We had a lovely meal with nine people. The service was friendly. The food was delicious. What more could you ask for?

We had a lovely meal in Haarlem, and the restaurant had fantastic Christmas decorations. The food was very good. It's just a shame the Dame Blanche's chocolate sauce wasn't the real deal, but it was delicious and of good quality. The service deserves a special compliment, served by two wonderful ladies who know exactly what service means.

If the pizzeria across the street happens to be empty, do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to De Beren as an alternative! How sad can a burger be? If you want to know, give it a try, but otherwise, stay as far away as possible.

We had to wait a very long time for our food. We waited around 1:45 for it, and we were still hungry afterwards. Afterwards, we regretted not eating at a snack bar. The food was disappointing. The taste was completely subpar. Satay came with prawn crackers that were completely useless. No pickled vegetables; we had to ask for them. I don't even want to mention the appetizer and dessert. One extra star because we got a discount on a few drinks.

The food is always good to excellent. The service is very polite and fast. The price-quality ratio is excellent, especially with special offers. All in all, for a nice, affordable but good night out, it's an excellent location. For a more romantic or luxurious setting, I'd recommend something else. For groups or, as mentioned, just the two of you, it's excellent.

Easily accessible. A garage is nearby. Nice restaurant with spacious pitches. Beautifully decorated. Friendly, efficient service, delicious food, and reasonable value for money. We'll be back soon!

It's great that the parking garage is right next door, especially for those who need some assistance. And you're close to outdoor cafes, a cinema, and other nice shops. It's also ideal if you want to go out for a nice walk after dinner.

Dropped in for a drink and a snack. When she took our order, I asked for the menu, but because I accidentally talked over her, I asked again when she finished taking the order, assuming she hadn't heard me. My response was, "Slow down, I'll bring it to you in a minute." A very antisocial person who clearly doesn't understand hospitality or collegiality, because shortly after, her friendly colleague was yelled at for only being able to do one thing at a time. So...next time, I'll go across the street to Woodstone; they're much friendlier there!

We had a delicious meal! The restaurant had a very pleasant and inviting atmosphere. The service was friendly; we were greeted promptly and cheerfully. The price-quality ratio is excellent. You can tell that a lot of care has gone into the dishes, especially the surprising flavor combinations. What made it even more special was that we received a small gift when we left. A very thoughtful and surprising way to end a lovely evening. All in all, we had a wonderful evening!

I'd never been to De Beren before, my first time on a team outing. I was pleasantly surprised; the food was great, the drinks were good, and the service was new. It took some getting used to, but it was very friendly.

The food was good, but it all took a really long time. We arrived at 11:50 and had made a reservation. We didn't finally get our sandwiches until 1:40 PM. That took an incredibly long time, and with a baby at the table, it was practically impossible. If there's no staff, stay closed or limit the number of guests; this isn't good publicity for your business.

My family and I had a fantastic evening here! We were served by Regi, who is not only knowledgeable about his craft but also brings a great sense of humor and a pleasant atmosphere to the table. His service was truly refreshing. You rarely find that in places! We had a delicious meal and were able to celebrate my mother's birthday. We look forward to returning next year.

The food wasn't good. The staff were eating in the kitchen and behind the bar. The waitresses were arrogant. We didn't get any drinks, and we had to ask for cutlery. The food was brought out without being finished. The table wasn't ready when we made our reservation. The staff were more concerned with their appearance than with their guests. I think they were new waitresses. They asked, "Is it good?" instead of "Did you enjoy it?" The staff were also on the phone. It's not a professional place, and I wouldn't go there again.

The food took a long time, and when it was served, there was no cutlery and the food was lukewarm. We had to ask for drinks ourselves, and they were even taken away before we finished them. The staff were more concerned with their appearance than with the guests, which was scandalous. Instead of helping the guests, they were eating and drinking behind the bar and in the kitchen. The reserved table was full of food from the previous guests. Drinks were not taken, and we didn't have any during our meal. We asked for service, but it didn't arrive, and we were stared at. Furthermore, the staff stood with their arms crossed, not looking at the guests, and were on their phones. When you ask for the bill, they walked to the bar instead of bringing it to the table. The amount and the receipt weren't explained or shown, so we ended up paying more than we ordered. I would think twice before dining here. Tip: maybe hire people who care about the guests instead of only focusing on their appearance and each other. A truly scandalous and rude experience.

