Butter-soft steak and fine service

We had a delicious meal here, and have done so several times already. I just don't have any photos this time because it was so cozy and the food was so tasty that no one made the time or inclination to take a picture, but it was really top-notch.

The food is always good! As I often do, I ordered the steak tips, but they were too spicy for me and not as mild as usual.

(Update) After posting this review, De Beren contacted me and offered compensation due to the poor experience. This time it was definitely better. The dishes were warm this time and as they should be, and the service was optimal, prompt, and friendly. The iced coffee was also as it should be this time. The playground equipment has been cleaned, but it still smells. All in all, much better. Thanks for the compensation. Much appreciated! Unfortunately, it seems like the food is getting worse and worse. Sent back a steak because it was practically raw. Not because it was supposed to be that way, but because it was genuinely raw. Unfortunately, I got it back overcooked and stale, and the fries were cold. The hamburger that was ordered was lukewarm, and the bun felt old and hard. Ordering drinks took forever. The first one arrived almost at the same time as the food. I ordered the second one immediately, and it only arrived after the food, despite having indicated it 3 times. I ordered 2 iced coffees. The first one was fine; the second was just cold coffee. Sent this back and subsequently received the same flavored coffee with some ice cubes in return. I left this one untouched and didn't pay for it. The kids were having a good time playing in the play area upstairs, but it really needs to be cleaned; it smells of pee and is incredibly sticky. A waitress who was alone upstairs was too busy and couldn't keep up. She couldn't help it; she even asked for help, but she didn't get it. The rest of the staff gave the impression that they weren't interested.

Unfortunately, not a cozy setting. Located on an industrial estate, right next to a road. Once inside, the atmosphere is pleasant, the service is prompt, and the food is delicious.

It is located right by the highway with a gas station, car wash, and a number of other fast food restaurants. Ample parking and the restaurant looks cozy. The ordered steak tips tasted good, but the 300-gram schnitzel was another story. The breading was sticky and the meat tough. The mushroom sauce was watery. The fries and fry sauce are a bit on the small side for 2 people. I mentioned this, and the staff were willing to resolve it; due to time constraints, I left it at that.

Food is ok. Drinks not good. The waiters/waitresses don't care much. They keep chatting in groups for a long time while all the guests are waiting to be attended.

We had a spontaneous dinner at De Beren tonight. We had a 4-course menu and weren't quite sure what to expect for this very reasonable price. WE HAD A DELICIOUS MEAL! The soup was super tasty, the bread rolls fresh, the burger top-notch! And the intermediate course (carpaccio and the truffle croquettes) were truly superb, with the flavors perfectly balanced! The staff was super friendly; I think due to the busyness, things sometimes arrived at the table very late, but all in all, a very pleasant experience 😊

Just a good restaurant, everything was to our liking. The ribeye is highly recommended, perfectly cooked medium. Only the timing with the other dishes could be slightly better, otherwise no complaints.

Unfortunately, we did not have a very good experience at De Beren in Hoorn. We sent the chicken satay and fries back to the kitchen because they were lukewarm. The kitchen is still not well coordinated, which means the dishes do not all arrive at your table warm at the same time; a shame.

By now, celebrating our children's birthdays at De Beren has become a tradition. Every time, I am impressed by the expertise of both the staff and the kitchen. The service is professional, friendly, and fast. Additionally, the menu has been updated, and I am very satisfied with the new dishes. We always come here with great pleasure and are already looking forward to our next visit!

We had a delicious meal at this cozy eatery. We had a special offer on a main course and dessert from a set menu.

When the restaurant had just opened, we found the food very tasty, the service good, and we ate there almost weekly. But since last year, things have gone downhill dramatically. Something went wrong with the food multiple times. No apologies, nothing! Getting half dishes served because they forgot half of them, yet still paying the full price. Also, very young staff, without an adult present. Maybe that is the reason, because I don't think a restaurant owner would want things to be handled this way. I am posting this review because we gave it another try yesterday. But unfortunately, once again, thick stalks in the salad that were inedible and no bread rolls with it. Even though we had ordered extra bread rolls. But they just kept not arriving. We had to ask for them ourselves a few times... “We forgot to turn on the oven.” Only after the food was finished were we asked if we still wanted the bread rolls, but we had to leave and the rest of the food was already gone, even though we had asked beforehand for it to be served simultaneously. Again, no apologies. And once again, we had to pay the full price for everything. Scandalous!

I normally always enjoy coming here with my family when they have a deal for dinner. We were served almost the entire time by two girls who took turns – very pleasant and friendly. At one point, it was taking quite a while for the main course (we had been sitting there for 1.5 hours and still nothing), so we asked about it; it took another few minutes, so that was fine. A boy with curly hair came to bring just the meat, said "enjoy your meal," and walked away, which confused my father, who turned to him and asked, "Uh, and what about the fries?" to which the boy snapped, "Yeah, I only have so many hands, right?!" I work in retail myself and know enough about rude customers, but this was just plain impolite. He could easily have said while serving, "I'll get the fries in a bit/or I'll be right back." The other girls who served us handled the Dame Blanche perfectly well. The same guy had another incident at the next table afterwards, where the lady wanted to order another drink and asked if he could do that, to which he replied with his hands in his hair, "Not at my place!" Very strange. The lady looked at him very strangely too and asked if he could get someone for that then. That aside, maybe he was just having an off day. We will definitely be back next time with the deals because the food is delicious and the other staff are always really sweet.

