I had a high tea. I'm more familiar with the attractive effect of small snacks on a beautifully presented tower platter, etc. Here, it was served on a plank, with a regular, large sandwich. There was a clear selection of frozen cream puffs. The tea water got cold quickly. The price-quality ratio was therefore very disappointing. Perhaps I'm used to a different presentation. The waitresses weren't very enthusiastic that day. I won't be having high tea here again. The location is nice, though; you can still enjoy a nice walk. And the coffee, which you can order for an extra fee, is excellent.

Beautiful location. We came here regularly. Unfortunately, last Sunday was disappointing. For groups of seven or more, you have to make a reservation through the central station. The restrooms smelled bad. They had overflowing trash bins, paper on the floor, several dishes were unavailable due to purchasing issues, one of our guests' desserts was forgotten, and there were fruit flies. We were the last guests, and when we left, the staff left too, nearly leaving and locking one of the guests inside (who had gone to the restroom). Not a particularly high-performing and motivated team. We won't be back for a while.

We ate there with the whole family. The starter was good and tasty. We had a variety of options: truffle croquettes and shrimp (the bread was different from the other branch) and ribs. The main course wasn't as good; the hamburger buns were flattened on a grill and tasted burnt. The table next to us did get a nice round hamburger bun. The whipped cream was already half-melted with dessert. What I also missed was the wet wipes, which we didn't get during the meal. The view from there is very beautiful. The staff was friendly.

I've been to De Beren several times, but this visit was unfortunately very disappointing. The staff seemed unmotivated and didn't really know what to do. It had a bit of a minimum wage, minimum effort vibe. Even though the restaurant was nearly empty, everything took unnecessarily long. I had a view of the bar, which didn't help. It was messy and unkempt: boxes everywhere, stuff on the floor, and just a generally dirty impression. The starter, the soup, was good, tasty, and neatly served. But the pork tenderloin was truly disappointing, as if it had come straight from the supermarket, prepared without any effort or love. The dessert, a crème brûlée, was the finale, but unfortunately, it wasn't a success either. It only had a few seconds on the burner, as the top was barely caramelized and mostly just sugar. A shame, because it's been better here before. Hopefully, they'll address this soon, because this won't be a repeat.

Went in for lunch today. Unfortunately, everyone was very disappointed, especially the portion size. I had a €21 burrata salad, but the amount and contents were truly pitiful. A bit of lettuce, tomato, onion, and a small ball of burrata. A pathetic roll with rock-hard butter. Surely this could be better? Especially for that price. My mother had a grilled cheese sandwich, a toddler-sized affair, and my father's carpaccio sandwich was also very small. My son got the pancake party, which was mostly candy and ice cream, and two very small pancakes. We've never experienced this before, but it seems like they're trying to maximize their budget for minimal food. I also think the vegetarian options are really poor; at least make sure more dishes are vegetarian-friendly. I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon...

A lovely restaurant in a beautiful location on the Noord Aa river. The bread and dip were excellent. The tenderloin steaks came in a delicious, slightly spicy sauce, and the tournedos was also perfectly prepared. Our dog can't be left alone, so it's great that dogs on a leash are welcome on the terrace. The price is reasonable, but you definitely get your money's worth. The service is good, and the staff is very friendly.

Never again! Our garlic shrimp appetizer consisted of a few tiny Norwegian shrimp, was tasteless, and inedible. We returned it. Without consulting them, they returned with the same plate. Our half-eaten bread was still on it; they'd simply reheated the shrimp with the garlic oil they'd forgotten. This chef doesn't know how to properly prepare garlic shrimp, and the service leaves much to be desired.

