Delicious food and friendly staff who enjoy interacting with teenagers!

We went to De Beren with two electric wheelchairs. A supplier had placed a pallet of charcoal at the top of the driveway, making it extremely dangerous to get in. Luckily, Joey came out, and with a little help from me, he moved the pallet ten centimeters. The agreed-upon spot was also too small, but Joey had a solution for that too. With the help and dedication of this man and his colleagues, we had a lovely, convivial evening and a delicious meal. The taxi couldn't find us (and vice versa), but Joey did. The driver got a cup of coffee, and we were still able to enjoy our dessert. Fantastic!

Nice to have a quick bite to eat via Social Deal.

A quick bite to eat between two meetings and then on we went. The welcome was "most cordial": "Hello young lady...I'm 60, you know." 🙄 There was a lot of commotion in the open kitchen. Okay. I ordered a drink and a chicken crush burger with a side of lettuce. To my surprise, the toasted brioche bun contained a dollop of siracha mayo, half a lettuce leaf, and two fried chicken strips, but no burger. When I asked waiter number one, it turned out that no one had complained about that, but he would bring it up in the meeting with the head office, and that would be the end of the matter. I was in a hurry, so I kept eating. But if in two hours you ask me at the cash register if you enjoyed it, you'll get the same answer from me as you did with the first. He also indicated that people might find it interesting, but the complaint is never reported online. But he would bring it up in... you see... the head office. To my utter amazement, he himself had also indicated that he had reservations about this dish and had already discussed them. So please respond via GOOGLE. Here it is. (Three photos - the last one is a comparison) De Beren Hoofddorp. Such a shame.

Ultimately, I'm only giving it 2 stars... We didn't have very high expectations, but unfortunately, the price-quality ratio was even more disappointing. The spare ribs were clearly from a cheap wholesaler, and all for 30 euros. Two weeks ago, I had the best spare ribs ever for much less in the center of Haarlem. The staff did their best, a large team, but they lacked experience. You can clearly tell this is a large, mass-produced chain.

I was with a friend and we both ordered steak rolls. When the bowl of rolls arrived, along with a portion of fries, we both realized it was very small. So we immediately ordered fries. It was still not enough for dinner. The Dame Blanche, also expensive, with hot chocolate was disappointing. Doesn't hot chocolate solidify on ice cream? All in all, we spent almost €50.00, and the food wasn't great. The steak roll dish was delicious, though. Incidentally, because of the high ceiling, 5 to 7 meters high, cold air regularly came in. They won't see me here.

Not the quality I'm used to from other Beren franchises. The food, the presentation of the plates, and the service were all just not quite right. Everyone tries their best and makes the best of it. A bad evening can happen, but we won't be returning.

Ordering food was quick, but everything after that seemed to go wrong. We were with a group of 8 people and arrived at around 6 pm. Half of us ordered the 3 course menu, including me and it took quite a lot of time for the starters to arrive. At first, only 2 of us got served, the rest of our orders seemed to have gotten lost. After asking about it, it took again quite a while for them to get served. One of us ordered the very expensive Chateaubriand, medium rare and received it well done, but compliments to the restaurant for replacing it after he went to the manager. Drinks were also frequently forgotten or mixed up and at the end, I didn't even receive my dessert, that was part of my 3 course menu. This was 3 hours in and unfortunately I had to leave. There was nothing wrong with the taste of the food in my opinion, but overall a pretty bad experience. Would not recommend or go there again myself.

When we arrived, the restaurant was empty. We looked around for a moment, and a waitress was in a corner, on her phone, unaware of our arrival. When I finally took my order, I received the wrong sandwich. The empty soup bowls on our table weren't cleared, nor were other tables still full of plates even though customers had long since left. It all felt a bit clumsy. We wouldn't go back.

It was fun, the food was good. The dessert was a bit too big, but delicious. Went home satisfied 😁

We received a very friendly welcome from the staff member who also hosted us for the evening: Tom. He works efficiently, keeps everything organized, and chats with everyone. A fantastic host. The food and drinks all arrived promptly, and we didn't have to wait long for anything. The price/quality ratio of the food is excellent. I would have preferred a bit more flavor to the carpaccio (with a bit of extra pepper, among other things) and the crème brûlée (with more vanilla flavor).

Great atmosphere, food and service all around! Joey B was super friendly and quick. The burger was the best I've ever had and my wife enjoyed the schnitzel.

If you're looking for a place where people know their food, skip De Beren in Hoofddorp. It looks like a kindergarten with all the staff, everything takes way too long, and the service is terrible.