Had lunch with my younger sister yesterday. This is just my review. I won't recommend it. The service was poor. The lunch took way too long for a two-course meal. It wasn't that tasty either. My younger sister is now sick from chipotle mayo. Could you please tell me it was spicy? The atmosphere was also very bad because I paid exactly €7. You were close to Haarlem, so currency exchange was a problem. And you didn't let us pay in cash. It was very bad and unfriendly. I don't like going there anymore. I would rather not give a star.

The waitress was a very friendly Hungarian woman who spoke fluent Dutch and provided us with an equally delicious lunch! A great lunch deal is also available in Haarlem during August: Buy one and get one free (cheapest lunch). Just be sure to reserve correctly.

Friendly staff, delicious food. Tomato soup, garlic shrimp, spiced chicken, satay, crème brûlée dame blanche. Everything was equally delicious. After the appetizer and main course, we politely asked if they could pass on the next course or if we wanted to wait a bit longer. There were only two people serving, but everything went very smoothly, without long waits or lack of attention. Definitely worth another visit.

It was one of worst dining experiences I have ever had. First, the food was extremely bad. We ordered spareribs, it had no flavor inside, and it tasted like boiled instead of grilled. Had dinner with friends at De Beren, and what we got was a culinary low point. The spare ribs were bone dry, lukewarm and did not resemble anything you would expect from a specialty house. The meat had the texture of Smac — you know, that soggy canned meat — only without the salt or the nostalgia. One of my friends even said that it reminded him of the macaroni his mother used to make at the campsite. And no, that was not a compliment — more like a kind of culinary childhood trauma. The “marinade” looked more like a chemical lacquer and the spare ribs arrived lukewarm, as if they had been lying under a heat lamp for hours waiting for someone to take pity on them. Afterwards we received an invitation to win €50 for a review. Dear De Beren: keep that money for yourself and invest it in product development and quality control. You can’t show off ‘the best spare ribs’ for decades and then dare to serve these kinds of sad plates.

The spareribs with honey were perfect and super tender my girlfriend had pork tenderloin with mushroom truffle sauce, delicious 👌🏻 Unfortunately it took a bit longer than you would expect even though we were the only ones 😉 Eating unlimited spareribs was disappointing the first round I got 2 pieces with 5 ribs and the second round I only got 1 piece with 5 ribs and it was a bit burnt black. Still ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ because the first round was great and my girlfriend had eaten👍🏻

In itself a fine restaurant. However, the service found it necessary to mention the social deal menu several times. As if that is less than the regular menu. In addition, the chicken satay was baked on a certain grill plate or barbecue, which gave it a burnt smell and taste. Really not nice, so we left it. The service could not agree with this. Finally, we had a cocktail where the glass was half full. Paid €12.00 for it. Not worth repeating for us.

Ate here in April 2025, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. We ended up sitting at the table for more than 2.5 hours before our main course arrived. Everything took a very long time. Although the staff was friendly, the service was not attentive: we were hardly looked after and we did not really feel seen. The starter was of excellent quality, but the entree was served cold. When the main course finally arrived after a long wait, it was very disappointing - it was simply not tasty. We decided to leave it and go home. Unfortunately, the long wait and the disappointment with the food had already spoiled the atmosphere. We understand that it can be busy at times, but this experience did not feel like an incident; everything was messy and disorganized. A shame, because we were really looking forward to a fun evening out. Hopefully something will be done about this, because this way we would not come back anytime soon.

Nice restaurant, but I miss the atmosphere. Tables all in a row and except for a few the same. They just have a new menu. There is plenty of choice, but I found the quality to be poor and the price disproportionate to what you get.

We sat on the terrace and it took a long time for the drinks to be absorbed. The menu only arrived after 10 minutes. Then while ordering, the waiter didn't know if gluten-free bread was available and went to the kitchen after asking. This inquiry took 10 minutes. We were then served the food quite cold and without cutlery. The waitress was supposed to get cutlery but ended up forgetting. The croquette was now cold again. I had to eat the pulled chicken fries with my hand. Everything that could go wrong did go wrong here. If you know that you are now working with 4 people on the floor, both indoors and outdoors, that is not going to work. Then you would have preferred not to be able to open the terrace. You know it's the flower parade and the city is extremely busy, the manager shouldn't have done it this way. Not to mention the price €30 for really bad food, it's that you are hungry. You really feel quite scammed. I would avoid this place, because there are plenty of other places in the city where you can eat better and cheaper. There were no fewer than 4 leaves of lettuce with the croquette. Is that a joke? Then say sorry, the lettuce is gone, but this is a joke. AVOID this place!!! To the waiters and waitresses, if you promise to do something, don't do a hundred other things first.