I arrived today at 4:45 PM, about 20 people inside. We chose a spot on the patio. However, I decided to look for a different spot with fewer flies munching on the table scraps. After 20 minutes, I went inside to ask the group of employees if they were serving outside on the patio, which they agreed was the intention. My order was taken, an unchilled beer was served, and I went back inside to exchange it for a cold one. After fifteen minutes, I went back inside and spoke to the manager, explaining that nothing was being done on the patio. Several tables were patiently waiting. In the meantime, I grabbed the menu myself, as you couldn't order dinner via the QR code on the table. After my conversation, the manager came to take my order and laid out cutlery, including a knife with the remains of a previous meal. This was exchanged. Finally, I received the satay I ordered, along with half-baked fries. A total of €46 for 2 drinks and 2 satay menus. I've decided never to come here again. It would be nice if the real management of the bears would give the young people (the oldest is just 21, I think) who run this place some more training and guidance. Because I could have eaten better at a local chip shop for less money.

We came here for lunch. The food was cold when it was supposed to be hot, and the bread was burnt. The food also had absolutely no flavor, while it's always excellent at other De Beer restaurants. Our cocktails tasted like pure water. Furthermore, the staff was very arrogant; they paid no attention to the guests and constantly gave us dirty looks. Service-oriented work is a rarity here. We tried to complain to a blonde staff member, but she wouldn't listen and just talked over us. We'll never be back.

It's cold in this restaurant! Customers are sitting inside with fleece blankets in July!! Yes, inside!! Despite two requests, the ventilation/air conditioning won't or can't be turned off. The men's restroom has overflowing wastebaskets, plenty of paper towels on the floor, soap is gone, and the cleaning checklist hasn't been signed off for days. When the restaurant is half full, the wait times are unacceptably long. What's wrong with the kitchen? There's little sign of effective management. This restaurant is rickety and a disgrace to De Beren. Sorry, definitely not recommended!

We regularly order from the delivery service at Leeuwenhoeklaan in Zoetermeer. In our previous review on their website, we wrote that we had to throw away the fries because they were far too salty (we always specify "fries without salt"). However, because they were over an hour late with the delivery and we were having a party, we couldn't exchange them, so we mentioned this in our review as well. They never respond. Recently, we received an email saying "We miss you," and were offered a €5 discount on our next order. So, yesterday we gave them another chance, and again mentioned "fries without salt," and requested compensation, as we had thrown away the fries from our previous order. Yesterday, a female employee called me and said, "We never use salt on our fries," and she started raising her voice. I politely told this lady, "Madam, could you calm down a bit? You're talking to a customer." "No, not that," she said, "but you're talking to a customer." So, yesterday, I wrote another review on their website regarding our order yesterday, July 7, 2025. The fries were very salty again. So, I politely wrote in the review, "Maybe you'll receive fries that are pre-fried with salt." I gave the example of that in some supermarkets, and then the fries are very salty. Regarding compensation, she said, "Will you add two ice creams?" "That's not going to happen because we don't have any salt in stock," she said. "Unfortunately, I had already placed and paid for the order, but I explained in the review that they've lost us as customers. Firstly, because of how this lady raised her voice at me, and secondly, because of how she raised her voice at me. Secondly, the fries were very salty again. We gave it a try, and we ordered them weekly anyway, and before that, we never had any problems with the fries being salty. So I hope that someone from the delivery staff who can do something about this and is willing to do something about it, or someone higher up than this lady, who, to put it politely, wasn't friendly to me, will investigate whether it's the supplier's fault where your fries come from, and whether the salt has soaked into the pre-fried fries, as she did use salt. I really hope I get a response from the higher-ups in the delivery staff, because now having to throw away all the fries twice because we're not allowed salt due to our high blood pressure, and then getting bread from the freezer to eat enough, doesn't seem right to me, and it already costs enough to have two complete meals and a second side dish each, you're quickly at 35 to 40 euros per order. Without a response and compensation, as I mentioned earlier, you'll lose us as customers, and I think both you and we would find that a shame, because the chicken satay and chicken fillet, thyme with honey is super delicious from you, kind regards André and Michelle