We arrived with seven women, using Kruidvat vouchers. A truly terrible experience! We were there at 6:00 PM and left at 8:00 PM without fries or after-dinner drinks. We had to be at the adjacent theater at 8:15 PM. The waiter immediately told us he was sick, and it was completely obvious... Despite much discussion, we didn't pay the full bill, but man, oh man, what a disgrace.

We went there to have a dinner, normally the sequence is ordering the drink first and then food, but the waitress brought us the food menu directly, just left us and went away, didn’t even ask us what do you want to drink, after a while she came back, we ordered two big bottles of cola, but she brought us two small bottles of cola, it’s totally annoying and not professional, never go there again

The service isn't always fast, but it's always super friendly and helpful. It's always a bit chaotic, and things definitely don't always go smoothly. But the food is delicious for a good price, and I've never seen a single person with a cigarette. If something is really bad, they'll fix it. Just speak up.

I've been here twice recently, once for lunch and once for dinner, but that was also the last time. The moment you walk in, it smells of deep-fried food. At lunch, they served tomato soup with meatballs, but the meatballs were so chemically inedible. The tuna sandwich was canned tuna with mayonnaise, which was fine, but mash it well and add some more to it or dress it up nicely. The taste wasn't anything special either. The staff didn't seem very interested. No, sorry, we won't be back.

The food is good, the menu reasonable. The staff is very young and inexperienced. They do try hard, but unfortunately, not great. The acoustics are terrible. If you're easily bothered by stimuli/noise, it's not recommended. It is conveniently located right next to C-punt. All in all, not bad, but also not somewhere I'd particularly enjoy going.

A very unfriendly welcome. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible to get a table for two in a nearly empty restaurant. A shame, because that immediately left a negative first impression. Reading the other reviews, it seems like it might be a good thing we didn't eat there. @tom it wasn't Friday night, but Saturday night.

This year we went for the 3 course menu again. Very nice service and the food was very tasty. For everyone, also for the vegetarian enough choice.

The food is good, and the service is also very accommodating to small children. My son received a toy car upon arrival, and a bear cup with whipped cream for dessert. Sometimes the service could be a bit faster.

We've eaten here several times before, but after today, we definitely won't be back. The welcome was very disinterested and unfriendly. Despite having a reservation, we were given a table in a cold, drafty spot. When we asked to be moved, we had a hard time finding another table. The drinks I ordered weren't served, and only after I went to the bar did the woman say, "Oh yeah, I forgot," without an apology. When the food finally arrived, one dish was completely forgotten. That woman was very friendly, though. The other (Polish) woman was rude and not at all customer-friendly. Absolutely not recommended.

I've been going to this restaurant for quite a few years, but unfortunately, I have to admit it's rapidly deteriorating. Far too few staff, resulting in bizarrely long waits. The waitresses are really trying their best, but they can't handle the workload, and they're saying so. It's a shame, but a few years ago it was packed, but now you see it's emptying out. It's a shame for Hoofddorp. Dear owner, when I read the reviews, this problem keeps coming up. Don't make excuses, do something about it. Before you know it, nobody will be dining here anymore. Many people have already written this.

Average restaurant...the food is good, the service could use some improvement in several areas. The manager is a bit too friendly...your customers are not your friends. Stay polite: "Keep your weird comments to yourself."

Today, September 21, 2025, we had lunch at De Beren Hoofddorp through a social deal. A very friendly young staff member gave us a warm welcome. The explanation about the SD card was clear. The drinks arrived quickly, and the food, just like last time, was well-prepared and delicious. It wasn't really busy, but the waiter, who was single-handed, had the air of a very experienced employee and kept a close eye on everything. The same goes for the chef. Calm, focused, and everything under control. Excellent, everything was excellent. We will definitely be back. Tonight, February 28, 2025, we had dinner at De Beren Hoofddorp. The restaurant looks well-maintained, both inside and out. Upon entering, you are warmly greeted and shown to your table. The staff was young and very friendly. They quickly came by with the menu. The pre-dinner drink order was a bit off, but this was promptly resolved. Compliments. The food, including the starter, main course, and dessert, looked excellent and tasted delicious. In short, we had a great time and will definitely come back.

We got a 4-course meal for €25.95 through a social deal. A fantastic deal! The atmosphere is nice, and it was quite full. Because we booked through a social deal, we received a different menu, which was perfect, with plenty of choice. The soup was delicious. The appetizer wasn't listed properly, so one person received theirs, while the other had to wait another half hour for their truffle croquettes. That was a bit of a shame. The main course also took about 45 minutes, so all in all, you shouldn't be in a hurry, haha. The overall impression is good, the food was fine. It could have been a bit faster, though; we ended up being there for three hours.

Long wait, several dishes of the people at the table were served lukewarm and the accompanying fries came when the plates were almost empty.