We had another delicious meal at De Beren. We had a 3-course menu. It was plentiful and very tasty. The staff was friendly.

The quality of the food was satisfactory. However, the wait for the first course was well over an hour. And it was scorching hot.

We ate delicious spareribs and my wife had delicious chicken satay. The service was excellent. It was our first time at De Beren, but we will definitely come back here.

Things have gone downhill badly at De Beren. The portions are considerably smaller than before. We went for a coffee today and really wanted nachos with pulled chicken. We've had these before and they were actually quite good then. Today we received a truly pathetic portion. It looked awful. And that for 12 euros. There was only one slice of cheddar on it. The pulled chicken wasn't marinated in sauce either and was inedible. It looked like a can of cat food placed on top of the chips. The sauces were also TOO sad, and we were given, admittedly, 4 small pieces of chili peppers. We won't be coming back anytime soon.

The (very young) staff was very friendly and the food tasty. We were a party of 9 adults and 5 small children, including 3 children aged 3. I had made a reservation by phone, and three high chairs were neatly set out, along with pencils and coloring pages on the table. The restaurant was well-filled with guests, and we felt that the logistics didn't always go quite right. We had to wait quite a long time for the food, and several of the children's menus arrived after our meal. You really can't do that to three 3-year-olds, so that was a real downside. Something also went wrong with the drinks a few times. They were forgotten, or people didn't receive the requested zero-alcohol version. Eventually, this was always resolved, but for the children, it all took too long. When settling the bill, we were asked about the "surprise" that was supposed to have come with the dessert; we had three birthday children among the adults, which I had mentioned when making the reservation. It had been noted down, but forgotten, and by then, our party was already leaving. In short, the food and service were fine, but the service was (probably due to understaffing) still lacking, and that was a shame.

Unfortunately, not a pleasant experience at De Beren. The food was very average and certainly nothing special for the price you pay. Additionally, the staff was slow and not very attentive. It took an incredibly long time for our food to be served, even though it didn't even seem busy. As a result, the value for money was quite disappointing. For us, no reason to come back again. ⭐⭐☆☆☆

We had a delicious high tea. While the standard tea wasn't particularly special, the food more than made up for it. Additionally, we were served both politely and kindly by the waitstaff—who later turned out to be Denise—who came by just often enough. Furthermore, she made waiting for my companion, who arrived an hour later than me, not uncomfortable at all. Would definitely recommend. I would just advise going by car or taking into account the buses that only run once an hour.

Just had a delicious meal on Boxing Day. The service was fantastic and they really care about you. Lisa was our server. Absolutely fantastic! The food, which was also very important, was delicious. Carpaccio, Tournedos, and coffee cake with ice cream for dessert. Did you have a lovely chat with Jessica? Beren Hoorn, that's the perfect place. We left feeling wonderful and satisfied a few hours later. We even got a lovely Christmas ornament in the shape of a skewer for the tree. See you soon!

I ate at De Beren last night to celebrate our 33rd wedding anniversary. I eat there often, but yesterday, De Beren managed to serve a bread board, a main course with cold fries, and dessert within an hour, making my evening out a huge disappointment. It's a real shame. P.S. The meat was very tasty.

Always great food. The service sometimes leaves a bit to be desired; a long wait for mayonnaise, no cutlery with your food, and fries that didn't come with the meal. The various dishes (my favorites: the spicy crispy chicken and the club sandwich) are always good. All in all, the food is great; we often come here for a quick bite when we don't feel like cooking.

Review De Beren Hoorn: My experience at De Beren in Hoorn was very disappointing. Upon arrival, we were seated unfriendly and had to pick up our dishes ourselves and put them back on the table. The service was slow and disinterested, and even when we paid, there was no attention to our experience. In short, a disappointing experience where you'd be better off spending your money elsewhere.

Tried it for the third time, and it was another disappointment. The shop has a lovely atmosphere, but the service is very mediocre. It takes ages to get it right. The food isn't consistently good either. Yesterday, I was eating a salmon club sandwich with a soulless guacamole. I paid in tears and drove home with screeching tires.

Tonight we had a three-course meal at De Beren. It was delicious. We had salmon and a Beren burger. It was very tasty and made with care. Compliments to the chef and staff.

The restaurant looks cozy and the menu is quite extensive.

I ate at De Beren today, but I was really disappointed. The tuna sandwich used to be delicious, served on tasty farmhouse bread. Now you get a plain, pre-baked roll, which takes away the charm of the whole dish. The triffel fries also seem like cheap frozen fries, limp and tasteless. A shame, because De Beren has always stood for good quality and fresh food. It really wasn't worth the money. Hopefully, they'll fix it soon, because this was far below the old standard.

Cozy atmosphere and good multi-course menus, something for everyone and at a good price! One minor point: the courses were served quickly one after the other, which was a shame. We'll definitely be back!

Since I discovered De Beren, I have been going there for dinner or lunch because of the pleasant atmosphere and surroundings for a nice lunch or dinner.
