Our server, Lola, was super friendly and had a sense of humor, and another guest paid for our drinks. I would definitely recommend De Beren Haarlem!

We reserved a day in advance to take advantage of the summer deal, but when we arrived, we were told that this was not possible because we hadn't explicitly checked it during the reservation process. Since we thought you have to reserve to use it—and we did so properly—we went out for a nice dinner, but I would avoid this place.

We had the high tea. The food itself was tasty, but I felt the balance between sweet and savory was off. There could have been a few more savory bites, such as a small quiche or sandwiches.

We had a delicious meal. The staff is very friendly. Portions were generous. We had the summer deal. The second three-course menu was free. Good deal! It is a bit gloomy inside, though, and there is a cleaning schedule hanging in the toilet but it hasn't been signed off, only once a day. That is not enough!

Delicious food and great service!

Is there a different franchisee? The salmon, one of the more expensive dishes (€24.50), was served unimaginatively (photo). This is in contrast to my previous review. Review Nov. 2019: autumn menu for €23 for 3 courses, excl. drinks. Carpaccio was perfect, pork tenderloin satay too, and coffee with strawberry muffin was delicious. The tastefully decorated restaurant with a mezzanine is spacious by Haarlem standards; at least you aren't sitting on top of each other. Centrally located next to the Pathé cinema; the only downside might be the high rate in the underground parking garage, but of course, you can also come by bus or bike. The staff was friendly, efficient, and helpful.

We treated ourselves to some cocktails for a Friday afternoon drink. We enjoyed ourselves, and compliments to the service despite the warm temperature outside. By the way, we had a wonderful time sitting on the terrace!

we came in for lunch and we had to seat in front of the open kitchen. We placed the order but after seeing the cook working we paid our drinks and ran away. What a shame to see this kind of behaviour in an open kitchen.

We thoroughly enjoyed a high tea on Friday afternoon. Fortunately, the temperature inside was pleasant. The high tea included many snacks and tasty treats. We wanted for nothing. The choice of 6 types of tea was also nice. The service was very friendly and the atmosphere in the restaurant is good as well. In short, we highly recommend having a high tea here.

The waiting time between taking the order and serving could be a little shorter. Now there was well over half an hour between them.

This one was one for the books; first of all, we were greeted by the biggest smile ever! What a welcome. De Beren Haarlem is a lovely establishment, and it was my first experience with De Beren. The order was taken with that same big smile, and the food was delicious; we had a 3-course set menu. All in all, a wonderful experience and definitely worth repeating.

I found a Social Deal at De Beren and arrived at 2:30 PM. It wasn't busy inside at all then; there were about 7 full tables. It took at least half an hour before someone came to our table to ask what we wanted to drink. We had the 2-course Social Deal menu: soup first, followed by a sandwich of our choice as the main course. The food was tasty, but it took 1 hour and 10 minutes before we had a bowl of soup in front of us. A real waste of the waiting time!!! We sat there for a good 2 hours for lunch because the food took so long. It was only because I had already paid in advance that we didn't leave, but this is really not okay! We also mentioned it when we went to pay, but nothing was done about the fact that we waited so long. It was only recorded as feedback. A shame!

We took advantage of the Kruidvat High Tea promotion, in one word: amazing!

Good regular food, nothing fancy, value for money

The waitresses were sweet but forgetful. It wasn't very busy. The sandwiches are a letdown. The toasted sandwiches weren't toasted long enough, so the cheese wasn't melted and they were pale. The salmon sandwich was also very pale and very small for €17.50; the garnish/relish wasn't included. We were quite hungry after waiting 45 minutes, so we just left it at that. I won't be coming back here.

Super nice high tea, great value for money, so many delicious treats

We dined at this restaurant last night. The starter arrived within half an hour and was good. After more than an hour, we finally asked when the main course would arrive. They said it would be ready in 8 minutes. However, it took a quarter of an hour. In fact, it took 1.5 hours before it was served. We had to eat this in lightning speed, otherwise we would have been late for our appointment. We noticed that several people were complaining about this. Some people arrived much later and had their main course even sooner. Furthermore, we were not asked if we wanted extra drinks in between courses. When settling the bill, not a word was said about apologies or compensation for the poor service. The manager of this place was aware of the unrest in the establishment but leaves it to the ladies (whom I do not blame) instead of taking action herself. What should have been a nice evening out for dinner ultimately turned into a disappointment.

Unfortunately, a disappointing experience. We reserved a table for 5:30 due to a theater visit at 8 o'clock. We received the starter before 6:00. After requesting it multiple times, we finally received the main course at 7:30. The food was good, but due to the short time to eat, we were unable to enjoy it much. The service was also disappointing; after an hour and a half, we were able to order a new drink at our own request.