We had a wonderful Sunday evening, incredibly quiet: only 5 tables were full. But the service and cuisine were top-notch; the tragedy of our last date here is completely forgotten. Friendly staff and well-cooked food; the chicken satay fell off the stick and the shrimp melted in my mouth. De Beren is back on the menu for us.

The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and fun to chat with. The restroom was a bit cramped and it was a bit warm, but I'll definitely come back!

The restaurant is understaffed. One person working lunch isn't available, but she did her absolute best. The meal was fine. It was pub-style, but a bit pricey.

The food was exceptionally good, but hygiene was lacking. The kitchen staff vaped in the kitchen, wore long (artificial) nails covered in nail polish, licked their fingers, constantly touched their hair, and then proceeded to prepare the dishes. The hygiene in the restaurant was also poor. The chairs had cobwebs on them, everything was covered in dust, the speakers were white with dust, and next to the tables and cupboards were piled high with dead flies and mouse droppings. This was the second time in a few weeks after a mystery visit, and there were no improvements. Clearly, proper management is lacking. The waitresses were attentive and did their best, but with proper organization and management, they would have sold us at least two more rounds of drinks.

Great food, great service, great experience

I went to De Beren for dinner before going to the theater. I sat down two hours before the show started. We indicated and asked if that was enough time. In the end, it took about an hour and a half for the food to finally arrive, and what was brought to the table was very bland and generally not very good. I ended up having to ask for a doggy bag. I wouldn't recommend it.

We wanted to eat something in the evening, but upon arrival we were told we couldn't be seated because we hadn't made a reservation and they were full. (There was more than enough space). Before driving to the restaurant, we checked the website to see if we could make a reservation, but there was still plenty of room, so we decided against it. After leaving the restaurant, we were still able to make a reservation online for that evening. That's how full they were! We won't be going back to this restaurant.

Went there for a work lunch! We order food and everyone god their dishes beside me. I asked twice and they didn’t bring it. Restaurant was empty so no rush hour.

We popped in for a bite to eat at De Beren and saw a great offer, buy one get one free, on the main menu to celebrate their 8th anniversary. We chose the carpaccio as a starter, and when ordering, the waiter kindly suggested it would be cheaper to go for the 3-course menu. When we explained that we were actually going for the main menu offer, he immediately responded: "Then we'll just charge the special price for the 3-course menu." What fantastic service! We come here regularly and think it's truly the best Beren location. Always good food, a great atmosphere, and super friendly staff. Definitely recommended!

The only people who were not feeling well were not normal.

Poor service. Had to call the waitress twice. Asking if it was good, either during or after the meal, wasn't done. The review cards in the restaurant weren't working. The waitresses didn't know. I was given a card (photo 1), but that didn't work either. On the website, you get a message about the menu (photo 2).

Modern shopping center. The problem is the enormous number of fat bikes that almost run you over. Also, many regular cyclists and mopeds simply speed around in pedestrian areas. Loitering youths are also a problem. However, law enforcement is nowhere to be seen.

Had a lovely lunch, we enjoyed the lunch tasting which is highly recommended! Also with a super delicious 1+1 free promotion.

Lunch is delicious, shrimp croquettes on freshly toasted brown bread, fresh salad with it. Pork tenderloin satay was also good! Friendly service and not busy ツ

The atmosphere was great and we were welcomed in a friendly manner. One waitress spoke Dutch, the rest of the staff spoke English. Children got a nice picture with games so that was great because they take children into account. The atmosphere was great but the order was wrong (half of it was wrong). When serving we found out that 1 dish was wrong and 1 was missing. Then one dish came quite quickly, we had to wait about 15 minutes for the other (children's dish: frikandel with fries). It is a shame to let a child wait 15 minutes for which you would expect an apology (never came). The steak skewer (literally 1 skewer) for 25 euros was tasty but it felt very meager. The tenderloin tips were tasty. Drinks were only requested upon arrival so they are missing easy turnover. No one asked in between if everything was to their liking. The waitress has always been friendly. In the end we only had a main course and 1 round of drinks and 90 euros later we got a dessert somewhere else. Not to be repeated.

Very disappointing experience at De Beren Hoofddorp We had made a reservation for a birthday dinner with 3x unlimited spareribs and 1x normal spareribs, but it went wrong as soon as we entered. We had to wait more than 20 minutes before we even got a menu. Then the wrong order was brought, to which the waitress responded in a very unprofessional and antisocial way with: "WHO IS THIS ORDER FOR THEN?!" - as if it was our fault. When we finally got the right food, it was served with only one small, cold portion of fries for four people. In addition, it took more than 35 minutes for our drinks to arrive, and we had already asked the staff how long it would take to which we got the answer; I can't fly!!! and drinks were only served when we had already finished eating. When we asked why it took so long, another employee joined in the conversation with the strange and inappropriate remark: "I'm proud of you." Totally unprofessional. It was a birthday, but instead of a fun evening it became a frustrating and disappointing experience. The service was chaotic, unfriendly and seemed completely uninvolved. The food was below par, especially considering the concept of ‘unlimited spareribs’. In short: this evening should have been a festive occasion, but fell completely apart. For us, never again De Beren Hoofddorp.