For the first time a very bad experience, I went with colleagues because the food is always delicious, but I am just ashamed. Slow service, too few people. cold coffee, instead of coffee with soya milk it became coffee with milk with someone who is lactose intolerant, the served tomato soup was cold, someone who wanted a smoothie was told twice that the specified drink was not there, then the smoothie maker broke, afterwards we saw someone with a smoothie, also as icing on the cake a black hair in the dessert around the strawberry. The absolute highlight of this restaurant is its location on the Noord AA, beautiful view! We had a great meal. The least experience was the service. We had to make a lot of effort to get attention to be allowed to order something, or to order drinks or something. They would say "I'll be right there", but that wasn't the case. When we asked for ketchup or milk with the coffee or something like that, it was forgotten half the time. The fries we got with the main courses were pretty meager. 2 containers for 5 people. While I saw huge amounts of fries on a slice (for 1 person) at other tables. So we ordered extra fries and they weren't charged, that's nice :-)

What a disgrace. Bad service, long wait and mediocre food. At least 15 minutes waiting before we could order a drink and then 30 minutes waiting for the drinks. The cutlery was forgotten with the starter, and not everyone got the starter at the same time. The main course was okay but again we had to wait a very long time. The staff is friendly, but has no eye for the customers. They hardly look at the tables. They don't ask if they want to order something else to drink (missed opportunity for extra turnover). Empty plates stay on the table for too long. In short, I won't come here again.

What a horrible experience. I have been to De Beren dozens of times to eat and never really had any problems but this was really dramatic. We arrived quietly before six o'clock to eat something, were led to a nice table on the terrace and everything was still positive then. Then it went downhill: no one came to us to take our drinks order, after fifteen minutes and who knows how many employees tried to wave, we finally got hold of someone and we could order our drinks and some bites (from the drinks menu). After half an hour the bites arrived on the table but we still had no drinks (while it consisted of a bottle of wine, water and a soft drink that could have been taken from the fridge). By the time we had finished the starter the drinks finally arrived. After quietly drinking something we really wanted a main course but the menu was not yet in sight. After trying to wave someone again (because our waiter had disappeared again) we could finally take a look at the menu. We had chosen a main course and placed this order and then it was waiting… and more waiting… and even more waiting. The table next to us had received both their starter and main course before ours. After all that waiting it finally arrived after an hour or so and then you get such a miserable burger (see photos). Not only did it look pitiful, it only contained 2 small rounds of pickle, the thin burgers were completely black and they had simply forgotten the sauce on the burger. And that for €18.50!! After indicating that there was no sauce, we fortunately got it in a container next to it, but at that moment that unfortunately did not make anything better. For anyone who is thinking of having a nice dinner at the Noord Aa, skip De Beren and go to Happy Moose or Aa Zicht. Or at least until they have new staff and are a bit more organized.

bad service, went with friends for a fun girls night (turned out to be a hellish night) we are all over 18 and were not given any drinks because we 'didn't have our ID with us' unacceptable (it was about wine). Then we asked for bittergarnituur but the waitress wasn't sure if it was still possible (didn't hear anything more about it and didn't bother to let us know that the kitchen was closed)

Had a nice all you can eat Spare-ribs evening with friends. On Wednesday October 23, 2024 we went to de Beren for this. We had made a reservation and were led to our table upon arrival. The friendly waitress immediately asked if we wanted something to drink and we did! The drinks came and of course we came with a purpose in this, to eat spare ribs. The spare ribs were delicious, the meat went well off the bone and you can order various flavors, honey, ketjap, herb spread, spicy & smokey bbq. In between the waitresses asked us if we wanted more, really nice to experience such service! For dessert I went for a classic, the Dame Blanche. What I really like about de Beren is that the chocolate sauce is included separately. This way you can decide for yourself how much chocolate sauce you want over your ice cream. At the end of the evening we wanted to pay and this could be done at the front counter.

We took a 3 course menu 30 euros. You can choose from 6 starters, main courses and desserts. As a starter shrimps. Main course satay 3 sticks with satay sauce and each a bowl of fries. Dessert apple crunch warm with whipped cream.