We came here on a Saturday evening to have a nice dinner, but for sure will not come again. They were clearly understaffed, which I think is unacceptable in a big place like this. The staff was struggling, and I felt sorry for them, as me myself also work in horeca, but as a costumer I can not accept it as an excuse. We were waiting 55 minutes for 2 hamburgers, which at the end arrived cold, and in the chicken burger the chicken itself wasn't even fully cooked. We could completely see how some of the kitchen staff is working WITHOUT gloves, in an open kitchen, where all the costumers can see you. We watched for 55 minutes how they are slapping and touching everyone's food with their own hands, without any protection. Was disgusting, I'm sorry to say this, but if you have an open kitchen, at least make it obligatory to wear gloves for the staff. After almost an hour waiting the burgers were not just served cold, but also without fries, which we ordered btw. It came 10 minutes later. I feel sorry for the staff that they have to work in an enviroment like this, and they can not doo anything about it. We were only waiting because we had a giftcard to this place, but if it would be my own money, definitely would have sent back all the food and left. Definitely not recommend, if you want a nice experience don't come here.

Had lunch here on a Sunday afternoon. Despite the fact that there were only 3 tables occupied, we had to wait 45 minutes for our simple farmer's omelette. Slow service and the omelette was very bland. After we asked to pay, the staff decided to have lunch and chat first, after which we only got the bill minutes later. Unfortunately, we did not have a positive experience at this restaurant.

I had to pay a fortune for half a hamburger that was dry with one leaf of lettuce and a bit of sauce, (people who asked for cheese got unmolten cheese on the burger) which came with what seemed to be about 10 fries. It was far from worth the money. I do not mean to put hate on the service, although they did forget some things, they did fine. This review is mainly directed at the awful management who are trying to squeeze every single penny out of every guest they can. I bet they must be swimming in money because i dont know what i paid for, but it was most definitely not my food.

Had a great meal at De Beren in Haarlem. Bread with spreads as a starter and satay with fries as a main course. You can also eat more luxuriously and expensively here, but I don't think this is the place for that. It's more of a cozy eating barn.

We had to wait 2 hours for our main course. This after regularly asking where our food was. Quite often we sat at the table asking if we wanted something to drink. No sauce supplied with the spare ribs. We were with 2 small children, this restaurant is known for its child-friendliness. Since we still had 1 hour in the car with the children, we no longer had time for dessert. Child was looking forward to the cup with ice cream, next disappointment. Lost a lot of money but not satisfied. Sent an email twice and called once, no response at all. Booking a table to eat is very easy, but there is no decent response back. We are still hoping for a response, but I'm afraid it won't happen. Was the last time with the bears for us

On Friday, March 14, 2025, we ate chicken and schnitzel with a friend. Then we got food poisoning. I think old meat or old frying fat. My intestinal tract was locked for 3 days. No coincidence if we both go to hell!!!

Wat een teleurstelling. Bij binnenkomst was ik blij met de hele uitstraling van de tent. Echter de schijn bedriegt. We moesten zelf vragen of we eindelijk een keer geholpen konden worden. Bij de eerste ronde drinken ging het al mis met verkeerd drinken. Ma uiteindelijk de bestelling te hebben geplaatst ongeveer 1 1/2 uur moeten wachten. Alles wat we medium hadden besteld was zo droog gegrilld als een lap leer. Als we vroegen om nieuw drinken werd er gewoon langs ons heen gelopen. En de prijs kwaliteit staat totaal niet in verhouding.

If you want to experience what bad service and bad food is; go to the bears. Guaranteed long wait for your food; quality is also substandard; meat overcooked; in short, a big disappointment. This restaurant does not deserve your money.

Went out for dinner on Sunday evening March 2, 2020 with 2 children and 5 adults. We got there at half past six and didn't go home until half past eight! Everything took way too long. Only after 15 minutes did they come to take drinks, after another 15 minutes did they finally bring the menus. Toilets were not clean. Soap was gone. Reported this, and half an hour later it had not been resolved. Sign-off list had not been signed off since 12 noon. Carpaccio was served on a warm plate. The main course was not all served at the same time. Everyone had food but my son still had to wait 10 minutes for his pancakes. He was also very sad because the menu said Smarties were not available, we were only told after they had brought them. The other dishes were okay. Nothing special, not bad. The dessert really made no sense. From the 3 course menu I had the Apple crumble. If there was 1 quarter of an apple in it, it was already a lot. There was so much dough/crumble on it, this was really not normal (see photo). We have been here before with good results, but this was a real travesty. We won't be coming here anymore for the time being.