Great food. Like the vegan burger. The venue is big to accommodate large groups. But staff don't understand what they are serving. Or can't explain what they are serving in English.

Food and service were great (sometimes in English). Enjoyed the burger and spicy chicken. Space is quite noisy, you notice that when it is busy. Also a pity that some people are not chill and walk to the counter of the service up to 2x.

Reserved at 7:00 PM. It was not very busy upon arrival. Tables for sorting. 1 waitress present. It takes a long time before she comes to take drinks and bring the menu. Ordered: carpaccio, chicken satay and pork schnitzel with mushroom sauce. The carpaccio was literally there after 2 minutes. Slightly lukewarm, otherwise great taste, 1 leaf of bitter lettuce, 10 pine nuts and a sauce. No tomatoes or anything like that. Chicken satay was excellent, but the reheated mushrooms should not have been added. The Schnitzel was very greasy (you could wring it out), but it tasted good. The mushroom sauce could also be passed off as a patty without any real structure. The fries were forgotten. After some waving, we got them. We also had to ask for the ordered drinks. All in all, a less pleasant experience. The waitress was very busy on her own. That may be the reason that it did not go completely smoothly. Not recommended this way. Maybe the wrong time?

The service is very friendly and cordial. After a delicious carpaccio with bacon I had the dumplings. And then I had to wait for my main course. The schnitzel was just a thick schnitzel and not a piece of meat that was flattened to 3 mm. But the preparation was less sensational. Fried too hard. No golden brown jacket but hard, well-done black edges. The mushroom sauce was not to my taste. And there were no more employees to be seen. Apparently they had a meeting. I didn't wait any longer for dessert. I had to get up at 4 in the morning. This is the 2nd time I have eaten at the Beren daan (Zutphen), which was also not a success. You won't get me back with an apology.

Gezellig restaurant met vriendelijke bediening. Toen we aangaven dat we naar het theater gingen werd er twee maal gevraagd of we nog "op schema" lagen zodat we op tijd klaar zouden zijn. Vlot bediend, heerlijk gegeten. Een aanrader.

Worst De Beren experiences we've had so far. Food is cold, tasteless. We waited at the door for fifteen minutes. Worthless At checkout there was a line of 20 people in front of us. Waited another fifteen minutes.

Staff not suitable for job, only paying attention to telephone and order screen. Dessert came before main course and was then lost. Food was mediocre

Came for the unlimited ribs, sat for 3 hours and only received 500 grams of ribs in total. All flavors are the same ribs but with a different sauce; spicy is just sweet chili sauce on it. Seasoned is a bowl of herb butter next to it. Took at least half an hour per round. Officially you only have 2 hours to stay, but we were given some extra time because the service was so slow. Disappointing even for the price they offer.

Dark en Stormy was niet om naar huis te schrijven, Beef Tataki besteld maar kregen biefstukpuntjes maar volgens de keuken was dat de Beef Tataki dus terug gestuurd. De varkenshaas medium rare besteld maar was gewoon doorbakken. De Apple crumble was te heet aan de onderkant en de binnenkant was rauw.

- Disappointing experience long waiting time and lack of hygiene Unfortunately, my visit to De Beren Hoofddorp was far from pleasant. First of all, the wait time for the food was unacceptably long. Despite not being very busy, it took considerably longer than is reasonable for our order to be served. There was no communication or apology whatsoever from the staff about this delay. In addition, hygiene left much to be desired, especially the sanitary facilities. The toilets were in a terrible state: visible dirt, unpleasant odors and a lack of basic cleaning and maintenance. This does not contribute to a pleasant dining experience and raises serious concerns about the general hygiene standards within the restaurant. What made the whole thing even more uncomfortable was the behavior of the wait staff. Instead of paying attention to the guests, the waitresses were loudly discussing their private lives, including topics that are far from appropriate in a professional environment. This contributed to an uncomfortable atmosphere and a lack of hospitality. All in all, based on my experience, I unfortunately cannot recommend this restaurant. There is clearly room for improvement in terms of service, hygiene and professionalism.

We were kindly received... The menu was fine...the dishes tasted good and the atmosphere was casual. What was disappointing were the toilets... They were quite dirty and there were also no sinks/fountains for hands. The bar stools are quite worn.