Went there on a quiet Sunday afternoon, there were maybe seven tables occupied. My friend and I were hesitant at first to eat, but after our drinks were brought, I asked for menus. We made our choice and placed the menus close to the corner of the table, as a sign that we were ready to order. Unfortunately, no one came by for 20 minutes, and there was no one around to speak to us. In the end, we decided to eat somewhere else. When we walked to the cash register to pay, our table was immediately cleaned — apparently they were paying attention, but not to help us. The location is beautiful and the staff is friendly once you speak to them, but the service really leaves a lot to be desired. It felt like there was minimal effort and we as guests had to take the initiative to be helped. A shame about the potential.

Bad, service bad and takes way too long before your food comes. way too expensive. The ratio of food and price is also not right. You order a pastry that is quite expensive and you get a very small piece. In short, the last time for us. They used to be better.

On Friday 2 May we had a reservation for 17 people. The service took an incredibly long time and was very poor and several people at the table waited 40 minutes for their first beer (despite us asking for it). Then the drinks took a very long time again and we walked back inside, and one thing after another went wrong. The glasses were empty (waited another 20 minutes) without this being communicated to us. The beer barrel was warm so we could only drink special beer, which of course is a completely different price and a lot more expensive. We were already not very satisfied after all that but had had a nice time together. Until 3 of the 17 got terrible food poisoning. We immediately called the Beren about this and explained the situation (and that of the evening itself) to the manager on duty. She politely apologized and was not aware of the poor service that evening. She would contact us and we had to send an email about it. We did this immediately but we never heard anything back about it. Very bad business. So if you want very bad and slow service, warm beer and food poisoning? Then this is definitely recommended!!

Not recommended!! First we waited 20 minutes for someone to come help us even though we had made a reservation... then it took 45 minutes until our food finally arrived. In the meantime we asked where the food was. The lady asked and never provided feedback... The food we eventually received was not the main course but the desert while we had not yet received a main course... then it took them another 10 minutes... so we ended up waiting almost an hour for the main course... For desert we also got the wrong dish... really a terrible place... never again to the bears of Zoetermeer...

Maybe due to lack of staff or whatever... the terrace was so dirty... tables, glass screen by the water, lots of spider webs, dry hanging plants and dirty glasses. Service is friendly. The water view is beautiful and calm. But it's not really worth coming back unfortunately.

Upon arrival we were immediately welcomed and taken straight to our table. We were barely seated when a very cheerful lady asked us what we wanted to drink and eat. This all went smoothly and we certainly didn't lack anything that evening. Food was very tasty and the service was very attentive. Will definitely come back here again.

Ordered a lunch deal, we got soup together. Management made an error when taking the dishes, so a dish had to be returned and the correct dish would be made. 20 minutes later I had already finished my meal because otherwise my dish would have been cold (very nice lunch with the 2 of us). When I ask again, it turns out that they have pushed the dish away and ultimately, after an hour of waiting, you only get your second lunch dish. Bad service and communication!

I've been coming here for years and am very satisfied. This Turkish restaurant is truly a good example for many entrepreneurs in this industry. The owner runs the kitchen himself and ensures good and consistent quality and hygiene. The delivery service is also truly excellent! Come rain or shine, always with a smile. I rarely have cash on hand for a tip, but despite that, the delivery driver often still has a lollipop for my daughter. Thanks!

I ordered through Thuiszorgd (Home Delivery), one dish with incredibly tough meat, one Turkish pizza that was practically burnt, and one pizza where I literally had to search for the toppings. The delivery driver also arrived almost half an hour late and didn't read the note I'd given him to reach my front door due to a technical issue with the gallery door (the doorbell connection wasn't working). This was my first, but definitely my last, order from here.

The food isn't great, and the location isn't great either. There are a lot of young people, alcoholics, and drug dealers loitering outside, making this place less than inviting for takeout!
